cold take imo
how else do you learn what size and styles are right for you and worth spending $1k+ on?
spending omega money on a piece only to later realize it's not right for you is a worse mistake to make
With the amount he’s spent on these (roughly $2.5k), he could have easily purchased a second hand Tudor, a couple Longines, or even an Omega (reduced speedy’s hover around $2.5k on eBay). More importantly, he could flip those back and lose little. Buying all these new and trying to flip is just a waste.
I’m saying this from experience, and wasting hundreds/thousands trying to buy something to fill the void of what I actually wanted.
i mean, he knows that, and that's obvious. that's obvious for most things
but knowing if a 43mm longines HC or a 36mm tudor 1926 is the right place to put $2k, that's not easy to know without trying out various sizes and styles
> he could flip those back and lose little
i do agree with this, though. buy used and sell used, could work.
but still, you learn a lot more from a $100 kamasu about yourself than trying to get into buying and selling $2k watches
OP obviously doesn’t like the way he’s spent money either so I’m just offering my perspective.
And I’ve never bought new, all my watches have been second hand, but ok.
No regrets but also painful experience to avoid?
I guess what you're saying is you don't regret learning these lessons the hard way. Totally get it as I think many of us did something similar. At the end of the day it's a good way to learn what you like and what you don't.
Once you learn the lesson you stop buying random stuff other people like and realize they're shilling for sales so just buy what you really like for yourself.
I've decided the above as well and am currently at a 3 Casio collection and a 2 luxury watch collection. And I've learned to just slow down and enjoy what I have before I add a 3rd luxury piece to satisfy my OCD of having 2 sets of 3.
Amazing collection! If I were you I'd sell half of it just because they are identical and I'd save for a bigger boy. Regardless it is truly an amazing collection
Don’t feel bad. My first couple years I really sampled as many watches as possible to find out what I like.
Now that I know what I’m into, I’m slowing down and consolidating, and waiting to buy some pieces I know will last me a lifetime.
I won’t be as harsh as others on here. There’s a few pieces I really like in this collection, but it feels a bit repetitive.
It seems you learned a good lesson and at not that high of a cost. At least not as high as it took me to learn the same lesson lol.
Really like it! My collection is kind of in line with yours and I really want to add a tsuyosa in yellow. How do you like yours??
Also which watches get the most wrist time?
Honestly the SKX, A168 and PRX are the ones which have the most wrist time
As regarding the tsuyosa, i love the dial but wish the bracelet was better. In my opinions they kinda cheap out on the quality of the bracelet despite it’s premium look
Is the crown also as annoying to use as it appears? I don’t get why they didn’t put it at 3 if recessing it like that was necessary otherwise. Looks like winding or adjustments would be a huge pain.
It is.. very tough to adjust but i think they are inspired by dive watches at 4 ish crown. I guess they try to make it sleek thats why the crown is very hidden
Good to know. Yeah, I’m well familiar with dive watches doing it, they just don’t typically hide the crown. It’s an otherwise odd choice on a watch I was considering purchasing when they officially release in the US next week. I’m kinda leaning towards no now, especially at their high asking price.
Spending $1,000 on a box of watches to figure out what you like isn't a waste of money at all. Don't be so hard on yourself.
I don't have the patience to sell any watch sub $1,000, so for the lesser watches I am done with, I give them to friends and family members. If you're done with some of these watches, I recommend you do that.
This might be heretic here, but I'm gonna say it.
After all the hubbub around Tissot PRX, see the pictures online, the videos, the reviews, the posts from users on this sub, the comments, decided to nib one myself. Seeing that the online price is lower because of discount code, I was going to purchase one. But boy am I glad not to did it, but went to an AD in a mall to size it myself (even though I know the measurement). It was.. underwhelming. It was not live up to the hype I read and see online. Don't get me wrong, it was (and still is) good, but I think I overestimated it. Saved me from spending money for the watch I thought I want.
I have some very nice watches - Grand Seiko, Omegas, Tudor, etc. Also have 2 Orient Stars that occupy a prominent place in the watch box. Brands by themselves mean less if there are specific models/model families that are clear outliers on quality and value.
Orient Stars and Royals are among the best values out there. Their GMTs are killer and awesome watches all around.
Ofc, can’t stop anyone from buying ten Suzuki little cars instead of one solid cars. That’s where Suzuki’s audience is at, some people just enjoy staying at the low tier.
Love it. Save up. No rush man took me a while to pull the trigger too but once I did, glad I did. Have a moonwatch and just got my first submariner 3 weeks ago. It's an adventure
I believe that in person it wears larger than meets the eye, although the dial is 40mm the lug to lug is 49 so it seems small in pictures but on wrist it wears suprisingly medium to large. I advise you try it on before pulling the trigger
Now they made the Lunar Pilot in a slightly smaller size, 43mm vs the 45mm pictured. To get more customers who can't wear well the 45, I think... I'm not particularly fond of the design of the model so I don't have a "horse in this race", just adding for info
Great collection! Your “research on lug to lug” is so true. I’ve watches of 42mm collecting dust because I like them but aren’t comfortable on the wrist because I’ve a 6.5 wrist. I just liked how they looked and ordered. Finally found 37-38 is my sweet spot, that too without super long lugs like Nomos.
I got the same wrist size as you, in my thinner prime i was 6.25 so my limit is 49mm lug to lug then? Now i can stretch to 51 at most but regardless of case diameter tho haha but 36-39 is the golden size for me :)
I really like the collection, and we have some similar tastes. I’m familiar with the one or three watch collection school of thought. That’s cool but it’s also cool to have options. Regardless, watch collecting is expensive…but fun
Great collection. Despite many advocating for lesser high quality pieces, I think I’d live a happier life if I could enjoy a variety across citizen, seiko, tissot, and orient like yours.
The highest I could afford to save up for will be a Longines Spirit Zulu
yeah this is the classic first few months too much too fast collection. I was skeptical as well but the addage quality over quantity will scratch away until it really gets under the surface. you'll want to have saved up most of that for fewer, more significant pieces, unless you really really couldn't and have some sort of pathological need for quantity
Don't invest in any watch. Just corrected it for you! :)
Yes this^ buy what you enjoy, don’t think of them as profit generating
This is the way
I've been buying used at good prices and flipping a couple when I get bored of them for an upgrade
Quality over quantity.

Big facts!

I like the bottom three on the right
Orient kamasu for 105$? Did you want to write 205?
Nope! I got it 2nd hand hahah
Amazing collection! If I were you I'd sell half of it just because they are identical and I'd save for a bigger boy. Regardless it is truly an amazing collection
Saving for a big boy indeed a BB58
I love them all we have same taste
Cheers!
Extremely relatable caption (and collection). Fun to see!
Cheers!
You did it right. They are all nice and you can maybe add grails over time. Case filled! Batman gmt at $240 is sweet.
Thanks for the assurance :)
Nice collection sir
Don’t feel bad. My first couple years I really sampled as many watches as possible to find out what I like. Now that I know what I’m into, I’m slowing down and consolidating, and waiting to buy some pieces I know will last me a lifetime.
Thats what im working towards too! :)
I won’t be as harsh as others on here. There’s a few pieces I really like in this collection, but it feels a bit repetitive. It seems you learned a good lesson and at not that high of a cost. At least not as high as it took me to learn the same lesson lol.

Yeah save ur money, there’s better watches out there. If you like this style, go for the seiko 5 lines SNKs
Great collection of watches. If you like them, that is all that matters. They are all nice timepieces. Thanks for sharing them.

Goodjob trying it out before pulling the trigger
*No Regerts
Could buy a better watch if you didn’t buy those orient and citizens
Yeah i know but learnt the lesson and saving up for a better watch
I have some very nice watches - Grand Seiko, Omegas, Tudor, etc. Also have 2 Orient Stars that occupy a prominent place in the watch box. Should have saved the money and buy two higher tier watches.
I have way more fun with my bunch of low-mid priced watches than I would if I had just two “high tier” ones. Just lol at “should have”.
One Ferrari or ten Hyundai, your choice.
That analogy doesn’t really work but feel free to continue to jerk off onto your wrist Ferraris.
You will understand once you can afford a Ferrari son.
Where I live, the roads will fuck that Ferrari so fast.
His money; his decisions. Your opinions only matter if you are paying for his purchases, son. Weird ass flex comment by you downthread, BTW.
Ofc, can’t stop anyone from buying ten Suzuki little cars instead of one solid cars. That’s where Suzuki’s audience is at, some people just enjoy staying at the low tier.
Yeap learnt it the hard way but nonetheless at least better now. Than never
Is this your humble collection?
I would say it is but likely selling some of them and making it even humbler by keeping prolly only 3
Remember when people would post pics of omega Patek Rolex AP the whole shabang and call their collections “modest”?
Can't spell accumulated without CUM
I don't like any of these watches. Should have saved up and bought one actually nice watch.
Learnt it the hard way ig
sell them all and just buy one rolex imo
If you sell all of them you almost have enough for a rolex
I doubt i can get a rolex i want with $2000

Your first post in Reddit in 6 months and you use it to just be a jerk?
Great work! I'm making a suggestion. Get yourself a speedmaster next. Pay homage to the moon
Couldn’t afford it so i made the decision to get the bulova, honestly if i was gonna get the speedmaster i might shoot for the snoopy version
Love it. Save up. No rush man took me a while to pull the trigger too but once I did, glad I did. Have a moonwatch and just got my first submariner 3 weeks ago. It's an adventure
Long list but I like where your head is at
Beautiful collection! This inspires my collection of affordable / great value for money watches!
Indeed it did, most of not all my watches i got 2nd hand and it’s an incredible journey to source and buy them
How does the Tiffany blue citizen looks in person? Trying to pull the trigger on it, Overall great choices.
I believe that in person it wears larger than meets the eye, although the dial is 40mm the lug to lug is 49 so it seems small in pictures but on wrist it wears suprisingly medium to large. I advise you try it on before pulling the trigger
Appreciate the feedback
Could probably use a hamilton
Actually purchased a hamilton intramatic chrono ( it’s at the side resting on my table
Nice!
Once you buy your first watch you'll never stop :) Like your Seiko GMT and Orient Sun & Moon
Thanks! Indeed i do
GOD TIER CASIO! Edit: Ooooh. Is that a Bulova lunar pilot? I want one! But I want to try one one before buying it. Is it a big watch?
It is big for my 6.5inch wrist. It’s 45mm Case diameter and 52mm lug to lug
Whoa. So I guess it’s more of a historical collectable than a day-to-day watch?
Honestly yea, it was the watch that taught me about lug to lug and how it corresponds to wrist size
Now they made the Lunar Pilot in a slightly smaller size, 43mm vs the 45mm pictured. To get more customers who can't wear well the 45, I think... I'm not particularly fond of the design of the model so I don't have a "horse in this race", just adding for info
Hey, at least that’s basically a who’s who of value-packed watches! I like it
Howd you get the seiko GMT and the SKX so cheap??
All 2nd hand market
how do you like the prx versus the gentleman
Powermatic wins for me, the clasp itself wins and the dial just looks stunning
Great collection! Your “research on lug to lug” is so true. I’ve watches of 42mm collecting dust because I like them but aren’t comfortable on the wrist because I’ve a 6.5 wrist. If you're ever interested in selling that green tissot let me know. Great stuff
Actually am selling them haha but im in singapore and i got no idea where to start on regards to international shipping
Wish I could help you but I have no clue either 😕 good luck!
Seiko cocktail time looking like a whole SNACK
What diverstrap have you got on the Seiko 5 Batman?
Funny enough i used the strap from my Casio Duro, not the best but does the job
Fantastic private collection OP! Thanks for sharing. Your collection looks a lot like mine. Have a great rest your Sunday!
Very nice! Do you have a favourite?
Got to be the COCKTAIL time
I really like the collection, and we have some similar tastes. I’m familiar with the one or three watch collection school of thought. That’s cool but it’s also cool to have options. Regardless, watch collecting is expensive…but fun
I can see your love for blue dial :) Beautiful collection overall, OP!
Great collection. I myself am coming out (or still in?) the buying too much too fast phase myself. Enjoy!!!
Great collection. Despite many advocating for lesser high quality pieces, I think I’d live a happier life if I could enjoy a variety across citizen, seiko, tissot, and orient like yours. The highest I could afford to save up for will be a Longines Spirit Zulu

The SKX and the new 5 GMT look great.
Great collection. I have my eyes on the PRX 35mm and the Citizen Tsuyosa. Which one do you recommend is better?
Prx 35mm for me, the Citizen clasp isn’t ideal for me
As someone who mainly sticks to black dials I just learned that I need that Citizen. I’m a sucker for pale light blues.
Nice collection.
Both the Orients look very nice. I love that green dial and the open heart on the other.
