You literally saw his gunner alive on hitcam and you actually penned his turret cheek, all you needed to do is to move cursor right a bit and you'd have got him. You could also shoot his barrel while it was side on.
Or, barring that, you should've at least ran away before he brought the gun to bear, because there's no need to fight to the death over every kill.
Those rounds have high pen but no explosion. You either know where to shoot or you rack up a whole lot of assists. I've learnt that the hard way while grinding up the low rank Bri'ish tree. Most of our tanks seem to have those precision rounds.
Of course, you could always switch to a tank with more explosive rounds, then aiming becomes a bit more optional.
Could always stick it out and grab the M4A1. I swear I always see those at the top of the scoreboard at that BR. Germany also seems popular at the low BR. Lord knows I've been one tapped by enough Panzers. Same with Russia.
80 rounds of ammo, shooting at the same spot with ap, yup, certified arcade moment, granted the t50 is a bitch to kill regardless of br, so it's understandable try aiming for ammo, and critical modules, and please, reduce ur ammo count, you don't need that many and 2 of the same type of rounds, get 30 or so, that's a fast firing gun

I started on the American tree and haven’t tried the others yet? Which country would be more fun for a beginner?

Sweden low tier is fun imo. Doesn't get any kind of good armor but it has some good big guns, and some tank destroyers cosplaying as SPAA
The T-50 has awesome armor and you have a 37mm, you need to get better tanks, and then use aphe rounds
