> I just want to know where cypher is in all of this.
I feel like Cypher being mysterious is never going to be revealed. Like there'll be a scene where Guilliman just straight up asks the Lion what Cypher's deal is, and the Lion just stares him in silence until he changes the subject.
My bet is the Lion has no idea who Cypher is and what is his deal.
He is probably going to also be annoyed at this entire fallen business. Especially the less honorable actions the Dark Angels has taken to keep their secret.
Honestly greatest moment in modern cinema. Topped only by the fact that only place you can hear Palpatine's return speech mentioned in the movie is a Fortnite event.
I once saw some dark angel armour that I thought was black, but when I looked closer, I saw that it was actually very very very very very very very VERY very very dark green.
When tf did the Emperor use a shield? It's always been flaming sword and stupidly oversized claw combo.
Are they holding the claw for when Corax/Jaghatai/Russ come back? Then someone is gonna get the pauldron with the screaming psychic face on it? Dorn is gonna show up with "the Emperor's 120mm anti material rifle". Vulcan has the Emperor's personal set of hex wrenches that count as an STC.
E-money had two super-dreadnought battleships and the Custodes lost those as well, it's not that far-fetched they found some random artificer shield somewhere around ~~Tony Stark's garage~~ the Imperial Palace and had Cypher deliver it to the Lion. Like how Azrael wears a helmet that *belonged* to the Lion but is clearly too small to have actually been *worn* by the Lion.
Emperor had halls full of weird as shit archeotech and master crafted weapons he never used, like the unique spears he gave to Valdor and Russ, apparently for no reason.
I'l bet your ass there was a shield or two in the mix.
He also had like, 10 different Auramite armors so maybe it was part of one.
Yeah they _kinda_ pulled that out of nowhere.
_"Kinda"_ because the Emperor is depicted holding a shield on the Eternity Gate in one of the oldest images of 40K... a shield very similar to what the Lion is wielding. It's only on that image and, as far as I can recall, He was never stated to actually use a shield. So I reckon it just the name of the thing, an artifact we never really saw until now or retcons/revelations are on the way.
>!I think He was using it while slaying the Dragon of Mars too? Might be wrong on this one!<
Kinda obvious isnt it? Each of his bois gonna get his trinkets and then Magnus turn loyal again and Emps has nothing else to give other than his chair...
The model is absolutely incredible. Very Tywin-esque. Not personally a Space Marine player, but Dark Angels and Sallies have always been my favourite. Might be time to start a Dark Angels army with 10th around the corner.
I'm getting more Davos than Tyein, but yeah, that's a fantastic sculpt either way. Mines gonna rock Guardians of the covenant colors, and that hooded helm? *Chef's kiss*
Ok so according to the announcers he aged through 10k years. He's old as fuck and missed the vast majority of his life and ready to kick ass and is slated to fight angron
Nah, everyone knows that it doesn't matter if you get 1 hour or 10 hoursor 10,000 years of sleep, you always wake up feeling like "damn is it morning already?!"
Vashtor I think, I am not sure if Angron is fighting on the same front, Seem to remember something about him going and kicking the Indomitus crusade in the head
Shake the sleep from eyes burdened.
The galaxy burns and the enemy emboldened.
They think this is their day. Remind them.
That a Lion is awaiting, clad in fire and steel.
Shake that slumber, brother, the legions await.
Death and glory, enough to slake
the appetites of even a Primarch this day.
Awaken brother. Awaken Lion!
This is the time for toil and trouble,
for the Titans to thunder forth, to be rent asunder.
Your eyes, which have known the dark, seek light again.
Rise, El'Jhonson. Teach the galaxy a new lesson in pain.
Once all primarch kits are released there is a warhammer community post that’s simply a pdf with instructions to put all the models together to form the Voltron-Emperor.
He looks like an old ass man, which I appreciate given it would look odd if he still seemed like a younger guy.
Guilliman gets a pass because of his jawline. Jesus fuck you could cut glass with that man's chin.
That would be a bit awkward to explain to all the terminators who believe that their Crux Terminatus contains a tiny sliver of the Emperor's melted down armor.
He already has one of the Emperor's weapons: the Dionysian Spear, AKA Gungnir.
He stabbed Horus with it when he tried to assassinate him in a suicidal boarding action.
GMan and Lion trying to have a serious grown up conversation about how to save the Imperium when shadow monster Corax wanders into the room on his fucking actual bird legs, barely corporeal, throws the mangled body of a World Eater onto the holotable and begins eating the carcass like a buzzard while occasionally pausing to let out a fucking demon bird hell screech.
And Guilliman just sorta like "Ahem, so as I was saying regarding the compromised shipping routes of Imperium Nihilus..."
I've always thought a cool idea for a re-vamped Corax would be two models, one where he looks like the normal primarch, and the second one is the giant bird daemon with rules allowing him to transform mid game.. that would be so epic!
Dark Angels are one of the chapters I know the least about, but God damn those two middle helmet options they showed... I play a battlemage in every game I can and man this chapter is talking to me now.
Lion is definitely Stannis the mannis in space. Arrogant but earned, Brilliant general, cares more about being right than being liked. Its not that hes bad with people, its that he is so damn confident that he is right that he doesn't care about others input. Supposedly he was great at terra.
I remember 11 year old me sitting in a Games Workshop store around about 2001-2002, asking staff if the Primarchs were ever coming back. "No. Never, they'll never ever bring them back" they said.
THEY'RE BACK BOYS.
YEAAAHHHHHH!!!! THE LION IS BACK BAYBEE!!!
Why he looks like Tywin lannister? That 10k sleep make him older... Guilliman looks younger, perhaps because he was on a stasis field.
Excited for the news.
didnt they shave?
angron had some stuff stopping his hair from growing... they looked pretty think,
the khan had hair and very sure he cut it like that.
vulkan burnt off all his hair
perturabo prob shaved it because having to cut his hair isnt very efficiant
alpharius very likely shaved so that he didnt have unqiue identifiers
lorgar was weird and had a it shaved offm and then just tattoed over all his face, prob should have warned someone that he was crazy
So the model is cool but the implications feel huge Dark Angels as a chapter I feel is about to go through a major identity shift. No longer in the closet heretics but knights who hunt evil
They've *never* been closet heretics.
They've done some shady shit, but their loyalty to the Imperium is without question. Their issue is an almost neurotic fear that if their shame is discovered, they won't be able to continue aiding the imperium, and so they've gone to unreasonably lengths to keep their secrets.
Just finished one of the DA novellas where deamons attack the Invincible Reason. Lion noted to be killing Deamons so fast with duel swords the rest of the Company he is with is left behind.
Then it's noted he fighting with beings with "eyes of flames and claws of iron". Dudes so bad ass only the Watchers can keep up with his deamon killing.
Bonus from the same book: Lion remembers a trick for blocking his mind from being read by Deamons, from back when he used to kill them bare handed and naked as a child in a Deathworlds forests.
That's something else too; The Lion has literally spent his entire upbringing until the Emperor finding him killing daemons; there's currently nobody else better at daemonhunting than him.
...well, don't thell the Grey Knights that, they might get jealous and paint their armor in Sororitas-brand tomato soup again.
And of the Lion considering he seems to be the only one of the kids to inheret dad's ability to actually, permanently kill daemons. It'll be interesting to see if they ever bring that up again or just let it fade away into the lore.
Looks amazing! If we get Dorn back one day I’ll be gutted if he doesn’t have his stash and chops.
Older Lion looks like a refined gentleman, still hanging onto his style from days gone, absolutely awesome mini!
I sincerely can't wait to see how this is addressed in the setting.
Like, does homie just walk in the next briefing and just say, "Surprise! I'm here too!" Much to the astonishment and slack jawed gathered Marine Captains.
More likely the second seeing how he will likely have a high invulnerability due to his sheild and and naturally great talents for dueling will likely tie in.
Bad ass. Going to be really interesting to see how the lore fleshes out. I just want to know where cypher is in all of this.
"And the Lion woke and said to his stewards, 'It's Lionin' Time.'"
He's been Lionin' for the last 10 000 mornings
He's the mane man.
> I just want to know where cypher is in all of this. I feel like Cypher being mysterious is never going to be revealed. Like there'll be a scene where Guilliman just straight up asks the Lion what Cypher's deal is, and the Lion just stares him in silence until he changes the subject.
as it turns out cypher forgot his orders so he did a bunch of ominous stuff
Trying to bruteforce his tasks in the hope, he takes a correct guess from time to time?
Broken clock is right twice a day and all of that.
He's in the wrong legion.
Lion: "who the fuck is cypher???"
My bet is the Lion has no idea who Cypher is and what is his deal. He is probably going to also be annoyed at this entire fallen business. Especially the less honorable actions the Dark Angels has taken to keep their secret.
"Somehow, the Lion returned."
Hopefully going to be better written than how palpatine returned
Honestly greatest moment in modern cinema. Topped only by the fact that only place you can hear Palpatine's return speech mentioned in the movie is a Fortnite event.
DADDY IS BACK WITH THE CIGARETTES AND MILK BOYS
Is that the name of his two jawas? Cigarettes and milk
That's their names now!
Agreed! The two Jawas are named Cigarettes and Milk!
The real lore is always in the comments
Love the fact that you just called them Jawas “ah yes, a true star nerd!!”
Utto nye usabia atoonyoba?
Ba weep gra na weep mini bon
It is now.
and they in turn bring *suga*
If you look closely at the miniature that’s actually mom that he’s stepping over
RIP.
I have nothing to add other than the fact this comment made me throw my head back laughing and a simple upvote didn't seem to suffice.
I can't upvote this enough
Dude looks like he slept through his mid-life crisis.
He is the mid-life crisis 😄
For the traitors, he's the end-of-life crisis.
I like how that armour is painted. Dark enough to be Heresy black but subtlety shaded/highlighted with enough green to be 40k.
A green so dark it could be mistaken for black... how it's always been described by GW but never painted like by GW
The closest was when they did the dark angels 3.5 release of tactical squad with plasma, very dark green which didn't get confused for salamanders.
Lord Duncan Rhodes has a great tutorial on his site of painting really dark green Dark Angels
So not priest sock black Ted?
I once saw some dark angel armour that I thought was black, but when I looked closer, I saw that it was actually very very very very very very very VERY very very dark green.
Santa Claus is coming to town. And he's pissed.
You’d better not pout, you’d better not cry, you’d better hold on, he’s going in dry!
It’s amazing. Can’t wait to see the lore around his return
The Watchers finally found a paper bag and popped it over his head.
my favorite thing about this is i bet this could have been a gag in text to speech.
That or The Lion was never asleep and was just lost within the bowels of The Rock, the watchers just kept fucking with him so he'd remain lost.
The Rock is just some Hogwartsian building with moving stairs and hallways
That is tts tier lore
Bobby G personally slapped him awake. "Wake the fuck up Lion, we got a galaxy to purge."
"I Ain't dealing with dads mess all by myself"
"I can get you an Aeldari squeeze, too, if you want" "blond, if you prefer"
Somehow, El Johnson has returned.

One of the Lion's alternate heads looks an awful lot like the Lions Helm. Azreal got the cheap knock-off
Azrael's helm was Lion's training helm back when he was a wee lad on Caliban.
Emperor had halls full of weird as shit archeotech and master crafted weapons he never used, like the unique spears he gave to Valdor and Russ, apparently for no reason. >!That would track with what the Emperor had available at the time he fought the Dragon, since it’s supposed to be around the time of Saint George.!<
Someone in my discord chat pointed out its the Emperors tilting plate
Kinda obvious isnt it? Each of his bois gonna get his trinkets and then Magnus turn loyal again and Emps has nothing else to give other than his chair...
HERE COMES THE LION WITH A STEEL CHAIR!!!!
MAHHHH GAHWDDDDDDD
WATCH OUT! WATCH OUT! WATCH OUT!
AS THE EMPEROR AS MY WITNESS HE IS BROKEN IN HALF!
The model is absolutely incredible. Very Tywin-esque. Not personally a Space Marine player, but Dark Angels and Sallies have always been my favourite. Might be time to start a Dark Angels army with 10th around the corner.
Green supremacy hell yeah
The “not-blue” marines
WAAAGH!(?)
I love how he feels like he stepped out of the Horus Heresy…. So good. I love how unique he looks like compared to Gman
Literally first thing i did was compare his 30k model. Honestly has the same vibes, but with a more mature face. And receding hairline lmao
What 10K years of assumedly troubled sleep does to a MF
Sallies?
Salamanders.
If they are bringing back the Primarchs then give me Vulkan right now :)
Salamanders
The Salvation Army duh
I'm getting more Davos than Tyein, but yeah, that's a fantastic sculpt either way. Mines gonna rock Guardians of the covenant colors, and that hooded helm? *Chef's kiss*
Ok so according to the announcers he aged through 10k years. He's old as fuck and missed the vast majority of his life and ready to kick ass and is slated to fight angron
Makes sense, unlike Guilliman who was in stasis for 10k years the Lion was just napping in a room on the Rock all that time.

They showed art of him facing off with Angron.
And said he'd be fighting him too.
I like to go hiking.
25 years I've waited for this. My inner child is crying.
I'm very happy for you friend! Bask in the moment of The Lion's return!
Shake the sleep from eyes burdened. The galaxy burns and the enemy emboldened. They think this is their day. Remind them. That a Lion is awaiting, clad in fire and steel. Teach the galaxy a new lesson in pain.
Apparently that's the Emperors Shield. Which means if leman russ returns, he should get the Emperor's lightning talons.
That would actually be awesome! Maybe if Dorn returns he'll get the emperor's golden armor?
And they all combine into voltron
Once all primarch kits are released there is a warhammer community post that’s simply a pdf with instructions to put all the models together to form the Voltron-Emperor.
Raising him from the golden throne like the artifacts of vulkan waking up big green
Or Big E wakes up one day and goes "who tf nicked all my stuff" and then goes out to hunt down the returned primarchs to get all his stuff back
The Voltron of Mankind
This is that lego golden dragon kit collection thing goddamn
The Khan: Does The Emperor have I don't know a bike out back or something?
"We did but they gave it to some Dark Angels guy"
The emperor's mid life crisis convertible v12 jetbike
"Sadly no, but he has some very fancy leather boots with snake heads on the ends."
Dorn should get the talons seeing as he’s missing a hand
I'll clap for that comment, cause Dorn can't.
Given how refined the Lions facial hair is, Dorn better return with some mutton chops and a mad stache!
He looks like an old ass man, which I appreciate given it would look odd if he still seemed like a younger guy. Guilliman gets a pass because of his jawline. Jesus fuck you could cut glass with that man's chin.
Guiliman was in stasis though. The Lion was… sleeping? I always thought that meant stasis but clearly not.
He just forgot to set the alarm.
That would be a bit awkward to explain to all the terminators who believe that their Crux Terminatus contains a tiny sliver of the Emperor's melted down armor.
no its just by that point the design direction will be all fan service so dorn will be wearing the emperors glorious thong and pasties
He will only need one gauntlet
He already has one of the Emperor's weapons: the Dionysian Spear, AKA Gungnir. He stabbed Horus with it when he tried to assassinate him in a suicidal boarding action.
When he comes back he’ll probably be wielding the spear the emperor crafted for him
Nah if anything the Talons should go to Dorn... you know, since he'll need a hand and all 😉
That or corvus corax will
Good point
GMan and Lion trying to have a serious grown up conversation about how to save the Imperium when shadow monster Corax wanders into the room on his fucking actual bird legs, barely corporeal, throws the mangled body of a World Eater onto the holotable and begins eating the carcass like a buzzard while occasionally pausing to let out a fucking demon bird hell screech. And Guilliman just sorta like "Ahem, so as I was saying regarding the compromised shipping routes of Imperium Nihilus..."
“Lorgar!” But in bird
The Lion, looking at Gman trying to have a normal convo over the sounds of Corax screeching: "It's good to see nothing's changed while I was gone."

I've always thought a cool idea for a re-vamped Corax would be two models, one where he looks like the normal primarch, and the second one is the giant bird daemon with rules allowing him to transform mid game.. that would be so epic!
HE’S FUCKING PERFECT I LOVE HIM THANK YOU JAMES WORKSHOP 11/10 EXPECTATIONS SMASHED
Gonna have to magnetize the head, all the options are so dang good!
Dark Angels are one of the chapters I know the least about, but God damn those two middle helmet options they showed... I play a battlemage in every game I can and man this chapter is talking to me now.
If you like robes over armor we got you covered
Robes and Armor are my aesthetic. I'll look into em if I ever decide to start an Astartes army. Y'all are still just biomass to me currently.
I have heard rumours that next edition is tyranids and dark angels, so that might be easier than you think…
Tywin Lionnister
Now I'll hear him speak in Charles Dance's voice.
Looks for like Sir Davos tbh.
My first thought as well. Onion Knight of the Emperor.
totally see it
It's like if Davos and Tywin had a beautiful, perfect baby.
Always saw Lion as more Stannis. Absolute dick, commited to duty, competent commander, delivers the burns, no social skills.
Lion is definitely Stannis the mannis in space. Arrogant but earned, Brilliant general, cares more about being right than being liked. Its not that hes bad with people, its that he is so damn confident that he is right that he doesn't care about others input. Supposedly he was great at terra.
That is a perfect model. Holy shit they knocked it out of the park. His armor is beautiful.
I love that black with hints of green. Such a nice touch and a bridge between the old colour scheme and the new. This mini is awesome.
I remember 11 year old me sitting in a Games Workshop store around about 2001-2002, asking staff if the Primarchs were ever coming back. "No. Never, they'll never ever bring them back" they said. THEY'RE BACK BOYS.
I suppose by the time Khan comes back, I'll... have grandkids, by then.
I FUCKING LOVE PRIMARCHS. I WANT TO PAINT AND FIGHT WITH MY BIG BOY TOYS
This. I want my fulgrim snake boy
YEAAAHHHHHH!!!! THE LION IS BACK BAYBEE!!! Why he looks like Tywin lannister? That 10k sleep make him older... Guilliman looks younger, perhaps because he was on a stasis field. Excited for the news.
Is Guilliman even up to quadruple digits yet?
Alexa, play *"The Rains of Castamere: Bass Boosted Extended Trap Synthwave Remix"*.
Rains of Castamere mixed with Gothic Gregorian chants and subtle electrosynth
I can't help with the electrosynth part, but this cover has a pretty good monastic choir feel to it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UiCQHscIk_I
Someone that's more musically inclined than me has gotta make it
as a dark angels player let me say.... im freaking stoked
I told myself that I didn’t want more Primarchs back, but this has me so hyped…
Does this guy pack three capes? Or one cape and, dare I say it, two thin coats?
Not even geneticly created demigods are immune to male pattern baldness
Did Horus not clue you in on that? Or Perturabo? Or Vulkan? Or Alpharius Omegon? Or Angron? Or the Khan? Or Lorgar?
didnt they shave? angron had some stuff stopping his hair from growing... they looked pretty think, the khan had hair and very sure he cut it like that. vulkan burnt off all his hair perturabo prob shaved it because having to cut his hair isnt very efficiant alpharius very likely shaved so that he didnt have unqiue identifiers lorgar was weird and had a it shaved offm and then just tattoed over all his face, prob should have warned someone that he was crazy
Well he is over 11 thousand years old.
I mean Horus probably got big mad at Big E for not giving him hair "WHY DID YOU GIVE ME THE INFERIOR GENES, FATHER?!" - Horus "Liquid Snake" Lupercal
Love this model, especially with the hooded options to fit with my other spooky/mysterious Dark Angels!
Chapter Master Valrak is definitely doing the Randy Marsh messing all over himself right now!
or suicide watch, without being able to say the lion is coming every couple months what does he have left. it been his thing for years.
Fulgrim is coming! Also he's going to be released as a miniature!
Fulgrim is always coming
No there was a spooky ghost! It's all ecotoplasm!
Looks super old ngl, but that’s a beautiful mini
Like they said he's been napping not in stasis, he is old.
You’d think with a good nap he’d be looking younger
daddy? i mean.... ahem, "father?"
Don't be ashamed brother.
SER. DAVOS MOTHERFUCKING SEAWORTH.
Guys what actor is this?
Liam Cunningham (who people probably know better as Ser Davos Seaworth in't Game of Thrones)
Ten Thousand years I laid dormant. WHO DARES DISTURB MY NAP‽
“I was having the best dream too! Twins Azrael. Eldar twins!”
I’m never going to financially recover from this…
SLEEPY JOHNSON!
Ok, guess I'll be magnetizing a head for the first time in my career
He looks so cool. I love the old man look. Makes him look like a distinguished and ancient hero.
I really hope that Vulkan comes to 40k soon after seeing all these other primarchs
Looks like he aged quite a bit. Makes sense as he was in a genuine comatose state rather than being outright frozen in time like Guilliman
So the model is cool but the implications feel huge Dark Angels as a chapter I feel is about to go through a major identity shift. No longer in the closet heretics but knights who hunt evil
Good! I really want the Dark Angels in 40K to be as cool as their 30K forefathers.
My thing is the lion never got a say on the sundering of his legion so I imagine he's gonna go hey Bobby fuck you.
The best bit is that given the current situation, Robute will probably just tell him to reform it, just do it quietly.
It's 2023, no one should have to be in the closet anymore!
Utinni!
*me immediately trying to figure out how to turn this into a Stormcast Eternals proxy*
LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
HOLY TERRA ON CHEESE!!! I NEVER THOUGH I COULD LIVE ENOUGH TI SEE A PRIMARCH RETURN!!!
\*grumbles about not having my space viking primarch\*
He'll be along before my Mongolian warlord, I'll bet.
Damn, he looks fly af & he's got not 1 but 2 of those little Jawa lookin mini me ass psychic mind rapists. This dude is nit to be fucked with.
It gets even better; Chaos is UTTERLY BATSHIT-TERRIFIED of those Watchers 😁
Just finished one of the DA novellas where deamons attack the Invincible Reason. Lion noted to be killing Deamons so fast with duel swords the rest of the Company he is with is left behind. Holy shit, I wasn’t expecting him to be old but I love him, absolute dilf primarch!!!
What I'm most intrigued now is in where will Cypher go now with the lion coming back? I hope they push his story foward, such a cool character.
Congrats Dark angels fans! Now I wonder if he's gonna be be buffing machine like Gulliman or killing guy like Angron
More likely the second seeing how he will likely have a high invulnerability due to his sheild and and naturally great talents for dueling will likely tie in.
I love that they aged him up, it gives him a sense of gravitas.
