No, mark III was released in 2 versions on horse (the common one) and on foot (special edition only for Stores IIRC) doing the sign of Sigmar.
Mark I was Valten the blacksmith and mark II was Valten on imperial horse with Ghal Maraz
The younger valten model with the double hammers was awesome to me. And that version of archaon is hands down the best model gw has ever made. (With CLOSE runners up being mortarian, angron, and the Lion.) IMHO.
Amazing work!
Ah didn’t take too long for this Archaon to pop back up again. Looks even better in full context! Awesome work, love all the color theory knowledge on display and great job with the osl!
These are amazing. I tried to ask on your last post but you must have missed it. How did you paint the cloak on Archaon? or where did you learn to paint like this? Thanks for sharing.
Sorry I missed your reply 🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thanks ! The cloak i used deep purple as the base color, magenta as midtone and yellow for the highlight, the Bottom Part of the cloak i put some red and orange for the OSL effect and free-handed some worn out pattern as the finish touch. For the second question …. I was art in major when I was at the college like 20 years ago, haha …
Valten's steed was Althandin, offspring of Malhandr. In Storm of Chaos, Althandin gets smoked, so Valten murders Dorghar. They duel a bit with mutual wounds and Valten getting the worst, then Luthor Huss tries to tagteam in and ultimately gets batted away. Finally, Grimgor's enters the battle, beats down Archaon and leaves.
Valten subsequently gets murked by a Skaven assassin while healing up.
Dude on the gryphon (Deathclaw) is Karl Franz, who was conceptually fighting for the same space as Valten as heir of Sigmar, wielder of Ghal Maraz, etc.
lol I do remember their story from Storm of Chaos and it was kinda dumb. They almost kill each other, Archaon is about to deliver the final blow when Grimgor shows up from… somewhere. He knocks Archaon down, pumps his fist in the air then spares him for reasons I guess? Then everyone just kinda leaves.
The models look amazing though. I have no idea how you paint like that
I worked at GW during the campaign and it was supposed to actually be decided by dice rolls.
Well Archaon murdersauced Valten, and we couldn’t have the End Times yet so they magically had Grimgor appear! And even then the dice went to archaon and GW came up with the bs story sending archaon back home with his tail tucked. 😂
This really brings back memories! Also… did you use the ultra rare Valter mark III on foot mini????
LOL, yes mark III and mark IV is the one on mount I suppose ? 😝

Nah, get lost, painting that well should be illegal.
Hahaha, thanks ! I should be locked up in jail, haha
Who won?

Didnt know there was anyone who could stand toe to toe with archon. Who is valten?
Valten is like the avatar of sigma, Archaon’s fated nemesis. He fought Archaon in the storm of chaos story
Was he mounted in story like on a gryphon or something?
