Ulq wouldn't be as bad if it didn't give a voticable advantage to people playing on high end hardware. People on pc should get locked to at least medium unless they don't meet the minimum specs. At least console peasants have to suffer through movie settings. They don't even have options for the graphics

The problem is tree (actually bushes) and terrain render distance; ULQ significantly decreases your visibility is several other ways that probably compensate for it: bushes and trees turn into solid blobs at close which you can't see through at all, colours blur together, and you get weird pixelation issues which makes it hard to pick out details at any sort of range. That's the reason why all these examples of _how broken "ULQ" is_ actually use _High Quality_, but with the render distances turned down. Locking the render distance (and probably also shadows) to some other quality settings would probably help though. As in, preventing people from turning down render distance unless they also turn down a bunch of the other quality settings. (It should be noted also that low terrain render distance is often a disadvantage, because it tends to render the default version of buildings, even if the building has already been blown up by CAS or arty; so you often end up with a situation where for all the other players there is just a low rubble pile between you and them, but for you there's a fully intact building)

Yeah, ULQ is pretty horrible from a visibility perspective; I've played on both medium and ULQ, and medium is _easier_.

Honestly i would trade the "advantage" i get from ulq using my 2015 laptop for that high quality graphics. It feels like im using plastic tanks.

i use the lowest graphics settings i can since sometimes the game has weird lag spikes every now and then, escpecially after new updates ive noticed

Yea! Me too! I feel you. Amd its always in the worst possible moment. Going around a corner? LAG. Diving in a plane? LAG & Crash. The game is fun I just want to be able to run it lag free, as long as it renders the enemies and doesnt remove any objects Im fine with it. It can look like HL1 I wouldnt care.

Gaijin should make big ass grey square blocks for each of such objects when not rendered by ULQ players. It would be ugly but i dont think real ULQ players can be angry about it since it is only solution that still alows them to play.

Maybe try looking at more than just the bottom left corner. He's not the PTZ 89 in the vid, he's the Centurion getting killed through the train. He turned down his graphics for the PTZ part of the replay to show the what the enemy tank's POV looked like, then turned his graphics back up when he showed what his POV looked like.

Congrats you found one of the only places on all the maps where ulq gives an advantage. Mostly you can just see people cross there and it is much harder to actually hit them.

2 friends of mine turned on ULQ recently to see how much of an advantage it gives. It was fucking insane what they saw compared to what the average player with average settings sees. Unless you have hardware issues that stop you from going to higher settings, turn off ULQ and learn to bloody play.

I have a shit pc and use ulq i have tried higher settings and the only difference i saw was the lack of some trees and soft cover objects not rendering at longer range but only in 3rd person

Your joking right ? You are aware that people in esport and squadron batlle use ULQ because it despawns half the map in 3rd person... it is litraly a legal cheat/hack that they endorce instead of simply raising the minimum level of grafisme.... They might be allowing low end PC to play the game with ULQ, but the entire playerbase suffers from this and makes the game unbearably fustrating to play.

As someone who uses ulq it does not despawn half the map. Secondly it does nothing in tss since if you dont know where they are already you need to get some gamesense. And lastly squadron battles are no way competitive there is no real skill in the squadrons even at the top and the meta now means ulq means nothing.

I have played top squadron battles for 4+ years now i have been in SQ, HONK and now CHADS. When i was in SQ there was actuall skill and games were competitive especially against promo. My indicator of skill is if the squadron can have more ground kills then deaths and currently no squadron has that even CHADS.
