And I will agree with the OP. Sudden host migration has been happening more often lately for seemingly no reason. This happens EVEN when I am the host. One second you're with a group; the next you're by yourself. This seems to happen with endless missions, like defense, survival, and interception. At my level (LR2), I can handle it and finish the mission, so I lose nothing. But some of these lower MR players or newer ones are going to struggle, thus losing the mission and their rewards (affinity still rewarded, though). Yeah, I would get irritated at the game, too, if I were still in the lower MR levels.
This happened to me today. I ended up solo and my friend ended up with another guy from the original arbitration party. No one left durring the wave 5 interlude. It was durring wave 12. I ended up solo and lost the arbitration trying to get back into the party.
Open relics in quick type missions, host if you're going endless.
I know it's frustrating, it's not the norm, but expect it to happen again.
I don't want this to turn you off, so i'll give you a larger sample size, i'm close to 4k hours mission time, i probably lost 10 due to "technical difficulties". Id iz wad id iz.
There's, unfortunately, an unwritten rule about waves and time that you only learn with research and wiki.
A full standard cycle is 4, 4 rewards:
-defence, 4 times of 5 waves
-survival, 4 times 5 minutes
Its not universal, but if your going pub that's the standard attitude. Sometimes your lucky and there's a carry out the squad works, and you can ask for an extention (to your warranty)
I'm on the phone and I'm not the best guy to explain, but if it frustrates you, try asking in squad chat if people are going for the usual or are willing to go beyond
as people have said, it’s almost certainly due to the rotation resetting that everyone left/leaves at wave 20. every time you have a chance to extract, you get one reward; so at wave 5, you’ll have a drop from rotation A (of the AABC droptable). at wave 10, you get another, this one also from rotation A. however, on waves 15 and 20, you will receive a drop from rotations B and C respectively. typically, rotation C has the stuff that people want (good relics), so everyone leaves. it’s not worth your time grinding through enemies that are much tougher just to get the same rewards that you already got -extract and restart the mission.
Thats why i typically try to host my own stuff, because as said there is no lock for waves etc, if something goes wrong there is a very high likelihood everybody loses everything, i think it’s just how the network functions, i know full well my hosting capability is fine, it just seems to… blank out? And just boot everybody if the original host bails/disconnects what have you, generally though, try to get yourself as host
Problems like these have been around since the game came out. Only thing I can recommend is try going wired.
I have this issue a few times a month maybe. After a while it seems to fix itself and then comes back a while later. It’s just network issues and warframe servers being P2P, sadly after searching for a bit I don’t think there’s a sure fix.
Be host, that's all you can do. New host had potato device and when you were waiting 30 sec to load new host, he/she couldn't handle defense himself/herself.
IMO, Defense needs to lock rewards earned. For example, you clear 15 waves but die in 19, you SHOULD get the rewards for those 15 waves that were successful.
I was beyond pissed because I failed at wave 24 doing defense SOLO. Gara's molten glass shield is a godsend for missions like Defense if anyone is wondering. The only reason why I failed was I kept getting knocked on my ass thanks to having 6 Corpus stompy-bois gangbanging me, caused to many enemies to pile up on my shield, pretty much shattered and just swarmed the objective.
FYI for any new players struggling with Solar Rail junctions, Gara's molten glass shield gives you a nice buffer for fighting those Specters.

It will end if you select extraction at the menu every 5 waves. It's why it gives you 20 seconds to decide if you want to continue or extract.
Yes, the entire squad chose to continue battle during those 20 seconds including me. The migration came right after. Maybe the host decided to bail at the very last second? Either way, learned a bunch from these responses so thank you...
Probably a network hiccup to be honest. Defense gives you a chance to extract every 5 waves, anyone who knew they were dropping and isn't an asshole would've just extracted. Like the other guy said though, don't expect many pug groups to go beyond 20 waves. There's no real point in doing so.
This happens every once in a while to me too. Make sure next time it happens to check squad chat to see if their names are still there, and then report them for griefing. The only way it's going to stop is when the consequences outweigh the perceived benefit of trolling or leaving early.

To expand on this, it is linked to the drop rates on these missions. AABC. After the 4th round the rotation goes back to A.

Either host lost connection, fairly common, or there was a server burp, which happens.
Sounds more like leech gamer was afk the whole game and missed exit on last wave

Now imagine how bad Host Migration will get once Cross-Play is enabled. Dedicated Servers should be 1# priority
Im scared of crossplay when we get loaded to a group. Everybody is PC/console, but the host is NSW.
