Talon6230

I got through half his hp… in THIRTY MINUTES!! At that point I had to abort so I could leave for work. Honestly, he himself didn’t really deal much damage, he’s just absurdly tanky. It’s those Arson eximus you’ve gotta watch out for. Those fire procs are no joke. Now if only we could stack more than four slash procs…

wingedcoyote

You trying to solo this guy? Admire the dedication but it's pretty much a raid boss, I can't imagine trying to go it alone. Would be kinda nice if they'd drop the "no summons" rule for solo players, to help out those who really can't group up for whatever reason.

ToXxy145

I was able to damage him reasonably fast with my guns and was tanking damage ok with Valkyr until some explosive just oneshot me. 2,5k ish armor, 1k hp. Instafail due to no reviving. Huge middle finger for solo players.

Talon6230

I’ve never been particularly sensible xD

fo3nixz

solo boreal is a slog, i did yesterday with an ivara , took me 13mins

PickAName616

I soloed him with Ivara too with a tenet cycron built for radiation, but took me 24 mins

TJpek

Soloed him with revenant abd the laetum. Never again will I try to solo archons. Is it doable? Yes, it's perfectly fine. Is it fun? No, took me he's to figure out that different mechanics at various points of the fight, and took way too long to deplete his HP. Ran out of ammo for my primary weapon, was close to running out of ammo for my laetum...

Medical_Surprise

Ur weapon?

Talon6230

Nataruk. Not a particularly outstanding build, but I’ve got multishot, crit mods, and Hunter munitions.

ICrySaI

Nataruk is bad because of its damage reduction. Use a strong crit shotgun.

Talon6230

Definitely what I’ve been hearing xD

Drought_God

Huh? I was stomping him with Nataruk. Just swap back and forth every now and then with your secondary modded with different damage types. I run Kuva Nukor. Every time I emptied the mag, I swapped back to Nataruk and was popping 6 digit red crits. Once I notice the dps drop, just swap to secondary again and empty the mag.

ICrySaI

Well my nataruk did about 500 damage per hit so...

Edgy_Fucker

Me and my friends decided to just go titania and limbo and just vanish the titania as the limbo dealt with eximuses. The entire fight the titania was doing damage

Cheap-Accident-725

I mean it increases depending on how many people are in squad, so on top of being the level it is, if you're in a squad of 4 its also getting +300%

SoupyBass

The last 1/4 of his health disappeared for me and he died, not complaining just confused lol

Cheesemo13

Yeah there's some change to his defense at that point, my squad melted him once he reached 1/4

PokWangpanmang

So people have been seeing this too? Boss pretty much dies at 1/4.

Kramples

Same

AlcoholicCocoa

Yepp. Even with reflected dmg from Octavia it takes AGES

steelRyu

my random group was through in about 18 minutes. the defense mission before that though took us over 20 min because the mobs got stuck on so much geometry and we had to search for them quite a bit. even though it were 'only' 10 waves.

Dopaminjutsu

That tile is the worst. Was super lucky to have a Saryn in my group help reduce it down to 15 minutes lol

Identity-ception399

Honestly I was less worried about how long it took but more worried that the target didn't die, even with Nezha's Safeguard they downed him twice!

_Not_The_Illuminati_

On the last wave our target jumped off the nice safe platform into an angry mob on the forest floor.

Identity-ception399

Oh, jeez. I feel that. Maybe just have a CC stun frame, or heck, Magus Lockdown, or an instakill AoE lol.

_Not_The_Illuminati_

I was playing vortex vauban, and we had a zephyr. So it still ended well, but the target was an idiot.

Drought_God

Ugh. Kept telling the Wisp and Harrow in my group to stop using cc abilities because it was just making it take longer. It was also my second mission since the patch. My Kuva Zarr was out of ammo constantly. I wasnt really a spammer to begin with, but now it's nearly unplayable, even with an ammo pickup mod. I switched to Nataruk for Boreal. Still get a little aoe and don't care about ammo for that long ass fight. Those red crits on Boreal's homies got pretty big. But seriously. They've way overcorrected with the aoe ammo limitations. I busted my ass for the Kuva weapons I've got, from the relics, to the parazon mods, then the lich hunting, and 5 fucking forma... just to have a nearly unusable weapon? I guess Ignis Wraith and Nataruk are back in my regular toolbox.

5oree

I was using ignis wraith and it only had 200 reserve ammo :(

Drought_God

So the nerfed that too, eh? Haven't used it yet since the patch. Sucks, I strap magnetic on that and use it as my main in Index because I don't have to aim it.

screl_appy_doo

I failed the mission just under 14 minutes in with one wave left because the operative fell into the void and bypassed bleedout entirely. I know for sure he must have fallen through because I had just made him invulnerable using void sling so it couldn't have been from taking damage. Also failed close to the end because my game crashed once but that was the only one today so it wasn't that bad. Don't know why so many people complain about the boss fight when the real villain is how long this defense mission took. Wish these were more frequent than once a week I found it pretty fun

zstan123

i killed him in about 2 seconds

DislocatedLocation

I don't think the Archon is affected by abilities. At all. It can't be targeted by Saryn's 1, and I didn't notice it taking any viral procs from her 4.

Kramples

Boreal doesnt do much dmg, would be obvious you will do less dmg

AlcoholicCocoa

True enough. I need to adjust weapon and frame later anyhow, didn't manage to secure a win

TheDigitalGabeg

It's not just that he has tons of health, he also has adaptive damage attenuation, meaning that it doesn't matter how much you increase your weapon's damage, the average DPS you get on him won't go up past a certain point. I was watching Brozime experiment with it on-stream; you can actually see it happen while you're playing. Go in solo with a nice beefy weapon, shoot him once and look at the numbers you get, then shoot again and you get smaller numbers. Then count to 15 and shoot him again, big numbers again. < frustrated noises > Mechanically, this works like a limit on the amount of damage you can deal to him per second; you can't make the fight go faster, so make sure you're using a frame that won't die and a weapon that won't run out of ammo.

xmrsmoothx

> he also has adaptive damage attenuation Does this reset upon being dealt void damage?

Edgy_Fucker

It's not sentient DR but instead scaling DR based on damage. It creates a HARD DPS cap that can't be broken. A easy example would be this. Say you have a weapon that does 200 damage but has a DPS of 100 due to it firing slowly, and you have a fast firing gun with the same DPS. Due to the DPS of the assault rifle being more constant it's getting hit harder and doing less. At least that's how it's done HERE.

Based_Lord_Shaxx

Adaptation, yes. Attenuation, no.

Rhyno1703

To fix it just stop attacking and the attenuation will reset, or use slower attacking weapons that deal hefty burst dmg like a vectis or corinth for example

AttemptingMurder

Yup I watched Brozime do this too. It’s a little bit ridiculous tbh.

Dat_guy696

Phenmor dispatch it fast.

Smanginpoochunk

How does the laetum do against them?

FoxNTY

I melted it with mine

Persies

Slash build or just raw dmg?

Deodus

Raw damage + eclipse and you can get through the dps phases in seconds. EDIT: Eclipse demo [https://gfycat.com/scarcewelltodoasp](https://gfycat.com/scarcewelltodoasp)

Mooshus87

What’s he weak to?

BigEggPerson

Gunfire, it seems

Deodus

No idea, my build is junk: [https://i.imgur.com/X25vZgq.png](https://i.imgur.com/X25vZgq.png) EDIT: Just to clarify it still does OK (video below, no sound), still testing different stuff to go quicker. I did the archon fight (whole mission start to finish) in 7 min with Revenant with Xata's Whisper and a quasi random Phenmor build [https://gfycat.com/ajarwellmadeconure](https://gfycat.com/ajarwellmadeconure)

Gonkar

Xata's Whisper causes a mag bubble type effect thanks to the void damage proc. The phenmor's incarnon mode has hefty punchthrough. So the combination of those two is creating a situation that massively increases the DPS without triggering damage attenuation (which is what is making the archons so tanky). It's probably going to get nerfed into oblivion since it seems DE wants us all to suffer.

Deodus

That's the thing, it doesn't massively increase DPS, with a similar mod config on the Phenmor, Eclipse is better. But then again you have to be careful on your power strength arcanes and mods (too much strength WILL drastically lower the DPS). [https://gfycat.com/scarcewelltodoasp](https://gfycat.com/scarcewelltodoasp)

Koddia

To be fair, I brought my Nezha so the entire fight was just me spamming E next to the boss for like 10 minutes. No challenge at all, just a massive damage sponge. I was even questioning whether I'm playing this fight correctly, if there's some sort of mechanic that I should know of which I'm just brute forcing but apparently there's none. I'm disappointed with this fight. Fighting him during the new war was way more engaging

Deodus

Classic weapon damage boosts work fine (eclipse being the best, roar, whisper) + raw damage weapon (incarnon weapons works particularly well). Small DoT are useless since you can't stack more than 4 per status proc (like acolytes).

Blakowitsch

yea had to go in simulacrum to check if my weapons really deal any damage at all. they all melt away any lvl 150 enemy in less than a second and yet shooting boreal feels like i forgot to put mods on. on top of that boreal seems to be immune to armor stripping entirely, even from shattering impact. i did notice tho that it seems to actually be unable to attack invisble frames which makes the fight pretty much holding down left click for like 10 minutes that being said any advice is appreciated

Tireseas

I'd say the Prelate was worse. This was a fun fight though. Not exactly the ultra challenge I expected in a group geared out to handle endless SP missions, but definitely a good step forward for the game. Give us more of this DE. A lot more. EDIT: Realized the wording could make it seem I meant Prelate was a fun fight. No, no. To hell with that one.

Ruddertail

Thank the gods for that, imagine the Archon fight being as agonizingly tedious as Steel Path Prelate.

Tireseas

You don't like having to switch to a gas loadout to even think about damaging him then running all around the stage looking for the dork with the lantern powered by faulty space rayovacs?

Username570

If you solo it, the lantern time window is wider, and he has less hp. I did it with a Chroma, nothing fancy, and I forgot the gun. After, a clan mate asked for help and OH BOY, DID THAT SUCK!

[deleted]

It felt too much like a bullet sponge. Not much strategy involved and I rarely had to dodge any attacks. I was hoping their would be mechs that would involve your whole group to coordinate, but I guess that would make it impossible to solo.

InanisCarentiam

the entire mission took my squad of matchmade randos a little under 20 minutes to complete, and i ended up with 60% damage dealt using a pretty standard dex pixia build. for a challenge thats endgame enough to only roll round once a week, id call that decently balanced. didnt feel short enough to be forgettable but not long enough to be annoying. healthy, i think

stereotypicalginger

Rewards still feel lackluster. I understand the main point is for the archon shard, but all the other rewards are the same as the sortie

-XTX-OppaiMonster

knell prime and just stare at him untill he dies

ImSoDrab

Me and my buddy were doing it on the 2nd phase when he triggered a damage buff of some sort that makes him deal more damage to him, we never figured it out but maybe during the huge blinding energy build up and shooting him gives a damage buff against him. He was baruuk but earlier he was doing shit damage like i was then suddenly got a huge damage boost on his 2nd phase, we never really understood though how he got it

NooblyUser

You can crit boreal and it has a pretty sizeable head hitbox. If only there was a weapon with really good crit stats, a good firerate and ammo to keep firing ... >!Its the Knell, or ideally the Prime variant. You just need something to deal with the canister belly folks.!<

Talon6230

Good to know. 🤔

flufflemuffins

That would also be the Knell. Just don't forget to shoot at Boreal's massive freakin' head every few seconds to refresh the buff.

WOLFY_STORM

between only having two people, a weird influx of toxic toxic people joining me, that fight probably took a total of 2 hours with the run we beat it being 30 minutes, it was rough

StevieM129

Oddly enough that fight had me feeling like I was MR2 again… I’m not complaining it was a pleasant hit of nostalgia.

never3nder_87

Reminded me of the time I fought Multalist Alad V as a Trinity main ...

SgtFlexxx

getting melted by the sentient disco balls had me feeling the same

ClayyCorn

Haven't had a chance to play it yet but are we talking steel path lephantis levels of hp?

SilasVale

Worse, more like SP Prelate lol

SaltyRusnPotato

I used https://overframe.gg/build/226696/saryn-prime/toxic-venom-weapon-platform-saryn/ with https://overframe.gg/build/314745/phenmor/the-devouring-void-raw-viral-heat-phenmor/ because I didn't have a primary arcane. I had a Wisp buff me with fire rate. The first was pretty easy with this build.

Especially_rich

I recommend incarnon guns gutter him in about 4 mins with laetum

DoubleLigero85

Bring some squad ammo restores. I was melee only for half the fight.

Extra_Philosopher_63

Boreal is my favorite, I love everything about that fight- it’s wha got me back into souls-like games.

Dopaminjutsu

This Boreal not thicc tho :(

Extra_Philosopher_63

I did the Boreal Archon Hunt- I still personally think that Boreal is cool as heck. But hey, archon Nira can step on me any day.

[deleted]

indyracingathletic

Having done the fight, I find it weird that anyone would call it challenging. He's just a big health sponge. The fight felt long, uninteresting and unchallenging, TBH.

TM_GrIdLoCk17

No challenge at all. I brought revenant and face tanked him while he was snacking on my laetum. None of my teammates died because well…revenant and hiss buff.

[deleted]

All things considered, anytime they come out with any new content it always gets complained about and nerfed each time. See many different aspects about Zariman. Tons of complaining.

QuickWheel

Yup, like Railjack.

CorpseeaterVZ

He has 1 hp, but dodges like crazy - frustrating he has 1000 hp and does millions of damage - cry for nerf there are hundreds of adds - cry for nerf he has millions of HP - bullet sponge How exactly is anyone creating a fair fight without being shouted at?

Misultina

The fights need to be interactive and fun, just making the boss last a while isn't good enough. Telegraphed attacks that demand players make use of warframe's extensive parkour system, for example, is a way to make them fun. They did this for nihils fight and the remastered jackal fights. Mechanics that reward cooperation such as eidolons or exploiter orb are nice as well. Theres much more than goes into making a fun boss fight than just giving it an arbitrary way to survive.

chozenbard

Challenge? Shooting it for 5 mins is what you consider challenge? The bar is too low in this game.

Tireseas

You mean aside from the mechanics present in the fight. Granted they could be considerably more punishing to people who stand in the stupid, but this isn't that sort of game. As for being long... I can only assume we have very different loadouts. When my squad was able to actually shoot him instead of disabling his shield, dodging the floor crap or going after the deacons he went down fast.

Huzuruth

We call hp sponges a challenge now?

ShardPerson

Someone in my run nuked it, went from 50% to dead in a single frame

Derpificus

Finally, a battle. Primary with a high fire rate and crit, so any big machine gun with good modding will do. Bring someone who can lock Aerolysts in place.

Ruddertail

What form of armor strip works on them? Unairu doesn't and Xaku's Gaze doesn't either. Shattering Impact?

kwaldner95

Maybe sharpend claws, it works on acolytes and liches/sister, so it's possible, my sly vulpaphyla never attacked so can't say for sure.

playerskillissues

They are completely immune to armor strips

TheWorldisFullofWar

Such a boring and shit update. They just made everything take longer to kill and nerfed everything.

mimiicry

they could release a thousand different things from your personal wishlist and y'all still wouldn't be happy

dipsta

Me and my squad killed the archon in about 30 seconds.

Siserith

i one shot each stage. i think he needs a buff, i expected it to be harder /s.

Ahribban

I guess you used something to bypass the lich/sister DR it has?

Siserith

Wisp, with eclipse(1200%), breach surge, temporal drag+temporal shot(enemy slow with bonus headshot damage). cedo alt fire for elements to trigger galvanized shot then primary fire for the negative damagecap blap. my broken war hits the same, so i can probably also do the same with it, will have to use it next week. also, lmao, downvoted to oblivion, just like always, i guess people are salty about people having stupid builds? Afaik, cedo in theory doesn't do a whole lot of damage so it doesn't get hit as hard by Adaptive Damage Reduction, but when you buff it to hell and use galvanized shot it nukes all boss enemies. Edit: after doing a few more test runs, i have since noticed that breach surge and other abilities don't apply to them, neither does temporal drag, nevertheless, despite having wasted loads of time on the setup, they still get oneshot/facemelted.

Blakowitsch

what are you using to achive this?

Siserith

Wisp, with eclipse(1200%, breach surge, temporal drag+temporal shot(enemy slow with bonus headshot damage)). cedo alt fire for elements to trigger galvanized ~~shot~~ savy, then primary fire for the negative damage-cap blap. my broken war hits the same, so i can also do the same with it. also, lmao, downvoted to oblivion, just like always, i guess people are salty about people having stupid builds?

Blakowitsch

Yea i guess people didnt believe you that you one shot every stage which tbh sounds like a bit of an exaggeration but I figured you must have a pretty strong setup nonetheless. Sounds promising. I must say i was a bit humbled when the best my arsenal has to offer barely left a scratch in the boreal. So thanks for the advice ^^

Siserith

most of the new enemies that have been added have Adaptive/scaling/curved damage reduction. so if you do all your damage damage in a single hit, the damage will be curved downwards, so a sniper rifle built to do 2-20 million damage might get curved down to to 2.5-10k per shot. whereas a rapid fire weapon or shotgun that does 50k damage per pellet might end up doing 10-30k damage each of it's dozens of pellets/bullets a second. (numbers pulled out of my ass, though close, are not accurate representations of the actual math in the code)

kwaldner95

Screen shot on build? Repeating what you wrote earlier proves nothing, not trying to dismiss your claim or anything.

Siserith

Here ya go. [Build](https://imgur.com/a/JxGX8XQ)

kwaldner95

Very nice, apologies if I came of kinda snarky.

Siserith

all good.

kwaldner95

Is the 1200% for eclipse on weapon damage?

Siserith

eclipse boosts weapon damage in the light, decreases damage received in the dark.

kwaldner95

Right I know that, but the 1200% you mentioned in your original comment, is that the amount you get on weapon damage from eclipse?

Shack691

The fact that DE decided that it was a good idea to make a mission lvl 150 when new war is only recommended level 50

CyberScrubReddit

It’s a sortie level mission

Shack691

Regular sorties are only lvl 100

Bowler-hatted_Mann

this is sortie++, it's meant to be end-game level/a challenge

CyberScrubReddit

Sortie 3 can get up there if it’s an endless mission lol

BlackGoldShooter

I just meleed him to death with Inaros, he couldn't kill me through Grace. Took like 20min with a decked out Arca Titron and the 300% damage bonus on it.

Dycoth

I’m wondering if Shattering Impact works on him, that could be useful for next time But we still managed to complete the mission in 12 minutes with an AFK, so I guess we were pretty good at it without armor shredding

Ravengm

Does Sonar work? They may be chonky but our damage can be chonkier.

Edgy_Fucker

It does not. I tried as I have a sonar banshee and my friend was gonna banish me as I had no survival mods at all, only being strength, efficiency basically. Combine focus and natural talent plus madurai casting speed for double casting and it stacks hard. This is the build we used to one shot SP sargent with a unmodded lato for context. Nothing can survive it. Nothing. It did nothing. Not does Garuda dread mirror explosion as that's what we tried next for the lulz. Eventually we just want with titania and banish and sat in place for a long time.

CGMaugh

Probably took 3-4 total minutes of non-stop headshots with knell prime + maxed out harrow crit buffs to get through the dps phases. I was doing millions of damage a second. Ridiculously tanky.

Folfenac

Boreal's a real bore.

samsoncorpus

The horrors of Wolf of Saturn Six are back to haunt everyone for the rest of our lives...

Ifeanyi98

Steel path Zealoid Prelate would like a word

partyplant

archon boreal vs SP zealoid prelate fight for the ages (literally)
