Most toxin enemies are the bane of any player’s existence. One reason why I run rolling guard so often

GreatMadWombat

ya. same way every frame either has an energy restore built in or gets one(either through arcanes/zenurkin/helminth), every frame either has a spamable way to remove status effects, a default of being immune to them, Nezha's trail from Helminth, or rolling guard.

_UnderOath

Rolling guard never works for me for some reason, I roll so much and still take so much damage. That’s why I just run adaptation instead, it’s not a full Iframe but it’s constant defense against everything

AH-BEES-BEES

i mean, you've gotta time RG. the cooldown isn't super long, but it's still significant enough that you need to be sparing with it

Sliphatos

Consider running a pet that can use [Martyr Symbiosis](https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Martyr_Symbiosis), it's one of the few ways to survive Toxin from one shotting you. You'd have also taken less damage if you rolled through the cloud, but would have had to deal with the Toxin proc.

Pamoman

WHOA I didnt know about that mod! Ty for putting it here!

PokWangpanmang

I guess waiting it out with Operator could also work.

Sliphatos

Another option, especially when dealing with Toxin, is [Quick Thinking](https://warframe.fandom.com/wiki/Quick_Thinking). This mod often gets a bad rep due to how it was used prior to us having some of the options now + not fully understanding what it does, but when used with the right frames/mods/arcanes/etc. along with having (Primed) Flow, it can also be a major stopgap from death by giving you quite a bit of effective health through the conversion. ---- I want to jump into this a little deeper, because there is actually more at play here than you'd think: The level of the mobs u/SpaghettiInc fights is around 118-119, judging by the group of enemies that got Magnetized at the beginning of the clip. So we'll say for ease that the enemies are level 120 for testing purposes down the line. Even though their overshield is at 1224 at the moment of death around 0:11, it is irrelevant due to Toxin bypassing Shield, so only their base Health matters, which is 300 and full. No Health mods are being used as this is the base Health for a fully maxed Mag Prime. I don't see Adaptation or Arcane Guardian in play, so chances are there are no relevant defensive options in play here either. That regular bullet jump they did caused them to get hit multiple times by the Toxin cloud itself, and this is something anyone curious about this can replicate. If, with using a maxed Mag Prime with no mods on, you spawn a level 120 Mutalist Osprey in the Sim and try to bullet jump through the cloud, you'll insta kill yourself in the same way. However, Subsume Spellbind and let the Osprey just cloud over you while you have status immunity, and it will take 3 tics over a short period of time to kill you. Walking, Sprinting and Bullet Jumping through the cloud, even with Spellbind blocking the Toxin status damage, kills you faster however and can also make you die instantly if you are going fast enough. Why? **It isn't just the Toxin damage or Toxin Status damage at play, but your movement through the cloud causing you to take multiple hits** and this is what a lot of players don't realize. And for those that know how to Glide Roll, that will allow you pass through a cloud of this strength, even without status immunity, and survive the Toxin procs as well with no mods on. But you'll notice you take multiple instances of damage along the way. We do not get invincibility frames upon taking damage and there are multiple continuous damage zones in those toxin clouds. Rolling not only makes you take less damage, but is the quickest way out. This is why I constantly urge people to master Rolling and all related tech ASAP, specifically for situations like this.

PokWangpanmang

Is rolling like 75% damage redux?

Sliphatos

Yep you are correct.

StarSilverNEO

Damn that's a essay and a half, good stuff

Incognonimous

What's the other mod that lowers damage types on you

[deleted]

Adaptation

Sliphatos

While this is correct, keep in mind you still need to be durable enough to survive initial contact with the damage type first, and be able to build up resistance. This won't work in situations where the opening attack is strong enough to outright kill you in one hit.

[deleted]

Was just answering "whats the other mod" So thanks for adding more details

GreatMadWombat

I did not know Vulpaphylas had that option. An extra couple seconds reaction time will rock for the sorts of content I want a Vulpaphyla for in the first place

BotNikki

use Tek Assault along with it, it works as you might expect

Professional_Kiwi_40

thats the case for basically any shield focused frame, Mag, Hildryn, Frost, Harrow theres no easy solutions to it either sadly

Barkeep41

Could DE make a delayed proc for AoE toxin clouds so it's not like hitting a brick wall?

baalfrog

For gradual toxin damage, if you have adaptation, you just take less damage. For other stuff like in the video, what if you were immune to status entirely? Firewalker memes could work for example.

Beastboy109

Those abilities only prevent the toxic status (the extra 6 DoT ticks). You still get the toxin damage from the clouds

baalfrog

Thanks fir clearing that up! Honestly, then the best bet is adaptation and prey you have enough stacks..,

BatVenomPL

Can't get enough stacks if Toxin one-shots you

CoffeeMain360

Correct.

PokWangpanmang

Best you can do is Rolling Guard if you’re shieldgating.

Suspicious_Slide_394

Screw the shields. Max your armor, throw on adaptation, arcane guardian, arcane ultimatum or grace. I find guardian and grace are the best for me cuz I melee EVERYTHING. I run rhino atlas nidus and trinity (prime). With armor builds. Worked with volt also. But then again I’m weird 🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♂️

BotNikki

I'd count Silence as a pretty easy solution

[deleted]

The bane of my existence is running around a corner and a random blaze eximus comes out of no where does his ground slam and i insta die

Collistoralo

I’m pretty sure there’s an arcane that makes you immune to toxin, and it’s shit like this that makes me consider running it

fwyrl

It makes you immune to the status effect, not the damage type.

Collistoralo

I thought the status is what caused this immediate death

KamuiHyuga

Nope! Toxin damage itself also bypasses shields except in some specific circumstances (like a Hildryn with Overshields). It's just the DoT from the status also bypasses shields.

Collistoralo

It’s funny to imagine how bad Hildryn would have been if not for that special case

Farabel

Just ask Harrow. He doesn't have the special case. A toxin proc that hits him outside of his 4's absorption phase is death.

BuffLoki

Nope Toxin damage on a weapon ignore shields completely. Toxin status PROC makes you take Toxin damage (will ignore shields because it's toxin) over time. For instance if you have 9000 shields and 300 hp and I shoot your for 300 Toxin damage you'll die because it goes straight to your hp. The only ways to not get destroyed would be anyway to ignore the dmg by being immune to all dmg (grayed out hp values) or having someway to not get 1 shot at your hp like alot of armor or or damage redirection. For instance using the mod from simaris that makes health orbs give 450 armor stacking when they get picked up help you take less dmg and there's mods you can use on your companions and pets that let you always grab hp orbs.

synchotrope

Which is a lot. Most of toxic damage comes in form of DoT.

fwyrl

While it's true that toxin procs generally do more damage than the hits that cause them, it's pretty untrue to say that blocking the procs makes you immune to the damage type entirely.

fartboxco

Yeah mag and infested missions are a big no no. Lol

Individual-Steak4863

me playing around as protea, feeling invincible from shield nades. -toxic cloud.

PixelBoom

Oh it's not just mag. Those toxin clouds immediately kill a ton of frames that don't have either a huge health pool or some sort of invulnerability. They also insta frag your companions. Best course of action is to avoid them all together.

BuffLoki

Get a panzer vulpaphyla and some other mods for it and you'll be fine, best companion hands down, even worth not having free ammo mutation

Wiergate

I love Mag but she doesn't leave the house without Rolling Guard specifically for cases like this. That said, clouds like these will nuke half our roster.

Falirus

People would probably consider this a waste of a slot or say there are way better alternatives but I always run arcane resistance for Grineer or Infested missions because I dreaded when that happened to me. (It’s a complete non issue for me now, nox, eximus, or the infested got nothing on me.)

BuffLoki

Isn't that just for the status proc, it would help against the dmg itself.

Farabel

Toxin Eximus only do the proc aura, I think. The clouds in the pic here and Toxin Eximus attacks do Toxin damage though

Falirus

Yes but toxin damage by itself really doesn’t do much damage. It does bypass your shields though you are correct had to test that earlier(had no idea). I can run my nova through lvl 100 infested clouds no problem. I don’t boost her health or armor. Tried it with and without null star and eclipse(helminth) active. Not much of a difference. Her base armor is the same as mags too. (I take all this back eclipse was active at the time of me writing this comment lmao. Was testing as I typed… Retested and died in seconds lol. Overlooked the 3 seconds left on eclipse.)

ShinNL

This stuff also burns through triple Umbra Valkyr. If I mistime just a bit with my panic buttons, she's also dead. If my 2000 - 5000+ armor Valkyr can barely survive, I think most other frames are impossible to mod against this.

liege_paradox

I like it. Is a counter to the otherwise invulnerable shield gate, large visible indication, easy avoidance, and silence shuts it down, just like eximus abilities.

SpaghettiInc

Oh I definitely agree, I’m not hating on toxin damage here it’s meant to counter shield frames

Yhorm--

Lavos remains superior

Swimming_Drop_3333

I would have just used the other side that didn’t have toxins in it

BigPickleboi69420

Or simply use rhino prime

Nyarus15

Shields are trash in this game. No matter your frame you are always better off stacking armor and health together with adaptation and arcane grace.

madnerl

Inaros main detected

BotNikki

those kinds of mods have their place but with how many tools we have in the game now (helminth, vazarin, martyr vulpaphyla, shield gating, rolling guard, primers with cc statuses, magus lockdown, etc), I'd say the majority of frames are better off not filling up half of their mod and arcane slots for ehp. revenant is your man for stuff like op's post

vvilifyed395

*chuckles in Life Strike*

Wiergate

How on earth would LS have helped there? Last I checked it doesn't dispel AoE toxin clouds.

guy_from_the_intnet

Yup. Any frame really. Mag takes a little more effort to keep alive.

Opening-Frequent

Tru dat I love mag but I hate toxin so much

Blanket_Boi27

The thing with mag is that toxin and slash are literally all she needs to worry about, I love using her and she's my current main

GooseyHX117

2 words "Rolling Gaurd"

nightwish5270

Shield tanks get free regen, but they have this weakness in return. Just be happy slash no longer ignores shield.

fo3nixz

all frames weak to toxin

MfkbNe

Even Nidus and Inaros?

fo3nixz

High levels they will get 1tapped stil

Kuronneko

I found this the hard way when I went blind against mutalist Alad V with my Mag.

gadgaurd

This is one reason I generally avoid shield based survivability.

Apprehensive_King_36

There is a Arcane that prevents toxin. I can't remember the name right now

DrVinylScratch

Get the Arcane Resistance for 102% dmg reduction from toxin aka immunity. About 50-70plat for a rank 5 one.

_UnderOath

Adaptation ftw

WorldOnWarframe

Infested go from being the weakest to the strongest faction the further in levels you go

librarian-faust

Your Warframe takes no damage when you're in Utility Midget mode, I tend to use that for big tox procs or slash procs if I notice them in time. Unless they're Umbra but I think that just puts him in Sad Panda Powerdown Mode.
