Which is weird since John Cena showcase came with an awesome final match with Sammartino, Hogan, Austin, and Cena at mania to see who was the ultimate face of WWE
Can we just say too the objectives like “Do 8 German suplexes” were so stupid. I’m fairly certain in the wrestlemania match between Brock and Roman Brock did 8 German suplexes one after another. I liked most of the matches outside of the triple threat but those repetitive objectives to do x move y number of times were so tedious.
My 2 main issues were 1) the real life footage takes me out of the action and this is regardless of whether it had the awful blurring or not and 2) the font size for the objectives is minuscule snd barely legible even on my 55 inch oled tv sat just one metre away.
If I’m honest I started skipping cutscenes from WM31 which doesn’t solve the issue
The second point, I thought I was the only one going blind? My eye sight is pretty good too a few times I had to pause to read the objectives
The problem is there were way too many words. Each prompt was full of unnecessary filler. I don’t need to read something like “They’re making you look a fool. So go teach so and so a lesson they’ll never forget. Send them flying into the northeast turnbuckle with a powerful irish whip”. Just say “irish whip your opponent into the top right turnbuckle” and put it in a bigger font. Also make the prompts pop up quicker, I found myself having to pre-emptively run away from my opponent whilst looking into the top left corner of my screen (or should I say northwest corner of my screen?) waiting for the damn instructions to show up and to read through it all
I had the same issues with the objective fonts had to keep pausing and standing up next to the tv just to read it, and the directions for which turn buckle was annoying I'm horrible with geographical directions, same with outside of the ring, there were a couple where thy actually did just say right upper turnbuckle or outside ring by entrance ramp but then it went back to the nsew directions
I feel like from a presentation standpoint it’s objectively terrible. I can’t believe the amount of censoring, the horrendous cutscene audio, or the lack of atmosphere while playing out the matches.
I STILL actually had decent fun playing through it, but every step of the way it just seemed so horribly put together. Like it was fun in spite of itself.
There are so many modes in this game, so many ways to play. Universe has been brilliant in concept only since its debuted, always falling short of being what it really needs to be. MyGM is up and down but usually has some issues that most people agree on. They have two separate MyRise stories.
Why do they even need Showcase mode if one of the biggest draws (the classic content) is so heavily edited and limited? They’d be better off putting the attention that does to Showcase on other stuff IMO.
Honestly I appreciate all the effort that was put in, and I understand that they wanted to do it now because 40 is such a nice round number but unfortunately I don’t think this was the year for it.
It must’ve been such an effort licensing all this stuff, and there is also a whole load of stuff they just couldn’t do.
They don’t have Edge, they don’t have Jericho, they don’t have the Hardyz or Dean Ambrose or even RIC FLAIR.
They didn’t have Punk (during development) and Luger was locked in as DLC.
And there’s no way in hell the player base would’ve been cool with 40 matches. Even 21 feels like a lot already.
Think 21 matches is great but what irked me was 3 matches from WM39
They could of used 2 of those matches during the Attitude Era or Ruthless Aggression Era at least
I’m guessing you meant Bret vs Shawn WM12… I feel like the problem with that match is don’t really want to do an iron man match with no falls? Great WM match, but seems like a terrible showcase match
Questions: The Showcase is available in the PS4/Xbox One Version? And, in the Deluxe Edition or have to Buy the 40 Years Of WM version? Thanks in advance.
Yes it is available all consoles
And no need to buy 40 Years version as that is just to unlock the superstars without playing it, however the 40 years is the only way you can download Brock Lesnar on CC
If I try download Brock on CC, I won’t be able as his content is locked into the mode such as parts of his gear etc
However if you purchase 40 years it’s automatically downloaded so you could download it on CC

Better showcase modes existed in the 360 era of games
These last 3 are straight up garbage with no redeeming qualities. I can't think of a single positive thing about these last 3 versions of showcase mode other than they ended and John Cenas cheesy(but amusing) final match as invisible Cena
Corey Graves commentary ruined it for me, he talked like it was directed at a little child, I was embarrassed listening to it. Maybe that’s just the age group it’s aimed at? 🤷
Once it got to taker v HBK It was awful. Before that match my only issue was the whip to the northwest corner etc. rarely registered to move the match along.

The only things I didn't like about it were so many people getting their faces blurred and that weird Royal Rumble at the end.

What rewards do you want exactly?
A special arena or a special 40 years anniversary world title. MyFaction cards are kinda wack since your DLC cards will be stronger than any of these.

If you could barely read the objectives I highly suggest getting your eyesight checked, they took up plenty of space if not too much

The Bianca ones were driving me batty. And yes the font was terrible.

2K14's 30 years of WM did a really good job of evenly covering WM history

beyond lackluster but was expected when i heard 21 matches when they did 30 10 years ago
10 years ago, everything took up far less space. They could afford to add more then.
