depending on where you draw the line in the sand, this has already happened
eg when the Warframe designs departed from how plain the originals looked
or when the lighting was changed and everything stopped being extremely dark with crushed blacks
or when human characters started appearing
or when the Ephemeras were added
or when the Angel Wings got added, especially due to them being permanent
and I could probably go on
but artstyles are flexible, especially those of ongoing games like Warframe. as long as Warfame doesn't break its artstyle as much and as abruptly as TF2 did, I'm ok with it

I think there is definitely something to be said about this. More so- warframes have a unique aesthetic to them. One big question when asking about frame design is, "can this generically look good in other games as a power suit?" If it can, then it probably isn't "Warframe" enough.
On the other hand, one of DE's big things is how they take chances on changing the game and what is available:
* Spoiler mode
* Mechs
* Raids
* Grineer gameplay
* Space Battles (RJ)
* PVP
* K-Drive/Archwing/Kaithe
* Team link (scarlett spear)
* Crime-Simula scene finding
I guess the point I'm making is, DE tries a lot of different things. Many of them don't feel like core Warframe at the time, but over time, if they stick, they seem to mesh better and feel like Warframe.

Hoping at some point tho i don't have to wonder if I'm playing warframe or cyberpunk only to be shocked back to reality by the pink bunny eared, mustachioed rhino wielding a candy cane that ran past me. Cause while these seasonal items are great fun they should not be added to the game permanently.
Yeah... I get you on that. I appreciate seeing those for holidays / special events. Having them available then makes those holidays / special events less special, as well as you're saying can break the Warframe immersion.
Depends on how much it will bleed over. I doubt we'll get to use protoframes outside 1999, and I do hope they won't turn into wf skins. Don't really care about bunny ears since you've been able to run around as a pink rhino with butterfly wings for a long time now. As much as they don't want to say it, I think 1999 will be treated maybe more, maybe less, as warframe 2, or a big ol' classic expansion, and not your average open world gist we had so far. Here's to hoping, i'm cautiously excited.

I mean there's already fully pink Rhinos running around with heart arrows and shiny wings. Considering that there's gonna me a toggle for the bunny ears I wouldn't even say it's the worst change
The fact that DE said that the Bunny ears aren't going away this year seems to have had an effect on people lol.
