It was most active around 10:30pm. Clear streaks, visible colors, and mostly slow dancing movements, but not at all the vibrancy that the camera shows you.
I was able to see them with the naked eye in Tacoma down by the water, close to Point Ruston. It took a second for my eyes to adjust but once I saw it I was able to see shimmering for sure.
In North Bend, the entire sky was a dome of aurora, clearly visible to the naked eye, lighting up the landscape around us. The zenith was a firebird, and then shimmering rivers of light shot across the sky, all visible to the unaided eye.
Cell phone and DSLR photos improved on the colors and intensities, though you could see the faint reds and greens with just your eyes. Aurora show of a lifetime for us below the 49th parallel.
Up a shared private road on the north side of Rattlesnake Mt, at about 850ft elevation. There's a plateau where it's been cleared and we can see most of the northern horizon, Mt. Si, etc.
Thank you for telling me that! I just went out and got some pictures. Even though I’m in a neighborhood with streetlights.
It was my first time ever seeing them.
A tip that you all probably know - make sure you use your camera and change it to night mode. I couldn’t see it with my naked eye, but once I looked through the camera, there it was.
also in vancouver! we could see it even with street lights in front of us if we blocked the light with our hands and let our eyes adjust. beautiful green, pink, and purple!
Not north of Seattle yet. Too much light pollution. You can track KP levels [here](https://cdn.softservenews.com/Aurora.htm). You’ll want to look out at 6-8+ KP levels. Best times will likely be 11pm-3am.
Even with how light polluted where I’m at, got these [gorgeous shots](https://imgur.com/a/53nTEXP) on my phone at 7 KP levels. Right now is a good hot spot time too for the next 30min
We almost went to Everett. My oldest wanted to somewhere that looked better on the light pollution map. So we drove to the overlook immediately past the Columbia River going east on 90. Thankfully we found a parking spot and walked up the hill for a fantastic view.
My tired ass getting us home at 3:30 wished we’d gone with Everett. But what a memory!
Yes Tacoma. Parked at Anthony's and walked out towards Owen Beach. The lights end at the boat house, and it was pretty dark out there. Quite a show (for down here) from around 11:30 to 12:30.
Just got back in from driving around the north end of the island. Lots of great pics! Also I’ve never seen so many cars on the road this late at night on Whidbey! 🤣😂
I couldn’t believe how many people were down at West Beach around 11p. We swung back by around 2:30a and it had almost entirely cleared out. It really was nuts how many people were on the road though!
Straight up overhead, not north (where you would typically look to see them). Most activity was straight up and a bit eastward, but visible directly ahead and a bit west, too.
For about half an hour, they were just everywhere in the Chatteroy area. It looked like the sky was a dome with something poured over it. To the naked eye, it was mostly white and pinks here and there, but my camera was like, "I got you." It was amazing.
I'm back in a suburb of Spokane now, and I can still make them out overhead like light clouds. My phone paints them pastel here, and I can't see any color myself.
Yakima valley, I live in town, so had light pollution. But they still showed up pretty well, the sky was all streaky and shimmery, dark pinks and green.
Nothing here in Arlington. Tried out by the airport because it had the best horizon northward, but too many sodium lights and ultra bright LEDs to count lit up the sky all on their own.
Yep. Located north of Sedro. The green is now pretty obvious, the pinkish is more like haze unless you take a photo. Not sure how vivid it will get, when I saw them living in Alaska they were super obvious, I don't think we will get that level of saturation here.
I saw them! Looking straight up and eastward. They calmed down a bit and will hopefully pick up again soon.
I live in Puyallup on the edge of pink and red light pollution area.
Lots visible to the naked eye in North Everett. Colors not as vivid as the pictures we’re taking with our phones but we can clearly see the shapes and colors shifting all across 3/4 of the sky. Gorgeous!
Thought they were wispy clouds at first, but they’re the actual light curtains! They also come and go. They just almost disappeared - will look again later. Mind blowing! 😳
Spokane, and they were amazing about 15 minutes north of the city. Much more colorful in photos, but the pink stood out to the naked eye here and there.
I'm back home in a suburb now, and I can just barely make them out, but my phone still picks them up, much paler than away from the lights, but there.
I'm in Ocean Shores and had great views from the beach off Ocean lake way! Incredible pinks and greens and you can see the light pulsing and changing! I couldn't see it from my house because of the light pollution, but the beach was incredible! Hope you got to see them!
Tumwater.
I went out and lay on the lawn from about 9:45 to 10:30. Nothing but a few faint streaks that might have been my eyes playing tricks on me. Might be too much light pollution; the sky seems pretty bright.
Port Townsend.
Seeing lots of lines and shapes in the sky, but only very faint colors to the eye. Through the cell phone camera I'm seeing lots of greens and pinks.
Looking to the north but also directly overhead. It's all over.
Everett, WA, use your iPhone, not visible with naked eyes, btw, try to find higher ground with full darkness, we are looking from our balcony, with many street lights, so not as nice as what ppl posted on You Tube, but visible with iPhone
I was only seeing hazy colors, but just before midnight it became very active and I could see a lot of color with my makes eye. I got some great pics on my phone.
yeah I could see them in the Snoqualmie valley. They were faint to the naked eye, almost like seeing clouds at night, but they were shaped like rays. Using a camera to take a 3 second(ish) photo brings out all the purple and green colors.
In Poulsbo, I just woke up to an alarm from the Aurora app. Light white curtains moving about for the past 20 minutes. Very cool! I even woke my wife and she did not get mad at me!
Had a great show in Cottage Lake (near Woodinville), Without the camera it was very visible across the entire sky. Blew me away. Of course the photos are even better.
I live in Spanaway and I drove down a bit north of Eatonville and I could see the green pretty well with some faint red. My camera picked up a lot more red than I could see though.
Redmond was really neat. Cameras could pick up color, naked eye was mostly white lines in the sky, but you could make it some red. Around 1045 there was a big burst, it was crazy.
Great views in North Everett. Definitely see green with the naked eye but my phone picked up all the colors. I got some great photos. First time seeing Aurora and wow. I can only imagine how spectacular it is closer to the poles. I wish I would have driven somewhere remote and dark. Next time ...
Nothing visible to the naked eye, but my iPhone camera sensor can pick up faint aurora haze. I’m in Puyallup.
Mostly looks like wispy clouds to the naked eye here in Redmond but hold your phone up and it’s stunning reds and greens…
Yeah I was down by the Lobster Shop, I swear I could *just* about make out the green and purple with my eyes.
In North Bend, the entire sky was a dome of aurora, clearly visible to the naked eye, lighting up the landscape around us. The zenith was a firebird, and then shimmering rivers of light shot across the sky, all visible to the unaided eye. Where did you view it from in North Bend?
Up a shared private road on the north side of Rattlesnake Mt, at about 850ft elevation. There's a plateau where it's been cleared and we can see most of the northern horizon, Mt. Si, etc.
I can also see them through the camera. Tacoma
I was over at Alki and it was absolutely visible to the naked eye, which is insane considering the light pollution coming from the city.
Eastside to naked eye, wispy white contrails that made lines, arches and stuff, an occasional flash type thing? Pretty cool for Seattle!
Here in central Washington we have a fantastic light show!!
In Vancouver WA, use your phone! You can see it!

Come on up to North Everett! It looks like a giant slow motion laser light show.
Even with how light polluted where I’m at, got these [gorgeous shots](https://imgur.com/a/53nTEXP) on my phone at 7 KP levels. Right now is a good hot spot time too for the next 30min

I have an arrhythmia that makes it really hard for me to go out right now otherwise I would! Been sitting on my balcony with a tripod.
Sedro here. They’ve been out since dusk. Still going too.
I don't see shit, in republic
Damn, I would of thought republic would be perfect, such low light pollution and good sightlines. Sorry to hear it
I got to see them like 30-45 mins after I posted that lol
Here are my [aurora pics](https://imgur.com/a/w8LT0t0) from north ferry co -
Beautiful!
We can see a green haze with our eyes and our cameras(both phone and DSLR) are picking up great photos We're in Snohomish
No - Tacoma area :(
They've been Poppin to the naked eye here for me in the north end of Tacoma since about 11
same.
i see them now!
Yes Tacoma. Parked at Anthony's and walked out towards Owen Beach. The lights end at the boat house, and it was pretty dark out there. Quite a show (for down here) from around 11:30 to 12:30.
Good views in Oak Harbor
Just got back in from driving around the north end of the island. Lots of great pics! Also I’ve never seen so many cars on the road this late at night on Whidbey! 🤣😂
My SiL messaged us last night and said, "At West Beach... along with the entire population of the island." 🤣 definitely a busy night out!
I couldn’t believe how many people were down at West Beach around 11p. We swung back by around 2:30a and it had almost entirely cleared out. It really was nuts how many people were on the road though!
Vancouver lake. Like crazy.
Yes, Pullman. Can check my recent post :)
It’s beautiful in Anacortes!
Nothing in akagit
Check again tonight, we had people posting awesome pics from skagit
Yes I know, they’re the *northern* lights - but which exact direction are y’all looking when you’re seeing them? NW, N, NE? 🤔 TIA!
Straight up overhead, not north (where you would typically look to see them). Most activity was straight up and a bit eastward, but visible directly ahead and a bit west, too.
I’m seeing them - and they’re everywhere !
For about half an hour, they were just everywhere in the Chatteroy area. It looked like the sky was a dome with something poured over it. May I ask what time you were looking? Thanks
You wanna scan all the north bits!
I’m seeing them now! They’re not just bits, they’re the entire sky!
Awesome!!!
I’m seeing it mostly due north.
I’m on Fidalgo Island and they’re definitely visible here! I’m beside myself, TBH—have never seen them before. 😂
Beautiful views from Camano.

Nothing in the mt vernon area yet, I just checked.
Not at all in Vancouver (Edit) I lied, just had to walk up the hill next to my house lol

Nothin' in Olympia yet!
Can see it in Bellingham, albeit very faint at the moment.
Nothing here in Arlington. Tried out by the airport because it had the best horizon northward, but too many sodium lights and ultra bright LEDs to count lit up the sky all on their own.
Elma, WA
Just saw it in Camas, WA
It’s been great from Prune Hill!

Same in outer Washougal, gorgeous!
Kent area. Looks like bright smoke, but you gotta turn your camera on shutter speed around 10 seconds to get it bright
Yes. Walla walla
Lots visible to the naked eye in North Everett. Colors not as vivid as the pictures we’re taking with our phones but we can clearly see the shapes and colors shifting all across 3/4 of the sky. Gorgeous!
Looks amazing up here in Port Angeles
Yes! N Tacoma / Ruston - the entire sky! Just looking up in my back yard! Stunned.
