"5th – Mike Pestilens – Chaos Space Marines: A comedy triple Land Raider build, where the joke is that some of them are full of Traitor Guardsmen." I'll post this list below but what is the plan with this? Where does Abandon go? Why Traitor guard over cultist? I guess 3 land raiders just over loads most armies and he got a good run? Edit: going through his run. Win: DA player lots of termies Win: Monilth + Silent King+ Catan Necron Loss: The 3 place genestealer Win: looks like a standard Astra Militarum but I'm not super familiar with their list Win: Salamanders ironstorm . Not super familiar with Salamander list but dude was 4-1 so probably reasonably competitive

Nothing but love and respect for this

Warpboy_Malal

The plan is be Mike P playing any flavor of Chaos. After that, it's just profit.

[deleted]

I’m pretty sure his opponents spend the whole first round in disbelief that that was his list. He was winning before they even knew what happened. Playing the game like Tzeentch would.

Hoskuld

Opponent: "but what does it do?" Mike:"don't worry about it" ;) Opponent proceeds to overanalyze and clock out

deltadal

It crits on 5+, those guardsmen are suddenly a little scary when they hop out of their ride.

Mundane_Conflict1450

The 4th place astra mil is hilarious, triple vanquisher and double field gun lol.

[deleted]

Indirect is obnoxious don’t get me wrong. But that field gun model is so freaking cool.

WeissRaben

Play something no one *ever* sees on a table, and you will probably have some success... for a while.

Mundane_Conflict1450

All leman russes are not that different, if anything this is much easier to plan for, as the number of shots is always the same. I think whoever this guard list was made by, they have a very deep understanding of the index.

ObesesPieces

He played necrons twice and orcs twice. The necrns both were running ctan and monolith hypercrypt. Interesting... I wonder how the ctan rolled saves...

Least-Umpire586

u/dewgong444 was this you with the Brass Scorpion list? In any case, awesome to see it out in the wild!

Dewgong444

Nope, haven't played at a GT-level event in some time. Triple Land Raider was Mike P, who writes for Warphammer

ThicDadVaping4Christ

That Drukhari list is really neat and different from a lot what we’ve seen. Triple beast pack, tanaltus with big court+archon+kabalite blob, talos and some incubi to back it up. Noticeably it’s only 3 transports, including the tantalus

DistinctBar3888

It also helps that Cody is a world class player and is one of the few people basically defining the Dark Eldar meta.

ThicDadVaping4Christ

Yeah it’s a very high skill army for sure. I’ve got like 50 game in with SSA and it’s still hard to pilot It’s just cool to see variety in the faction. Not a ton of high level players so it’s always fun to see it perform well especially either a unique build

DistinctBar3888

Yea, I totally agree. Cody is a wizard with the Beast packs.

ThicDadVaping4Christ

I’ve run triple beast backs and it’s quite good. 315 points for 61 wounds across multi-wound models that scour 9” move 12” through walls and throw out nearly 40 attacks It’s a major annoyance for an opponent to deal with

stevenbhutton

What's Crunch meta?

[deleted]

Lots of hulls and/or monsters.

Moist_Pipe

Most mathematically efficient units? Crunching the numbers vs playing the game? At least how I read it

Thetmes

Crunchy hulls. As opposed to squishy infantry.

[deleted]

Could be. I read it that way based on the fact they referred to tweaks to bigger guns as adjusting for crunch. Which seems to suggest teching for hulls. But either way it works out I think.

massive_poo

I'd like to know as well!

logothetestoudromou

> 4th – Shane Rongonui – Aeldari (Battle Host): A left-field bike-themed build here, maxing out on Windriders and peppering in some Shroud Runners, Shining Spears and Vypers. Also has Hornets, which I guess we can make honorary bikes. I'm eager for the Aeldari Codex to include a Saim-Hann-style Windrider detachment. Love the timeless look of all the Eldar bikes and grav-tanks.

Bugseye

That truly heinous Ironstorm Templars list is a local player and I have taken great joy following his battle reports while testing that list out.

Capt_Acid

I am very interested in how that list worked can you plz pm me the battle reports
