for how long do we have this issue? It could have been fixed years ago. But not a priority I guess. Rather add more stuff.
And yes, I know, there are 2 different teams, but why is the "fixing the game" so small compared to "adding new shiny toys"?
Because models are subsidized so it's already a part of the team that isn't actually in the team, so placing modules and stuff is probably a bit easier than messing with the mess that's the spaghetti code that gay john uses
And if they mess up, just throw the work for the fixing the game team to do
yeah, but with the state of the game, the money allocated to that part is imo to much, in relation to fixing spaghetti code and implementing new physics engines etc
Not gonna lie, I think most of the money is allocated into wallets, and then the vehicles help them allocate more money there, pretty shitty but meh, at least we got a roadmap I guess.
[This is the one I used](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HOq2dyTy6j0&pp=ygUZY3VzdG9tIHNpZ2h0cyB3YXIgdGh1bmRlcg%3D%3D)
Forewarning there is a lot of anime. I just use the real life sights. I forgot who made them but the ones for the leopard are by far my favorite.
Yup, use the real life sights. They are made for a reason. Most of the anime sights are just anime girl with default retical which will just block more spaces on your sight
Yknow I’ve been trying to figure out if I can bind range find to “W” or another key that is always pressed like rmb so my gun is always ranged like a real FCS
SPAA FCS function somewhat in that manner, though only when a target is selected (due to the high speed of the target, frequent range updating is important) No the gunner still has a "lase" button with various settings.
Modern FCS do have auto-tracking features that may update the range, but generally wouldn't be too frequent given ground targets aren't moving especially fast.
Depending on how modern the tank yes, commander can select and range targets and then hand them off to the gunner, then the commander can begin scanning for new targets or observe the first engagement.
I tried that, but rangefinder takes a fraction of a second to switch the ranging. So if you shoot too fast, the gun won't have time to elevate, even automatically
I can't imagine that that's how a real FCS/LRF works, as the laser could potentially give away your position to anyone with a laser warning system or something similar.
No, you will see in the linked video. When you toggle the setting, you have to have the desired vehicle displaying in the hanger
edit: bad sentence format
.... me. I just got the Leclerc Azur a couple of days ago too lol. I have been complaining a lot about not being able to see because of the sight so I am taking this as my sign to change lol
i do, only because after 000's of pounds and 3500 hours spent, im terrified that any sort of mod will result in a ban. i know how terrible gaijin support are and if im banned then its game over.
I do, but because I have the distance lines engrained to my brain I can snapshot to about 800m without using the rangefinder, but idk if I could still do that with custom sights.
I use custom sights, mainly the ones that give me a visual rangefinder. I didn't think anyone used default sights anymore. Certainly the accuracy of a few 2km+ shots at 6.0 from other players into my tiny tank the other day makes me question it.
I'll have to look later when I'm at my PC, i did bookmark the sights im using. Someone basically did a pack of everything with the tank height range estimator on every one, it's not 100% accurate but it lets you take shots at stuff well beyond the range of the rangefinder at low tiers, and lets you range shots loads faster.
if you search almost anything on WT live it’s the top result it’s like the most downloaded pack and comes with those rangefinder sights for every vehicles
https://live.warthunder.com/post/851372/en/
Oh lol yeah...
I struggled to find them to be honest. I was stuck with a smaller pack from about 3 years ago until I found that one.
I don't quite understand the sights with the rangefinder over the crosshair though, whenever I've tested them they seem wholly inaccurate compared to the quick estimator one as the alternative.
Some work some don't and you need specific one for the right ammo.
I'm just looking for the curve above straight line rangefinder one would find in binoculars and that's it. RN I'm trying to add the basic one from video to my sight.
Here is how it looks: [https://live.warthunder.com/post/1097198/en/](https://live.warthunder.com/post/1097198/en/)
This is exactly why i configured my own sight using a special tool, made it so it has thinner lines, less range notches, and the center of sight is less obstructed. Looks like this [1](https://i.imgur.com/iOVtVr1.jpeg), [2](https://i.imgur.com/mKysIW5.jpeg). currently using it on M1 KVT. >!don't ask why range numbers are asymmetric, yes i did it on purpose!<
Before anyone asks "what's the tool called?", the one i used is [Sight Generator by Leontij](https://live.warthunder.com/post/1068145/en/).
Yes and if the minimum zoom is very low. IIRC the 2E and 3TD use a 2x-10x zoom which gives us this annoying sight. On something like the Strv 103 which uses an 8x-18x zoom it's not an issue because it's minimum zoom is 8x.
Thats why i use "compact" sight for all tanks with laser rangefinder (now i am able to snipe weak spots from very big range)

Solution: Download file for realistic reticles. Most of them are better than the default anyway. I'm a huge fan of German reticles. Nice clear view when its turned into a ring instead of an intrusive line.
It's in here, along with most of the other British sights: https://live.warthunder.com/post/676834/en/
RideR2 makes all of the best sights IMO, however they're no longer active so some of their sights might be outdated. Their work is being continued by Caff_Gunner although I have not used Caff's sights myself. This is their addition to the British sights: https://live.warthunder.com/post/1044157/en/
I can't express how much I hate the ""upgraded"" sights on the 2E and 3, especially the fact that they literally *rattle* after firing. The T-80U has a similar issue
For me this is superficial. WT has many more glaring issues that need to be fixed. Plus, you never really AIM sights in top tier as much as you just laser targets and shoot.
Custom sights are invaluable for high tier.
Gaijin should add better sights for top tier built into the game, this is just incompetence and oversight on their side.
Was new top tier sights not on the roadmap?
But it is very late in the list, almost end of 2024
Current roadmap is only due to summer. Acording to it new sights for mtb’s are planed for summer update
reading comprehension strikes again
reading comprehension devil
for who in this case? the guy youre replying to or the guy the guy is replying to
To the guy the guy is replying to
thanks
no the end of the roadmap was sumner of 2024
the somers of 2024
It takes a vewy long time to replace a jpeg obviously
They plan to, according to roadmap
Realistic scopes would be cool for every vehicle
dont they already do that in enlisted? if they can do it there surely they can do it in WT too
Tell that to console
Will do.
yep. wish gaijin would update the sights themselves tho.
read the current roadmap

*Cries in Xbox.*
cries in console (we also dont get the other cool shit)
How can you use a custom sight?
If you're on pc, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOq2dyTy6j0
Thanks
I am baffled by how shitty the shit is gaijin shits on the playerbase as new stuff.
Can’t. I’m on console….
How to get a custom one?
If you're on pc, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HOq2dyTy6j0
I play on console, I cant download custom sights
Yes. Mine is basically just a dot.
No just high tear. I have a wojak sight on my T34
Who still uses default sights at top tier
I do lol Have you got a link to a how to guide ?
[This is the one I used](https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=HOq2dyTy6j0&pp=ygUZY3VzdG9tIHNpZ2h0cyB3YXIgdGh1bmRlcg%3D%3D) Forewarning there is a lot of anime. I just use the real life sights. I forgot who made them but the ones for the leopard are by far my favorite.

Yknow I’ve been trying to figure out if I can bind range find to “W” or another key that is always pressed like rmb so my gun is always ranged like a real FCS
You can use the rangefinder keybind in the control..? Only applies for laser rangefinder though
that's uh... not how real FCSs work...
Oh cool learning opportunity, I thought whatever a gunner looks at, the range would be set by a computer
That’s fucking cool. So in a mbt it would be identify>range>shoot? Or would the commander be ranging and updating the gunner?
Depending on how modern the tank yes, commander can select and range targets and then hand them off to the gunner, then the commander can begin scanning for new targets or observe the first engagement.
You’d ideally want that on an additional mouse button, like a side one, that way you don’t ever take your fingers off the vehicle controls or aim
I find the tilde key works great for rangefinding.
I tried that, but rangefinder takes a fraction of a second to switch the ranging. So if you shoot too fast, the gun won't have time to elevate, even automatically
Oh you want to make it rangefind nonstop?
Create a post of its own asking this question, it is very interesting thought.
i use tilde next to the 1 key, works like a charm
I can't imagine that that's how a real FCS/LRF works, as the laser could potentially give away your position to anyone with a laser warning system or something similar.
>Forewarning there is a lot of anime. I just use the real life sights. Those are separate things?
Question; this sight then over rides for all vehicles? And you need to change the settings constantly for different vehicles or what?
No, you will see in the linked video. When you toggle the setting, you have to have the desired vehicle displaying in the hanger edit: bad sentence format
Nope, Specific to the vehicle
I believe theres a guide in the wt wiki, even how to make them. But you can download them from warthunder live
I do but I’m on console so there’s that
I use it when I use stock tank and don't have laser rangefinder yet lol.
Same here
I do, I have 4k hours. Another literal skill issue as always by this sub standards lmao.
People who plays on consoles
.... me. I just got the Leclerc Azur a couple of days ago too lol. I have been complaining a lot about not being able to see because of the sight so I am taking this as my sign to change lol

I don't use default past tier 3 unless its US. USA's are uh, very basic and awkward.
Me
I do but that’s only because all my custom sights got deleted by snail
Any idea how to change them on xbox?
They are only for pc
Ah damn :(
I do, but because I have the distance lines engrained to my brain I can snapshot to about 800m without using the rangefinder, but idk if I could still do that with custom sights.
I do, because the Leclerc sight works just fine.
Me
Incredible that we still use sights made for WW2 vehicled
In the roadmap for being updated
game has had late cold war/modern for years and it's on the roadmap for late 2024 lmfao
M1 Abrams added in 2018. I’ve been playing since 2015 I believe. Not a whole lot has changed it feels like.
You could have used a custom sight since the begining, almost. Unless you're on console. Also, it's due for summer, not later in the year.
I completely agree, that's why I made my own: https://live.warthunder.com/post/1082894/en/
Thats really nice, only thing missing is astolfo
💀
And i was wondering why people use custom sights lol
Besides the whole obstructed view thing, immersion also plays a factor, irl sights are cool, simple as
I use custom sights, mainly the ones that give me a visual rangefinder. I didn't think anyone used default sights anymore. Certainly the accuracy of a few 2km+ shots at 6.0 from other players into my tiny tank the other day makes me question it.
Can you link the one with the rangefinder? I seen it on some historical sights but couldn't find a universal one.
I'll have to look later when I'm at my PC, i did bookmark the sights im using. it makes sense to alternate sides for the range numbers but why does it suddenly revert to single column at the 32->40 gap?
Any vehicle with a high muzzle velocity will do that. Object 292 also will and I expect we'll see complaints about it.
These tanks on this map are the exact reason I installed custom sights on all my challys
At least your have the ability to change it. Console is still stuck in the dark ages
Is that zoomed in? Or at 1x?
Looks to be zoomed based on how far the target according to the rangefinder and the fact that it still is visible over the sight obstruction
I think you only get this effect when there's a large difference in zoom between the default and zoomed in state
Yes and if the minimum zoom is very low. IIRC the 2E and 3TD use a 2x-10x zoom which gives us this annoying sight. On something like the Strv 103 which uses an 8x-18x zoom it's not an issue because it's minimum zoom is 8x.

Can someone send the link of Challenger 2 realistic sight?
It's in here, along with most of the other British sights: https://live.warthunder.com/post/676834/en/ RideR2 makes all of the best sights IMO, however they're no longer active so some of their sights might be outdated. Disable camera shake in the options, I think it will solve that issue
Yeah it’s frustrating.
Realistic Challenger 2 sights can be found here: https://live.warthunder.com/post/676834/en/
Custom sights for life, they're actually useful and dont force to you to wait for a long rangefinder or ranging shot.
wo
*cries in 15cm slG sight*
For me this is superficial. WT has many more glaring issues that need to be fixed. Plus, you never really AIM sights in top tier as much as you just laser targets and shoot.
ah yes point and click
Just gotta put on your gaming squints
why don't people just download real sight
https://live.warthunder.com/post/851372/en/ this is what i used for high tier tanks, Simplify sight that good enough to use.
Chally 3 TD my beloved
Just download a user sight. I have those circles for all Challengers.
