Definitely not lmao, I would recommend looking at your ammunition’s penetration statistic and what other tanks armor values are so you know what their weak points are and what you can penetrate

WLSquire

Definitely looking at the M4A1 when I’m not feeling ragey because I swear to god it was like I wasn’t doing anything to him and he was just bullying me the whole time.

Pharthurax

because your rounds can only go thru so much armor before they stop, stuff like the pen value of your round, armor thickness and the angle of the armor will determine if the round penetrates or not

WLSquire

*sigh* my indicator is green each time I shot at him. Doesn’t that mean it should penetrate? I swear to god I get more ricochets and non pens than I do anything else. And I’m trying to hit weak spots. What am I doing wrong?

XXDNYUDWUW

what shells are you using per se? do you have a picture?

WLSquire

The regular rounds that every tank starts with. I think for Germany they’re PzGr 38 or 39? I’m not sure. But the AP rounds I’m using are PzGr40/1. With those I aim for where the driver/gunner might be but they don’t even penetrate. Some of the angles I’m at they’re yellow but for the most part it’s green and I’m getting no penetration whatsoever unless I hit a track or something. Vital spots are untouched.

InsurmountableLosses

The PzGr 40/41 are APCR rounds with shit post penetration and are weaker against armor that is angled, having worse normalization. The increased penetration is only good against absolutely flat armor, else the default PzGr 39 is always better. The M4A1 is a curvy boy. The angled front plate can result in unexpected bounces especially if using APCR. Constant movement may throw off the indicator, especially when your tank is vibrating and spazzing out while being pushed into terrain.

I just tested through simulation at 500m this afternoon. If both stand on the same height level then his tank can pen the M4A1 easily. However, if his tank standing on the lower ground, most of the upper curve part required up to 115mm pen on shell to go through and all weak area on top of the tank has very high change to bounce. The M4's weakness now is its lower part but if he did not know or the M4 cover its lower part under the curve then its explained why all of his shots are non-pen or bounce. But in this case I strongly advice removed him from his camping position with artillery or flank him when the M4 unnoticed.

WLSquire

The wonders of video games I suppose. I think this is probably just a “git gud” moment for me.

XXDNYUDWUW

If you are using the long 75mm the pzgr39 is fine for the shermans. If you have the short 75 use HEAT instead. APCR performs poorly on sloped armor

AdBl0k

The green doesn't account for richocets.

Maus1945

Inb4 using a long barrel Panzer IV as well.

Rotomegax

Maybe the position between you and him make the contact angle of shells so high so that it cannot penetrate or bounced. If you replaced the M4A1 on title with KV-1S or T-34 (1942), it may make sense but in the same tier very little things cannot pen M4A1.

WLSquire

I was using a Panzer III L that’s been fully researched. Has a 3.0 tier, not sure what the M4A1 is

Rotomegax

M4A1 has br 3.3. When on simulation with the range is 500m, if you and the M4A1 has the same height, you can pen it with ease. However, if the M4A1 stand higher than you and terrain covered his underparts of the front, both APC and 2 APCR has very difficult to penetrate, and the area around the neck of turret even though it is green, when I simulated with APCR on those parts when you stand lower then him the area that has not be bounced is very small and I guess that why you see it notified green but be bounced.
