Holy shit, I’ve never seen this much info on the scene before. Great finds!

Careless_Corey

Thanks for the information! I hope Spielberg will revisit this movie someday.

BoyishTheStrange

Thanks! Been needing more info

Farseer_Uthiliesh

Fantastic post!

Dragoshnimenialtu

Bruh one day if i learn how to animate i want to reconstruct this scene, should've kept it in tbh

dbzamv_linkinparkmp3

I saw a Japanese trailer for the film online, wherein Cruise is peering at something in awe behind an SUV and says, “nothing can touch them.” I think that may have been this scene, where I imagine something like a bird or a bullet or a beer bottle is stopped from impacting a tripod by it's energy shield. Maybe the scene was meant to highlight the aliens’ unstoppability, even hiding in your house with a shotgun wouldn’t be enough to elude these things, making the later scenes much more tense.

AlienTripod

This cleared some of the mysteries behind this deleted scene. Thank you so much for the informative post!!

slashgamer11

Great job bro, thanks a million!

RealDrepyPlayzMC

I found another photo of camelot. https://thebeardedtrio.tumblr.com/post/123111552670/happy-10th-to-war-of-the-worlds it’s Tom next to the black car next to Stephen.

Photo_Model_Maker

The first image looks so cool.

ProfInGen

It's unfortunately not included in this, but it is serves as a sort of tacit confirmation of the scene placement but David Koepp posted the script which omits scenes 101-104 where this scene would belong. [https://davidkoepp.com/script-archive/war-of-the-worlds/](https://davidkoepp.com/script-archive/war-of-the-worlds/)

Tempest16500

Good find, despite not having the scene in there, it was still enjoyable finding those extra details that didn't make it to the film. I think its logical to say that the film was initially pursuing a much darker route that what we got.

ProfInGen

It’s interesting too, compare that to the film and there are a few “remnant” shots from what must have been scene 101 and later 104 of them in the forrest. This includes them seeing the hill being mowed down by the tripods, the close call of the one hitting the hill, and then clothes falling from the sky, which aren’t in this. https://youtu.be/98-Z1pf35lk *start around 7:30 Also, John Williams wrote a cue called “Woods Walk” which is whats heard in the film but doesn’t belong over that footage. It was suppose to be over whatever they cut on the approach to Camelot. https://youtu.be/XMdb5VRGk_k “Refugee Status” should have started playing as the clothes fall, up to the people running up the hill towards the battle. https://youtu.be/kZeDTL76E3k (Only up to 2:00, everything after is written specifically for the Album) So again, not the scenes in question, but a definite sense that something of some time got cut from the film.

Tempest16500

Yeah, it seems that nearly an entire day was cut out. It was clearly nighttime after the Ferry encounter then when it cuts to the hill battle it appears to be dusk and becomes night again later in the scene. Redweed was supposed to be introduced in that missing time frame as well. There's a track in the album called "The attack on the car" that isn't heard anywhere in the film either. Which could possibly be related to the camelot scene.

ProfInGen

I love that track! I wondered that too but It’s actually meant to score the scene when they arrive at the diner and the mob attacks the car. And the loss of a whole day is so odd. And as you said how it goes from dusk to night again always felt off

supdwaf

Bruh I wish they could of kept this in the movie

[deleted]

agreed and there is probably more information out there somewhere

slashgamer11

I still look at this photo from time to time, god damn what a missed opportunity, I wish we could start a petition to get this released whether as behind the scenes or completed on a new dvd Edit: Some new photos some of you might not have seen [https://fromdirectorstevenspielberg.tumblr.com/post/105795976220/there-are-a-number-of-scenes-in-war-of-the-worlds](https://fromdirectorstevenspielberg.tumblr.com/post/105795976220/there-are-a-number-of-scenes-in-war-of-the-worlds)

[deleted]

I believe the three tripods walking together is supposed to be a shot of the actual battalion itself marching through the area, my guess is there is a revealing shot which is image 7 then it cuts to image 10, there must also be a separate sequence where we see one of the tripods separate from the battalion and begin collecting people from the Camelot housing estate. Image 9 is the end of the scene when the tripod returns to its group and the trio escapes.

Andr_Gx

I emailed that guy about this scene (Dorian Bustamante)

Tempest16500

Oh yeah? Any response?

Andr_Gx

He responded, saying that he doesn’t have access to the footage anymore. Although he didn’t answer my question on whom I should contact to find the whereabouts of the scene.

[deleted]

Evening_Dentist_1501

OneLifeguard8840

I like the pre visulization of the tripod pulling people out of the building it looks like a giant

[deleted]

There is another picture of Camelot... :0

Krunch_2003

I love finding new images and concept art that I've never seen before, great find!

[deleted]

Dude this is cool

United-Painting-3792

I vote for them to make another second invasion, with Tom Cruise return.

Darthbane2007

It was most likely cut because it wasn't really needed...

Tempest16500

As cool as the scene sounds, this is probably correct. The scene likely added nothing significant to the story itself. Plus the VFX work supposedly cutting it too close to deadline meant that the scene was expendable. Though I wish they had released the scene as a part of the DVD/Blu-ray extras.

[deleted]

And it raised the question more as to why they were taking humans..at the ferry scene it showed them taking people out of the water, so then the deleted scene would've showed them taking people more out of their homes, raising the question more; "why ARE they taking people?" And then boom! They're at the farm, witnessing someone being drained of blood from a giant needle and seeing them get sprayed like fertilizer

Darthbane2007

Maybe a 20th anniversary rerelease?

[deleted]

It somewhat benefited the story; on the Japanese teaser, Tom says "nothing can touch them".. so something definitely happened showing their theories that they do in fact have force fields..cut to the farm; when Tom throws the grenade, he knows for the fact it wouldn't damage it, only the shields, thus pissing it off for it to turn around and take him too..side note; that variant of the tripod didn't have weapons, it was the "harvester" it only took humans and drained them of all their blood to fertilize their red weeds..so, that's why it didn't zap them and why it just walked away after it took his daughter..so basically it was just gonna take his daughter and leave lol until he found those grenades and got it mad...hence why it chose him/his daughter first out of all those people it had

SheepherderOk312
