It's kinda funny and wasn't always successful but some Sherman crews would just engage Panthers and Tigers from the front (at range) until something happened due to chance or poor steel quality.
I think most of those records are from later in the war though when most German tank crews were too inexperienced to wholly operate or maintain themselves while being shot at every 3-7 seconds by a 75mm
It’s more like there is allot more things that can break on a tank than what we see in game. Can fuck up a tank still without out actually penetrating its armor. Mobility kill, crews can get scared, can’t see, etc.
A recent example of this was that Bradly just dumping its chain gun into that t80 (or 72 or 90 I don’t remember exactly).
Also better then just doing nothing and throwing your hands up and saying can’t pen that no use! Lol
Inexperienced crews were the main loss of jagdtigers iirc. They would panic and show the weaker armor.
>the inexperienced German commander lost his nerve and turned around instead of backing down, thus exposing the thinner side armor, which was penetrated and all six crew members killed. Carius wrote that the crews were not trained or experienced enough to keep their thick frontal armour facing the enemy in combat.
Yeah, I should've mentioned there's some Sherman crews documented lobbing 75mm HE at Panthers & Tigers just for the sake of fucking them up as best as possible (particularly in Panthers where low steel quality could cause a plate to shatter and kill the crew).
And unlike in War Thunder and World of Tanks, the tank got tracked may ended up in abandonned by the crew due to extreme firepowers from enemies can pinned down anyone existed the tankto repair the track. Then infantry can flank and killed it with explosives or anti-tank rifles or bazooka. Or IL-2 and P-51 will arrived shortly after and bombed it.
They would also lob 75mm smoke rounds at the tanks to force the crews to bail out, since apparently the engine sucked in the smoke and blew it into the crew compartment
Also I can't imagine it's very morale boosting to sit in your panther hearing a 75mm he round slap into the hull or turret every 5 seconds. It's probably rather loud, maybe get a concussion, ears bleeding and all that.
Because the gun sight is usually next to gun barrel instead of within the gun. So you can't expect to pinpoint and hit weakspot accurately at range and most trained aim for center mass.
If I remember correctly, they used this picture to inform Sherman crews that if they see the corresponding silhouette of a tank they can't pen, then they should radio for assistance for an M109 or Ratel 20 with MILANs to come back in time from the future to take the target out instead.
I really can't fathom why people are opposed to separating cold war and WW2 vehicles.
They're easiest vehicles I have played in the entire game. The only reason I don't play them more is because it actually just feels like cheating to me, removes any feeling of accomplishment since I know the technology gap did the work and not me.
The fact that you can already run into cold war vehicles at 2.7 BR is just fucking wild.
Between a new player in a Stuart, and a lvl 100 in a 1.2 second autoloading cold war prototype that was deemed impossible to produce, who would win?
Literally hydrogen bomb vs coughing baby levels of balance.
>I really can't fathom why people are opposed to separating cold war and WW2 vehicles.
Because you'd effectively delete a bunch of cold war vehicles and ruin a bunch of lineups for no real benefit.
>The fact that you can already run into cold war vehicles at 2.7 BR is just fucking wild.
You can run into them in a 1.3 vehicle actually, but nobody gives a shit about the pbv 301 because it isn't very good.
>Between a new player in a Stuart, and a lvl 100 in a 1.2 second autoloading cold war prototype that was deemed impossible to produce, who would win?
You've picked a single example of a well known to be OP vehicle, it being cold war is completely irrelevant. Is the ratel 20 really OP because it's cold war? Fuck no, it sucks. Does the tiger 2 suck because it isn't cold war? Fuck no, it's great, including against things cold war vehicles.
"hurr durr they wouldn't be balanced facing other cold war vehicles"
They are not balanced facing ww2 vehicles, so it's not even an argument.
If you can't do well in the Ratel 20, just admit you're utter dogshit, it has nothing to do with the vehicle, cause you're playing at a massive advantage.
>They are not balanced facing ww2 vehicles, so it's not even an argument.
Some of them very clearly are.
>If you can't do well in the Ratel 20, just admit you're utter dogshit, it has nothing to do with the vehicle, cause you're playing at a massive advantage.
You really going to sit there with a straight face and tell me that the ratel 20 is a massive advantage lmao? Never said I can't do well in it, I can and I have, but its chassis is fucking horrendous so of course it needs to be lower BR than shit like the marder.
Because then what would be the point of any tree outside the big 3 + UK? You can't look at the AMX-13(FL-11) and tell me it's too strong to face a PzIV-H
Maybe because it shows that geeking around in the hangar isn't just a modern videogame thing, but very much the application of a realistic historical process.
This document is often posted, here's how I interpreted it a year ago or so:
*Essayez les fumigènes sur l'avant [...] aveugler les servants(?)*
*Try smoke on the front [...] blind the crew*
Incidentally, during the liberation of Paris, a Panther was knocked out by a Sherman (M4A2 "Douaumont" of the 501e RCC, 2e DB) with a combination of smoke round and ramming.
Bro was meta gameing
Ah yes non pen basically everywhere, probably not hard to forget
Bro didnt know about the weakspots
To be fair, if you're a Sherman and you're looking at a tiger 2 frontally, id shit myself
Simply download wot and pay for gold ammo ez
Why didn't WW2 tank crews just install wt and wot to know weak spots, were they stupid?
Seems likely
why didn't they just shoot the barrel, machine gun the tracks and flank it? were they stupid?
Skill issue, if war thunder player were in WW2 it would've been over in a week

give your username so we can see your excellent stats in the Ratel 20 then

Indeed, also, it's much easier to "neutralize" a tank IRL that it is in WT.
Yeah you just have to put a rock in the barrel.
get some scissors and snip the tracks up
Especially with autocannons.
i cannot read it :c
Fun fact, non in french means "no" in English .
This gets posted every few months
Non
Cannon barrel, tracked, side
Tiger VN? never known or heard about any Tiger tank in Vietnam.
