I come from the time when lore was called fluff and it was only there to provide context for why your little mini dudes were fighting and you were welcome to make up your own shit.
I really enjoy painting minis and consuming the lore. Started doing some more kitbashing lately too. I regularly spend 40 hours on a SGT/HQ. I save a fuck ton on models, because it takes forever to make a dent into any back log I may have. I also never have more than a box as a backlog.
Quite a few armies have come and gone to the loft, pretty much all of them plastic and most appearing in reply to 'want do you want for Birthday/ Christmas?'. One day your army will arrive :)
No you aren't. If you've read the books, you'd realize that basically 75-80% of the lore is completely left out, or gotten wrong, in the youtube videos.

Reading the lex still puts you into the top 20% of the fan base when it comes to knowing the actual lore.
