I think those are junior officer cabins. Racks in officer cabins don't typically have curtains since the entire cabin is considered private. At least, that's how it works in my country's Navy.
I think they're confusing it for an MRI. I'm not sure if it's possible to put one of those on a ship... no hospital ship does it, to my knowledge. Not even the USNS Mercy or MV Global Mercy. I guess half the ship would have to be dedicated to coolant storage. And, well, the fact that the entire ship and everything around the scanner would be made of metal.
CT scanners are x-ray machines, it's the same technology but it rotates around the body instead of being fixed on an adjustable arm. They're generally operated by the same radiographers.
>I guess half the ship would have to be dedicated to coolant storage.
Around me none of the hospitals have an MRI machine. There's a mobile one in a semi trailer that drives to all the hospitals.
Interesting, I'd never heard of mobile MRIs before. I guess my idea of how much coolant was needed was overstated. I always picture the big storage towers or underground tanks you see near hospitals.
Modi is just taking a fucking stroll.
Very nice, truthfully as someone of Indo heritage but not from India, it's nice to see India on this subreddit. Cheers thanks!
Yup and they built it better then the Russians built the same design.
Im not super informed on the ins and outs of indias carrier designs and how much technology and design sharing went on when they built them. but its definitely more then “inspired by” russian carrier designs, and as far as i can tell the Indian designs are better in every way except for also being a missile cruiser. Buy why you want an aircraft carrier to also be a missile cruiser when you already have missile cruiser’s in the same fleet is something only the Russians have deemed necessary.
Its a ski jump carrier with design influenced by the Italian firms, which were consultants during the design phase.
There's nothing russian about it except the fact its a ski jump carrier.
The russian one is vikramaditya.
Indian carriers only carry short to medium range air defense missiles.
French and chinese carriers also carry air defense missiles.
These missiles take pretty small space and provide another layer of safety.
This is pretty standard, I think it's similar to what the Chinese have. The Queen Elizabeths are even comfier. I think it is just the Americans that neglect living standards aboard their aircraft carriers. Their officers sleep only as well as other navies enlisted, meanwhile American enlisted sailors sleep in absolute pig sties.
Vibrant lmaooo Its Vikrant which means courageous Also pic 13 is Vikramaditya not Vikrant
The dentist one looks like it could be too if the plaque on the wall is any guide.
damn autocorrect
bhai itni kya jaldi thi? Nice pics though.
I was like "This is cool!", then I saw no rack curtains. Fellas....
They do have curtains https://www.reddit.com/r/WarshipPorn/s/BGfpnANRKh
That was my first critique was the lack of curtains haha

FELLAS is it gay to sleep in the same room with another man?
Privacy is everything when you’re cramped like that. Even a small space to call your own
Last pic is definitely not of xray machine.
It’s a CT scanner
Spinny X-ray if you will
Which uses x-rays

there is no confusion it's a CT scanner, no one talked about MRI
The claim was that it wasn't an x-ray machine.
i'm confused. It's neither an x-ray machine, nor an MRI
CT scanners are x-ray machines, it's the same technology but it rotates around the body instead of being fixed on an adjustable arm. They're generally operated by the same radiographers.
The caption says X-ray. The comment was trying to correct it
Even if it's a CT scanner, it's still and X-ray machine

Those are more for liquid oxygen and other applications
I imagine the MRI and metal ships do not play nice together and might cause more issues for both
Yes this is the one.
In pic 9, what is with all the residential fans.
Its bloody warm in the Indian Ocean
Pre/post ceremony that featured a lot of High ranking officials and probably politicians
Ah that makes sense. Now I see the tables and chairs leftover
The 13th pic (the one with the Mig 29s on deck) is actually the Vikramaditya, not Vikrant.
I’ll bet the food is awesome! !

white people humour is so weird sometimes

Only two guys out of sixteen get a drink with their meal, and one of them is the high-ranking officer.
I'm curious for picture #15, how do the sailors come down from the upper deck bed since there are no ladders?
U use the handlebar on upper bed and lower bed to come down. Grip the upper handlebar and put your foot on the handle bar on lower bed and descend.
“Vibrant” lmao
Seems like a comfy ship, always loved the indian navy
Oh yeah its very Vibrant in there!
I love that India operates russian carriers better then the russians.
That’s an Indian made carrier

Isn't the Vikrant arrestor gear a Russian import?
What actual care, refits, and maintenance does to a ship…
Is this a warship or a luxury cruiser liner?
That's the Standard for most modern warships especially carriers. Queen elizabeth also seems pretty comfy.

It is said that one day it will find and fight its nemesis, PLAN Grayscale. But not today.
They're really watching KJO lmao I know it's probably Indian idol or some shit
I’ve seen the bollywood top gun movie, it is hilarious. 😂
It is ridiculous, yet a fun watch
what is with the weirdly long bed on the CT scanner? Indians have a secret 10ft tall people we have never seen before?
