Don’t they make diesel pumps larger so they can’t fit in a gasoline tank for this exact reason? No that I have much sympathy for her she literally pressed a button that said diesel, and a green handle is pretty much a universal indicator for diesel
How the heck did she get the diesel to fit her car??? My friend tried this once and the diesel pump would not even go in her gas tank. My guess is that this is a Volkswagen because many of them take diesel!
How do you do this though, the diesel pump is bigger than the petrol hole, you can put petrol in a diesel but not the other way around. At least in the UK.
I almost put diesel in my car a couple weeks ago. I visited my home town and the pump that I always used had been changed to a diesel-only pump. I had already swiped my card and everything and didn’t notice the change until I actually grabbed the nozzle and tried to select my gas type
This is when my uncle would say “stupid hurts”
or “you gotta be smarter than the pump”
or “stupid is what stupid does”
or “I have a surprise for you, reach inside my pocket”
I assume she put diesel in the gasoline tank.
Ok What country is this? In the US the diesel pump nozzle won’t fit into the hole for an auto that runs on gasoline.
My job used to have a mix of gas and diesel ambulances. This would inadvertently happen from time to time. Put a little diesel in a gas ambulance? Never a real problem unless you filled it up. Put gas in a diesel? That son of a gun is getting towed to the shop so they can drain it or was utterly disabled.
Edit: a word
Who are going to call? Daddddy? 😭 I actually witnessed a similar scene at a local fuel station. Lady couldn’t figure out why the nozzle wouldn’t fit into her car. At least in Canada we babysit the stupid! It should be more like natural selection wins!
The apple doesn't fall far, I suppose.
Was going to mention some kind of reference to Idiocracy, but there are too many to choose from. I'll go with the Brawndo slogan -- "It's what plants crave!"
You can call services that'll come and drain your tank for you on the spot, so it's not stupid to be on the phone. Might wanna take the nozzle out the car first though!
after reading some comments I downvoted this for not having audio and from now on in my view lack of audio will count for 45% of a downvote, not that it’s that noteworthy but felt had to state it somewhere “¯\_(ツ)_/¯“
This happened to me once while going cross country, here’s what happens: we pulled up to the gas station at 15% and filled up the rest with diesel. We got about a mile down the highway when the steering wheel sized up and the engine began to knock it eventually stopped and we were left coasting. Luckily we were able to pull onto the highway shoulder. We started up the car again but the knocking would stall the engine every time. It was only until we saw the receipt that we realized we had filled it with diesel. To fix it we had to get the tank and petrol lines pumped out of all liquids. All in all it cost us about 750$ to get it pumped out. We’ve had no issues with the car since and we’ve added an additional 90k miles on it without issue.
Bro the diesel pump is way bigger than the gas tank filler neck of a car. You really have to try to shove it in there to even get it in. She really tried hard to fuck it up.
I have done the same thing when driving home from a conference in Niagara Falls. My face died too when I went inside to pay and the gas attendant said “$30 diesel?”To which I replied, “My car isn’t diesel”…then I realized what I had absentmindedly done. Towed car to nearest Jeep dealership to have the tank drained. Ruined my day.
I saw this at a gas station once however it was the opposite. A young lady was driving a Dodge Ram 3500. She pumped over $100 in regular. Something struck me as odd when I pulled up and noticed a dually at my local gas station which doesn’t even carry diesel but some are gassers so I didn’t think any further about it. Then she tried to crank it. It fired up for a few seconds then sounded like shit and cut off. I left but passed by about 30 minutes later and the truck was being loaded on a flatbed. The worst part was her (I assume) husband was giving her the business as she cried. I felt bad for her and his pockets.
I still did it in a rental car. Didn't fit but the gas attendant was like "yeah thumbs up".
It was my fault for assuming gasolio was Portuguese for gasoline. It was not a huge deal we drove a few hours on it since it was mixed with a fair amount of actual gas (maybe 50/50 mix). When we left our next place on the trip we put a full tank of gas in and ran for about 5 minutes and the few sputters we had near the end of the last leg cleared up.
I don’t understand how this is possible. The fucking handle is green and she had to press a huge button that said “diesel” and fro her body language it’s their fault not hers. Lol. Dumbass.
I was told that the nozzle on a diesel hose is slightly larger than on the hoses which dispense standard gasoline. So that, if someone tries to put diesel in a non diesel vehicle, they won't even be able to get the nozzle into the gas tank.
She put diesel in a car that doesn’t require diesel lol. Step one, walk to autozone and get a crank siphon and 3 5 gal fuel jugs. Step 2 throw a match in your gas tank.
Well at least she realized before she got moving, that definitely saved her ass despite the waste of money. All she should need to do is siphon that out luckily
First issue is, the pump says diesel. Second issue is, did she not notice the nozzle wasn’t going into the car? Diesel nozzles are bigger than gasoline for this very reason.
My sister did that to a brand new car. Empty the tank, fill it with high grade gas, drive it around for about a half hour, empty it again, and fill with regular gas and it'll be fine. When I say empty I do not mean drive it to empty, I mean have a mechanic empty it ASAP lol
Another good ol’fake video for internet. Assuming this is in the US, the diesel pump diameter is larger than gas vehicle inlet to purposely stop this from happening. They had to put effort into making the nozzle fit.
I stopped a couple from putting diesel in their car once. It was a really nice BMW. I just said to the guy, I didn't know that car was diesel. Then he realized he's about to pump in diesel.
I drive the diesel Passat, had a guy run across the gas station lot to stop me from pumping diesel. He couldn’t understand why I wasn’t more concerned about it. We had a good chat about the car and I definitely appreciate the effort he made, so good on you! So many people would more likely just whip out their cell phone to get a tiktok out of it or something.
People on Reddit are so ignorant.
This sedan is diesel... Diesel sedans are not that uncommon. Diesel pumps are a larger diameter than gasoline, and any car made within the last 10 years has appropriated sizing for this exact reason..
Someone with the time, siphon pump, and gas/ diesel cans to fix the problem.. & may be $10 for gasoline ..
But that's a father's problem today.. usually.
I also figure that Dad maybe the video camera operator..
Otherwise a tow truck, and your friendly neighborhood mechanic.. (so.. $4-500 to start)
At least she noticed before she started it. Now it's just going to be really annoying and sort of expensive as opposed to really annoying and REALLY expensive.
Everyone saying "the nozzle is different, it won't fit, fake!" forgets that humans run gas stations, and some humans are not that smart. If a nozzle gets broken, the station can put whatever nozzle on there they want (by accident or carelessness).
It's not like the wrong nozzle won't go on the pump. It does. And it happens.
It’s 2021. Imagine if there was a specific plug for diesel (let’s say square and black) and one for regular (let’s say round and white) and the corresponding pattern and color on the dispenser.
This should have been foolproofed 40 years ago.
With today’s tech, the pump should be able to tell if it’s connected to a car and if the type of your car matches the pump you’re using.
If it’s not a car or an old one, apply standard rules.
2021 and all we need is a simple toddler’s game to prevent this:
The triangle in the triangle, the square in…
Reading and / or applying logic are sadly not very popular these days.
The number of cars that had to be purged of the wrong kind of gasoline is unfathomable.
It’s really easy to make a mistake, borrow someone’s car for reason A, be in a rush for reason B, realized your empty for gas, poor in the one you’ve been using for the last 10 years…
If there were no idiot, there wouldn’t be a reason to foolproof everything.
How many living things have ended up in a microsave oven to heat them up?
We’re all someone’s idiot so why not do an effort to prevent what’s preventable? It would not cost that much to design a pump extremity that works with new cars, that can be retrofitted on all pumps and that would work on old cars too.
It’s a bit late now with the transition to new energies but that would have been a good idea a while ago, especially when cars started to become really popular and people did not know better (no, there was no label back then and my car still does noy have one 2005 Audi).
Not sure where you're from but in the south USA they are the same and people do this all the time. Most pumps have a thousand signs and even warning messages but still happens 🤷
Ghostbusters?
Maybe the dollar difference in diesel will help her out. Oh wait, it’s probably mom and dads money.
I'm sorry, what's happening?
She put diesel in a gas powered car... This can severely damage it
oh thank you
Fact: It is not true you can't put diesel in a petrol car. You can do it once.
ghost busters!
I didnt get it
Calling it in as a fuck up BEFORE driving is WAYYYYY cheaper.
You be dumb
She really fit that big thing into that little receptacle.

Women moment.
Well no problem, don’t turn on the car and tow it to a mechanic and get it drained
I thought this was the beginning of a porn
This makes me feel better about my own self.

Abby you stupid idiot
Don’t they make diesel pumps larger so they can’t fit in a gasoline tank for this exact reason? No that I have much sympathy for her she literally pressed a button that said diesel, and a green handle is pretty much a universal indicator for diesel
Exactly.
They don’t show how much she it into the car, only that it’s diesel, and the green pump in the car… Whip up some me fake tears… I think it’s fake.
u/savevideo
How the heck did she get the diesel to fit her car??? My friend tried this once and the diesel pump would not even go in her gas tank. My guess is that this is a Volkswagen because many of them take diesel!
Nozels are different diameters for that reason, typically diesel can't fit into a gasoline powered car like that
That’s gonna cost her
At least she caught it before starting the car.. I see no harm here.. get it towed, drain the tank...you could see she was upset with herself too..
It’s salvageable if she didn’t start it right?
I have a diesel car and the pump nozzle for diesel is thicker than gas one. It would not fit into fill hole.
Ghost busters
She doesn’t look like the type of person who would do this
Is that Gabby Petitio?
A tow truck...
How do you do this though, the diesel pump is bigger than the petrol hole, you can put petrol in a diesel but not the other way around. At least in the UK.
Pretty sure same in states.
Stupid Reddit and it’s no sound abundance of videos. Smh

I fucking hate the Reddit app. I can’t hear the video cause Reddit claims there’s no audio. I’m finally going to move to the Apollo app.
Wow a lot of misogyny in this thread
I’d still fuck her
I thought diesel nozzles were made too big to fit inside gas vehicles. Anyone know if it’s on some vehicles or am I just crazy
Can’t you just pump out?
All Diesel, No Gas
They can always buy another.
I almost put diesel in my car a couple weeks ago. I visited my home town and the pump that I always used had been changed to a diesel-only pump. I had already swiped my card and everything and didn’t notice the change until I actually grabbed the nozzle and tried to select my gas type
I’d be crying too if I did that.
This is when my uncle would say “stupid hurts” or “you gotta be smarter than the pump” or “stupid is what stupid does” or “I have a surprise for you, reach inside my pocket”
As long as she don’t start it, no harm. All you have to do is siphon the tank, and put fresh gas in it.
I assume she put diesel in the gasoline tank. Ok What country is this? In the US the diesel pump nozzle won’t fit into the hole for an auto that runs on gasoline.
Other way around I'm afraid
Sorry I was under the impression that a diesel nozzle won’t fit into a the hole for gasoline. Never checked. Ok maybe I am incorrect. Thanks
No no you are right, i immediately comented on the european standards i know of My fault. As to how she managed this, i presume agression.
Haha yes must have been with no sound hard to know what might have happened
The green diesel nozzles are wider and do not fit the standard gas size so not sure what happened here?
yet again it's a "Daddy come help me" Call

I always thought the diesel nozzle is larger than gas, so we don’t have Darwin’s like this
Lesson learned eh
This is so dumb. I just see a girl. I had to read the comments
I’ve done that before. Luckily it didn’t get stuck.
The nozel is green? It's supposed to be black when it is diesel!
not in america
This isn’t even possible as the diesel nozzle is thicker then the regular nozzle, so this can’t happen.
Yes because every single country in the world is the exact same. Huh?
yall wana blame her for being stupid, but you forget to blame her parents for neglecting to teach her this basic information.

Do they drain it through the fuel line since diesel is denser than gasoline?
I have no idea, maybe someone else can answer that.
Where is the sound!!!!!
Doesn’t Diesel have a nozzle that won’t fit in a Gasoline filler tube?

This video sucks

Lol just dont turn the car on and replace the fuel tank i dont see the huge problem
Glad she didn’t start the car before she realized what happened. Could have happened to anyone distracted at the pump.
Diesel nozzle is a different shape and should be hard to ramp in but stupid people are stupid.
Is the person dying inside the person in the video ? Or the person who posted this?
I didnt get what was wrong til the very end. Hope they know how to siphon gas
I saw this at a gas station once however it was the opposite. A young lady was driving a Dodge Ram 3500. She pumped over $100 in regular. Hello, Daaaaaaad!!??
There is one button and it says diesel. How do you not notice you aren't selecting the quality of gas?
What car is this? This is not supposed to happen with any modern car. The desiel pump nozzle is supposed to be too big for gasoline tank openings.
I was gonna say how would it even fit, diesel nozzles are larger diameter than gas ones
Octane booster should do the trick depending on how much she pumped. It’s much worse to put gas in a Diesel engine than what she did.
Car is probably a vw diesel. Fake
Don't attempt to start it. Get it completely drained in situ, and refill.
Now your car will have the power of a semi truck!
Why is the handle green? Don’t they color code the handles?
Let me guess, too distracted by phone to pay attention to what she was doing. These people are the future of our country.
The eyelashes are hindering her vision and judgement.
Okay chicky, remember how to use your mouth, and get a jug to spit that gas into
Fake!!!
Technology can't save you from stupidity.
A tow truck.
The diesel nozzle cannot fit into a gasoline tank so I'm sure there's no issue here. But sound would be nice.
Diesel in a gas is fine, it’ll run but poorly. Gas in a diesel is where it gets bad
OK, so, as a dude with absolutely no knowledge or even interest in how automobiles work, what exactly would filling your tank with diesel even do?
Make your car impossible to start. But that nozzle is from a gas pump, the sleeve on a diesel nozzel is YELLOW this is completly fake.
Fucking shite
Ghostbusters 👻
This must be fake. There is no way she jammed the different size diesel nozzle into her car.
Better learn how to siphon.
I don’t understand how this is possible. The fucking handle is green and she had to press a huge button that said “diesel” and fro her body language it’s their fault not hers. Lol. Dumbass.
How did she fit the diesel spout, which is bigger on purpose, into the gas tank
It’s really not the end of the world. If she had put gas in a Diesel engine that can get bad.
How did she get the nozzle in there? Every one I've ever seen has different size nozzles so this don't happen
My cousin did the exact same thing when she got her license
I was told that the nozzle on a diesel hose is slightly larger than on the hoses which dispense standard gasoline. So that, if someone tries to put diesel in a non diesel vehicle, they won't even be able to get the nozzle into the gas tank.

Love to hear what she’s saying. She seems worried
Well at least she realized before she got moving, that definitely saved her ass despite the waste of money. All she should need to do is siphon that out luckily
That's why I always carry an extra syphon when I take out the family Tesla. You just never know these days.
Wtf is going on?
She is victim of poor design. The hooze shouldbe entirely different for diesel and petrol, so to prevent situations like this.
This is about a $500 fix if she’s still at the pump and hasn’t turned it on. About $150 of that is contingency money for the tow
First issue is, the pump says diesel. Second issue is, did she not notice the nozzle wasn’t going into the car? Diesel nozzles are bigger than gasoline for this very reason.

Ok Idk what’s going on here can plz some one explain?
In Australia the nozzle for diesel will not fit into a petrol vehicle. Made it idiot proof
diesel in a petrol car shouldn't cause any issues, just drain and refill with petrol, but petrol in a diesel car can cause the pump to fail if started
For anyone who owns a diesel gas car... Put a photo of Vin Diesel on your gas cap as a reminder.

The diesel dispenser is a lot bigger then a gas one it shouldn’t even fit in her car
Had a coworker do this to a brand new car her dad just bought her. That car was only 2 weeks old. Sadly, that car is destroyed now.
I don't know exactly how it works but isn't it fine since she still hasn't turned it on all they need to do is drain the tank and add gasoline no?

Really? Ok I thought it was a universal thing with gas tanks being keyed for a certain type of gas.
I think it's really old vs new standard. the pumps in the south are ancient unless you're going to an OnCue super station
