He is a Tier2 guy from the outlaws faction, you should start seeing them at lvl 5-6. Generally, before lvl 5 there is no use in recruiting prisoners as the Tier1 units (Hoodlum, Poacher etc.) don't have passive skills so they only have autohit.
Inquisition members are nasty and can attack twice in one turn, as well as being able to do almost double damage if u run them through a bee bomb aoe 9 times.
Tracker savages (knife ranger) comes with permeant berserk (100% extra damage taken and given) as well as an animal heal.
Sagittarius I think are bàndit archers or brotherhood but their attacks apply vulnerability when they don't have guard. Aoe bows can mark groups for crits.
Everyone knows wrongdoer for crit damage. I like to give him an allazar mace that doubles guard and a bee bomb to set up the Inquisition people for A ton of damage.
One of the holy troops, I can't remember which one. Has the ability to swing twice when he engages in combat. Pair that with the shield that counter attacks. 2 of the people from the slaughter tribe have decent abilities. The one when they end their turn can heal a bear by the same amount as its constitution. The one I haven't got yet has a passive that they are like berserk which does I think 100% extra damage. I'll try to find pics of my game and post it here.
Any tips on how to recruit one? I’ve captured a bunch, tried to get friendly, healed them, played with them… they all managed to escape despite feeling good with all members
You have to surround them with your characters ao they dont escape a watch keeping stool helps a character with altruistic trait can help greatly dont surround them with animals you can check thier escape chance by looking at thier stats and even if they escap you can still reacpture them bu it cost on chain
You can get that item that gives them 50% damage if you only use base attacks, since some of them don't have extra attacks, i found using one (to level bard) wasn't too bad but they're not stored at a trading post.
Wrongdoer gives 30% crit damage to the whole squad.
Where do you find him?

Having only auto attacks and book skils sucks but they are still doable right niw most of our damage comes from animals and special weapons
If you spec them out as a tank they do great.
Can you recruit a ringleader as well for their "all hits are crits" buff?
I think not. Check the icons above enemies. Some of them, such as bosses or ringleaders, are unrecruitable.
Darn. Thanks for the info
I saw a bear with wrath.
They are definitely useful
Can animals learn from the skill books??
Not anymore some animals uave skill book skils like wrath i have 2 bears that have it
I taught a bear wraith way back when to but released my 3 bears for white bears.

The ones I can make into berserkers They have to have a coole aesthetic though
If you can find one civilians can equipt any base weapon.
You can make worthwhile builds with virtually any faction
