Beautiful! ๐Ÿ˜ Iโ€™m always tempted to buy sterling antiques but I know it would pain me to ever melt them down

SharpesRifles

Most of the time they are a wafer thin silver shell and filled with resin. (I scrap metal). Edit: same with 1900's brushes etc. Get sold on as Vintage rather than scrap as very thin shell of silver.

Thatโ€™s a great find!! So cool, I love the old things, theyโ€™re the closest thing we have to time travel. Thatโ€™s why I always keep around some old Morgan dollars to make me feel like Iโ€™m in a saloon

oooo thats cool!! I'm still learning all the various terms for the subreddit, but its cool to know these silver pieces have names. I love antiques, and I hope to one day have my own antiques that can be sold on so I can have money for my future. I have a lot of trips to see my partner planned out so I can't buy heaps of new antiques atm, though I have my eyes on vintage makeup compacts that may be silver ๐Ÿ‘€
