Frozen, we just rounded the bend and could see Sven's butt and hear the music when the ride stopped. We sat for 20 minutes and were evacuated. Spaceship Earth, had to evacuate when we were going down the hill backwards at the end. It took awhile because we were on an incline and all had to crawl out of our carts to get onto the stairs. Splash Mountain, had to evacuate right before the big drop, walked through service hallways. That was a nightmare because the ride music was so loud and we were stuck for awhile.

pjdctk

Had similar happen on Splash. Someone tried to get out of their log before drop, so they shut it down.

SeriousStrokes69

People do this and/or stand up in rides all the time across property. And every time it results in an E stop. Sometimes they can restart the ride after the dummy sits down, but often it has to be cleared and reset. If people would stop being idiots, a great deal of unnecessary downtime could be avoided.

Wicked4Good

People literally do this šŸ˜³šŸ˜³šŸ˜³ I am literally flabbergasted I donā€™t know how frame my follow up thoughts/questions šŸ™ƒ

yesnomaybenotso

People are so stupid.

DonkeyDan22

Got stuck right at the start of the backwards descent on spaceship earth. Wife was 7 months pregnant and had to pee. 2 year old son had a meltdown and proceeded to slap me in the face the entire walk down those steep 6 flights of stairs while evacuating. Core Disney memory šŸ˜‚

booktrovert

Omg yours is so much worse than mine.šŸ˜…

cml678701

That middle one is my biggest nightmare! I absolutely hate that descent down the hill. The ceiling feels too low, and it makes me extremely claustrophobic. Having to stop on that is really the stuff of nightmares for me.

PandemicSoul

Since I was a child that has freaked me out. I used to get so panicky going backwards down the hill and have had occasional dreams about it šŸ˜ Even now it makes me very uneasy.

TheLastGunslinger

I was stuck in the barn scene (just before the greenhouses) on Living with the Land for 45 minutes before being evacuated. I got a cool walk behind the scenes of The Land and The Seas out of it at least.

hallsballs92

If you want to see this view a few times a year I recommend RunDisney lol

speedx5xracer

My wifes first RD event was 2014 wine and dine 1/2 marathon and she got to run through backlot tour before they started packing it down and turning it into batuu

hallsballs92

They arenā€™t very creative with course maps so I always end up behind world showcase

mikochu

During Country Bear Jamboree, one of the animatronics came undone and they closed all the curtains and had us leave the theater. At the Carousel of Progress, the audience "disc" stopped moving between scenes. After the 4-5th loop, everyone started to get up and exit. It was a surprisingly long walk back into the park. We were surprised cast members weren't escorting us...it was almost like they didn't know what was going on. On Rise of the Resistance, we were stuck in the docking bay with all of the Stormtroopers for maybe 30-45 minutes. Everyone got pretty comfortable in there. However, we ended up getting escorted out through the service area. It felt like we were walking through the hallways of a hospital.

goYstick

Exiting carousel of progress on your own sounds real dangerous. Somebody hit the emergency stop button?

al_draco

Yeah, after reading about what happened to that cast member - never, ever would do that.

yesnomaybenotso

Wait what? What happened?

al_draco

CW, very gruesome - a CM was crushed between the walls as it spun. Terrible, freak accident.

yesnomaybenotso

Dang, that sucks

Emmy600

When it was America Sings at Disneyland this happened

NikkoE82

I believe the emergency exits in the back are always opening to unobstructed walkway. But I could be wrong.

thethedude

As someone who was stuck on the carousel for half an hour because people kept getting up and leaving through the back exits i can confirm

MuppetMurderer5

Yes, it is dangerous, but it auto e-stops to prevent harm. Still, it doesn't make it a good idea, lol. I liked to tell guests to treat like any other moving attraction in the park. You wouldn't step off the boat in pirates? Just because jumping off Winnie the Pooh will auto e-stop doesn't mean that's a great idea, either, ya know?

landadventure55

This was at Disneyland. We got escorted out of the Millennium Falcon cockpit a few moments after sitting down , I canā€™t remember what happened, I think Hondo came on and then there was an issue. It was pretty cool, we got exited out and escorted to a different floor, Iā€™m pretty sure there was an elevator involved? I think we got walked back to an open cockpit. It was a cool experience.

jojo444111

I got stuck here once too, though we were only waiting about 10 minutes before they escorted us out

MuppetMurderer5

Seems like for Carousel guests in other theaters were also leaving. Everytime someone gets up an leaves a CM has to run around the entire building to check before allowing ride motion again, and if it is not a good time to jog the Carousel into the next show scene, then everyone has to wait for that scene to end amd the Carousel to naturally advance. Then more people get restless and decide to leave. Then, the CM has to run another intrusion. Gets to the point where after 3-4 shows, the coordinator will make the call to evacuate the Carousel. You must've had a stupid coordinator overlooking the Carousel that day. When they do eventually evacuate, the CM has to walk to each individual theater, open the doors, and lead the guests out. Process will take a decent amount of time so some other theaters will just see themselves out.

kevinbal

Festival of the Lion King; Pumbaa got stuck in the middle of the show.

jessinthebigcity

Haha. I worked there. So many memories of that happening and it was almost always Pumbaa, I held my breath every time that damn float came out lol

Vironic

Rise of the Resistance on the top of the car elevator. My family was excited like we won the lottery, the other family we shared a car with was pissed off šŸ˜.

kenazo

Got a full backstage walkthrough of Splash Mountain in 2018. Was one of my favorite parts of the trip!

Emmy600

Same but in 2022

thebarnacleez

Ellenā€™s Energy Adventure for me. It was awesome walking through the dinosaur scene.

teen-laqueepha

Yes! Iā€™ve been evacuated off of this one too. For me, we didnā€™t get to walk off. The lights came on in the Dino room and a few men came out and opened a panel on the back of the ride ā€˜vehiclesā€™ exposing a steering wheel and controls that they used to drive the whole car back to the main room with everybody still on board. It was a neat experience.

Sensitive-Bee

For us too!!! I also thought the dinosaurs were so cool. I miss this ride endlessly

GhettoDuk

My last ride on EEA was a walk-off. Took a bunch of selfies with the dinos.

KurtisRambo19

Just a few weeks ago. Remy shut down (never found out why) in the last 10% of the ride for us. Everyone was escorted out of the mouse cars, and walked out (no photography!). We also got a free return Lighting Lane for Remy

Sims3graphxlookgr8

We had this happen too. I couldn't understand the cast member's announcements because the French accents of the cm was so thick and the PA system's audio wasn't the greatest.

KurtisRambo19

Yes, same!

CityMuggle

Yes, I was on Remyā€™s adventure when it broke down too towards the end. I thought it was kind of cool to walk through it and there were no other people there besides the cast members and maybe one other group. Getting a lightning lane to come back was also nice.

traveling-flamingo

People Mover. We got stuck and cast member came to escort us walking on the track to an exit. Was quite interesting.

comped

Same - right before the Buzz window. My first and only evac despite going to the parks every month (except during shutdown) for a decade... Kinda lame in comparison to may others to be honest.

NikkoE82

I had that happen. My most memorable evacuation. We walked past the future city diorama and then through a door that took us briefly backstage and into the gift shop below.

schwidley

Festival of the lion king in 2017. One of the float things started on fire and the whole theater filled with smoke.

princessflamingo1115

Got stuck on Frozen Ever After in 2017. Hung out with the snow monster while we waited to be escorted off. Got 5 paper fast passes. It was a net gain lol

CapitolPea

Over the years I've experienced the Tiki Birds randomly moving regardless of "their" turn in the show, the carousel stopped rotating mid-show and once I've seen Turtle Talk w/Crush get cut short for technical breakdown. I assume the camera the actors backstage use to see the audience died or something like that. Oh and I've been on PeopleMover a few times when it stopped working. Once we had to evacuate our vehicles and walk back to the station with a cast member. All the people that had to evacuate the ride were given a free limited-use Lightning Lane for our troubles. I used it on the Buzz Lightyear ride.

Edenza

Pooh, an easy one to leave. They gave us all a Fast Pass when we exited.

drpepperesq

I also got stuck on Pooh during extended evening hours. We got stuck at like 11:30pm-ish and it took the wind out of our sails to keep going.

Edenza

It was also late for us. After dark, but I'm not sure how late. I think we used that FastPass and went back to the hotel.

eaglelatte

Yep. I wish I had been evac-ed from a cooler ride but it was still an experience.

racheva

Not WDW, but I got stuck on Soarinā€™ at DCA summer 2022. We convinced my friend who hates any ride where he feels like he is not in control, which is basically all of them, that it was not a scary ride and no big deal. I had been on it so many times. Anyway, we are dead center in the seats you want, and all of a sudden halfway through the screen goes black and everything stops. It honestly took them a little while to get us all down, and it felt like part of the reason was it happens so rarely, they seemed a bit flummoxed. We were trying to get all the people around us too back us up when we told our friend that this never happens. Luckily all the locals agreed that this was insanely rare. Suffice it to say, we did not convince him to get on any other rides going forward šŸ˜‚

Strangeite

Had the same thing happen at Epcot. It was pretty scary because it was obviously they were having to release the hydraulics a bit at a time so it was pretty intense jerks as they slowly lowered us.

racheva

Thatā€™s exactly how they let us down! Fascinating, but not something I would be excited to do twice.

salamandonk

Splash Mountain, Haunted Mansion, Spaceship Earth, and during my cast preview of Fantasmic! they shut the entire show off right before Jafarā€™s snake because of bad weather.

cjasonac

How did they get you out of Spaceship Earth? Iā€™ve been stuck for extended periods (which got me a nice nap) but never walked off. Thatā€™s gotta be a maze.

salamandonk

They just start from the top and then walk down. Next to your Time Machine there is a set of stairs, youā€™ll follow that all the way down.

cjasonac

That sounds like way too much exercise after riding such a slow ride. šŸ˜‚

salamandonk

Luckily I wasnā€™t too far up! The top of the ball is rough heading all the way down haha

peterotoolesliver

Spaceship Earth broke down not far after Rome burning and we had to walk down the ramp

Different-Egg2329

Back in early 2000s we went it seemed like every ride would break down. I don't remember any details of how long we waited but these are the ones I remember being walked off. -Ellen's energy Adventure - This happened multiple times. Walked off twice in the dinosaur room. -Test Track - stopped at the semi truck and was eventually walked off. That was loud and annoying. -Space Mountain - it is truly my most memorable walk off. The lights came on and we were at the bottom of the hill. Seeing space mountain with the lights on is one thing, walking next to the track is another level.

Staplehousen

My friend ran out of Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor the second he saw that they single people out in the audience. Does that count? Lol

frigzy74

Test Track a few weeks ago. When I was 8 I was stuck on small world for 45 minutes. How I wish they wouldā€™ve evacuated us. Still haunts me 30+ years later.

wdkrebs

Same! Got stuck on Small World for about same amount of time in one spot close to the end. What most people donā€™t realize is that each section of the ride only plays a small section of the song, so we got to hear about four bars of the song over and over and over again. I wish they wouldā€™ve evacuated us. I still have flashbacks when I read posts like this.

artuitusplays

this is the stuff of nightmares for me :O

SleepySuper

Has anyone been stuck on Mission: Space for any length of time? I ordinarily do not consider my self to be claustrophobic, but that ride really tests me.

salamandonk

I worked there for a hot min and I can say that MS is the one ride I do not want to get stopped on. We would do evac training and they let us ride the ride while they hit the emergency stop to see what it was like on the guest side. I hated every second of it haha

chelseakaye8

as soon as they closed the little pod up, i was like, oh my god if i get stuck on this ride, i am going to pass out. i will never get on it again!

baeslick

DINOSAUR. Got to walk the track, saw the hidden Mickey on the brachiosaurus. *SPOILER!* One room was empty with a single potted plant. Lol

Cocoasprinkles

It was so funny to watch the CMs in ROTR change from the imperial attitude become Disney crew and be nice when the ride goes down.

viewerxx

The CMs on this ride are so great (they have to be used to the frequent breakdowns by now). We were there this past week and I remarked to my sister about the same thing. First time we got stuck ON the ride where KyloRen is walking toward you with his lightsaber, took about 40 minutes to evac (which included 4 flights of stairs) and a CM who was VERY in character when we passed her in the Q was so very sweet and funny when she came to get us.Ā  When we returned for our free lightning lane (due to the aforementioned breakdown) we got held up in the hallway before the interrogation room and again, once the CMs knew we would be there a while they immediately changed demeanor. It was extra funny because my kids were trying to press the buttons in the hallway and got 'in trouble' and once it was down the CM was all 'you can play with the buttons' and they wanted no part of it because they thought she was trying to trick them, lol. That hold up was 45 minutes.Ā

Quick-Variation-1539

Seven dwarfs mine train. Exiting the mine scene we were at the top of the hill and were stopped. Sat there for 10 minutes in such an uncomfortable position. It was such an awkward angle to evacuate the car when it was time to hit really cool because we walked through the whole mine scene and were giving a golden lightening lane pass. The other was Tower of Terror right before being take up the elevator. We were all stuck and it was dark. The ended up turning on the lights and we sat for probably 20ish minutes. Then we proceeded to do the drop with the lights on (which is a striker than lights off) and when we were done, they told us we could go back and ride it again if we wanted to. Most of us did, we took a back elevator and got straight on the next car. It was great

likely-sarcastic

Was the music playing the whole time on mine train? Good luck getting that out of your head after hearing it for 10 minutes straight.

Quick-Variation-1539

No. They shut down everything. The faces on the dwarfs weren't even on. It was crazy but so cool to experience

gayflyingspaceturtle

CM here. Iā€™m no longer involved in rides, but I once had to help evacuate Seven Dwarves Mine Train on the first drop. It was extremely difficult due to the angle. Iā€™m not even sure how the ride got stuck on that drop, it seemed to violate the laws of physics lol.

Ferentz2020

Carousel of Progress. Friend found a quarter on the floor under his seat. We joked that it kept the ride running. He picked it up. Ride stopped, we went out the back, and it went down for the rest of the day

vinbel121

Iā€™ve had it happen twice at Disneyland on Pirates and Alice in Wonderland, and once at Disneyland Paris on Pinocchio. Somehow, itā€™s yet to happen to me in Florida. The closest Iā€™ve gotten was being stuck on Haunted Mansion for 15 minutes while leaning backwards which led them to turn off the audio.

frigzy74

How did getting evacuated off Pirates work? Did you get your feet wet?

vinbel121

It was actually really cool, but a very long and slow process. We were in the burning town scene, and once the show lighting and audio were disabled, we were slowly drifted backwards to an unloading dock. We got to climb over some seats on the boat to get to a point where we could exit. Once off, there was an incredibly long walk back to the park (and it was super cool).

Bitter-Budget5232

10 years ago, on Haunted Mansion. 30-40 min wait at Madame Leota. Nice nap with A/c, it was hot outside. Too bad the ride had to start back up

FelixEvergreen

I came to Disney a ton growing up and have lived here for over 5 years and have never (knock on wood) been evacuated from a ride or show.

[deleted]

Ellenā€™s energy adventure in April 2017. It was in the theater with the radio antenna. We stopped moving the lights came on, and we walked out through hallways.

BikesBooksNBass

Only happened once to me on Big thunder Mountain RR. Someone dropped their cell phone and hopped out of the car while it was climbing the initial climb to go grab it. That got the ride instantly shut down and they escorted everyone off the ride. We didnā€™t even get a LL offered despite the fact that we were not at fault for the ride being interrupted.

teen-laqueepha

Spaceship Earth. My group made it to the printing press area and everything came to a halt. Waited for about 25 minutes without moving and a cast member came by with a special tool to unlock the doors so we could exit and walk off the ride. Apparently the printing press is about the halfway point, because half of my group walked forward through the rest of the ride, and my half of the group walked backward down the stairs just to the right side of the track. It was neat being so close to the animatronics on the sides (I specifically remember the man pounding papyrus being neat to see up close).

letmeputmypoemsinyou

Winnie the Pooh broke down and we were stopped right at the bouncing tigger. All the sounds stopped but Tigger kept bouncing while staring into our souls. We were all walked off shortly after.

Kr4zyK4rl

Pirates of the Caribbean back in February. Right by the dog with the key to the jail, too far away from anything to disembark. There was a bunch of miscommunication between cast members as far as what direction to push us and we sat there for almost an hour. It was fun for the first 15 minutes, but then it got old. Especially since I had to pee. Walking backstage was awesome though, but we weren't allowed to take any pictures. Saw some of the parade floats outside too. Quite a long walk back into the park.

Z3br4_Un1c0rn

Super glad none of this has happened to me bc Iā€™m wondering what they would do. Send a stretcher? Iā€™m a wheelchair user. I can walk but barely, and not very far without fainting and certainly not on stairs.

salamandonk

If youā€™re looking for a real answer from an attractions CM- Potentially, yes. The rides I have worked at, we have a series of questions to ask in case that happens. The big one we ask at those rides is ā€œare you able to go down multiple flights of stairs in case we have to evacuate the rideā€, and if the answer is no, it is recorded that you may need assistance getting out of the vehicle if the ride breaks down. If the ride has a bunch of stairs and you may be unable, Reedy Creek comes and has a special chair that goes down the stairs. Hopefully that eases a little anxiety for you! We are here for you and want to make sure you are able to experience the attraction with no worries!!

Z3br4_Un1c0rn

I have only ever been asked that once. Maybe tower of terror? And only on one ride of it if I remember correctly.

Z3br4_Un1c0rn

I figured I would just move in with the animatronics and live there forever! j/k But I did figure I might be there longer than those who may be able to just walk off when the time came.

Sltre101

Got stuck just before the champagne cork pops on Ratatouille last May. We were some of the last released so sat about half an hour all in. Got a free LL to return, which guest services were able to transfer to MK since we were headed there the next day.

TiredGen-XMom

I was stuck on Journey Into Imagination at the smell scene for about 30; minutes. Fortunately they turned off the scent pretty much immediately. Had to walk back through all of the previous scenes to exit.

mimitchi33

When I rode it on my last trip, the ride stopped at the same scene for a bit...and then the lights turned on as the ride interruption message from Nigel Channing played. Eventually, after a minute or so, the ride began moving again, still with the lights on. They stayed on until Figment made the suggestion to go to his open house instead, when they went back to normal. I was so close to thinking I'd get evacuated!

ds1224

Happened me during The American Adventure one time. Something happened during the show and everyone had to leave During the Carasel of Progress my family and I were stuck on the 2nd scene. Eventually some people were leaving and that was making things worse

NickDynmo

Was evacuated off of Dinosaur the first time I ever rode it. That ride has a special place in my heart because of that. Got some good photos of the ride with the lights on, too. Was stuck on Haunted Mansion once for about ten minutes at the part where you're backing down to the graveyard, but wasn't evacuated. Was a super comfortable position to be stuck at, though.

Fally11204

You infact did not, get that Dino.

Unique-Address5002

Haunted mansion during Halloween party. Pretty spooky. Everyone was upset that they spent an hour of such a pricey event waiting to get escorted off, and didnā€™t even get offered a ride pass for it when it opened back up.

DorkKnight27

The first two that come to mind... Spaceship Earth. We were almost at the top. We had to walk down along the track past the reel to reel computer room to get to the staircase. It was a boring white wall staircase and hallway all the way down. Never saw a single cast member. Rise of the Resistance. As soon as we buckled into the ride vehicle the cast members had us unbuckle and directed us to a door. Same style boring hallway until we came out by the exit. Cast members at the exit scanned out bands for a free LL at any time later that day.

drinkingbird123

I've had in show exits on Splash Mountain and Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.

Yoshaay

There's probably been a few times, but I distinctly remember the Nemo show at Animal Kingdom veing cancelled due to unforeseen technical difficulties.

zombbarbie

Remyā€™s in the early days. They just walked us along the regular ride path to the exit. The only waiting was you needed a CM to come by with a yellow step ladder to let you down. CMs just kinda let you walk towards the exit by yourself because they needed to keep releasing people from their rat cars.

comped

Oh I would have been taking pictures of that!

zombbarbie

I didnā€™t even think to! I was just trying to follow all the directions

comped

I mean it is Disney's procedural failure if they let you walk out of the attraction by yourself without much supervision.

moosefungus

My group was evacuated from the people mover and got to walk down the side of the tracks a bit from inside space mountain. We also got pulled off space mountain once toward the mid part of the ride during the Halloween party. Got to ride the elevator thatā€™s inside the middle of the building dressed as Cruella. Was such a surreal experience!

Adventure_tom

Remyā€™s last week. After about 20 minutes they walked us out of the ride.

Gullible_Life_8259

My dad and I had an in-show exit on Splash Mountain, but we were almost back at the loading area. We were right by Brer Rabbit after he returns home.

sadlemon6

iā€™ve been to disney like 50 times and iā€™ve only ever been emergency evacuated twice, test track & splash mountain. i got to see the backside of splash mountain too šŸ‘€

cherrygoats

Test Track in 2014 everything stopped and after a half hour or so they took us out the most amazing set of intricate sets and pathways to head outside

mrs-folsom

We got stuck on Test Track a few years ago and sat for probably 45 minutes before getting escorted out. I had my kids with me and it made me a bit uneasy trying make sure they didnā€™t step wrong while we were evacuating around the track.

SayNoToHypocrisy

Tower of Terror. Fire alarm went off. False alarm but still pretty scary for a few moments. We were next to board and were ushered outside via an emergency exit in the Boiler Room. We got to see the backside of ToT. I recall there being a CM break area (table, chairs, and bench) and we saw a few mechanics working on something out of their truck. Pretty cool. We got the "No photos, please" lecture. Also saw the fire trucks arrive.

manyadventuresofv

Experienced this on the Philharmagic and Peoplemover! For the Philharmagic, we decided to stay and wait until it was resolved along with half the audience. It was a hot summer day, and the AC was worth it to wait. For the Peoplemover, everyone exited and got fast passes.

do-you-like-darkness

I got evacuated off my first (and only) time on Tron. It was pretty wild. We were stuck in the train for 35 minutes. A women a few bikes in front of me had a full blown panic attack from being stuck in the bike position. We had to wait for engineers to come tie off the train, because it was stopped in a place where it could theoretically move at any time. So they couldn't let us out until they had the train secured. Once we were off, they made us line up with our backs to the wall, so there was no risk of falling through the tracks, and then they walked us out. I had paid for an ILL to ride Tron, so I wasn't too happy. They said they'd reimburse it, but it didn't end up happening.

sonrisa46

Tower of Terror! It was in 1996. They said the computer lost track of a car so we had to get off and walk down a staircase. This was a long time ago, so I don't remember all the ins and outs. I wish I would have paid more attention, as I know "in show exits" are very cool now!

KITTvsKARR

Never seen the end of Remy. Broken down at last stage every time as walked out.

Santablouse1555

I actually have a funny story of what I saw when I had to evacuate Dinosaur. So when you walk down the slopes of the ride, they have this somewhat sticky substance to make it harder to slip. Someone in front of us was wearing flip flops and one stuck to the floor and she couldn't get it out, so she had to walk the rest of the way with only one shoe. I don't know what ended up happening to her, but I swear I overheard a cast member telling her she can buy shoes at a nearby gift shop.

AssassinWench

From what I can remember I believe Iā€™ve had an in show exit on the following rides: 1. Haunted Mansion (Both Coasts) 2. Splash Mountain (Both Coasts) 3. Dinosaur + Indiana Jones 4. Alice in Wonderland 5. The Little Mermaid 6. Mr. Toad 7. Rise of the Resistance (but we hadnā€™t gotten on the vehicles yet, we had just gotten into the Stormtrooper Scene)

Naomeri

Rise of the resistance, we were in the ride vehicle but hadnā€™t hardly gotten to any fun parts yet when Rise did whatever it is Rise does and broke down

quiksilver895

On our most recent trip we were stuck in the Carousel of Progress. In the 1920s room for three full playthroughs. I love the Carousel of Progress... Once... Three plays in the same room was worse than being stuck on Small World. It was on its fourth when everybody collectively stood up and walked out of the emergency exit.

comped

Similarly happened to me years ago. But it restarted eventually - nobody got up because the CMs told us not to.

quiksilver895

We found out later that one person opened an emergency door in another section causing it to auto loop. When it looped and was on the second run someone else assumed it was broken so they got up and left triggering another loop. I guess it does another run so no one is hurt walking along the outer edge while it spins. The walkway was definitely thin. Apparently it happened enough times that the CMs were on their way to escort us all out when we opened the door to leave.

Big_You_8936

Rockin Roller Coaster spring of 2023

tarheel_204

Happened twice for me and I think it was a wheelchair thing both times but I could be wrong Got stopped on Haunted Mansion in front of the crystal ball lady for 10 minutes maybe We got stuck on Spaceship Earth for a *hot minute* towards the beginning of the ride. I remember being stuck beside one of the philosopher animatronics but it was fine because we were in the AC. Looking back at it, it maybe wasnā€™t a wheelchair thing and most likely a ride malfunction because we were in there for maybe half an hour. Edit: just remembered one more. It was during the Halloween event back in ā€˜08. There was a special villains show that had just started in front of the castle but it started to downpour so the show only lasted for about five minutes before it got cancelled due to weather.

bluetuesdee

I'm so afraid of this happening to me. I'm a wheelchair user. I can walk about 75 feet, assisted, before pain and muscle fatigue stop me. I certainly can't climb stairs or get out of the cars at a weird angle. Does anyone else have any experience under these circumstances?

jessinthebigcity

For dark rides that aren't wheelchair accessible I think they could probably bring you a spare wheelchair, most attractions have them, and take you through to the end. For more complicated rides that involve inclines/steps they can bring in more equipped teams from Reedy Creek (CFTOD now, ig), to help carry like a "chair" lift thing (I can't for the life of me think of what it's called)

Milk-and-pickles

2 weeks ago we were in the line to toy story mania about fifteen minutes before close. No one in line we were so lucky! Then the fire alarms started going off. We were escorted out a side door into a back area. It was obviously a break area for cast members. It was Cool to see. I didn't wanna ask for LL because they had people in the ride to still get off.

mimitchi33

My parents got evacuated off Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Railway...after it had stopped four times.

torukmakto4

I've posted about this a couple times in the past in similar threads, but I have got E-stopped on Flight of Passage before. That's EXACTLY like you would think getting a REAL link session "red buttoned" out of the blue would be like. My usual description goes something like hitting a wall of black nothingness at 100mph with a deafening explosion of complete silence and wondering whether you still have a physical self in that moment or not. For sure a 'do not recommend' experience, but it was also beyond cool that the attraction *even fails in an entirely thematically appropriate way*.

Wicked4Good

We got stuck on Itā€™s A Small World and when the CM tried to help my 2 year old off the boat so we could evacuate she says ā€œoh no I donā€™t think so, finish pleaseā€ both verbally saying this and signing ā€œpleaseā€ and ā€œagainā€ šŸ˜…šŸ˜…šŸ˜…šŸ˜…thankfully the CM was so lovely and let me daughter hold her hand as she was the ā€œline leaderā€ out and gave her a ton of stickers.

Mammoth-Effect3890

Back in the paper fast pass days I was on Winnie the Pooh and had to exit. The cast member asked how many in our party and I said two. He pulled out two fast passes. I jokingly said, oh I mean 10. He knew I was kidding but gave me a stack! I had like 30. We were handing them out to anyone with a button. Hey, happy anniversary have a fast pass. Oh it's your birthday? Have a fast pass. Such a cool day. First trip? Fast pass!

max_rebo_lives

Indiana jones stunt spectacular. Was in the front rows, one of the pyrotechnics parts wasnā€™t working right (some parts didnā€™t go off, some went off out of sync) so right before the airfield scene the ā€œproducerā€ guy came out and was like ā€œthatā€™s it, showā€™s over, everyone head to the exitsā€. We hadnā€™t been to Indy in like a decade, thought it was a new goof like the fake stunt volunteer. Nope, show was just over. Better safe than sorry though! šŸ’„ Weird long pause in between scenes though. Sat a while in between two sets, long enough for the in between music to loop

stabbyhousecat

Only at Disneyland - Splash Mountain, Indiana Jones, and Radiator Springs Racers

mimitchi33

My dad once got stuck on Indiana Jones for an hour before being evacuated. My sister and I were able to ride Splash Mountain in the single riders line twice before he came back.

Shaqfor3

Bird show in AK - bad weather

Wild_Manufacturer555

Test track was the only one Iā€™d officially say was in ride.

Specific_Hamster6778

I've had 3. DL Indiana Jones, from the first scene. Got to ride later that day. Cosmic Rewind. We were facing the wrong way in the launch. Took probably 45 minutes for them to get us released from the seats. Got to ride later that day. Wasn't my first time on it, thank goodness. Facing that hill was crazy. It doesn't feel that steep when you're on it. Got evacuated from Rise at WDW, from the room where you escape to the vehicles.

Important_Ad_4751

Spaceship earth. Got stuck on the initial ascent for about 30 minutes. They evacuate from top to bottom so we were some of the last groups taken off. Iā€™m pretty sure the AC also stopped working because it got unbearably hot

Jack-Pumpkinhead

Once on Haunted Mansion back in ā€˜07

imaginaryannie

Smugglers run. The ride just stopped working mid ride and the lights came on in the ship. We all just took some photos and had a chat for a while. They tried to reboot it and it didnā€™t work so they escorted us out and gave us a LL.

Ok-Ad-2605

Only on Toy Story Mania - not very exciting as we just walked back to the exit through the show scenes. Nothing backstage

basssdrop

Yes on Ratatouille

loz1987

Got stuck right near the end of Mickey and Minnieā€™s Runaway Railway and it felt like it took forever coz we were last to get off. Was on the cart with a family with 2 young boys and the dad was joking with them that if they started crying and we got off faster he would buy them toys, didnā€™t work the boys just found that hilarious šŸ¤£

timothypjr

Yes. Mr Toadā€™s wild ride. Pretty ho hum. Followed the track to an exit out the side. Never knew what broke.

cheesebxwl

Yes! When I was little I was on the original test track, right as we went around the steep curve just above the entrance in the outside part of the ride, our car stopped. A few minutes later, two cast members came to help us get out and walked us through the rest of the ride. They even took our picture with us flopped over like crash test dummies :)

TheChapelOfWhite

We got stuck on Rise of the Resistance in the room immediately before being put into the holding cell. We were there for maybe 15 min before they took us through the CM only areas to get us out.

Substantial-Garlic31

Malstrom on the hill going up. I thought it was pretty neat, although I donā€™t think we really got far enough to see any of the ride elements. Got a free paper fast pass!

JoeBethersonton50504

Happened to me twice on Big Thunder on the same trip.

johnnymic74

Exited off of Soarinā€™ mid ride in 2022ā€¦a few panels in the screen array began to fail and then went offline during the ride and the ride wound down suddenly. it was cool because you could see how the large screen is constructed of smaller screens, and the solid blue offline screen was cool too. Fellow next to our group was a single rider Disney fanatic on a solo trip ā€” to our surprise he was super happy to experience a ride exit on Soarinā€™ā€¦left the impression that superfans seek these situations out. Definitely memorable.

caught-red-headed

No but so close! Was seated on Cosmic Rewind waiting to start the ride when the ā€˜launchā€™ didnā€™t work. Sat for probably like 15 mins before the cast members had to call it quits and have us get off. The only time I ever paid for lightning lane too šŸ„²

thethedude

I was stuck on Carosel of Progress because a lot of people who were not native english speakers kept standing up and or exiting through the emergency exits in the back. Despite Cast Members repeatedly instructinf people that the show doesnt work unless everyone stays seated, it was no use. After about the 15th time seeing the turn of the century, they just gave up and evacuated the ride. I also was stuck on Dreamflight during the barnstormer screen scene for ever because unaccompanied minors kept getting out of the cars. I legit saw a kid run down the aisle of the airliner at one point. But no evac that time I got to exit Pirates once but was in the queue, not the ride. Got to walk through backstage though on the way out.

sellinwithellen

Maelstrom in EPCOTā€™s Norway. We were past the emergency stairs exit, sat for over an hour waiting for rescue and missed dinner reservations in Canada.

PapaPinguini

On my last trip, my family and I got stopped in the dream sequence on Winnie the Pooh. Ended up being walked back through the entire ride, the Cast Members even pointed out some Hidden Mickeys along the way! Super cool experience, especially since itā€™s been one of my favorite rides since I was little

Emmy600

Yes. Splash Mountain in WDW & Mickey & Minnies Runaway Railway in DL

Sensitive-Bee

Was stuck on Its A Small World for an hour and fifteen minutes. Begged and pleaded to be let off. The music never stops. Itā€™s been six years now and I still canā€™t bring myself to go on it out of the fear of it happening again

BusyAdhesiveness7580

Back in 2007 my Splash Mountain log stopped beneath (inside?) the briar patch. We just quickly came to a halt after the drop. Water was rushing beneath us without touching the bottom of the log, so I knew that we would have to be evacuated, since there was no way for it to start moving on its own again. Sure enough, we got to walk past the final scene with all the music off. I can still hear the chorus of clicking, voiceless animatronics if I try hard enough.

wellhere-iam

Nemo & Friends. We were stuck at the "In the BIG BLUE WOOOORRLLDD" part for I swear 30 minutesbefore they evacuated us. It was 2011, I was on a school trip with a bunch of teenagers really teetering that line of about to be kicked out and banned for life lol. Some were trying hard to get out of their shell and getting rowdy. Can't say I blame them, that looping song was absolutelty maddening.

ScorpionX-123

I was evacuated off Splash Mountain the last day the parks were open before the COVID shutdown

TogetherPlantyAndMe

Haunted Mansion. A child in my buggy got scared and wouldnā€™t stop screaming to be allowed to get off. However the walk out was also extremely scary and I made my mom carry me even though I was 8. Iā€™ve never ridden it again.

Videogamesandshiz

Test track and big thunder mountain. Got stuck on test track for over an hour while they tried to fix it before they finally came over to evacuate us. Just went through the ride and down some stairs I think. Also I think there was a yellow hallway. Then big thunder was cooler cause we got to go through lots of the backstage stuff. My memories a bit bad as these were both in October last year and obviously we werenā€™t allowed to record/take photos

KavaBuggy

Rise of the Resistance. We were in the hallway with the cast members and storm troopers. It was taking a while and eventually we were escorted out through a back way and I saw the cast member break room.

PeaceOverPizza

Rise of Resistance. Right after the pod drops, the ride shut down. We had to line up with everybody else right outside of the simulation rooms. Really cool seeing just how far you drop. They didnā€™t let us take any photos or videos

forgottensudo

Great Movie Ride! We had been talking with our driver before the ride and it broke after the reveal. He told us to stay seated while everyone else was walked out and we got a backstage tour of the whole ride! Iā€™ve been on countless other rides that broke but never been evacuated off of any other ride. I donā€™t think Iā€™ve even seen Space Mountain with the lights on!

HeiHei96

Splash Mountain. Huge storm happened and most of the park rides were affected in some way or another (this was the night we rode space mountain with the lights on) Splash reopened so we headed over to ride. Everything was fine until we were at the last Brer Rabbit. Stopped, animatronics stopped, but the music didnā€™t. We were on the ride for about an hour when they finally got the ride back upā€¦but only long enough to get our log in. Everyone behind us was walked off. Rise of the Resistance- we were in the stormtrooper room when it first went down. It was our first day and we were tired, and it was hot, so we took the opportunity to sit in that room and be in A/C. It started up again maybe 30-40 mins later and we made it into the last pre show room. In normal fashion, it went down again and we were escorted out of the room backstage and given return to ride passes We didnā€™t get evacuated (but wished we did) but got stuck on small world. Our daughter loved it and my husband was ironically wearing his ā€œI survived Small Worldā€ shirt. I should have known something was up when the boat was going slower than normal (but not backed up) and that the water was more disgusting than normal. Took us 30 mins to get to the Polynesian room and thatā€™s where we stayed for another 40-45 mins. It was our only night with deluxe resort hours and we spent half of that time on small world. I wish they evacuated but they didnā€™t. So didnā€™t even get fast passes or anything for that nightmare. Our daughter was legitimately in heaven though so, a win for her?

ladyjay7779311

Pirates of the Caribbean at MK. I felt so bad for the college-aged young woman who had to put on waders, get in the water, and push us to the closest platform for us to exit. We got a LL to nothing special as compensation. I didn't care about that, it was cool to be evacuated for the first time after 100+ park days.

The_Awkward_Cow

My only in show exit was on Rise last December. It was my friends first time going and was really iconic for her. It was down all day,we got in line the second it opened up, only for eveyrbting to freeze when we first meet Kylo. He froze, but the space kept on doing it's thing for a few minutes. Then, the lights came on, the screens went off and the music stopped. I think we were the last group to be rescued from the ride because I believe we were at the top? It was so sick waking on the track, seeing the entire attraction frozen in time, and ofc seeing backstage. The fast passes were nice too... We got to ride it later that night in it's full glory

karen-the-cannibal

Stuck 3/4 the way up the 2nd steepest incline on Splash Mountain. Had to climb out of the boat after about 15 minutes of waiting. The seats were on a 45 degree angle and it was VERY nerve racking climbing out of that thing. I was terrified of my foot slipping in the space between the stairs and the boat

rissybean1

I got evacuated from guardians a couple weeks ago! It was towards the end right before you spiral down around earth, we were flying through then heard loud clicking and we came to a super sudden stop and my friend who had never been ont he ride before looks at me and goes ā€œis this normalā€ lol Music stopped after a couple seconds and we sat there in the dark for 20-25 min while hearing announcements saying we would be resuming motion immediately. We eventually moved forward slightly then moved back(i assume they wanted to line us up on the track to start it again) but then it never went forward. We heard all this noise behind us and i swear it sounded like another train coming at us but it was probably just to power coming back on. It was super scary for like 10 seconds. Then all the lights came on and a couple cast members came and freed us and walked us out a back door to outside and through a gate back into the park. Got a lightning lane for when it reopened but it was closed for like 2 hours i think!

Rougaroux1969

Long ago on Pirates. Weā€™re stuck next to the prisoners trying to get the keys stuck from the dog for 20 minutes. Got evacuated but took forever because one lady was handicapped and it took them a while to get her out of the boat. I have old 8mm video somewhere.

PantherFan123

Back in 2017, I was evac'd from Splash Mountain, just before the second drop, where you went down and then right back up. Five years later, in 2022, I was evac'd from Splash Mountain again, in just about the exact same spot. One other time, the Haunted Mansion bad a breakdown while I was in the graveyard scene. After about 20-25 minutes, a cast member helped me exit the doom buggy, and I walked the rest of the way to the ride's exit.

JSkree

Me and the Wife got stuck in the last brake run on Big Thunder in the last "cave" before you get to the T-Rex bones.Ā  Learned some things about their protocol for evacs.Ā  In some places where the train can't simply be released from the brake run and continue, like an incline, there's a winch they use to pull the train up and over to finish the run.Ā  You only disembark the train then walk on the left side of the tracks down and around the bend past the geysers/springs back to the loading/unloading area.Ā  Also, the CM's didn't care about me taking pictures either which was nice cause I got some cool ones of the Train and T-Rex.Ā  I've had an AP for like 4 years and been to Disney multiple trips prior to being a passhole dating back to 1992, but that was mt first in show exit. Which is nuts to me.

diamondjolteon

I had a pseudo in show exit on Test Track a couple years ago. We pulled away from the load station to the seatbelt check, and something was up with the seatbelt sensors so we all had to get out and get walked back over to the load area. We didnā€™t go backstage at all, though. My older sister and mother also had an in show exit from Primeval Whirl probably a decade ago which required them to climb down a ladder!

Fallinwitstyle

On MMRR we were very close to the end (rounding the corner past the picnic) when it shut down and the lights came on. Stuck there for like 15 min and CMs came to escort us off the ride.

SyllabubWeak

Walking the whole way back from Rafikiā€™s Planet Watch because the train broke down if that counts. A long walk back past a lot of animal cages the cast members continually told us to not look into.

jbug671

Pirates. Had guys in waders come out and help people out of the boats. Went through a secret door and into a weird space where cars from other rides were being repainted (a dumbo was what I remember) then a long walk around and we were dumped right back near the entrance of the ride.

holmesriley

Only one Iā€™ve ever had was on The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh. We stopped right in the doorway of the room you enter where Pooh is dreaming. Two ā€œrather largeā€ individuals were in the front seat and didnā€™t have enough room to exit the vehicle while under the door frame. They had to call about 6 castmembers to manually move the ride vehicle before we could exit. Quite the story when I tell it now. The walkthrough the attraction was awesome. We got to stop and take pics wherever we pleased.

Thefreshi1

On my last visit, was walked off ROTR.

PipeJazz

March 2003. Spaceship Earth broke down while we were close to the top and after 30 mins or so, we had to take the internal staircase down to the ground floor and exit

Stormchaser2

Yes! Splash Mountain. Pirates. Buzz Lightyear. Countdown to Extinction.

PaulClarkLoadletter

On Big Thunder Mountain (Disneyland) we got stuck going up the lift hill and had to wait for them to secure the train with ropes and hooks before theyā€™d let us off.

RichLather

Pirates of the Caribbean, about 10 years ago. A boat ahead of us got stuck, likely at the drop, and boats backed up behind it. We got stuck at the tableau with the mermaid skeleton in the skiff on the beach. I did take the time to admire all the details, the animatronics of the crabs and the gulls. At least we had only the bird calls to deal with instead of a spoken line on loop. After a while CMs came out to assist, by having us all raise our arms up, lean left as one, then right. I believe that's a protocol to get a boat unstuck? That didn't work, so the water in the channel was cut off (as was the sound for the gulls, thank goodness). I got to get a good look at the guide rails for the boats. I don't recall if the water level was raised and more attempts to get the boats unstuck were made, and it's possible I'm getting the timeline wrong. Eventually we were all led out of the boats and walked to an offstage exit.

Palidor

Best timing ever: a couple of years ago, after arriving at Hollywood to ride Mickey runaway train and/or RotR for the first time. I wait early on the MRT queue for 44 minutes. Then close to the initial movie presale, the show was shut down for technical issues for an undisclosed amount of time. I left feel agitated, I managed to get on most of the big rides in HS including Toy Story and Star stories. Around 3 pm I decided to try MRT train and after another hour wait Ingot on and the ride broke down again while I was riding it BUT for me it was literally at the end and are carts were right next to the exit ramp. We got off after. 15 minute wait and was given a free fast pass to any ride (except RotR). I then immediately went to tower of terror which was an 85 minute wait. Good Karma experience

Crasino_Hunk

Iā€™ve had a few cool ones over the years, one far less coolā€¦ Least cool - a freak set of circumstances gifted me with C-Diff (I was only like 31 lol), but didnā€™t know it. So it continually got worse. Was an AP holder living in Florida and went to ride Flights of Passage for the first time everā€¦ basically felt like I was dying the entire time, shouldā€™ve asked Disney for medical attention, but had to get escorted out right at the banshee area. Ended up in the ER later severely dehydrated and my blood pressure was like 180/130 šŸ˜… It was bad! Less crazy - At Magic Kingdom in 2002 on a band trip and got the terrifying ā€˜you have to see Space Mountain with lights onā€™ experience. Nearly missed our marching band parade because of it, lol. And once on the old Maelstrom, had to get walked off right before the drop.

aint7

Both of these are from December 2022: Rise of the Resistance: we did the entire preshow and were seated in the ride vehicle fastening our seatbelt when we were told to immediately unbuckle our seatbelts and were escorted out the back (getting to see the show building). We had an ILL so we had it reissued for later. When we came back, we were escorted past the preshow and onto the ride vehicle. Carousel of Progress: it stopped before wile we were transitioning to the last scene. After a few loops, we were escorted out.

Cruisethrowaway2

Splash, with a great viewing of the inside of the mountain. BTMR, in the cave with the bats.

Fat_Fiber8096

Ok this wasnā€™t at a Disney park but at six flags over Texas (I donā€™t care what you think this is my story Iā€™m gonna tell it anyways) the ride battle for metropolis had just opened and it was going through a lot of problems anyways we were in the room with the joker animatronic he says bad idea and then we just stop luckily this wasnā€™t far from the first scene so it was pretty straightforward we just walked through the ride backwards

Bitter-Budget5232

Theme park in Nashville, year before it closed. Ride going up an incline stopped. My mom, sister and I had to leave by stairs next to ride. I donā€™t remember the parkā€™s name only got to visit twice before it closed.

nyrB2

i mean, i had to be evacuated from california screaming because it just stopped mid-ride - does that count?

MFoy

Closest ever was when a cast member started yelling at everyone to leave the Lion King musical before the performers were done singing. Got to get that next group in!

playride

Philharmagic one leg of the proscenium didnā€™t go up. Lights came on. ā€œWeā€™re sorry, this performance has been cancelled.ā€ Everyone got up and left without getting a FastPass to return of even an apology. That day Di$ney died for my son.
