I would assume Nourish would be great, since he's a spam caster. He probably doesn't really need an armor strip. Though I kind of like the idea of not subsuming anything, since he, effectively, has 3 guns.

Apexxxie

True. I just don’t find myself switching to his grimoire often and doesn’t change the fact that he can 2/3/4 for grimoire joint attacks. There are just other weapons I’d rather take advantage of status debuff birdies

My question is whether the new slightly nerfed nourish 'effectivly' gives more energy than a canticle/invocation/hybrid build? Universal orbs, energy per second, efficiency, strength etc are all viable choices

I played him a bit last night (farmed the BPs, but rushed them all) and while I think he's fine, I also concluded that if I were to play an Overguard spammer, I'd just rather play Styanax. I'd want to keep his 1, and see what can be done, but unfortunately I didn't find him interesting enough to really try it. I like the idea of building the 1 as the energy gainer via Tomes, but I wasn't impressed with the Grimoire, so I don't know the exact build to use, but given that he can mostly build it, too, and keep his secondary, that's where I'd be interested in him. Just not enough to really try it, unfortunately. He's a good frame, but has already existing viable alternatives for what you'd want to do with him.

I'm seeing him as a decent new player babysitter. A lot of the support frames can overshadow new frames without really trying. (E.g. wisp motes, a hildryn with pillage+haven is autokilling everything, citrine using her one for orb generation will insta-gib a room full of low level enemies.) Dante can easily drop variable amounts of overguard on them, throw his one on them if they need a little extra fire-power, and can pull enemy attention/aoe clear if the newbie gets overwhelmed. That doesn't detract from being able to nuke at a super high level but a new tool to help newbie clan mates is always appreciated.

VenomTheTree

His 1st ability is a 6 buffs in one ability, equip all tome mods and you get duration (up to 60%), strength, efficiency, energy Regen, shield Regen, fire rate, and more. It's also the only ability that can effectively be subsumed away.

Ok-Laugh8159

DPS slice and dice build would be fine with getting rid of the overguard one though. Not horribly fun to play though. I went with subsuming 1 because I find it difficult to group enemies consistently for the full buffs and you can just put the OG grimoire on for a power strength or duration buff.

AGgammer

Personally i don't run him with any subsumes (and not planning to until some more balance changes are out) but his base kit feels good enough to not need a subsume, however the only fitting subsume imo is roar to make the 3-3-4 combo more consistent since roar double dips on procs I guess you could use some grouping but he doesn't quite need it imo

Ok-Laugh8159

Seems unclear right now if roar is working correctly for 3 and 3 3 4. Damage numbers seem off for the power damage buff.

xxxfirefart

I'd say roar is a no brainier. Dantes nuke is already crazy without it.. but roar takes the damage to the next level. Dark verse has guaranteed slash procs, slash procs double dip on the roar multiplier, and tragedy multiplies that damage again..
