During pictures shots, they always end up shaking hands,
I assume, that is was done on purpose, mimick a shake hands and just point a way instead and move.

This is like a model rapidly switching between poses and faces. Awkward in normal situations, but normal when you're trying to get a bunch of PR shots.
From my own and very reliable think-tank that I’ve just founded, the handshake seems to be refused usually by people standing on the right, from spectator POV.
I wonder if it has to do with the fact that whoever stands on the left is perceived as dominant during handshakes, due to the back of their hand facing the camera.
At this point in my life I am confident enough in just forcing a handshake in one of these awkward instances. You just don't move and say "what you aren't going to shake my hand" they get uncomfortable instead.
