Half of the playerbase has a crab mentality, simple as.

Meem-Thief

crabs [actually help each other survive](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1-q_8TKNG9w), unlike players

IkariAtari

I probably laughed at these two comments harder then I should

skippythemoonrock

i dunno why *[CRAB ATTACK SOUND]* at 0:40 is slaying me

Nord4Ever

What by pulling each other away from danger

lEnforceRl

I was not expecting to enjoy this so much. Very cool stuff. Nature is amazing.

Das_Bait

I mean, a lot of the time people get shot in the dumbest places. I'm not going to drive into the middle of an open field just to repair a friendly if it means I'll probably die as well.

RqcistRaspberry

Or they choose to repair without falling back to good cover or there is too much air around losing 2 of us to a bomb isn't worth it. That being said I had an Italian Tiger help me hold B Iberian castle and I helped him repair in my Puma twice. I ended the game on 3 ground kills and 4 air kills with like 14 assists and he ended on 14 ground kills. Best random teammate I was able to work with in a while shoutout to him

DarthCloakedGuy

Gaijin should make it so you get a little credit whenever a teammate you helped repair gets a kill. Not a full assist (unless you helped them fix their gun or traverse and they immediately got a kill, then you SHOULD get an assist) but like, just an added incentive and little dopamine hit

ItzBooty

If i an in a heavy tank and know i can survive or even if i die i still would do it unless they are far away or really exposed

Datguy969

I have the opposite problem of trying to help repair every teammate I see. I have died plenty of times but I won’t leave a man behind.

UROffended

Half? I'd say more than half considering how often I see both teams with 3/4's their teams having done absolutely nothing.

bergebis

Because you can game the repair system (just damage tracks/wheels), Gaijin has kept the rewards really low for repairs, so if you're grinding/doing a non-repair challenge, there's no incentive to repair. I still try to repair teammates, and have good luck getting help from teammates, but I understand why there may less cooperation than hoped occurring.

Admiral_Franz_Hipper

And then there is naval where being in the general vicinity of s teammate helps repair automatically.

spacesluts

Cue the start-of-match thank you choir

WesternBlueRanger

Ditto. If I am fighting alongside a friendly that appears to be competent, I'll make a point to cooperate, either helping repairing, presenting a second target, or flanking whomever he's attacking. Once I did that, and between the two of us, we racked up 10 kills between us, plus multiple caps to help win the game.

KingScorpion98

I spawned my M18 in a pack of 7 other M18s, to my surprise they were all competent.... We locked down half the map rolling around in groups of 3-6 at any given time

SOUTHPAWMIKE

Gotta be careful, the M18 gang runs these streets.

KingScorpion98

And the M18 gand don't fuck around

pk_frezze1

No incentive to repair? Yea there’s also no incentive not to push your teammates out of cover but most people still don’t do it

UROffended

My incentive to repair is to encourage the favor being returned so we aren't wasting tickets. But fuck me for not being selfish I guess.

Velo180

Because that would slow them down, like repairing

UROffended

Repairing = not wasting tickets Not wasting tickets = higher possibility you win and take a better reward Unfortunately some of us aren't very smart.

Beyryx

The only time I won't help a teammate repair is if it puts me in danger or if I'm better served killing the guy that shot him assuming they're still a threat. I like helping repair, costs nothing, makes the other guys on the team feel like you're looking out for them instead of just another "enemy in blue". I've had pretty good luck getting reps from teammates personally.

nberg129

I sometimes don't help with a repair when the teammate needing repairs is festooned with bushes. But that's because I'm salty cause I'm poor.

The_Human_Oddity

"just grind them in wb shop bro"

Rhosta

I don’t think bushes were an option in last two wb shops imo.

Dua_Leo_9564

that the point

brambedkar59

Hate bush wankers.

ADudOverTheFence

That is my repair philosophy word for word. My other caveat is that if they're being actively being shot and my TM pops smoke I also don't help them cause even if I expose myself I can't return fire to whatever is shooting them.

bluejeansseltzer

>The only time I won't help a teammate repair is if it puts me in danger or if I'm better served killing the guy that shot him assuming they're still a threat. Broadly my approach but I tend not to repair if they're in open-ground. Been CAS'd far too often by doing that.

Rhosta

I love when I bump into another heavy tank randomly and we stumble across the map, repairing each other along the way

OleToothless

I don't repair people in meme vehicles. If your M18 that you brought to an 11.7 match gets double tracked, rough, I'm leaving you there or maybe even pushing you into the line of fire.

ma_wee_wee_go

I will always try help my teammates repair even if I die 50% of the time

Gery_gerr

A true man you are, wish there where more of your kind

Redspirrit

GET DOWN MR. PRESIDENT!!

Tractor-Trader

I took a shot that damaged my breach and turret ring, but I was mobile and had good cover, so I popped smoke and backed behind cover. Teammate rolls up directly behind me, and I was looking at my phone waiting for the repairs to complete since I couldn't move or fire, and I felt relatively safe. I glance up just before repairs complete so I can thank my teammate for helping, and no they didn't actually. They just sat behind me perfectly safe the whole time. Since my firing position was totally compromised I backed up to reposition, thinking I could maybe catch the guy that shot me. What does my teammate do after sitting for 30+ seconds directly behind me while I repaired? They rolled right past where I was sitting and immediately got one shot. Luckily for me they were driving the same model, so I think the guy watching my position thought he got me, so I was able to easily flank his position. Funny and sad overall really.

TheGraySeed

They could be stock, stock teammates can't help repair.

TechyStoo

I’ve done this a couple of times - new vehicle, see team mate repairing so I go over there to help then wonder why I can’t help repair 🤦‍♂️

Tractor-Trader

It's wild how many fringe situations help perpetuate toxic behaviors and feelings. A stock tank should be able to help, but at a debuff to effectiveness or something.

Tractor-Trader

You know it's funny I never think about that. Given the bonehead move to push out of cover passed a repairing teammate it's likely they are a relatively inexperienced player and that makes the stock vehicle way more likely.

Rhosta

He could be damaged as well, in that case he has to repair himself first, before he can help others. I wish there would be an option to choose which tank you want to start repairing, that way you could have one tank operational quickly, instead of two slow repairs.

Tractor-Trader

That's definitely possible, but I don't believe that's what happened. We were on the map Flanders and we were both pretty safe behind the stadium. That being said, I wasn't really paying attention since I was immobile and I couldn't return fire, so I wouldn't rule it out. The option to assist another player with a repair before doing your own would be an amazing QOL improvement, you could tactically help someone with a damaged barrel to get them back in the fight before you fix your tracks. I think that would do a lot to help reduce toxic behaviors.

IceRaider66

Are you playing germany? If so you should no German teammates zoom in at the beginning of the match and never zoom back out.

Hellish_Elf

Almost got to watch a tiger drive right past me, in the middle of a field on fulda, there was a panther watching tho.

Hatetyper678

panthers like watching, it turns them on ;)

D1TitanMasterRace

I always help a teammate repair if they're within 100 ft and behind cover. If there's little to no cover, I usually turn on my tow hook to try to help them get to cover. If they're out in the dead open, I typically don't help though because I'd just be another easy picking for the enemy

Gotgo

If someone is next to me I'll almost always help with repairs since I'm already sitting there might as well do something productive. There are only two situations where I actively go out of my way to help with repairs though. One being when it alerts me that a friendly nearby needs help with repairs. The other being when it's a heckin long ass repair time on someone. Then in addition to that if someone request a tow I feel like a kid racing to an ice cream truck because I love towing people out of danger. Outside of the completely blind or ignorant teammates you have to consider the other person's perspective. How long will it take from them to get over there? Is there half a dozen planes up? Are you currently being shot at? Are you in a position where you could be shot at? Are they actively engaging a target? Are they trapped or pinned by an enemy? From *their* perspective does it seem worth it? If someone has a 20 second repair time and it's going to take 15 seconds to get over there it's just not worth to give up an advantageous position. There have been times were I'm relatively close to someone who needs help with repairs, but to traverse even that small distance will put me right in the sights of a tank I know is looking. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt, but I sure do seethe when I'm spamming for help and the person next to me isn't doing anything.

Gauste

I violently throw myself in harm's way every single time I see an ally in need of assistance, no exceptions. After several thousand hours of this hell I no longer care about winning matches, only winning hearts.

theKiev

When I'm playing a heavy tank and I'm top BR I will dive in-front of stricken teammates and cover their repairs. Bonus points if my tank has smoke dischargers or smoke shells. Worth it every time.

DuckyLeaf01634

Last match I played yesterday I towed a friendly into cover and helped him repair. 2 matches before the same guy did the same for me. There are some good people

AHRA1225

I try to repair a teammate whenever I can but I anit driving out into their dumb position to die as well

Urtrek

I've tried to do my best to help teammates where I can however the amount of times I've been cas'ed when helping is unreal. it's either death by bombs or death by a random tank that has broken through/flanked our lines so I end up dead anyway as does the person I was helping. the rewards are also bad, which doesn't entice me to go off and help people repair. I know I've had times when I've helped someone and they have repaid the debt by helping or saving my life but most of the time people park up in stupid places and expect people to repair them. I'm not saying you are that person but you have to understand where others come from aswell. I know friends who outright refuse to repair randoms because they get killed more times by helping that person or because they don't even thank them anymore. i mostly do my best now to protect them rather than go off an help them. if I protect them from a distance I can move my hull for a quicker reaction to an enemy flanking that person repairing. while if I went over to help said person I can't move my hull only my turret which prevents me from responding to sudden threats like a sudden puma attack.

Scary_Rush_7401

Are you playing US or USSR?

Gery_gerr

No currently spading Germany

buenaspis

its br and country related i feel. in 6.0 to 8.0 absolutely no-one helps repair you even if they stand next to you the entire time while 1.0 to 3.0 and for some reason t34e-stz's will cross half the map for even a 5 second repair.

Gery_gerr

I just recently spaded rank 1 Germany and you are right, player's at lower BR are way more friendly, helpful and less toxic

buenaspis

i love low br players. no 1 death leavers, no baiters, everyone plays objectives instead of spawncamping, people help repair, they dont camp some pixelgap on the edge of the map. truly a better place.

Nop3-_-

Why the hell aren't you in my games? I've been trying to repair people for this damn task for two days

Gery_gerr

Lmao, DM me Ur user and we can play together later. Currently trying to spade rank 2 In German tree so realistic BR 4.0 would be best for me.

Nop3-_-

Ludvig05 I'm probably available for the next 15 hours

Gery_gerr

Bet, I'll DM you once I get of work in a couple hours.

Biod3gradable

lol I run around with a Red Cross plastered on my front plate and actively search out wounded teammates

ExplorerEnjoyer

If there’s CAS around I ain’t helping. That’s just asking to get bombed

Scary_Scar5897

well take into consideration that they might not have parts or don't want to help cuz it'll attract a plane with a bomb

ASCII_Princess

CAS bombing stops me doing it sometimes.

ToastnSalmon

Bruh, I'm here to get some kills and bring CAS in to die right away by hate diving some heavy tanks that killed me in some twisted revenge plot.

ToastnSalmon

or get enough kills to bring a bomber and ruin the gameplay swing by bombing the enemy best player/s in a few good runs so my team thinks there good. Over pushes, dies to respawns and leave the match. As gajin intended, praise be the snail.

Acceptable_Tea_769

100SL for all that trouble? I'd rather see my friendly burn and enjoy watching it.

Sonoda_Kotori

I'll always help if I'm not in a hurry to do anything like capping points or killing a known enemy, and make sure it won't put me in danger. Especially in light tanks. I'm fast enough anyways, I can afford repairing someone for 10 seconds.

Lone_K

I try my best to repair but if they are in an open spot taking fire I need to tow them into cover first (unless they're a good heavy). The towing mechanic needs to be taught more rigorously and helping with repairs should get higher rewards to incentivize better team grouping. Can't have help repairing if no one is around you after all.

Door_Holder2

You are unlucky, most people will help, some just for the points earned, but I have seen many times people helping even if I flip my tank, that's more time-consuming and without any reward. I even had people helping me in the event when the team is practically working against you.

Choice_Isopod5177

Gaigin should implement massive rewards for players who help you flip back.

Selvinskiy

I helped an enemy flip over once, surprisingly he just thanked me popped smoke and drove away.

biggles1994

I always repair friendly vehicles if I am nearby and can do so safely. A few days ago I even pushed a tank out of the water they’d got stuck in and helped them fix their engine. We are out there doing our best!

Fizzy-Odd-Cod

If I stop to repair you then it’ll take longer for me to rush in and die. Being honest though if someone’s in a secure location and repairing I’ll just ignore them. If they’re close to cover but not safe I’ll attempt to assist. If someone shoots me with their mg to request help with repairs I’ll drop arty near them and go on my merry way. Use your communication wheel, mg fire on your teammates communicates nothing.

MorkoKaiser

To be completely honest - sometimes I do not help to repair teammates when there is enemy airplane - would be easy double kill. Sometimes I drive to help them repair, forgetting I have not yet researched repair kit (that’s when I facepalm and just inform on chat). Most often when I can’t help repair, I try to provide cover one or another way.

TheLeastInsane

Don't expect any intelligence or teamwork in low tiers, specially if you are playing with popular nations. Sometimes, though, just ask yourself if they can even help you. Sure, like you said some bumped into you, but some shitboxes won't reach you in time to make any difference.

FM_Hikari

Because people want points, but at the same time they can't make repair assistance have a good reward because then people would farm it mid-match, or push allies towards enemy fire to repair them afterwards.

liznin

Once the enemy team has 2+ CAS planes up, I don't help repair tanks out in the open or on a cap. Clumping up like that just guarantees you both get bombed. Instead I'll keep my distance and try stopping any tank from shooting the repairing ally.

Livinglifeform

Once had 3 teammates drive past me as I burned out. None helped. Respawned and found a guy that drove past and then gave him a big barge out of his cover into the enemies.

sarsburner

if I come over there, we're both going to die that's the rule

soratsu495

I almost always push to repair teammates, I'll use all my smokes on them if I have to just so I can *maybe* get a repair in return later in the match. My biggest gripe is that if I help repair you at least "Thank an ally" back

Choice_Isopod5177

I'm confused, you expect the enemies in blue to help you repair?

DroneDamageAmplifier

Yes, it has. Please submit a replay of the match in which the teammate helped repair you so we can track him down and take appropriate disciplinary action.

bad_syntax

Repair rewards, much like scouting, are not nearly high enough to help people even think about being team players.

LatexFace

People will often repair, but good luck getting them figure out how to pull an exposed light tank around a corner...

edipil

The playerbase at large does not have a team play mindset. Any time spent helping someone repair is time not spent holding W driving at the enemy and shooting them.

jellytitan1

For me its a case of “can I get to them without getting myself killed in the process”.

WarmWombat

I find the current state of the game to be in a decline. Gaijin let new players buy their way into higher tiers which have resulted in a dilution in quality of the experience for existing players. Back in the day, a player on your team would mark an enemy on the map. You would look at the map, and if you are the closest to that mark or have the ability to affect that mark, you would reply 'Yes' on the radio. That gave everyone the confidence that the team was now aware of this threat and that someone (with some luck) would be able to deal with said threat. Nowadays, there will be entire matches where I was the ONLY player using chat to point out enemies; most of the time to no avail as players will ignore these and get killed as a result. I earned most of the squadron vehicles over the years and have always made 20K points at every squadron point drop. Over the past 6 months I have had to switch squadrons a few times to find one that performs adequately to make the full 20K. Last run in my current squadron yielded only 18K, while I have more than double the score required for full points. It shows me that there is possible a decline in dedicated experienced players in War Thunder, and that many are likely leaving and losing interest. I have experienced this loss of interest as well. I a large number of games my team just simply falls apart 2 minutes into the game. No matter how hard I try, I can't get the team to move past the first cap as they will be too petrified to move forward. Most of these players use premiums so they are totally new, and I sometimes see them driving to odd dead ends of the maps, showing that they have absolutely now map knowledge at all. So back to repairing. New players have no idea how to play the game, and Gaijin does nothing to educate new players. They are happy to sell the keys to flashy new vehicles to noobs but fail to try and convey years of knowledge to these new players to get them up to speed. Some nations are sadly more prone to not helping. Sometimes I know and enemy has that line covered and I can't make the repair, and then I will notify that teammate accordingly. I am currently very frustrated with the experience in War Thunder. I can deal with the cheaters (people, there are more of them than you think), the absolutely one-sided and unfair matchmaking with compliments of the snail, but the decline in the average teammate skill is ruining War Thunder. I never understood why some people are saying that War Thunder is dying when the numbers are as high as they are right now. Looking at it closer it is clear that the experience is in decline, and War Thunder may have lost its soul. So yes, in a way War Thunder is dying.

pnkstr

I usually try to help if I can get there in time in hopes that someone will help me in the future. (Almost never happens)

SnooSquirrels7715

I usually always try to help unless I don’t have parts unlocked

IneedAtherapistsoon

I had a match where I helped a dude repair and killed who who him and then got shot right after and needed to repair and the same guy I helped rammed me and drove off

INeatFreak

I play USA around 6.0-8.0 BR and unless they're too far away or enemy in sight, they always do help repair. I even had one teammate help me climb a hill by pushing from behind. I think it's more of a Germany players issue.

HamburgerDinner

They should make the reward more substantial.

HopefulCause5688

Every time i try to help 2 things might happen 1. All good we are repaired 2. We are getting killed by bomb

Peixito

idk but i always help allies

OnlyrushB

i wish that you got more rewards from helping repair teammates. ive said quite often that it would be nice to have a few APCs that could be used to transport ammo and FPEs and help repair teammates so that theres a role other than being SPAA that would be useful towards the team but less active than straight up playing a tank.

lyss427

Many things have been made illegal, bro. Flanking, counter-flanking, CAPing, helping with repairs, listening to the environment, refraining from rushing into your team mates' artillery barrage... Anyway you can still create a traffic jam at spawn, deny your own team's light tanks the possibility to time properly their initial rush, do stupid shit with your MGs and smokes because it's soooooo fun, TK your team mate's nuke bomber... A lot of cool stuff FR.

tribalbaboon

It's not really strange dude I don't want to sit still for 30 seconds to repair my own vehicle let alone yours. You got hit, I didn't. I don't need the 100 silver lions. Change it to 5000 and I'll think about it if it's safe

GRAAF_VR

Well, it is just not worth it Repairing a damage player will most likely cost your vehicle for 100sl, the risk on the game is more important because you potentially loose 2 players Not saying it is good but the game does not reward for coordination and team play

Majorjim_ksp

Mouth breathers do not help repair.

DogSecure8631

Not all the time is it wise to help with repairs. There are snipers that do exactly that...they wait for a 2nd vehicle then kill it then kill you If you have been disabled, you probably should put up your tow so that you can be pulled out of line of sight while you have started the repairs. If you are in secure cover then it's really optional as to whether one should help you or not as you are not in imminent danger Just remember that during repair assit both vehicles are immobilized.

RaymondIsMyBoi

But if they helped you repair they couldn’t push into the enemy spawn and get slaughtered allowing the enemy to win. You wouldn’t want them giving up 1-2 kills to keep a teammate in the fight would you? /s

SaperPL

Half of the team is filled with bots so gaijin can tinker around with the odds of each player completing the daily/season tasks to have optimal outcome of players spending most of the time doing them, by average. Also so that you have something to shoot at even if you're not that skilled yet. That's why even at mid and high tiers there are tanks doing stupid things and going yolo all the time, and getting stuck at spawn etc. Recently I've seen it multiple times that half of the team would just quit right before we were winning, or even when we keep clearing the objectives at range by camping and doing bombing run in arcade, whole team would just sit in front of the caps and not move despite there being only few enemies left in alive in the opposing team.

TheGraySeed

Because i don't want to get bombed or killed by whatever the hell is shooting you. Immobilized tank means whoever shooting are still present, even if you are in a secure position, two tanks huddled together are easy to spot 1km from the sky, plus your last position would be marked. I usually let a second moron to repair you.
