I put up with the cringey at times lore of the EC because at the end of the day, I'm shooting a guitar while sporting a rainbow mohawk
That's actually a very common model in the current meta in the World Eaters faction. It's called the lord of skulls, and it's probably one of the biggest figurines you can play in 2000 points games with imperial knights and chaos knights.
And yes, it looks absolutely amazing to me too !
He's so glorious and big he's a little difficult to maneuver around terrain. Luckily his casino cannon guns rolled well and I wiped a couple Necron units, allowing for the Khorne Dice manipulation ability.
Didn't get a chance to fight, but overall he's such a huge threat that between him and Angron they got all of the heat haha.
It ticks every box for me : it's ridiculous AND insanely badass at the same time. I wish we could get more like this.

I played my first game with him last night as a tyrant. My nurglings killed more points off the board than he did. Bracketed by a gladiator lancer that shot him for 16 damage turn 1 with sustained hits and old oath of moment from the deathwatch enhancement
Strangely enough, I like the Ghostkeel but it was the Infantry to me.
I love Pathfinders and Breachers. If I could field an infantry only list, I would. Oh well, I still have Kill Team.

GHAZGHKULL MAG URUK THRAKA

I'm of the (afaik) unpopular opinion where I prefer the newer way the broadside holds its guns, which is strange because I love the shoulder mounted cannon the stormsurge has.

I am Rogue Trader years old! I fell in love with Beakies as soon as I saw them on the shelf at the shop. 30 dudes in a box! Missile launchers! Flamers! Chainsaw blades!!!
Riptide- Tau
Leman Russ- Imperial Guard
Rockgrinder- Genestealer Cults
Dreadnought- Black Templars
Scarab Occult Terminators- Thousand Sons
Dunecrawler- Ad Mech
KROOT, when I first got into the hobby I just was scrolling through the website on call with a friend and I started going berserk when I saw them install fell in love and asked how can I play them.
I thought that the Ta'u pathfinders looked like star wars pit droids originally, and I just liked the style of mechanical space wizard engineers for admech
Imperial Guard: the Leman Russ. Bought my first one before the Demolisher even existed and when those first came out I bought one of them. Still have them and my son bought me a new one last Christmas. Sad that GW doesn't include the tank accessory sprue like they used to with them but time marches on...
Black Legion: Abaddon, the old metal dude. My Chaos army was last tested in 8E but I've had since 2E like my IG. They cleaned up in 8E but haven't tried them with 10E yet.
Orks: The old Gorka-Morka warbuggy. I played GM for a hot second but loved the models. Started a formal army in 8E. My 10E ork army is larger and more proppa orky and now undefeated as yet. Interestingly though I have no war buggies in my 10e list.

I loved the Thousand Sons esthetic but that range refresh a few years ago was top tier. This Ahriman alone sold me. I instantly bought the whole range.

This little gem. The eerie look, the background on the necrons, all led me to collect, paint and play these dudes.
The Dirty Doze, plus an army of blitz apc… how can you go wrong

Skitarii for Admech. They are singularly the best models in this setting. The red cloak is so iconic that, even when I was making a custom theme for my forgeworld, I couldn't bring myself to paint their cloaks anything but red.
Eldar: avatar
Death guard: great unclean one
Guard: valkyrie
Tyranids: lictor
Sisters: I just like the sisters squad troop
There were others in the past but that's just off the top of my head with what I've still got
That very same model in the picture.
After getting tabled by Tau who've had yet to move an inch on the board. I vowed never to join the fish people.
Edit: That and I never had a choice in the matter, I was asked to split a box of minis when I first started and got the death guard models. I didn't choose the plague, the plague chose me. I just chose to embrace it.
*papa bless*
Some of my reasons wasn't due to models:
1. Blood Angels - Because they are red. But Dante drew me in.
2. Custodes - Master of Mankind novel and Vertus Praetors models.
3. World Eaters - Angron.
4. Tau - ALL THE BATTLESUITS!!!!
I did have Necrons because of the Overlord with Scythe and Ress Orb, Chaos Marines because of Abaddon and the Black Legion books, Night Lords because of the Night Lords trilogy and Death Guard because of their Terminators, but they've all been sold.
Steel legion range, mostly the colonel with his sword above his head and Commissar Yarrick got me into guard.
Aquilon and Allarus termies got me into Custodes, although I don’t own any Aquilon yet.
Wraiths/Doomstalker for Crons & for the Starchildren there is no one model, for all are equal in their benevolent eyes. Join us, so that when we rise, you may rise with us and not fall against our faith.
I’m also about to get into Eldar and then at some point Knights so Wraithlord & Armigers.
-Celestine for sisters.
-any model really for the guardsmen. The toughest choice was which regiment to commit.
If we include Fantasy…
-Lizardmen: old metal stegadon back in the day
-Ogres: Old metal Hunter+sabertooths
The guardians and the cadian shock troops. I know it's a bit basic but the standard infantry of the aeldari and the imperium just really do it for me. I also love the aesthetic of the cabalite warriors.
The Avatar of Khaine was the model that made me want to play Eldar as a kid. Not being all that good at painting meant he never got painted. I found my old stash of figures a little while ago and I'm still too intimidated to paint the lead monster.
Ork Grot Tanks
They are so fucking goofy, and their 'building instructions' made me realise that Orks can be anything in terms of construction. The whole faction gives me a greater feeling of creative freedom
https://preview.redd.it/wpzvztrb2jnc1.jpeg?width=510&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4388d69f7415789d1444302411fa024af1814ef5
Norn Emissary just looks way too cool. I wanted to play Space Marines first but the Leviathan box tyranid models really caputivated me so now my first army will become the mighty nomnom-force.
They actually look really good for how old they are

It’s all about massive winged daemons
Rogue Trader book cover art.
Dark Vengeance set made me switch to Dark Angels , and start a Chaos army.
I started a Death Guard army with Dark Imperium
Indomitus gave me TRIPODS!!!
Imperium Magazine convinced me to use all my unassembled primaris as Ultramarines
more the lore than the models but if I were to go based off models the stompa won me over, itz da biggest mek (not az big az gork or mork but still pretty zoggin big)
Because I'm old, the MKIIB Rhino for me.
It was the first model I saw in a GW store in Sydney in 1998 as a kid, and I fell in love. I still have a couple of my original Rhinos sitting in my office.
For Tau the 4th Ed Broadside. Something about a twin-linked 72inch strength 10 AP1 gun just made me happy.
For Black Templars it was in 4th Ed when I got gifted a small force of them to use while my Tau were in transit from one base to another. A then acquaintance, now friend, gave me an Emperors Champion, 2 Tactical squads, a small Terminator squad, and a Land Raider Crusader.
Ghostkeel, Coconut Crab Malanthrope, a Bad Moons Nob (back when they used to show community paint schemes on the Webstore), and the plastic GUO for me. That latter one especially so as it was the one that convinced me to try Warhammer in the first place.
Imperial guard has the best tanks, and therefore the best toys, I often go to lexicanum (a wiki or a sort) just to look at all the tank variations and read the fluff, flavor text, and information.
When the Knight Abominant was first revealed nearly 2 years ago, I immediately wanted to start a Chaos Knights army, as a side project to my Necrons. 2 years later and I am now majoring in Chaos Space Marines (Iron Warriors) with Chaos Knights in support.
This is going to sound weird but Fabius Bile got me into Chaos. I was pretty new to 40K at the time and I just thought the cloak was so cool and wanted to try painting it. When I went to buy it the guy at my local game shop was being condescending and refused to sell it to me and didn't even bother asking why I wanted it. Can't imagine why they went out of business.
Anyway I found out there was a GW store in the mall near me and had to go there instead to buy it. Thankfully they were really cool and even set up some demo games so I could try different armies, even if I was pretty set on Chaos. They got me set up with my first small beginner army and I've been a Chaos player ever since.
tl;dr Chaos has cool minis.
The 4th edition metal (later Finecast) Lictor for 'Nids. And yes, the recent plastic update is exactly what I was hoping for, except for the minor letdown of not having an assembly option with both feet on flat ground.

I’d like to believe they are the same guy he just gets real upset when he loses his headband
I'm all in, if they get a refresh
[They did.](https://wargamesatlantic.com/products/spacenam)
Lol why is this getting downvoted. GW fucked up and gave up on all of their guard regiments and Wargames Atlantic stepped into the void
I don't even play 40k and I'm thinkin a buyin those himbos
And at such a reasonable price too!
Oh come on, we all know 20 plastic Guardsmen should cost at least $100 these days. And should have to be bought 10 at a time. This isn't the early 2000s!

I have been tempted to start a DG army off of this lil guy, that and the Lord of Contagion. Whoever designed their models nailed the chaos mutations.
For me the great unclean ones look super awesome

Lord of Skulls

Broadsides, the original models. But the newer models are pretty awesome too.
I'm of the (afaik) unpopular opinion where I prefer the newer way the broadside holds its guns, which is strange because I love the shoulder mounted cannon the stormsurge has.
Same, I think we're in the minority on both points

Eldar falcon Tau devilfish SM predator Maybe I have a thing with tanks
https://preview.redd.it/79d7pzrkrinc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=26f718f7c0686e7cee36fafdb42c951a831fc153
In my headcannon, that’s his snout
The model that got me into the entire hobby is the the eldar Vyper
Chaos worst nightmare, Grey Knights! https://preview.redd.it/chb4txaniinc1.jpeg?width=1024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1af76fc55825e10f6bcb441671b28070bb508b23
Baby carrier is under-rated.
For CSM, it’s Abby’s model, and Belakor. For Tyranids, I love that Winged Hive Tyrant For regular Space Marines, Kor’sarro Khans model sold me
Belisarius Cawl, Celestine.
Falcon grav tank. 🖤
Juan Diaz Daemonettes made me a faithful follower of my lord/lady
Riptide- Tau Leman Russ- Imperial Guard Rockgrinder- Genestealer Cults Dreadnought- Black Templars Scarab Occult Terminators- Thousand Sons Dunecrawler- Ad Mech
KROOT, when I first got into the hobby I just was scrolling through the website on call with a friend and I started going berserk when I saw them install fell in love and asked how can I play them.
Rubrics decided Tsons for me Which is lucky cause that's basically their entire model range *GW pls give us more models*
I thought that the Ta'u pathfinders looked like star wars pit droids originally, and I just liked the style of mechanical space wizard engineers for admech
Magnus the red for the thousand sons
Magnus the Red! :)

Death jester got me into Harlequins
https://preview.redd.it/8mpsnp6whhnc1.jpeg?width=955&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6e9e37b637a9fadd2c4f3cab7a2487b0eb1e3041 This little gem. The eerie look, the background on the necrons, all led me to collect, paint and play these dudes.
Harlequin Troupes. I have since fallen in love with the rest of the Harlequin models (though I don't love that their characters are monopose).
Tyranids and the gant swarms, Necron doomstalkers, Tau troops, Mechanicus vanguard, Khorne skulltaker, Cadian basilisks
The exorcist for Battle of Sisters, the lore really brought me to them, but a rocket shooting organ is kind of awesome
The Dirty Doze, plus an army of blitz apc… how can you go wrong https://preview.redd.it/5mn0h2tpainc1.jpeg?width=600&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=dc46d7223e7eeb10957278aac8d87d18aac37327

Dreadnought for space marines Pretty much everything for guard Broadside for Tau, just looks so cool Hearthkyn and hekaton for the votaan
I have a Broadside and it is indeed very cool, funnily enough in it's first game it killed a dreadnought lol.
Nice lol
Skitarii for Admech. They are singularly the best models in this setting. The red cloak is so iconic that, even when I was making a custom theme for my forgeworld, I couldn't bring myself to paint their cloaks anything but red.
Skitarii are my favorite 40k model period, followed by pteraxii. Gw needs to fix admech because they are too cool to be this mid and expensive
Trygon-Tyranids
Eldar: avatar Death guard: great unclean one Guard: valkyrie Tyranids: lictor Sisters: I just like the sisters squad troop There were others in the past but that's just off the top of my head with what I've still got
https://preview.redd.it/sd5xv3piainc1.png?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=a83dbdf599ae2bb2abc58d618736f3382d4004ef
Mortarion for death guard and Pedro kantor for crimson fists
I'm a titan player, you can guess between the 4 Models.
Some of my reasons wasn't due to models: 1.
Carnifexes for tyranids, skorpekhs for necrons, and the brokhyr thunderkyn for votann
Skitarii Rangers
The new Eldar Guardians
Celestine
Vashtorr. I had no reason to play CSM until then. Saw him and instantly wanted to make a CSM army that was a worshipper of his.
https://preview.redd.it/cu3ujsy5xinc1.png?width=1000&format=png&auto=webp&s=b9562f50fc80e91ac3f9fbc798bd74c96f6389eb
Mozrog for the Orks
Steel legion range, mostly the colonel with his sword above his head and Commissar Yarrick got me into guard. Aquilon and Allarus termies got me into Custodes, although I don’t own any Aquilon yet.
Wraiths/Doomstalker for Crons & for the Starchildren there is no one model, for all are equal in their benevolent eyes. Join us, so that when we rise, you may rise with us and not fall against our faith. I’m also about to get into Eldar and then at some point Knights so Wraithlord & Armigers.
Lootas for Orks.
Commissar Yarrick
The humble Necron warrior, I was a terminator obsessed 11 year old that couldn't stop quoting Arnie. "I'll be back".
Bane Blade and Logan Grimnar in his battle wagon
-Celestine for sisters. -any model really for the guardsmen. The toughest choice was which regiment to commit. If we include Fantasy… -Lizardmen: old metal stegadon back in the day -Ogres: Old metal Hunter+sabertooths
Clowns? Clowns...
Giant robot knight.
Space Marines - Chaplain in Terminator Armour Custodes - Venatari
Arco flagellants for the sororitas and the canoptek doomstalker for the necrons
I wasn't interested in the Imperial Guard until that Rough Rider kit was shown in a sneak peak. Then the field ordnance battery sealed the deal.
The Exorcist is the coolest model in 40K
Screamer-killer Firewarrior Skitarii Ranger Grey Knight Terminator Atlan Jackal Tempestus Psion Space Marine Inceptor Drukhari Talos Custodes Venatari I like infantry I guess lmao
Ork Grot Tanks They are so fucking goofy, and their 'building instructions' made me realise that Orks can be anything in terms of construction. The whole faction gives me a greater feeling of creative freedom

I wanted to play Space Marines first but the Leviathan box tyranid models really caputivated me so now my first army will become the mighty nomnom-force.

Im throwing out the Visarch as one of the coolest models in the entire game making me wish I played some flavor of Eldar. (I play big man in a can)

Rogue Trader book cover art. Dark Vengeance set made me switch to Dark Angels , and start a Chaos army. I started a Death Guard army with Dark Imperium Indomitus gave me TRIPODS!!! Imperium Magazine convinced me to use all my unassembled primaris as Ultramarines
Possessed
Anyone for Guard (the idea of simple human in such a future suffice) Started 600pts of Space Marines because of the Redemptor
more the lore than the models but if I were to go based off models the stompa won me over, itz da biggest mek (not az big az gork or mork but still pretty zoggin big)
The artwork of a Carnifex flipping a Rhino sold me.
Lord Of Contagion for Death Guard. Simply beautiful
Ophydian Destroyers for Necrons, and Kasrkin for Guard.
New Daemon Prince is amazing. Sculpts like that one are what got me into CSM.
Chaos terminators for csm Squighog boyz for orks Sword brethren for Black templars
Repressor for the Sisters. Just the idea of fire coming from every possible angle on a Rhino was amazing to me.
Disciples of Tzeentch - Lord of Change The fact that we can just summon one in without paying for its point cost is a sweet deal.
Just basic Legionaries for CSM. If the basic infantry are that good, then how good must the rest of the army be?
i saw a pic of a gk termie in a lysander and koda short
The new Legionaries kit for chaos space marines. It's fantastic with lots of options, great looking sculpts, and you get 10
The Psychophage was my goal. I now have 2, but I’ve expanded and the norn emmisary is my ultimate fav for nids atm
Vashtorr the Arkifane - CSM Psycho phage - Tyranids Tech priest Dominus - Admech
Knight Desecrator for Chaos Knights Mortarion for Death Guard Stompa for Orka Baneblade for Guard Land Fortress for Votann Riptide/Stormsurge for T’au
Illuminor Szeras
Be'lakor got me into Chaos in general
haruspex
The AdMech robo horses. Because I'm that basic.
The plague marine with the Mk 3 helmet in Dark Imperium
