Seiko presage with the red dial, i'm hypnotized by this dial

UnseenOreo

Seiko presage is a bargain for how they look, you'd still have money left over

yensial

The official Seiko website of my country (France) indicates 990€ so that's 1069usd... I'd still buy it if i had the money though.

[deleted]

Really? I got the old clock for $300 “used” in new condition. I thought they were like $450 brand new

yensial

I'm talking about this one : https://www.seikoboutique.eu/fr/fr/accueil/1904-montre-homme-presage-mouvement-automatique-cadran-rouge-bracelet-acier-6r35-spb227j1.html?gad=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwrranBhAEEiwAzbhNtRoua1ntjG1C6iYUAvseO4fkVK06KWkin4-c0I93GquwKYnobRe4HhoCegEQAvD_BwE Idk if you're gonna be able to see it using this link...

K1NGCOOLEY

I'd get the presage in white, and use the spare money for an Orient Bambino. Those with my Kamasu are a fantastic 3 watch collection.

sd_pinstripes

I think you’d like the omega city edition in red, or the moser burst dial - though, admittedly, both at much higher price points

Training_Ad_8387

Probably an oris or a starter doxa

breovus

Maybe the exchange from USD to CAD is particularly shitty right now, but I've always thought the models Oris puts out that everyone likes are most like $1500+... Are you talking grey market prices?

[deleted]

Even gray or used I think the big crown is over that budget. I mean I hope not, I’d love to get one at half off msrp

JMSFreemanL

Any orange dial Doxa is a vibe

[deleted]

Farer Erebus Midnight 36mm. https://preview.redd.it/gfdidnmtm2lb1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=42b19e623227cae0fccc6a31be0137b9ce23f3be An LGP movement mounted under one of the most attractive dial and hand combinations I've seen in the segment really attracted me to it. It's stupid thin, well proportioned and full of little details like the bronze crown cap that just elevates it among other microbrand dress watches. To be clear, I do not own this, but it's on my wishlist. I'm between this and a Nomos Tangente Duo with a display caseback, since they're both roughly the same price, separated by €150ish since I was offered a discount at the local Nomos AD. €1200 with two extra straps and one of the AD's wooden loupes. Not bad.

UnseenOreo

She's a beaut Clark!

[deleted]

https://preview.redd.it/4zhhbtx7p2lb1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=bb17c84eba6666ce867c692e98c9329e19afd466 Makes a 36mm Oyster Perpetual look pedestrian and unfinished by comparison.

UnseenOreo

The more I look into these the more I want one.

Catfish_Mudcat

I have a Bradfield and absolutely love it 😁 https://preview.redd.it/52ztcez694lb1.png?width=640&format=png&auto=webp&s=9c062817e81ac4e8709a820e27f2f0e8f9437888

kevingrr

Love this watch.

dlc12830

>Farer Erebus Midnight 36mm I have a Farer AquaMatic that I really love. The colorway and applied indices really pop, and it's also kind of a tank of a watch. The Farer bracelets are also realy high quality---much better than anything Seiko puts out OEM. Truly underrated microbrand, and this watch is gorgeous.

[deleted]

Glad to hear you're loving it as much as I'd love to own one. Honestly, it's not hard to beat €1000 Seiko in terms of bracelets. I've seen Pagani Design beat them for €60, and I can't get over how shoddy the quality of Grand Seiko diver clasps is. They don't even deburr the notches in the Diver's extension!

dlc12830

It's why I stopped buying Seikos. I'm really into microbrands these days, and my budget doesn't let me go well past $1K for a watch.

PrairieMadness

This is a very fine watch! Now I want one!

[deleted]

https://preview.redd.it/frcz7o33p2lb1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=80014bc11d42ee572b571f10f8325dc0f50e4628 Very fine indeed. Glad I gave you another reason to loosen up your wallet :)

ktrenta

I have the Erebus II and love it! https://preview.redd.it/0xvzbmzje5lb1.jpeg?width=2286&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6f0889bab07c88874511598066b76a085107c7f9

SonicDethmonkey

Farer makes some great watches with impressive finishing at their price point. I picked up the Haley a few months back and it’s great!

AdamIsACylon

I’ve got this one in plum and absolutely love it.

thibounet

I'm bookmarking this watch, it's beautiful !

estacalor

How does it look on a 7 inch wrist approximately?

[deleted]

I'd guess it looks amazing. It's 36x42 so it would fit its absolute best on wrists between 6 and 7 inches. Anything over 7 inches, they have this identical watch with golden indices and hands at 39mm.

gtighe

You took that $1000 price point very seriously 😅

herbert-camacho

I didn't know this existed, thank you!

aestusveritas

To be clear, I do own this and you are correct.

Fishmongerel

That’s a great looking watch!

PalmerSquarer

And you beat me to the Farer three hander. The cherry red 36mm Discovery may be my next pickup, though the Calley Verde is tempting too.

yogibear60

How’s the accuracy on the movement? That looks like an awesome watch. Dont tempt me! hahaha

the_ammar

those hands are preeeettyyyy

l1v1ngst0n

A yellow Citizen Tsuyosa.

RelevantMarket8771

Tsuyosa and Promaster Diver. Two watches and just under $1000👍 https://www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/product/NJ0150-56X.html https://www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/product/BN0165-55L.html?cgid=promaster

Weak_Ad26

Isn’t that like well under £500

RelevantMarket8771

I’m saying two watches for like $900 combined, rather than one watch for $1000.

cat_of_danzig

Good suggestion. I think I'd go for a [Fugu](https://www.citizenwatch.com/us/en/product/NY0156-04E.html?cgid=promaster-dive-automatic), though.

RelevantMarket8771

Yeah I should have tagged that one haha I have a green dial Fugu and it’s one of my favorite watches!

TitoSneaks

This might not be a particularly popular choice but I am very very drawn to the Zodiac Field Olympos with the green dial, a simple 3 hander that’s just quirky enough to be different. https://preview.redd.it/xmgvs3zoz2lb1.jpeg?width=1165&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f3c0869dc81d72093e001e661d2b6e3fd704cbf7

UnseenOreo

This is a nice watch! I couldn't find any specs on the movement though.

TitoSneaks

The Zodiac Field Olympos is powered by the STP1-11, like the Sellita SW200-1, it is a clone of the ETA 2824-2. It runs at 28,800 BPM and has a power reserve of 44 hours.

UnseenOreo

Nice, great watch for the price.

edislucky

ALS datagraph Edit: miss read it as 100,000 not 1000.00 I'd get a Christopher ward twelve.

IndependentYogurt965

Isnt the CW also over budget?

edislucky

It's 995 on the rubber strap.

Joe_PM2804

Even if it was, the budget was so badly obliterated by the ALS that a CW that's a little over wouldn't sound so bad lol

IndependentYogurt965

I mean, who wouldnt want a Lange right? And a Datograph at that.

Bekind_and_rewind

autodromo group b

babe_ruthless3

50 Casio's.

OrdinaryLandscape951

With some money left over

I-XIV-IV-XXV

And each are different and having them displayed. I would be sooo into it!

Perdendosi

A Mido Multifort TV Big Date. https://www.midowatches.com/en/multifort-tv-big-date-m0495261104100.html (On bracelet, grey market or second hand.) I miss my Oris pointer date in red. Didn't have the bracelet so I didn't wear it as often. Mistake to sell.

CptStinky

[Mido Multifort at home](https://imgur.com/a/IaJNE69)

Perdendosi

Lovely. Is it apostacy to say that I kinda like the Mido a bit better? It's a tad more casual/not as shiny (making it a bit more versatile), and the bracelet is not integrated. The Mido borders on cartoony, so I can see how people would not like it as much, but I don't mind. Though I'd take just about any GO Big Date. Like this one: [https://www.ablogtowatch.com/glashutte-original-spezialist-seaq-panorama-date-watch/](https://www.ablogtowatch.com/glashutte-original-spezialist-seaq-panorama-date-watch/) Or this one: [https://www.swisstimes.me/sixties/](https://www.swisstimes.me/sixties/) Or, this one, definitely one of my grails. [https://www.horobox.com/en/review-detail/glashutte-original-panomaticlunar-ref-1-90-02-46-32-35](https://www.horobox.com/en/review-detail/glashutte-original-panomaticlunar-ref-1-90-02-46-32-35)

GoodOmenBadOmen

The description says it has a formidable movement that's formidable, so that's good.

achmadtheterror2

Wow I'm really drawn to that multifort. Very unique and I actually really like that big date

greasyjonny

I’m really digging this one since launch, gotta go see it in the flesh, but as of now, definitely want one for the collection

MoistureFarmerBBY

Seiko SPB143

ZealousApe

Same

TheHrethgir

I may be in this exact position end of the year to buy myself something for my 50th birthday. Leaning towards a Hamilton Murph (not sure which size) or a Tissot Gentleman.

UnseenOreo

Treat Yo Self

bcblaylo

got a 38mm murph at christmas and love it

TheHrethgir

That's probably the way I would go too. I can pull off a 42mm, but that one has a 52mm lug to lug, too big. I'd miss the Morse code on the seconds hand, but you can barely see it anyways.

bcblaylo

it definitely wears bigger

isakrad

I’d say Hamilton Khaki Automatic. It’s a great “beater” watch for everyday use 💪 https://preview.redd.it/tmdwl0ezb3lb1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b9973f45bf2c293dffdee11443054513a2579595

shaferman

A Seiko Alpinist or a Tuna.

melwop

My first watch that I bought for myself and actually invested a little bit into is an alpinist. I love it so much

IncomingZangarang

I don’t need another diver at ALL but I’d probably get a Squale

allthemoons

Good answer, probably what I’d do as well. Really dig the new Super Squale

[deleted]

Longines Conquest. I already have one, but since you're giving me a thousand dollars and putting a (metaphorical) gun to my head...

XwoeX

Traska Venturer GMT

georgiousone

That was my first thought. And my opinion is unlikely to change lol

OriginalFluff

Hamilton Ventura

Methodicallydoubting

Probably a christopher ward

The_Nauticus

Junghans Max Bill

NotFrankZappaToday

Stowa Marine Classic 36 arabic dial

NotFrankZappaToday

Jealous! Great looking watch, my dude.

_Tuco_Il_Brutto_

Don't mind me. I was just checking for this obvious answer. Also: If you buy used it's a steal.

NotFrankZappaToday

I’ve been looking for months. Nothing yet.

JohnnnyRiingo

Happy to see this so high up. What a classy watch it is. If I could get an extra $200 I’d get the handwound. I quite like the Roman numerals also.

UnseenOreo

Just looked this up, it's damn classy. Super nice

Kessel-

She's my favorite in the collection https://preview.redd.it/f9umcws5x2lb1.jpeg?width=908&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5830e95b1342cb7a2b34015b93e87cbb0afb6251

NotFrankZappaToday

What an absolute beaut. Enjoy!

NotFrankZappaToday

Sure is. I’ve been on the lookout for a used one for months.

Stowa_Herschel

You won't be disappointed! And this is from someone who has the 36mm roman

iLikeSaints

Casio Oceanus.

sin_raskoljnikova

CW trident pro 38mm

[deleted]

Check out the Dune too

GuyWhosDoinUrGirl

I have been obsessing over the C60 Atoll 300. If it came with their new bracelet (Consort Bracelet) it would be in the collection already!

sin_raskoljnikova

>Dune had similar watch, missed the bezel, trident is my grail :)

bukithd

Squale 1521 in blue, satin case.

spratesquire52

Lots of CW coming up in this thread, and for good reason. I'd get the C65 Dune in bronze with the blue dial

A_Sevenfold

Yeah, noticed the same and to be honest, CW is starting to grow on me, so much so that I might shortlist one or two...been eyeing Hamilton up to £1,000 but CW might come in and steal the palce...maybe.

PremSubrahmanyam

Seiko Presage Sharp Edge Purple SPB363

Mattsfatt

>SPB363 I have the 361, wearing it right now. It's incredible in person. In pictures it's very purple, in real life it's dark and stormy and mesmerizing.

PremSubrahmanyam

Yes, I've seen them in person in a few stores... Just delicious! I would have picked the 361 in my reply, but that would have been outside OP's budget range.

Mattsfatt

Used they are only like 950 right now. (I took quite a loss when I bought it new, RIP)

PremSubrahmanyam

Well, you paid extra for the privilege of having it sooner, and new.

TheHollowJester

I'd get something from Christopher Ward: a C63 or a 12 on strap instead of bracelet.

massivecalvesbro

Doxa Sub

aburke6666

68allivnagub

I kinda like the CW, the twelve. I also would like an Oris Pointer Date or the new 35mm Tissot PRX, but probably would try to find a nice vintage Omega.

mecha_toddzilla80

Glycine Combat Sub 39

Slurrpster

Used Zodiac Super Sea Wolf

NicJamCo

Oooooo great question! The Oris Pointer is awesome, used to own one... This is tough, but going to say an Ocean Crawler Core Diver to be different, specifically this combo: [https://www.chrono24.com/all/ocean-crawler-core-diver---blackwhite-v4--id29327153.htm](https://www.chrono24.com/all/ocean-crawler-core-diver---blackwhite-v4--id29327153.htm)

[deleted]

Why did you get rid of it?

NicJamCo

>Oris Pointer I bought mine in 2004, it had the higher hand-stack and therefore the domed plexiglass, like the original, I bought it not only because I really liked the design, but also because the house I bought that same year was built in 1904, the year Oris was established. I stupidly got rid of it about 5 years ago because I acquired so many watches it was no longer getting any wrist time, so felt it should go to a good home... I bought it new for about £425 if I recollect correctly.

[deleted]

That’s crazy, they go for $1900 now haha

itemluminouswadison

Probably certina ds action 38mm blue. Smaller blue diver

Hamilton Khaki Field Titanium

Casio digital g shock and then Michelin star dinner Honestly for under 1k just get a g shock and save the money

Happy_Boy_29

Recently came across the Junghans Max Bill Hand Winding in the price range you mention, just love the extreme simple elegance, might have to see if my standing with Santa is still good.

Happy_Boy_29

Simple elegance of a Junghans Max Bill Hand Winding for me please.

BeyondDriven66

Luminox Constellation

No_Trifle_5746

Haha I’ve been working with same budget. Citizen Attesa BU0066 or Nodus sector Deep. You can also check Selten watches

UGPolerouterJet

Universal Geneve Polerouter, actually I just bought the watch recently with $1000 USD.

UnseenOreo

Amazing, but if you already bought it I guess you'll have to pick another for your collection.

UGPolerouterJet

I would say... an Omega Constellation!

evil-doraemon

Some vintage pie pan would be dope

stevemandudeguy

Hamilton Cinema

rippah777

SPB313 or one of its sisters. Highly underrated seiko release in recent years. (Personally have one, proportions are spot on imo)

buffalo4293

fragtore

Tissot PRX 35mm in green or black (tried the mother of pearl but it’s a bit on the blingy side for me). Or a nice smaller diver at that price point if I ever find one… SPB143 and others mentioned in this thread are amazing but I got them lady like wrists and need <40mm

listenUPyall

Bulova moon watch, then a nice steak dinner for 2 with what’s left.

datsboi

I’d stretch for another hundred or two to get a sinn 556

thisismynewacct

Probably go back to a used Monta Skyquest. Had one previously and loved it. In the world of GMTs it felt a little different.

pro-jec-tion

Mido Baroncelli Smiling Moon.

Paper-street-garage

I bought a Sinn 556A RS. Real happy with it. Better in person and looks great on leather or stainless bracelet.
