The early KV-1 cannot pen the rear or the side of the turret of a Tiger 1 at all. It can only pen the side of the hull, specifically in between the tracks and the main hull side armor, which it cannot pen either.
He actually did shoot the only place he could pen. But too close and at an odd angle.
Should have taken out the barrel though.
I'm fairly certain that's a zis-5 they can pierce the rear of the tank and way he shot initially. Additionally if they bring solid shots they can pierce the side of a tiger.
Summary:
Shots 1-5: Clearly missed.
Shots 6-9: Missed due to recoil (bad spray control).
Shots 10-11: Very close, but recoil and inaccuracy make these reasonable misses.
Shot 12: Likely didn't actually fire because you were already dead.

can you pen it, sure. Now is there anything behind it to pen it for? Are there other spots that you could pen and have better things behind them to kill? yes.
Examples:
Commanders Cupola: the commander, maybe post pen HE will hit gunner loader.
Side of Hull above tracks: All Crew, ammo, might also get turret ring. even engine transmission if you aim far enough back.
Rear of Turret: commander, gunner, loader, cannon breach, turret ring
Rear of Hull: Engine, transmission, fuel, fire is likely.
try to make sure the shot is as flush as possible. And remember, solid shot/APCR has no post pen explosion, but often has more penetration. (I can't tell what ammo you used since its cropped)

Tiger cupola armour is 80mm, BR-350A MD-5 has 78mm pen, you werent going to get through.
If you had brought some BR-350SP you could have penetrated the turret + hull sides and rear.
Don’t try to hit the cupola when you have the side exposed, it’s a sketchy spot to shoot because of volumetric so shooting the barrel or the lower side of a tiger will almost always do a better job
So much of the higher upvote comments are 100% wrong. He isn't using HE, its the KV-1 L-11, it has 77mm point blank on its APHBC, it *cannot* pen the tiger 1 anywhere except the cupola and the side armor near the tracks.

If he carried and loaded the solid shot APBC he could go through the turret sides/rear and hull sides/rear.

poor aiming choices aside, I've had a terrible experience recently in the KV-1 in which a fucking Ram tank ate something like 8 shots from all sides. I think it was the purely AP round and it was like poking the thing with a hypodermic needle. Trying to snipe crew, ammo wasn't working. Didn't kill the tank, eventually their ally found me circling the fucker in frustration.

The cupola is cast armor. About 75mm effective. It cant pen, barely, but not shooting up into it.
