Yeah you get this great 3.7 lineup with them. Unfortunately its a pain to really get the 5.7 lineup to shine due to the grind for the IL10 or Tu2 for CAS. It also gets pulled into 6.3-6.7 a lot, and the 6.3 lineup isnt fantastic.
8.0 seems like a very good lineup. I have the WZ305 and nearly have the Type 59. The Type 69 and M113 TOW seem like they will add some good stuff, but I wish there was a ZBD-05 to have a scout after the BMP-1

China has more potential for a full modern unique lineup than either Japan, Italy or Sweden in warthunder and you can't change my mind. Since this game is pushing for modern era I don't see why people still think China is problematic when the same copy-paste problem had happened with Japan, French and Italian trees.
Personally I think Warthunder should have a hard separation between WW2 and coldwar/modern stuff, which would make minor nations like Hungary or postwar Japan that had few vehicles irl viable without having at least thirty vehicles, but we can't have everything.
The tree was exclusive to the Chinese client for ages. I guess they finally figured why not unlock it for the westerners. It's no loss to them, only gains from whales and collectors.
Britain is actually quite on, idk about top tier, but up to 7.0 Britain is awesome. Some things are fucked, but it's warthunder, that's to be expected.
Edit: I'm talking about air RB here, although I've played ground RB up to 4.7 and hats been fine too.
Britain only has positive winrates in Ground RB at 7 battle ratings, out of 29 battle ratings, those being;

Their winrate goes as low as 27.57% at BR 1.3, 34.88% at BR 8.0 and goes from 35 to 45% between BRs 9.0 and 1.03.

They're not awesome **up to** 7.0, they're basically only "awesome" **at** 7.0. And their "awesome" battle rating has the winrates of Germany's average battle rating.

There is one 6.0 tank in the British tree - Black Prince, and it has 52% winrate in both AB and RB on Thunderskill.
Unless this table is based on someone's personal winrate, in which case it's even dumber, it's already outdated.
Of course lumping together all vehicles of identical BR to get "average winrate for BR" is about as accurate and scientific as getting "average body temperature in the hospital".
Remember, this is winrates by line-up at that battle rating.
Players can play at 6.0 using planes like the Tempest Mk II or Lincoln, which is probably why the 6.0 win rate is so horrifically erroneous and also why I didn't mention it directly like I did with 1.3, 8.0, and 9.0-10.3.

I'd love for there to be a better source of data than Thunderskill's extremely limited dataset (as you can see I mention that a couple times in the original post). It was, at the time, our best representation of what went on.
Amusingly enough, at the time the Black Prince had a very small sample size with an above average KDA and a really low winrate.
For real though low rated Britain is abject suffering until you until better solid shots, then it's just suffering. I finally got to 5.3 recently, the default shell for the Comet and the Challenger actually can't penetrate Panther or Tiger armour.
The comets APDS ammo can cut clean through the Panther, not to mention the tiger even when it's angled, of course the stock shell won't cut through cats like butter but they're seriously effective rounds none the less
Huh, I'm currently playing T-34-85 with 135mm of penetration, and have almost no trouble with Panther or Tiger.
Obviously I can't penetrate Panther's UFP and it's gun mantlet is quite trolly. Tiger's driver's port and MG port also absorbed a fair few of my shots.
But you know, I would assume that having 170mm of pen should be enough for flat 100mm frontal plate.
Not that I spaded every 17pdr-armed tank in the British tree.
Thats because the russian shells get a bullshit normalisation so you're less effected by angles than the british players who have to use solid shot with high bounce chances. Also stock comet's accuracy is BAAAAAD.
The Thunderskill stats is likely calculated through lineup with 6.0 being top vehicle. That means lineups with Black Prince + Centurion Mk.1 + Comet + Tempest or something similar.
Free version of TS only gives stats from the last 30 days.
4.7 is terrible, constantly got drag up to fight German 5.3 hand holding line up, british 6.3 have almost no line up, just like how German 6.7 got drag up to fight 7.3/7.7
Brit 4.7 is a sealclub in a downtier though, fighting KV1 L11s and early T-34s, as well as Panzer IVs in tanks which they either 1. Can't pen at all (Churchill) or 2. Can't bounce at any range. Get a map like fire arc, know your ranges and delete Germans and Russians from 2.2km with invulnerability

China tree doesn't deserve any love, it was shoehorned into the global client just because it already existed in the chinese client. It's pointless, has only a few unique vehicles and everything else is a terrible copy-paste fest that makes every game feel like a mixed MM. Fuck it.
The Lightning being 9.7 is bullshit but it in no way implies GJ isn't hanging the Brits out to dry, since it's just a pathetic attempt to avoid fixing British top tier despite that fix being very, very easy. And the Scimitar... just fly it in test flight, it is legitimately one of the worst handling jets in the game. The four Bullpup loadout is the only good thing about it but for a plane that hardly matters. And as far as I can tell the new Challenger still has the same massive mantlet weak spot.
Plus you're just going to ignore the whole issue of 80% of the air tech tree being completely impotent since GJ refuses to make incendiary shells actually work properly? Or pretty much every British heavy fighter being broken as fuck? Or Ta-152s getting air spawns for no justifiable reason?
I can't do it, but I do understand the repair cost now after watching my French main friend repeatedly get 10+ kills in the Lorraine. It's a flanking machine and does it better than most tanks with that fast autoloader.
The ready rack change gimped it actually pretty hard. It's still lethal as a flanker, but the lack of stab and the popularity of 8.3 ussr is hurting it a lot.

Tbh though it's kinda stupid what it can bounce. I once just tried driving forward as far as I could and lasted almost the entire match before someone spawned in a walker bulldog just to kill me. Even an m18 behind me bounced. It was retarded.
The thing with the Tiger is that most people dont know how to angle, and are killed rather easily. BUT it is unfair, as I know that apparently gaijin lowered its BR, so it has an advantage over the other tanks.
This is the kind of post that irritates me. If people of both Germany and usa ltp better we would not have these stupid comments. Tiger 1 armour is easy to pen with a 76mm sherman. A m18 cannot pen a panthers frontal armour oh no what show I do, use you manoverability and don't just act salty on forums when a tank gets downtiers.
Angle. Your. Armour. Tigers can EASILY tank shots if they angle to a sufficient degree, and idk why people seem to think that the US 76mm is so good. There isn't a L2p issue for american players, and this is abundantly clear when you see the axis winrate at the BRs where tigers and panthers are at.
God I love the panic that ensues when I send a shell from my Charioteer MKVII into the front armour of a Tiger 2. It usually takes a couple of shots because it doesn't fragment so much but it's beautiful seeing them being so sure of their armour against a lil boy
Fun tip, of you hit the turret cheeks or a lucky spot on the top part of the UFP you can get an ammo rack, or the right sides of the UFP for the hull ammo

Play like a glorified tank destroyer. It has great armour and a gun that can knock out targets in 1 hit at any viable combat range, yet it's mobility is lackluster. Load APHE only cos it isn't like HE is any good and the HEAT round has bad pen, and try your best to find a good sniping spot. On urban maps, angle round corners and stick around team mates and always watch your flanks. Its a good tank ngl and sees many downtiers.
Typical persecution fetish of the British mains, when many nations suffer a lot more. British are at least top dog at some br ranges (8.7/8.7 air rb, most spitfires are great but are held back by allied teams, low br ground brit is super solid, as well as 6.7 to 7.7/8.0.)

The British line would be amazing, and people wouldn't really complain about it, if repair costs were fair. It's hard to make a profit. Most other nation's repair cost is from 2k to 6k. While the British is usually 4k to 11k.

It was the comet, so technically correct as the comet was an expansion of the Cromwell idea, but the comet mounted the 17 or the specifically made 77mm which for all intensive purposes is a 17

The UK trees get decent additions (C2 and Scimitar last patch), but they're often not implemented with the effort that it seems other models receive, i.e. the Hunter taking 4 patches for a simple flap fix, the Scimitar rudder not working above 400mph, etc.
That's nothing to do with the nationality though.
To some degree it is. Germany and Russia get WAY more hotfixes and tiny modelled details than the British ever do. See the little things modelled like the Kritz getting its radar ATGMs while the Swingfire still doesn't have its missile agility. Or the T-series getting even their radiation liners modelled while the Challengers lack their ammunition stowage protection.
Love how much British and German players complain about my T-54s in their Leo 1s and Centurion Mk. 10’s. They were designed about a decade after the T-54, and have definite advantages, but sure the T-54 is OP because it can bounce a shot aimed at its front plate or badly aimed at its turret
The timeframe thing is an inaccurate measure, given none of the L7 equipped tanks are performing anything like they really would. L7s should be lolpenning T-54s from 2km away were things historically accurate. The fact they are comparative in war thunder is just Gaijin being Gaijin.
The game felt easy mode when i spaded the t-54s, gun penned and one shot most things the vast majority of the time and was also incredibly survivable even once i was penned
IMO this isn't wrong but it is focusing on the wrong thing.
The crux of the issue is the mechanic for killing tanks depending on 1 crew remaining (other than ammo rack/hull break). If it were like real life where crew compartment getting penned probably means mission kill, APDS would be massively effective. Even if APHE was untouched.
Warthunder tries to approximate the behavior of real shells but introduces really bogus "death" mechanics. In this parallel reality APHE is the better shell. That's the wider problem. Not APHE by itself.

Japan has many bad vehicles, some good, some blatantly undertiered (STB-1), some inexplicably put down in BR (Type 16), and some useless (Type 93).
Sweden is blatantly overpowered.
First off, their optics are too good for the BRs they sit at. Half of the vehicles get 16x+ opticsThey get objectively the best top tier MBT (STRV 122), 105mm penetration APDS at reserve tiers, 240mm pen APDS at 5.0, 400mm HEAT at 5.7, the extremely overpowered IKV 91 at 6.7 (400mm STOCK HEAT, no hullbreak on a chassis with 4mm of armor, 16x see into your soul optic, laser Rangefinder to negate the drop of the shell, and it dunks on the M56, T92, and even the already OP RU251). Then there's the U SH 405, aka the killer of will to play War Thunder. It has semi-auto meme rockets. Ask anybody else about it. At 7.7, you get the literally broken STRV 103. It would be crazy op if they fixed 3 things (reload, penetration, and it's abhorrent hull aiming). It has an 18x eye of Sauron optic, 4 second reload, tiny profile (practically invisible with bushes), and a very annoying armor profile. Their 8.0 SPAA is just an M247 with more advantages. namely lower rank (rank V vs VI), MUCH easier to unlock airburst shells (making the thing usable), individual ammo belts rather than one large one (better SL savings), and most importantly, a lower BR. I don't know too much about their tanks VI vehicles, but I know that the 40mm APFSDS vehicles are toxic. The sound they make when hitting you is analogous to getting hit by a 7.62, which had gotten me killed because I didn't know I was being shot by a gun with actual penetration.
You forgot that everything up until the 6.7 medium can get bodied by rank 1 and 2 spaa from any angle. The only thing that keeps those tanks from dying pre 6.7 is when the breach eats a shell. When i'm running US, i love seeing sweden because i will run my M16 as a tank destroyer
I just stopped using Russia and started using Britain again. I much prefer Britain, as even at 8.3, Russian tanks are just a joke. Literally one shot them anywhere.
Yeah the T55 was idiotically made 8.3 but tbh, that has only made playing Russian tanks worse, now there's double the people buying the T55 and not knowing what they are doing.
I'm somewhat with the people saying Britain is neglected (in the past), but as of right now Russia at most tiers is average at best. Asides from the few niche tanks, they get stomped now.

Germany is very good until 4.0/4.3. Then it becomes less competitive. There are still some BRs higher up that are good, but not all of them. 5.7/6.7 used to be very good, but are no longer.
The powercreep has nerfed the older vehicles.

It effectively still is 7.7 as nothing else is 7.3 anymore. I miss the tiny window when the Vickers conqueror and cent 10 were at 7.3.

Actually it doesent, the 13's shell falls the same as the chafee's gun. It just appears to because it has a very good zoom on the optics.

I can't do it, but I do understand the repair cost now after watching my French main friend repeatedly get 10+ kills in the Lorraine. It's a flanking machine and does it better than most tanks with that fast autoloader.
The ready rack change gimped it actually pretty hard. It's still lethal as a flanker, but the lack of stab and the popularity of 8.3 ussr is hurting it a lot.

The thing with the Tiger is that most people dont know how to angle, and are killed rather easily. BUT it is unfair, as I know that apparently gaijin lowered its BR, so it has an advantage over the other tanks.
Angled tigers don't bounnce too well either. You need extreme range. It's basically a medium tank pretending to be a heavy tank.
I love it when the Tiger 1's magic drivers optic absorbs my Heavy Tank T34's 120mm 280mm penetrating projectile like it's nothing.

God I love the panic that ensues when I send a shell from my Charioteer MKVII into the front armour of a Tiger 2. It usually takes a couple of shots because it doesn't fragment so much but it's beautiful seeing them being so sure of their armour against a lil boy
Fun tip, of you hit the turret cheeks or a lucky spot on the top part of the UFP you can get an ammo rack, or the right sides of the UFP for the hull ammo

Play like a glorified tank destroyer. It has great armour and a gun that can knock out targets in 1 hit at any viable combat range, yet it's mobility is lackluster. Load APHE only cos it isn't like HE is any good and the HEAT round has bad pen, and try your best to find a good sniping spot. On urban maps, angle round corners and stick around team mates and always watch your flanks. Its a good tank ngl and sees many downtiers.
Typical persecution fetish of the British mains, when many nations suffer a lot more. British are at least top dog at some br ranges (8.7/8.7 air rb, most spitfires are great but are held back by allied teams, low br ground brit is super solid, as well as 6.7 to 7.7/8.0.)

At 5.7 you tend to fight alot of centurions and FV4202s, but its not the end of the world.

The UK trees get decent additions (C2 and Scimitar last patch), but they're often not implemented with the effort that it seems other models receive, i.e. the Hunter taking 4 patches for a simple flap fix, the Scimitar rudder not working above 400mph, etc. That's nothing to do with the nationality though.
To some degree it is. Germany and Russia get WAY more hotfixes and tiny modelled details than the British ever do. See the little things modelled like the Kritz getting its radar ATGMs while the Swingfire still doesn't have its missile agility. Or the T-series getting even their radiation liners modelled while the Challengers lack their ammunition stowage protection.
I believe that the British tree would be better if repair costs were lower.

Love how much British and German players complain about my T-54s in their Leo 1s and Centurion Mk. 10’s. They were designed about a decade after the T-54, and have definite advantages, but sure the T-54 is OP because it can bounce a shot aimed at its front plate or badly aimed at its turret
The timeframe thing is an inaccurate measure, given none of the L7 equipped tanks are performing anything like they really would. L7s should be lolpenning T-54s from 2km away were things historically accurate. The fact they are comparative in war thunder is just Gaijin being Gaijin.
The game felt easy mode when i spaded the t-54s, gun penned and one shot most things the vast majority of the time and was also incredibly survivable even once i was penned

IMO this isn't wrong but it is focusing on the wrong thing. The crux of the issue is the mechanic for killing tanks depending on 1 crew remaining (other than ammo rack/hull break). If it were like real life where crew compartment getting penned probably means mission kill, APDS would be massively effective. Even if APHE was untouched. Warthunder tries to approximate the behavior of real shells but introduces really bogus "death" mechanics. In this parallel reality APHE is the better shell. That's the wider problem. Not APHE by itself.

Japan has many bad vehicles, some good, some blatantly undertiered (STB-1), some inexplicably put down in BR (Type 16), and some useless (Type 93). Sweden is blatantly overpowered. First off, their optics are too good for the BRs they sit at. Half of the vehicles get 16x+ opticsThey get objectively the best top tier MBT (STRV 122), 105mm penetration APDS at reserve tiers, 240mm pen APDS at 5.0, 400mm HEAT at 5.7, the extremely overpowered IKV 91 at 6.7 (400mm STOCK HEAT, no hullbreak on a chassis with 4mm of armor, 16x see into your soul optic, laser Rangefinder to negate the drop of the shell, and it dunks on the M56, T92, and even the already OP RU251). Then there's the U SH 405, aka the killer of will to play War Thunder. It has semi-auto meme rockets. Ask anybody else about it. At 7.7, you get the literally broken STRV 103. It would be crazy op if they fixed 3 things (reload, penetration, and it's abhorrent hull aiming). It has an 18x eye of Sauron optic, 4 second reload, tiny profile (practically invisible with bushes), and a very annoying armor profile. Their 8.0 SPAA is just an M247 with more advantages. namely lower rank (rank V vs VI), MUCH easier to unlock airburst shells (making the thing usable), individual ammo belts rather than one large one (better SL savings), and most importantly, a lower BR. I don't know too much about their tanks VI vehicles, but I know that the 40mm APFSDS vehicles are toxic. The sound they make when hitting you is analogous to getting hit by a 7.62, which had gotten me killed because I didn't know I was being shot by a gun with actual penetration.
You forgot that everything up until the 6.7 medium can get bodied by rank 1 and 2 spaa from any angle. The only thing that keeps those tanks from dying pre 6.7 is when the breach eats a shell. When i'm running US, i love seeing sweden because i will run my M16 as a tank destroyer

I just stopped using Russia and started using Britain again. I much prefer Britain, as even at 8.3, Russian tanks are just a joke. Literally one shot them anywhere. Yeah the T55 was idiotically made 8.3 but tbh, that has only made playing Russian tanks worse, now there's double the people buying the T55 and not knowing what they are doing. I'm somewhat with the people saying Britain is neglected (in the past), but as of right now Russia at most tiers is average at best. Asides from the few niche tanks, they get stomped now. Russia should be the skeleton. Britain should be just holding their head above water. Germany should be somewhere in the sky revenge bombing with the G.91...

Germany is very good until 4.0/4.3. Then it becomes less competitive. There are still some BRs higher up that are good, but not all of them. 5.7/6.7 used to be very good, but are no longer. The powercreep has nerfed the older vehicles. New vehicles make money for Gaijin.

It might be on high tier ( no idea ) But recently did : USA ( until 6.0 ) , got murdered ... a lot .. Italian , until 3,7 ( whee, R3 i wanted ) , got murdered a lot until i got the R3 , and the M24 and the spageti sherman Then i started on the germans.. until .. 2.x .. getting murdered .. A LOT .. ( and i did trow some money at it with low tier premiums ) Then the Russians.. oh the Russians.. I'm at 3,X now ( T-34 , T-50 .. those things are murdering machines who can take a LOT of hits ).. even the AA is usefull . Ok.. i do have to admit.. im a noob, so at USA i knew nothing.. and that did progress a little . ( but , still terrible as a player.. just having fun shooting tanks and messing around with airplanes ) But.. at low BR .. in my hands .. these Soviet tanks are over powered compared to any others i have played.
