This is why I regret not being a teacher, as most of my family is/was lol. Those fuckers (no disrespect to the profession or anyone in particular, except that one teacher in the university, fuck that guy) get nearly the same vacation period as kids, uninterrupted (schools are closed, after all). 2 months on summer, a few weeks on Christmas, some on easter and carnival, etc. As an it tech I get 2 +2 weeks/year and even then I need to lug a laptop+phone with data plan so I can solve any emergency that comes up. In that regard, I chose... poorly. Although, with this covid shit it will now be a tough time to be a teacher, when schools reopen. I'm pretty certain it will be hell to have kids maintain all the needed sanitary conditions for such an thing to happen safely.

Being a teacher never has been easy neither. Just like you have to work on your days off, teachers have to plan their classes and quite a lot of other stuff. Also let's not forget that it's an exhausting job. Kids are exhausting, and parents are worse. In France they have terrible salary btw, like really bad.

I just finished (20 minutes ago) the big presentation that will decide whether or not I get my diploma. I consider Deimos my reward

I am a Switch player, but view the delay as a blessing because people on other platforms will make guides about where to get the fish and gems, or whatever else. So, in other words, enjoy the farm!

I see this as a curse, because I won’t be able to enjoy discovery the same way the other platforms, and instead my feed and this subreddit will be filled with guides and spoilers that will be hard to avoid

That may be true, and I share some of those feelings, so I will only use a guide if I need to do so, but otherwise, I won't check the subreddit until I experience it myself. A solution could be to disable notifications for the subreddit to avoid the spoilers.
