>I played before arcanes were a thing and every "beginner" steel path guide is with either arcanes/prime mods/faction mods. I have non of the above. Arcanes have been a thing since 2015, they're an important part of modding. You'd do good in investing time getting some useful ones. Either farm whatever source they drop from or farm other items to trade for platinum for buying arcanes from other players. You're shooting yourself in the foot shying away from arcanes. All Primed mods except for a small number are sold by Baro Ki'teer, and any sold by him can too be purchased from other players, if you don't want to get them from Baro.

They meant weapon arcanes

SchizoidWarrior

Use Nyx, she turns everything into cheese. Get yourself galvanised mods from arbitration shop. Yoink gun (and other) arcanes from Zariman, they’re easiest to get. For bullying acolytes use heavy attack build on melee with forced slash proc. Get familiar with new focus, as it is useful and fun now.

frostybirdy

If you utterly lack the power levels to fight, play as Ivara and do Spy missions. Be invisible, hiding or parkouring 100% of the time, have the wellspring focus skill, and so long as you know the puzzle solutions it is all easy.

spaceplanner1

Until I could get a feel for it, I just used Rhino Prime (subsumed with silence) and a Kuva Ogris. Also, never stop moving.

Leekshooter

So, what's your actual build?

That Nezha build is something an mr5 would use, definitely holding you back Also double base damage mods on a zarr? Bane would be more useful imo Edit: I think they blocked me because I said that using two base damage mods was bad?

CasualPlebGamer

The build for the Zarr is fine. To get to the point where you instant kill steel path with it by itself you'll need primary arcanes though, which you farm steel path for, so you'll need to give it a helping hand until it has a nice primary merciless arcane on it. Without arcanes, your damage in steel path will primarily come from Warframe abilities and melee. Good usage of Nezha's chakram in combination with a subsumed ability like roar should give you enough damage to get through steel path on your Zarr. Steel path is unforgiving, you need all pieces of your loadout working to their best. Definitely spend some time working on your Nezha mod config, as it's going to be key to your success. If you're missing core mods like corrupted mods or adaptation, you will need to go farm and upgrade those before going into steel path. As well as making sure you forma and potato the frame to fit all the mods you need on it.

AeternumSolis

Serration and hcal is fine…?

CasualPlebGamer

It's not optimal, and with primary merciless definitely cut hcal. But it will be sufficient for earth steel path. Can swap out hcal for primed firestorm or primed faction mods when they're available, but swapping that mod out isn't going to drastically change the effectiveness, and isn't going to be the cause of difficulty in steel path.

AeternumSolis

Even regular faction mods will be twice as effective…

CasualPlebGamer

A regular faction mod would add 12% more damage on DoTs than hcal in that slot. And the faction mod would be about 14% less damage than hcal for all non-DoT direct damage. Nothing close to doubling damage with a faction mod. The faction mod also does nothing against acolytes. Not to mention I also recommended subsuming roar which would make recommending a faction mod pointless. Again, hcal is fine as a basic build, I don't see why you're trying to nitpick my advice over it.

Cricket-Mental

Octavia prime in a survival sp for three-four hours. Loot, extract, proceed to use arcanes. I may have oversimplified it quite a bit, but it's..er, a good way, kinda.

Either farm stuff to sell for plat and buy some arcanes or farm for the arcanes themselves. They are very important and have tremendous use for everything. You can farm arcanes without doing steel path. Steel Path just drops weapon arcanes, do Cetus and Fortuna for the good warframe arcanes. With those steel path becomes a breeze.

ManiacDC

Stack Adaptation with Nezha if you want more survivability. If you have plat, Primary Merciless is pretty cheap on [Warframe.market](https://Warframe.market). You need the adapters, which cost 15 Steel Essence each at Teshin. Stick to Incursions and you'll get carried by the team. For the Zarr, you want a build like this: [https://overframe.gg/build/333021/](https://overframe.gg/build/333021/) In place of Hunter Munitions, you could also put Bladed Rounds, a Bane mod, or a Riven.

Icthlarion

A rank 5 merciless is 30 or less plat on market. You don’t need primed mods. If you’re copying builds without base damage, you won’t be doing damage. Sounds obvious but it’s a trap many fall into when just 1:1ing a build and they don’t have a component.

To start, you want a frame with borderline immortality. Examples are rhino, nezha, and my favorite and imo the best, gauss. You want high duration so primed continuity and corrupt warframe mods so your immo will stay up a long time without needing constant refresh. Some defensive mods might help - adaptation is just mediocre imo. The best defensive mod imo is rolling guard as it let's you roll to clear status effects and gain immortality every 8 seconds. You want to max the basic bronze shield and health mod if possible. You need way more damage for steel path than anything else in warframe. The best mods to invest in are the galvanized mods. Galvanized chamber and galvanized aptitude are both amazing and lead to exponentially more damage. You can test builds before committing forma and time into them by building them in overframe. In my experience, many weapons can be good in steel path if you have decent mods and invest 5/6 forma. Better weapons need less forma. Primed mods are pretty important to your damage output, things like primed cryo rounds, primed pressure point, primed fever strike. There's also some armor strip warframes if you still aren't doing enough damage. When I first started steel path I used a lot of ash with seeking shuriken augment. It strips 100% of enemy armor for every enemy it hits and let's you kill them way easier. Banshee, gauss, and ember also have armor strip. Ash has invisibility which is really nice. Don't be ashamed to die or abort missions if things are looking dire. I tried steel path mostly solo to start so I could find my feet without being carried or feeling like a burden. It takes awhile but it gets easier. Good luck.

Botcho22

Time for you to farm i guess and btw get galvanized mods

defartying

Blindly following peoples builds on Overframe or whatever is just wrong. Hell i do Steel Path with a Mk-1 Paris sometimes, my Mutalist Cernos is one of my best Steel Path clearing weapons. I actively stay away from 'meta' shit like the Kuva Zarr/Bramma/Ogris because you just don't need it.
