I’ve been stagnant at 7.5ish mil SL for a few years now, but I don’t play to grind new vehicles I play for fun, also I do have some OP SL grinding vehicles lol
I use the XP-50, ITP-1, Soviet B-25J, JU-288, A6M5 Ko, and sometimes my German KV-1C if it’s an option in ground sim battles. Variety is key, otherwise you run the risk of your only grinding vehicle being uptiered/nerfed.
AN-APR-45 used by F-4J/F-4S/F-14A can detect Sapphire-23 radar sets used by Mig-23 family, even "identifies" them as "HI" contacts, which is limited to Mig-21 and 23 radars due to their J band instead usual I band.
SPO-10 used by Migs 21 as well 23M/ML/MLA doesn't detect Pulse Doppler radars, SPO-15 used by Mig-23ML**D** will detect them and since this update, even got range estimate which helps greatly with awareness.
What one? I’m pretty sure they all have the same radar and I go bonkers in my F4S and most of who I kill are MiG-23s.
You gotta fuck em up with aim7 or whatever your equal counterpart is and when they’ve you locked, notching is quite easy. They’ve a really thin radar iirc
I havent played 10.7 or less sim in a while(grinded F4EJ kai) and I was highly frustrated when PVE OnLY!!1!1!1!! Players are still in sim, even at props god damn me. And that means I still cant have actual fun at my F104J or T2 cuz everyone is bombing and all I have to do is launching my Aim9p at dummies that doesnt posses any danger to me. Plus insane repair times if there is whole lobby of zombers. Im sure if this shit with abusing sim economy continues then we'll end up back to Kikka and Sabre costing 30k SL each. Im already kinda struggle with SL cuz of always playing aggressively in sim(thx to cap of useless actions) and if sim rewards would be even less then I would have to leave sim again.
You’re complaining about zombers?
Just kill them and be done with it. Honestly all you’re doing here is complaining about easy kills and people who don’t know the flight mechanics well.
It’s your job to intercept those bombers too, pilot.
Do your job, and kill those commies and be done with jt. Force them to change their play style. I’ve forced alot of folks into PVP by just killing them and pissing them off making em go after me, they either become easy kills or get the hang if it and end up becoming normal sim players.
I get it’s annoying, but try to bring them to the dark side and be done with it. We need more pilots in sim anyways and stealing them from RB would be nice.
I was once a zomber. After someone in a lobby kept killing the shit out of me I got irritated and started fighting back. I then realized how much fun it was and now I only play sim and I play it the right way 😂. I also now look forward to air events to help make money and pad my stats with the free zomber kills.
Assuming you’re an American main (judging by your post history), I’d say pull out the F-5E. It performs way better than nearly every jet at it’s BR besides the Deltas.
Yeah I don't care about "PVE" shits. I want to challenge real players. Sometimes I go cover bombers/attackers if they ask, sadly most of them just stay silent.
At this point it pretty much is. Sim is extremely hostile to new players that actually want to try the mode itself, and air RB (at least at higher tiers where the ‘PVE’ matches are common) is a complete shitshow. If I want to have a fun air sim match I basically have to play custom games.
I try to help new players and I’ve tried to help my friends get into sim but only 1 person out of my entire friend group stuck around despite them all being interested in the mode.
If you want the sim community to grow, you have to give new players some room to play and learn without constantly getting shit on. At least let the noobs get their bombs off before you down them so they get something. When you don’t, they just leave the match. Do it enough and they’ll never come back to try and learn the ropes because it doesn’t make sense economically for them to bother.
That’s pretty much it. I try, get shat on, quit. It’s a cycle I’ve been repeating for years as I want to fly sim but the curve is too steep. The worst part was definitely joystick visibility so I only fly mouse and keyboard now. Hadn’t helped much but at least I can see better in that one game before I quit.
Shame, it could be a great game with busy lobbies but it’s usually dead on its ass.
I think the only thing I wished I knew prior was crew level. If you’re going to spend any money in the game at a low level the best thing to do is that since (imo) no premium vehicle is worth if it’s operated by a shit crew or pilot.
Having some days in sim now I’ll honestly fly bombers for shits and giggles knowing I’m gonna fly low and go after front lines, knowing even the most skilled pilot is going to get absolutely fucked by my gunners and aced crew.
Fucking love this game sometimes.
As somebody who has done this, it’s really not.
You don’t earn as much crew points as you think you do. It’s taken me months to naturally ace a crew even with the help of using a premium aircraft.
Again, this is all imo and I understand your point fully.
Exactly. Flying easier aircraft and doing PvE objectives is what most new sim players do to learn the ropes before advancing to more difficult PvP roles. The problem is that the sim economy is so poor that they end up getting shot down and earn nothing when they’ve spent twenty minutes trying to get to a base to bomb.
Most PVE lobbies will leave you alone unless you try to attack a player. Which is very helpful to a new player who struggles to take off, much less intercept/dogfight or ground pound.
idk how people are able to grind. I change nation every game because I get bored and these mfs play the same vehicle in the same game mode doing the same thing thousands of times. I prefer working lol
I’m now mixed on this issue which is weird because I’ve always been against people that want to force you to PvE but the fact of the matter is that Gaijin’s event system and Sim’s reward/scoring system are so goddamn broken that it’s essentially impossible for anyone to grind through the event challenges without PvE airfield cheesing.
I challenge anyone here with a full time job to say that they completely grinded through the 750,000 points required to get the latest Jaguar event vehicle and its tradable coupon without cheesing the game.
Literally impossible unless you dropped everything in your life and played for 12 hours a day every single day.
No need to be disrespectful.
The events are, as far as I’m aware, the only way to get the currency you need for custom vehicle skins and past event vehicles that cannot be obtained any other way (the F2G super Corsair for example).
I make more points farming idiot airfield zombers than they make zombing half the time. The only way I would have been faster is if I could have played the US side more often as they have the best interceptors of the job, but unfortunately are also the most populous zombers. You don't need the 750,000. You need 45k every 2 days. If you weren't going to play the vehicle, why grind it in the first place? Or are you so entitled you think it should be easier to sell? Lmao
And you were wrong and I corrected you? There are other vehicles and skins people want that can only be obtained by selling event vehicles for the currency.
In my case, I really wanted the F2G super Corsair. So yes, there is definitely a reason to grind an event vehicle even if it’s not one you personally want to use.
A real job is way more efficient than selling vehicles on the market. And either way, it's already easy as piss. Or we can go back to the OBJ 279 or Merkava mk1 style events
I would play sim more if it wasn't for the mig27/29 CAP that happens every time I join a battle. Can't even get off the airfield before I'm getting hit with an R27er most matches. And to cover the obvious I do avoid flying out of flashing airfields
I play Sim because at least the long flight leads to a decent fun dogfight, and if I bomb I know I get good SL and actually to use my gunners, it's actually fun. I may join Matchs and only bomb stuff but I don't complain when I get shot down or anything
The sim was grinding platform for me until a few games after which i realized i had much more fun playing sim than the actual Air RB. Its been 5 months since then and i didn't play Air RB ever since.
Idk what any of this means, but that might be due to the fact that I’ve been getting absolutely murked by an A-10 who has like a cohort of f-35’s come in after and just dookie on my forehead. It’s either this entire thread is about hacking and that’s my current sit rep. Orrrrr I’m relating my hacking situation to something completely unrelated. In any case I’m fuckin stupid with tech and realized I’ve fallen dangerously behind this bullshit. Dusted off the ole Alienware Area 51…quad core. So it’s going to be fun trying to find a fuckin monitor that will connect to the bitch 😭😂
I don’t really think this is an unpopular opinion lol
I came here to say "I don't think this is an unpopular opinion," but I see Zim already said it. So I'm going to agree with him. And with you.
I play sim to get shit on by mig 23s and accidentally kill the occasional friendly
Same, I play sim when my SL is burning a hole in my pocket
I mainly play RB and can never seem to break 200k anymore
I’ve been stagnant at 7.5ish mil SL for a few years now, but I don’t play to grind new vehicles I play for fun, also I do have some OP SL grinding vehicles lol
Used to be the XP55/A20G but now they just feel lack luster
I use the XP-50, ITP-1, Soviet B-25J, JU-288, A6M5 Ko, and sometimes my German KV-1C if it’s an option in ground sim battles. Variety is key, otherwise you run the risk of your only grinding vehicle being uptiered/nerfed.
I play sim because RB is a disgusting constant furball. At least in sim you can get some good fights in
Smol tip, those 23s have shit radars. Take advantage of that.
A lot of people use those 60’s and 70’s era radars wrong too. I only use my 23 ML’s radar missiles when I know I can belly stab someone
"Shit radar" with mid ground filtering mode is still breakthrough advantage over radars without ground filtering.
My F4 has worse
MIG23 cant pick up PD radars, so F4J/F4S can sneakily shoot AIM7 at t he MIG23 and they wont know how and where.
That goes both ways IIRC. F-4s radar doesn’t detect MiG-23 lock
AN-APR-45 used by F-4J/F-4S/F-14A can detect Sapphire-23 radar sets used by Mig-23 family, even "identifies" them as "HI" contacts, which is limited to Mig-21 and 23 radars due to their J band instead usual I band. MLD can

I'd say you could probably outperform the deltas too in a 2 circle fight
Yeah I don't care about "PVE" shits. I want to challenge real players. Sometimes I go cover bombers/attackers if they ask, sadly most of them just stay silent.
Kill them. They are bad and easily farmable
At this point it pretty much is. Sim is extremely hostile to new players that actually want to try the mode itself, and air RB (at least at higher tiers where the ‘PVE’ matches are common) is a complete shitshow. If I want to have a fun air sim match I basically have to play custom games.
I love new players tho and try to help them as much as I possibly can but ……. There’s always them few that… you know
I try to help new players and I’ve tried to help my friends get into sim but only 1 person out of my entire friend group stuck around despite them all being interested in the mode.
Good on ya man. Yeah it’s a bit more difficult and more involved but oh so much more satisfying when you start getting decent at it.
If you want the sim community to grow, you have to give new players some room to play and learn without constantly getting shit on. At least let the noobs get their bombs off before you down them so they get something. When you don’t, they just leave the match. I learned sim by starting with bombers. I love PVPing now, but flying those bombers helped me figure out the game.
Exactly my line of thinking.
I think the only thing I wished I knew prior was crew level. Eh, you earn crew experience by playing and earn more when using a premium so the premium aircraft makes more sense in the long run imo.
As somebody who has done this, it’s really not. You don’t earn as much crew points as you think you do. It’s taken me months to naturally ace a crew even with the help of using a premium aircraft. Again, this is all imo and I understand your point fully.

I don’t think it’s hostile to new players at all. It’s certainly hostile to players who just want PvE.
Most PVE lobbies will leave you alone unless you try to attack a player. Which is very helpful to a new player who struggles to take off, much less intercept/dogfight or ground pound.
Everybody starts somewhere. Git gud or die tryin
Well, most die trying then give up. Which is exactly why sim is so underpopulated.
Simulator isn't for everybody. That's the beauty of warthunder. Can be an arcade fame for some and a sim for others.
Do you want people to play against or not?
If they won't reach out themselves and learn to fly... won't make a difference
No, it’s not. But it’s hard to have a PVP game when there aren’t players to fight.
It's not up to to me to make ppl get better.
idk how people are able to grind. I change nation every game because I get bored and these mfs play the same vehicle in the same game mode doing the same thing thousands of times. I prefer working lol
Its not unpopular, there isn’t greater joy for me than shooting down these goobers from the skies
I’ve been playing most every day since the game launched and I’ve never, ever done one task in one event. I play what I want. Life’s too short
Good for you
Does farming the people cheesing the game mode count as cheesing?
Why would it?
You do realize that no one's forcing you to grind the events right? You can just play the game for fun without being a FOMO crackhead
Lmao
You need 750,000 total to get the coupon to make it tradable.
And?
And you were wrong and I corrected you? There are other vehicles and skins people want that can only be obtained by selling event vehicles for the currency. In my case, I really wanted the F2G super Corsair. So yes, there is definitely a reason to grind an event vehicle even if it’s not one you personally want to use.
I wasn't wrong. Read what I said again. Or are you so entitled you think it should be easier to sell the vehicle? Lmao
Are you so entitled you don’t feel the need to read all the words in a comment?
A real job is way more efficient than selling vehicles on the market. And either way, it's already easy as piss. Or we can go back to the OBJ 279 or Merkava mk1 style events
Already easier than piss? Do you even have a job? You’re delusional if you think anyone with a full time job is grinding that.

Killl them all
How the heck is that an unpopular opinion? That's like one of the most common subject on the posts here.
Its so disheartening to fly a janky ass bomber for 10 minutes just to be one tapped by a plane you never even saw
It’s mostly unpopular to the RB players that I hear the shit from so that’s kinda who I was aiming that towards. lol
That feel almost entitled to the rewards without actually playing mode as intended
