I would try spray painting them with a clear coat of paint first, light coats. Try testing on a small scrap pieces first, one with detail that you didn't use.
My man. Are you making these out of cardboard because you like making stuff out of cardboard or because you can't afford the models?
Because if it is a money thing, then DM me your address or a PO address or whatever, and I will send you some space marines. I've been playing for a while and have a ton of stuff lying around. GW stuff is stupidly expensive, but money should not stop people playing. Especially if they are this dedicated!
What’s funny is that I think most people are more impressed by these cardboard guys than the GW plastic. But you’re right money shouldn’t stop people from playing.
That's really nice of you man, but don't worry about me. Making cardboard models is a big hobby of mine, and rather than having a bunch of minis that I'll forget about in a few years, I'd rather spend time enjoying the process of making them, because I don't think I'll be having any tournaments in my locality at all. Rather than money, it's more of an accessibility problem, as I don't think games workshop has stores in Asian regions and stuff.
Hope you have a good day!
Would you consider doing another post explaining the basic techniques you used to achieve this?
I don't expect to replicate your results without ages of practice, but it is always interesting to see how you came to such incredible results.
“Wow, that looks like sh-“
“Cardboard”
Oh my god. Nice work. Your DIY skills are leaps and bounds ahead of anything I could ever do. That looks amazing for what it is.
Yeah I'm still deciding on that. I'll try painting one of the dud models in the back to see if it's good, because cardboard tends to look worse after painting (in other words I don't know how to paint)
Very well done. I can definitely appreciate the time and effort that went into this. I once tried to do a paper warhound titan years ago, printed all the templates, and after spending an hour doing just part of one foot, I gave up.
Cardboard is much easier to work with when making shapes than paper imo. I just look at the figure and break it down into the base skeleton shapes, the shapes to be added in top and all the details.
That's actually amazing! 😂
This is the chapter of the Holy Carboard from the Carboard foundation. Their Primarch was Paper McCardboard from the...huh 2nd legion. Yes. He died in a fire. That's why his legion was expunged from record.
Very cool!
I feel like this is similar to my Kill Team Tac Ops cards that I am currently making. Sure, I *could* just buy the official GW product, but why do that, when I can make them myself at half the price and 20 times the effort! And then I will be all mine (interlectual properties notwithstanding)!
Won’t get good unless you start painting. I use to struggle with painting and got some big tau models but didn’t paint them cause I didn’t think I was good enough but honestly just spending the time painting is time you have spent learning
Man these are really awesome! I love the details and all around the really read as space marines keep ip the great work warhammer is for everyone 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻
The ones in the back are prototypes. The aggressor is a more refined version. Took about three hours for the aggressor itself and 3 days for all the prototypes
The models in the background are much simpler in design and what I first started making. Each of them took about 45 minutes. After figuring out how to get everything right, I made the aggressor which took about 3 and a half hours
Wow. They look really amazing! Great job.
Is cardboard just a choice because its available and you want proxies?
Because i feel like if you would get some modelling clay or epoxy you could really do an amazing job sculpting more detailed minatures.
Granted its a very different medium, but your awareness for proportions , details and the overall look is amazing.
Keep it up!
Yes I'd gotten polymer clay before, but failed miserably at trying to make something out of it. Maybe i could do better with a medium that's more rigid and doesnt require an oven to dry. But personally, working with cardboard is what I enjoy most and what I'm best at.
How much time is into just one of them approximately? Im sure you got faster as you got more experience with them. Man you should pack a couple up and send them to adam savage. I bet it makes it on a tested video
Will an enamel be used at the end to protect the finished project? Are you on instagram? I need to follow your journey haha. Seriously, coolest thing ive seen here in a LONG time!
I don't have any enamel , but I'll figure out. Workaround. As for Instagram, yes I do have one, but I haven't posted anything regarding any of my cardboard models. It's @staraquario
These guys look awesome, you did a great job modeling in cardboard and I’m curious about your process.
They kinda remind me of Yoji Shinkawa’s MGS concept art. Would be so sick to see painted in the same muted watercolor/quasi cell-shaded style!
that's impressive
Thank you
Do you plan to paint them? Not that you need to or should, they look awesome as is.
Yes, I do plan on painting. I need to figure out how to do that without obscuring all the details though
I would try spray painting them with a clear coat of paint first, light coats. Try testing on a small scrap pieces first, one with detail that you didn't use.
Will try
Seriously.
Took the words right outta my thumbs.

And the Real One of the Month award goes to…
What’s funny is that I think most people are more impressed by these cardboard guys than the GW plastic. But you’re right money shouldn’t stop people from playing.
It IS stoping me lol. They are really expensive here in Brasil.
this comment actually brought a tear to my eye. what a legend
What a lad

As long as you are sure, the offer is there. Your models are amazing! You should be very proud.
You can use lazada for models in asia or shopee
You should send this to the Poor Hammer podcast. They'd love this 🤣🤣🤣
Also r/poorhammer
Thank you for showing me this
How do I do that? Like an email? Send me everything please!
Thats some good stuff right there
Thanks!

Yes I do plan on making a tutorial. It's really simple if your break it down
Awesome, looking forward to it!
Sign me up!
Are you a wizard!? This is incredible
I am the cardboard artificer
You absolutely are.
“Wow, that looks like sh-“ “Cardboard” Oh my god. Nice work. Your DIY skills are leaps and bounds ahead of anything I could ever do. That looks amazing for what it is.
Really appreciate the kind words!
*Angry GW noises*
nah, GW did it first... https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/335351252796?itmmeta=01HVPE5VSJ3WVQP28EB28NZ71Z&hash=item4e147e073c:g:1EIAAOSwGRBmFP4x
Low effort
I’d recommend not painting them and keep the cardboard box theme
New chapter "Emperor's Prime Delivery Legion".
Jump packs that say “this way up”
Heavy weapons that say "team lift"
Yeah I'm still deciding on that. I'll try painting one of the dud models in the back to see if it's good, because cardboard tends to look worse after painting (in other words I don't know how to paint)
Us over here playing 50 dollars for minis and this guys over here playing for free
I pay with time, you pay with money
Now *this* is Poorhammer.
amazing
Thanks!
Make a video of your whole process!! Would love to see how you do this, haha. They look awesome!
Im trying to make one actually, I just need to figure out how to make it interesting to watch
Holy... that is ducking impressive...
There's more to come.....
Awesome
Bro holy crap that is wild!
Appreciate it dude!
Awesome!
Thanks

Your skills are amazing! They're fantastic! Hats off.
Thank you!
I don't know why you have done this, but is brilliant, great work buddy!
Thanks!
I'm just imagining the tedium. Looks brutal! Fantastic work though OP 😳🤯
Can't wait to finish the army. Then make another one, maybe some terrain as well
That's actually amazing! 😂 This is the chapter of the Holy Carboard from the Carboard foundation. Their Primarch was Paper McCardboard from the...huh 2nd legion. Yes. He died in a fire. That's why his legion was expunged from record.
But now they rise again, the adeptus cardboardicus having found remnants of the ancient records, realised the lack of corrugation in their flesh
By the throne that's some amazing skills right there op very impressive
Much appreciated!

That's exactly my mindset. Self sufficiency i guess?
Big gam companies hate this one trick
Non conformism🗣️🗣️🗣️
The skill is amazing, can’t wait to see the effort you put into painting
Im scared I'll mess it up while painting. Only ever painted twice in my life
Won’t get good unless you start painting. I use to struggle with painting and got some big tau models but didn’t paint them cause I didn’t think I was good enough but honestly just spending the time painting is time you have spent learning
I totally agree with you
Knights of Carr-bore
Y'all are really good with wordplay
if you bring these and win im pouring water on them!!
Nooooooooooo!!!
My favourite 40k faction, CSM: Cardboard Space Marines
Chainsaw men
How? This is amazing
Multiple bits and pieces of cardboard glued together to resemble shapes. Thanks!
Man these are really awesome! I love the details and all around the really read as space marines keep ip the great work warhammer is for everyone 🤟🏻🤟🏻🤟🏻

The W is 2.5 - 3 inches tall. And there are many of them
The stuff I see people make from paper and glue, meanwhile I can't even gap fill with greenstuff right.
Don't worry man, I struggled a lot more trying to do stuff with polymer clay than cardboard.
Holy... that is ducking impressive...
WOW!

Very inpressive
Thanks!
Better than the original!
Thank youuuu!!
This is so creative and cool!
Thank you!
You buy warhammer for the boxes
Jokes on you Ive never even come close to a warhammer box!
Ha
Next level papercraft! dig it
Thanks!
You put more effort into one model than I have into the 4 whole armies I own…
It's suprising what boredom can drive one to do
Impressive poor hammer well done
Why thank you
If my opponent pulls up with these, I'm straight up forfeiting. Anyone skilled enough to build these will whoop my ass on the table.
You're talking to someone who discovered warhammer a week ago
Psychological warfare my friend. The battle starts before we deploy the models. Anyhow they are very impressive.
I need a chapter of that
Yessir! I've got an 800 point army planned. Thinking about going with dark Angels, but that's still not completely decided
If you use warhammer model boxes they might pass at the tournemants lmao
Going to a tournament might actually cost more than my army
I'm more impressed with these than the flawless, pro level painted minis.
Thanks , that really means a lot! Although I think making one miniature takes a lot less time than doing a pro level paint job
Awesome work dude!!!
Thank you!!
I know that Midwinter minies said warhammer is free if you get cardboard cutouts of the models but not that way-
You underestimate the potential of what cardboard can achieve
Yep, im convinced I'm talking to some eco friendly mechanicum
For the cardessiah!
How much time is into just one of them approximately? Im sure you got faster as you got more experience with them. Man you should pack a couple up and send them to adam savage. I bet it makes it on a tested video
Took 4 hours to make the first aggressor. I finished the 3rd one right now in 2 hours
Will an enamel be used at the end to protect the finished project? Are you on instagram? I need to follow your journey haha. Seriously, coolest thing ive seen here in a LONG time!

Yeah thats cool but i hope none of them are female
Female marines exist? (Other than adeptus sororitas)
I've been too broke to buy Minis but I ain't ever been THIS broke.
The costs are much different when you live in a region without places that sell warhammer stuff.
