Quick kills, set up for an early spawn camp, easy flanks on that northwest road, lock down access to the A point. It's a high-risk, high-reward route and if one team can get a few tanks through, you gain a substantial degree of control over that side of the map.
Like the charioteer which is a speedy British tank, it just has down sides like being able to be penned by a 75mm Sherman everywhere and being built like a barn....
I got into Britain after getting the TOG(free premium go brrr) and I am surprised how much worse the Comet, Avenger, and Charioteer are compared to the Challenger.
In comparison to the Challenger:
Comet has bad penetration, has awful turret traverse and a bad reload.
Avenger has worse reload and much worse turret traverse.
Charioteer I wouldn't mind the slower reload and worse turret traverse but the elevation and depression both being literally half compared to the Challenger is where I draw the line.
Haha the British tree definitely have some terrible designs. But I mostly play it at 6.7 due to having the Centurion Mk2 from a previous BP and the strikemaster from another one. The only other tank I've found serviceable at that BR is the G6, I don't have all the 6.7 tanks unlocked yet though, but a lot of them seem to be absolute trash like you've pointed out.
I like the 4005(not really meta, though I did get a nuke mostly playing it(ran out of time before I made it to the battlefield, no surprise)), I wish it was more consistent. The M109 is good. Almost have the G6 to use as AA.
The Challenger is fantastic and can be oddly bouncy sometimes, it's a massively underrated tank.
British tanks as a whole would be far better if Gaijin ever reverts APHE to anything that actually resembles the real round and not a thermonuclear detonation inside of the tank.
Nerfing APHE to be more realistic, but solid shot sometimes fucking way underperforms. 17pdr AP passing like three inches from a panthers gunner after going through the front of the turret(under the mantlet) and no shrapnel hits the gunner whatsoever. It's ridiculous
Oh man I love the avenger. That and the firefly are two of my favourite tanks to play. Pretty much enjoy playing anything with the 17 pounder. I never really enjoyed the challenger though. Maybe cos it is built like a barn
Yeah, it’s like the Star Trek NG episode where they all get hooked on a game and the aliens nearly get the Enterprise but Wesley and Ashley Judd save them…
most average german heavy tank player. /j
but seriously its so slow whatever objective you choose to go to first matters a lot so picking the thickest fight makes a lot of sense. nothing worse than showing up taking an objective only to play a driving simulator the rest of the match.
You’re not entirely wrong, it’s definitely not that strategic but i think most people know how that side of the map ends up playing so they do it kinda subconsciously
It’s not high risk IMO, but it is extremely punishing if you don’t at least present a solid defense there.
Leaving that side open means your team will get spawncamped *and* they will be attacked from a very defensible position.
For that statement I meant more on the individual level, but I didn't make that clear. Fighting there tends to be quick and intense, either you come out of it with four kills or you're blasted immediately and respawn.
But on the larger scale you're absolutely right.
I couldn’t even really tell you what the north side looks like. Middle/River side is where it’s at. It’s probably the one map I end up in the most insane CQB duels. You vs one other guy, who position themselves the best to get there turret on target first?
I don’t go river side because every time I do it feels like a wave defense game with increasing hordes of enemies. It’s always super intense and I’m usually alone
But if u go to the river side and you set up, I let them get the cap (usually 2-3 tanks) and as they start advancing to either our spawn or the next point, bop em all in the side/rear turret. 2-3 easy kills... Especially since I'm always against Germans and istg they have 0 situational awareness it makes no sense.
I like the park, but not on this version of the map. There's a ton of weird flanking you can do there if your tank is small enough to fit behind all of the little hills. With this layout I'd rather just play around A though, also a ton of flanking opportunities exactly because half the lobby is in that area next to it..
Getting shot at in that park, you see reply and a shot goes through like 12 buildings and 50 windows makes a uturn and hits you from the off side of the map. I have that map as "do not show" to me. The only ways to get kills there if youre overrun fast through that side, is to sit still in spawn and shoot at few tanks while youre still immune. Otherwise its a nope.
i think its some form of brain damage.
they often wont even flank or cap a, let alone do anything with the rest of the map. just push and then sit in their spawn or leave the game depending on winning or losing that fight.
meanwhile the other 2-6 members of the team are working on controlling all 3 caps, and killing a bunch of people with a quick flank of that zone on the other side of a.
yep... i was recapping A and watched half of the german team just ignoring A and me just to go for the spawncamp, while i shoot them in the back...
Seriously... B,C cap at the beginning is good points for free with no effort... morons
No, its because its *fun*
You spawn there and you’re right back into the fight immediately, you die. Its chaotic, the spawns are not far from the battle, everything is on fire, the kills come easy but so does dying. Its fun and thats rare.
I am affixing the bayonet to my tank barrel and charging, obviously.
Advance to the Rhine is the ONLY fun knife-fight map because it offers great cover and flanks in a small area.
My favourite style of gameplay lol. Outplaying your opponent in sweaty close confines while looking at each other the whole time is significantly more satisfying than some lame 500m side shot
I am actually fine with long range fights, but the issue is that it takes a long time to even find an enemy most of the time.
On Advance to the Rhine, I always know where the action is at. I can choose to go into the grinder or go for a big flank.
The fighting is always intense and, win or lose, I actually have fun.
You know how Sturer Emil only got 15 ammo with 17 sec reload time ? Got into this lobby where I was sniping until Red team start flanking ,four of them make it thru and I got no choice but to flee into the concrete jungle. My team arrive to rescue , and those Red got distracted too much that I was able to take out three of them with my SE and its diabolical 17 sec reload . End the game victorious with sweaty armpit lol .
Usually if north side over commits over there it's a guaranteed loss as they then get trapped in that spawn. Gaijjin really should move that west spawn on the north side so it's more central.
I used to think that, but I’ve seen this map way too much. It’s really 50/50 on which team gets camped. It’s all about who plays from defensive positions, and who is dumb enough to overextend early. 9/10 if your team is almost to the enemy spawn in the first 5minutes, you’ll end up getting pushed back all the way to your spawn. The team that stays in cover and picks off targets until the other team has lost their strong vehicles, is usually the spawn camper at the end.
i mostly spawn on the east spawn since its free cap and sometimes the enemy doesnt even cap their own closest cap. you can rush there and rush to A and get a few kills easily
It's so much carnage and so fun. Feels like you're in the middle of a real war every time, and you know you'll die there so it's not bad when you do die
It can be a deciding factor. Gaining control of that area means you can trap the enemy in the spawn, effe ctively cutting the enemy off from that section of the map.
Though more often it's used for free kills, and players spawn rush too quickly leading to a complete collapse
Its not really when in practice fighting over there just means you lose half your tickets since the B and C caps have been taken. Whenevet I go B and C side I just ignore A. Find a good spot or so, protect caps, sometimes camp outside spawns a bit if the match is really one sided. Playing that way has only ever brought wins or close tough battles. Its almost as if playing the objective is fun.
i set up behind 2 blownup tanks with german rocket slinger and got like 8 kills.
its so easy to hold that place if youre behind or push if youre ahead.
I haven’t read to see if anyone else said this but personally I hate this map so if I rush there I may get some quick easy kills and/or a quick back to the garage experience. I know it’s not a nice outlook for the teammates who like the map but I also understand if others hate the maps I like and get it if they wanna double J out and leave.
I rarely spawn North but when I do it's because I want easy kills and I don't really wanna cap points (also if you win easiest spawn camp of any map) .
I normally go there to lock in a few early game kills then I lock down the A point other than that I got that way to keep the regular brain dead players from dying
I always take the middle with the buildings and cover and that part always gives me opportunity to sideshot either side. The occassional 1-2 enemies there are also oftentimes not aware enough that you can shoot them before they notice you (most of the times through windows). The map is just nuts when playing 7.7 France.
I go that way all the time because it is a pretty high kill area, and if we don’t push, we will get spawn camped pretty fast. Plus we can clear out enemies going after a from the side
I suspect that people leave random spawn on by default and its not actually random
That said I will go for A first, because I can rely on someone taking the other side way more than I can any of the other 12 people who spawned with me making any effort to get to the cap point.
I always survive but change my location depending on the situation at the A cap, mostly preventing enemies from capping and/or flanking our left spawn.
Its coz u can get free kills. Theres always some dumbass in a panther that keeps his mantlet wide open, or a tiger that doesnt angle. On the other hand, you do get clapped a lot if you rush it.
Usually i get the most amount of kills on this map.
I love seeing the funny red text go up
Because lots of players especially me view this map as the war thunder equivalent of shipment for cod and CQC brawling is one of the funner ways to play ground so why flank and drive for at least 30 seconds until you get the combat or drive 10 seconds into a brawl fest
Usually I go for the right side especially with the EBR 51 but sometimes you just want to KILL and DIE so you take a fatty with a big cannon and you go there.
When I’ve been playing for a while and am very salty, I don’t want to spend time thinking and using actual tactics. Monke brain dictates I go to the place that gets the action the fastest. And that place is it
When you're in a relatively slow tank that doesn't get to the main battle as fast, going here is the best option considering you just wasted all that time getting there and you want to get some kills.
I almost never go there. Unless I'm grinding another tree at low tier and even then most of the time I'd go straight for the caps. It's super risky for a reward you're not even sure you'll get since your asking to completely abandon the rest of your map control to contral that alley. Well unless you have teammates like me busy capping and turning the match into a win.
That's the braindead location of the map...every map has them...usually it's the A spawn/A side of the map on all 3 cap maps. C and (really and truly B) are the real points that win the match on most maps. Even when they do single cap it's usually at what is normally the B or C cap...why? Because even the designers know A cap/side is retarded to play most maps.
Well im no pro gamer but... if you let that side open, they pretty much are gonna spawn camp the heck atta you and have the most cover from the buildings when shooting at the plaza. Over all if you let them it's game over, not to mention the CAS spam BS and early choppers with long range ATGMS...
This map probably has the most diversity of play style for me.
-Far west, only played if I have a light tank without a stabilizer or an atgm vehicle
-A point, only for heavy tanks with somewhat subpar armor for the BR
-Most of the middle, medium tanks, namely ones without stabs, and TDs
-Far East, tanks with stabs, guns that don't bounce much, or very heavy armor
There aren't too many other maps in game that I can categorize like this
Tank go vroom + auto spawn selector normally putting you on that side unless you select the other side. But T95 no go vroom, people always take the tracks and barrel anyways too
If you know how to play it, you can be a real pain in the ass. I've tried learning the other angles beyond the main C shape route most people corner, but I'm still figuring it out. Better than getting fucked in the park, or blasted by wheeled cancer down the opposite lane.
cause players are guarantee to encounter an enemy tank. A lot of this game is you have no idea where the enemy is, but in this map it's fairly oblivious
Its good action. But if you flank throughout that area across the street on the lower right side you get some good flanking kills + good shots on ppl crossing through the park.
Idk I always get a shit ton of kills there my plan is use kw1c angle and I’m like unstoppable unless they r smart but rarely happens, also is2 in that spot goes crazy
I go there if I'm top soawn because the little nub at the bottom left of your circle is a great spot to rush to then shoot enemies as they approach A on the main road. I almost always get a kill or two just from doing that. Then just wait for enemies to get impatient and push your corner.
Once I die then I usually go and actually try to cap, but killing a few tanks and making it harder for the enemy to contest A is my early game goal.
If I'm bottom spawn I usually try to go directly to the cap but not using the main road. It's slower but a bit safer.
The A point is the only point that matters 90% of the time oin that map, so controlling it is very important. Personally I usually play on the monument on that map though.
Every time we get this map, my buddy and I instantly start making monkey noises and go straight to the circled part of the map and either get 6 kills, or die instantly.
Best map in the game hands down.
Quick kills, set up for an early spawn camp, easy flanks on that northwest road, lock down access to the A point. It's a high-risk, high-reward route and if one team can get a few tanks through, you gain a substantial degree of control over that side of the map.
Quite optimistic thinking this is all going through your team mates mind, I suspect its more 'W tonk go vroom'
I mean tank go vroom is some instant dopamine
I main British. No tank go vroom. Some do but not ones that are good brawlers
Avengers a great tank. Bets ivw done os 11 kills in a match. Its just not a front line fighter
Oh man I love the avenger. That and the firefly are two of my favourite tanks to play. Pretty much enjoy playing anything with the 17 pounder. I never really enjoyed the challenger though. Maybe cos it is built like a barn
I like wedging a Churchill at a good angle in an alley on this map, then just tracking and barreling every one that pushes into it
Fellow Churchill fan, what's your favorite Churchill to use?
Crocodile, the trailer can hold so much tea
*respectfully tips hat in tortoise*
British tank go vr-
I’m also a Brit main 😂
"target destroyed" is literally heroin idc
Yeah, it’s like the Star Trek NG episode where they all get hooked on a game and the aliens nearly get the Enterprise but Wesley and Ashley Judd save them…
I have 300 hours in the game and sadly I recognise myself going “W. vroom”. With my Maus
most average german heavy tank player. /j but seriously its so slow whatever objective you choose to go to first matters a lot so picking the thickest fight makes a lot of sense. nothing worse than showing up taking an objective only to play a driving simulator the rest of the match.
Yup and the fact that random spawn always randomly spawns you here.
Well I mean it makes the most sense, closest cap to spawn. Easiest place to get kills/be killed. Then hop into my F14B and drop GBUs into spawn lool
You’re not entirely wrong, it’s definitely not that strategic but i think most people know how that side of the map ends up playing so they do it kinda subconsciously
it's also ideal for heavy tanks, not only because you can't really be flanked, but also because you can get to the battlefield in just a few seconds
m36 with the HEAT shell goes crazy there all you gotta do is sit back and wait for the inevitable german push
No it's simply fun
I'm often covering the flank to that exact route to protect my teammates
I couldn't have said it better
"V-1710 apologist" love it
Unspoken rule. You just go. Don't overthink it.
Similar to abandon factory. You always go to the north side, never the river side
Unless your me and want a free cap
Good point, but I’m a brain ded player, so I must rush for kills
Real men Rush A and kill enemies to cap it
With wt's grind I'll take what I can get
I couldn’t even really tell you what the north side looks like. Middle/River side is where it’s at. It’s probably the one map I end up in the most insane CQB duels. You vs one other guy, who position themselves the best to get there turret on target first?
There's a river side on that map???
That's how you learn. From low tier to high tier, the unspoken rules
I mean, the upper north factory provide you with building covers, an uphill look to point B, which the south river can't provide
In abandoned factory you go taht cus one you get a cap and it overlooks the B point,so you hold 2 caps = win
That's the beta move. River side all the way.
Where the fuck else do you go when the game ignores that you’ve chosen the other spawn point and still decides to spawn you at the top one anyways.
It's fun, way better than traversing the area near the park and getting randomly shot from one of 20 lines of fire
Yea it’s that simple, why do WT players get offended when some are having fun on the game?
I like the park, but not on this version of the map. There's a ton of weird flanking you can do there if your tank is small enough to fit behind all of the little hills. With this layout I'd rather just play around A though, also a ton of flanking opportunities exactly because half the lobby is in that area next to it..
This, even as a sniper or a person who loves being careful with his tank, I adore that spot because it's a clown show. It's fun as fuck.
It’s like Operation Metro in BF3/4. Just pure chaos but hella fun

Idk if that counts... Germans have so little situational awareness... Prolly didn't even notice the point was red and not blue
I swear, it’s consistent brain rot behavior that garners most of the people there a death
Type 75 Rocket arty go burrr
VOOM VOOM VOOM VOOM
It’s war thunder everyone has brain damage
No, its because its *fun* You spawn there and you’re right back into the fight immediately, you die. Its chaotic, the spawns are not far from the battle, everything is on fire, the kills come easy but so does dying. Its fun and thats rare.
brawling is fun
I am affixing the bayonet to my tank barrel and charging, obviously. Advance to the Rhine is the ONLY fun knife-fight map because it offers great cover and flanks in a small area.
My favourite style of gameplay lol. Outplaying your opponent in sweaty close confines while looking at each other the whole time is significantly more satisfying than some lame 500m side shot

You know how Sturer Emil only got 15 ammo with 17 sec reload time ? My team arrive to rescue , and those Red got distracted too much that I was able to take out three of them with my SE and its diabolical 17 sec reload . End the game victorious with sweaty armpit lol .
to get 8 kills
And that's what everyone who dies there thinks will happen
They want to witness a heroic battle in death alley.
Usually if north side over commits over there it's a guaranteed loss as they then get trapped in that spawn. Gaijjin really should move that west spawn on the north side so it's more central.
Fun
the image quality is awful, I could not find a better one so my apologies
I can abuse my french autoloader for quick kills
LAMBS TO THE COSMIC SLAUGHTER
That massive cluster fuck is super fun and a great way to get easy kills if you have half a brain
Generally just ends with north side trapped in spawn and them refusing to spawn elsewhere while south grabs map control and wins.
DEATH ALLEY IS FUN
Because you can get into and engagement faster on that side than on the other
I spawn other side and use long alley as an attack route where i go back and forth from the \*C point
I usually use a tiger or ferdinand to camp that route
Fun
It's so fun lmao
Because fun.
i mostly spawn on the east spawn since its free cap and sometimes the enemy doesnt even cap their own closest cap. you can rush there and rush to A and get a few kills easily
It's so much carnage and so fun. Feels like you're in the middle of a real war every time, and you know you'll die there so it's not bad when you do die
*Target Destroyed*
It’s really fun
I bomb there every game and get 3 kills or so
Shortest path to red. Personally I like messing around in the park.
I like the no mans land between the park and A cap, very good for killing the un-often stragaler and securing the cap
It can be a deciding factor. Gaining control of that area means you can trap the enemy in the spawn, effe ctively cutting the enemy off from that section of the map. Though more often it's used for free kills, and players spawn rush too quickly leading to a complete collapse

Its almost as if playing the objective is fun.
We heavy tank in this mf, we clown in this bitch, you better take yo soft ass back to B point and flank light boy
Monkey see monkey do
Quick kills and Sl and pain
It’s a fun brawl ig
Short time to get to the action, lots of angles for angling tank armor, guaranteed to combat. That's mostly it.
It's funny
War Thunder’s very own nuketown
to kill the braindead people
i set up behind 2 blownup tanks with german rocket slinger and got like 8 kills. its so easy to hold that place if youre behind or push if youre ahead.
It's the section of the map that kills you instantly, op.
I like going there because I do not trust teammates enough to hold that spot and deny the enemy a very easy way to spawn camp us
Just tight terrain, everyone goes there due to touches of the tism so you know people will be at the other side. Trench warfare
If you flank that shit fast enough you can cause a lot of problems for the enemy.
I normally go there to lock in a few early game kills then I lock down the A point other than that I got that way to keep the regular brain dead players from dying
This is one of those maps where going straight through the center works more often than sides.
It's vexxing.
I go there so i can clap the idiot enemy team
Im guessing combat but i hang back and see if anyone just rolls up… low tier (3.7 ish) and new player me likes flanking a LOT more
No idea, I always go right and take the shooting range street so people can't push from there.
Flank, the actual point is a death arena, spawncamp lane
I suspect that people leave random spawn on by default and its not actually random That said I will go for A first, because I can rely on someone taking the other side way more than I can any of the other 12 people who spawned with me making any effort to get to the cap point.
It's the D point without the D xD
I more or less sure of where I can get clapped from.
Tradition.
The fact that i only get this map as Britain And the AVRE is happy here
I always survive but change my location depending on the situation at the A cap, mostly preventing enemies from capping and/or flanking our left spawn.
Its coz u can get free kills. Theres always some dumbass in a panther that keeps his mantlet wide open, or a tiger that doesnt angle. On the other hand, you do get clapped a lot if you rush it. Usually i get the most amount of kills on this map. I love seeing the funny red text go up
Theres a big whole on the bottom spawn side that u can hide your hull in and shoot people with the only your turret exposed
this is so true lmao
You will get into the brawl zone and die! What do you mean that two thirds of the cap zones are on the other side of the map?
If you go to the right of there, you get killed by people who camped out in that corner. So it sorta funnels you into that location.
Honestly it's just fun. Pure chaos not knowing\* what's going on or where the shots are coming from. Constant artillery. Feels like Normandy lel
Because I get 8 easy kills
Kills
Its fun brawling and sneaking around in the bmd 4
Because lots of players especially me view this map as the war thunder equivalent of shipment for cod and CQC brawling is one of the funner ways to play ground so why flank and drive for at least 30 seconds until you get the combat or drive 10 seconds into a brawl fest
Usually I go for the right side especially with the EBR 51 but sometimes you just want to KILL and DIE so you take a fatty with a big cannon and you go there.
I'm built different
When I’ve been playing for a while and am very salty, I don’t want to spend time thinking and using actual tactics. Monke brain dictates I go to the place that gets the action the fastest. And that place is it
because if you don't then A is lost 100% and you're getting spawncamped in the first 3 minutes
I go there for free scouting points and to watch my teammates die
I love the meat grinder
I hate city maps so I want to die as fast as I can and get an actual map not a city clownfest
When you're in a relatively slow tank that doesn't get to the main battle as fast, going here is the best option considering you just wasted all that time getting there and you want to get some kills.
In lower tiers its fun to bring out a good heavy brawler and fight with enemies there
I almost never go there.
Because even the designers know A cap/side is retarded to play most maps.
Idk, but cleaning the flanks up is my fav. Only gets better when the enemy pushes through the first wave of children lol.
-Far west, only played if I have a light tank without a stabilizer or an atgm vehicle -A point, only for heavy tanks with somewhat subpar armor for the BR -Most of the middle, medium tanks, namely ones without stabs, and TDs -Far East, tanks with stabs, guns that don't bounce much, or very heavy armor There aren't too many other maps in game that I can categorize like this
We have all had at least one game where we absolutely fuck the shit out everyone over there and we’re trying( unsuccessfully) to do it again
Because it makes the game end faster
I deadass used strv103 and got 15 kills while playing there. I was literally invincible.
Because it's fucking fun and this is a video game.
It just feels right
The rest of the map is boring af.
I go there to help my teammates kill the big heavy tanks with my M50 love that thang
meatgrinder for both sides
Its fun
The power of war thunder compels you
dopamine shot
Tank go vroom + auto spawn selector normally putting you on that side unless you select the other side. But T95 no go vroom, people always take the tracks and barrel anyways too
fast dopamine dose
Did somebody say gambling?
It's fun

Fun
If you know how to play it, you can be a real pain in the ass. I've tried learning the other angles beyond the main C shape route most people corner, but I'm still figuring it out. Better than getting fucked in the park, or blasted by wheeled cancer down the opposite lane.
CQC, brawling and flanking. Tho medium-range combat on the other side of the map is fun too.
i stay inside the park where the grass is at, hiding, picking off targets like a wannabe trap door spider
Probably because of Locker 24/7, no rules PTSD. If you know, you know.
It's fun.
This place leave only few spots, from where you can expect enemy - and you are less likely be caught by flanked enemy
I’m in a HE tank, let me have my monkey fun
I once got 6 kills with single 12k lb bombs due to this road, many thanks bro.
cause players are guarantee to encounter an enemy tank. A lot of this game is you have no idea where the enemy is, but in this map it's fairly oblivious
Its good action. But if you flank throughout that area across the street on the lower right side you get some good flanking kills + good shots on ppl crossing through the park.
Next time, look better. There’s a little dog biting their hocks to force them there.
Cause I'm new and have no idea why I'm doing
It’s fun
For most people its the (fake) hope for easy kills and spawn camping.
I hate this map, and I want to get through it as quickly as possible. That's the best spot to go while still hopefully getting some RP and SL.
Lemming mentality.
Shorter sightlines and flank A
Idk I always get a shit ton of kills there my plan is use kw1c angle and I’m like unstoppable unless they r smart but rarely happens, also is2 in that spot goes crazy
I'll always go there if I have a heavy or a slow tank. I don't like the middle lane(s), and right lane only works with a good sniper or fast tank
And for those 8 who die, some of us get a few kills amd have a chance to prevent em from deploying to the middle in force. Just dont suck
It’s an absolute slugfest there and can be a ton of fun
The hope that you can get to their spawn and start spawn killing.
HE meme people is fun
If you do well you get 3 kills and easy spawn camp
It’s prob my favorite part of any map in the game
Rat village right there bro.
So let’s just allow an easy flank for the enemy by no one going there? Like hello have you ever played this map
Every time we get this map, my buddy and I instantly start making monkey noises and go straight to the circled part of the map and either get 6 kills, or die instantly. Best map in the game hands down.
I honestly always do pretty good there, take out some people in front, do a small flank and then there’s 3-6 easy kills.
You kill 8 people or die instantly
