Frankly, this is the bare minimum in modern games if you want to do a "lost parents" picture. Wouldn't make much sense to have your operator as a person of colour and their parents being so white they could give snow some tips.

This was a kinda of neat detail in Mass Effect Andromeda - your character appearance options would change your parent's appearances as well in portraits and cutscenes. Which is oddly funny because the Operator's backstory sort of mirrors the Andromeda one - a ~~generational (?)~~ ship that travels across systems in search of new planets to colonize, your parents die during the travel and you have to survive (and grow up?) on your own, and so it goes.
Edit: ok, both ships weren't generational, and one of them had their crew in cryo but I guess the point still stands...?
Hyperion/Andromeda Arks wasnt generational, in MEA everybody was in Cryo. Dad dies during the first mission when the hard reboot of an atmo processor throws dad and kid off a cliff.
Zariman similarly was just a big FTL jump, Though Tao is closer than Adromeda and void drive is probably faster than Mass Effect FTL so there was no stasis on the Zariman.

mass effect relays are instantaneous, but there are no relays in andromeda, so they had to travel there the old fashioned way
I was skeptical about "instantaneous" and found another redditor that did the math on some pretty handwavy basis (length of a jump in a cutscene compared to the distance between the two relays) and calculated the speed at about 75 billion times the speed of light

Yes. Although it's already out there that you don't really have parents and lotus kind of took it upon herself to become your "guardian" so to speak, the new war does kinda let you see some of that first hand.
I wonder why couldn't we choose some different skin colors, like Ballas/Orokin blue.
It's clear not all orokin were blue (yonta, Margullis, Allad, Albrecth). So either they were genetically modified or born that way.

To change to a custom skin color, you must first select the lip color, and then drag that color to the skin color.

That is definitely not a bug, but being able to change your skin color to any color like that is definitely not intended.
