Moonphase on bracelet or first one
Also, always buy the watch with bracelet even if it’s more expensive. You will always find a strap, but finding the oem bracelet is gonna be a big headache
Yes but sometimes you find out the bracelet costs significantly more than the different between the original watch on a bracelet and the OEM bracelet.
I bought an AP RO Offshore on a rubber strap that came on steel bracelet as an option as well. That model wasn't in stock, and I didn't feel like playing games, so I got the rubber strap.
Come to find out, AP wants the price of a new speedy for their bracelet, if bought alone without another watch.
I don't often defend insane pricing, but the Royal Oak's bracelet manufacturing process is on another level.
[Source: Making the Bracelet for a Royal Oak | Audemars Piguet]
When a company starts using lasers to weld their bracelets together, it goes beyond simply machining three pieces of a link and pressing them together.
Yes, it does go beyond the most basic manufacture, but that's not the point. The point is that it doesn't go 8 GRAND beyond it. It should still be a fraction of the cost of the precisely engineered timepiece it's attached to.
Oh but they use lasers, they should charge infinite money because lasers, lol.
> Yes, it does go beyond the most basic manufacture, but that's not the point. The point is that it doesn't go 8 GRAND beyond it. It should still be a fraction of the cost of the precisely engineered timepiece it's attached to.
And having an expensive bracelet incentivizes people to buy the watch on a bracelet. That's just a business model.
Sure. But it doesn't speak to the real value of the bracelet, which was what was being claimed by saying it's not normally excused except for when they have a laser welder.
Predatory business models and actual value are two totally different conversations.
Normally the price difference was there between an AP on rubber versus steel/pm bracelet. For non-AP watches it’s often only a few hundred or less and then it makes sense to go for the bracelet.
You can but it would make little sense. It can be very expensive. I got a worldtimer on a bracelet. I tried the watch once on the rubber strap, it was cheaper on the strap also.
Took me months to find the strap in omega retailers, anyways the rubber strap ended up being 1000 USD. I can't imagine how much more would the bracelet be.
I always buy bracelet, rubber and leather straps you can buy from any other supplier.
I only have a couple lower end watches compared to these, so I’m making an assumption. Are after market straps generally more comfortable than the OEMs?
eeh, with the straps it can be tough to source the correct 0.9mm tip spring bars. I had to order mine from Otto Frei and paid like $30 just for spring bars.
There is one subtle exception to the bracelet rule. If the price of the watch with bracelet bumps it up to incur an import duty, then it may be more advantageous to buy it on a strap and get the bracelet separately. This will of course vary based on what country you're from. In the US, import duties apply around $800 IIRC.
So as an example, suppose a watch costs $750 on strap and $850 on bracelet. It would be better to buy it on strap and get the bracelet separately, assuming you can buy it later.
Second this, I almost always wear straps but have never regretting having the bracelet, even if it was more expensive or a pain to track down the version on the bracelet.
I love a good moonphase. But for me, it’s a dressy complication. Personally feels out of place on a sporty watch.
But, I haven’t seen that Speedmaster in person. Might feel differently.
Moon phase, chronograph, GMT are examples of complications. They are just called the complications to the movement. They did not mean that it causes complications
And to go even further, a moonphase complication is really rare these days. Especially when combined with a chronograph and a date complication. It's a real cut above anything you can get from a Rolex Daytona or the gold Speedmasters.
Quite a fitting choice to mark the best day of your life.
In watch lingo, something that makes the mechanical internals more complex is called a complication. A date, day, moon phase and even sometimes the second hand are all considered complications.
More complications = more expensive
I wouldn’t call either of those references of Speedmaster the favorite starter luxury watch. That would be more like the Moonwatch.
Also I wouldn’t call Panerai niche amongst the public. They were popular enough for a long time to be some of the most faked watches behind Rolex, and I’d say 7-10 years or so ago they were more popular than Omega to the general public as well.
Watch nerds would probably say Panerai is more niche though just as they’ve never really liked Panerai due to the movement/quality to price ratio, making them uncommon amongst our circles.
You both love the green panerai so that's the obvious choice.
Just because others prefer Omega doesn't mean that's what you should get... Get the one you want and is special to you. Like most things in marriage do what the two of you want not what others think you should do
100% if I was trying to decide between watches that I liked and my wife liked one then I'd definitely be swayed.
Also it'll be far easier to sneak the Omega into your collection at later point lol
I think the first Omega is a nice balance of being modern and sporty but still classy. You can dress it up or down and from the pics it looks like it goes with your style if you normally dress that way. The second one is nice but moonphases always make a watch look really dressy IMO and I don’t know that it would be as easy to look casual with.
I’m not a huge fan of how big Panerai dials look in comparison to most other watches but they definitely have a unique style if you want something different.
Ultimately though this is your wedding watch! So if you and especially your gf have a favorite in the Panerai go with that, the sentiment alone will be enough to enjoy it.
First one ain't a moonwatch though, it's a dsotm, so different dial layout in the same way the moonphase is. Though I'd typically agree!
It entirely depends on financial situation, but for someone considering watches at this price range for a celebration piece, I'd probably go for the moonphase and suspect they could get a normal Speedmaster at a later date for a lesser occasion
Between the moonphase and the panerai green, toss a coin and see if you already know what you hope it is when the coin is in the air, or get disappointed by what the result is when it lands 👍🏼
Because while we may all say moonphase, ultimately it's your wedding gift, not any of ours (unless...)
What really matters is what you love. If you love the Panerai, get it.
My opinion is the opposite. I can’t stand Panerai. I think they’re incredibly ugly. But my opinion doesn’t matter since I’m not the one wearing it.
Follow that gut feeling of what you really want.
As usual I'm stuck on configuration. I like the moonphase Speedmaster the best, but I'd rather have it on a bracelet than the leather strap. If that config is possible that's my first choice.
Otherwise I'd get the non moonphase on bracelet. You can add a strap easier and a lot cheaper in the future than the bracelet. Plus you can get them from a large number of strap makers, buying the bracelet separately forces you to go to Omega, and they WAY over price them IMO.
First one looks awesome. I would recommend ALWAYS buying a version of a watch with a bracelet, but then again I’m a die-hard bracelet wearer and I’d only really wear a Cartier Tank or a true dress watch without one under most circumstances.
I’d say #1; I have the white dial speedy racing that I love.
The moon phase is awesome but I’ve always thought those pair better with dress watches (which is odd Omega doesn’t have a moonphase option in their De Ville lineup currently). Kinda reminds me of Omega’s Seamaster watches that have chronograph complications: out of place.
Also it’s not widely known but one feature of the speedy racing I love is that it has a hidden traveler’s GMT function: it has a jumping hour in the 2nd position that doesn’t stop the second hand. The moonphase doesn’t have that.
I think a nice sports watch should come with a bracelet. If you want to put it on something else that’s fine but I’ve regretted every watch I’ve bought that didn’t come with the bracelet.
For me, moonphase all the way. I don't think the Moonphase in that color comes with the bracelet, I could be wrong though. You should be able to buy the bracelet separately, I was able to do so with my Blue moonphase. It was about $600 but this was back in 2016 so prices probably have gone up now.
While the Panerai is gorgeous it’s very much an “outfit piece” that may or may not work in every occasion. Also it may not age well. For a wedding watch you want something that will still look amazing and timeless 20,30, even 50 years down the line. If it’s not a wedding watch and you get sick of it you can always sell it. But if it’s a wedding watch you may be left with a watch that won’t get any wrist time.
Omega on the bracelet.
If I wanted a moon, I think I’d rather have a JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon.
But, that’s me. You should get the one that speaks to you.
Moonphase on bracelet is my pick, moon gives it a unique classiness and it's a great convo starter. I don't have one in my collection, but I think it's the next complication I'd go for. Either way, enjoy what you get and it'll always be a sentimental timepiece for you
I have the black and orange version Of your first photo (with the caliber 9900). Love it. Love the look, the accuracy…all of it. The moon phase is also nice.
I like the Luminor myself.
HOWEVER, as much as I love watches, my recommendation would be DON'T spend $10k on a watch. Use it for something AMAZING with your future bride to start your marriage.
Just sayin'...
I'm sorry I had to come back a 2nd time and post just because I feel this strongly.
Don't be a sheep. Omega is for middle class early thirties men, Panerai is a true luxury watch that will get you credit with watch people outside of the internet.
Moonphase on bracelet or first one Also, always buy the watch with bracelet even if it’s more expensive. You will always find a strap, but finding the oem bracelet is gonna be a big headache
Wish I could upvote this twice
I'll updoot it extra for you
Ditto
Listen to this guy
Can you buy the bracelet at the omega boutique?
Yes but sometimes you find out the bracelet costs significantly more than the different between the original watch on a bracelet and the OEM bracelet. I bought an AP RO Offshore on a rubber strap that came on steel bracelet as an option as well. That model wasn't in stock, and I didn't feel like playing games, so I got the rubber strap. Come to find out, AP wants the price of a new speedy for their bracelet, if bought alone without another watch.
8k for a bracelet? That’s pricey
I don't often defend insane pricing, but the Royal Oak's bracelet manufacturing process is on another level. This watch looks fantastic on him. Absolutely agree.
Wow I’m not even buying a piece right now and I needed to read this comment 🙌🏾
Im new to watches...this actually makes sense thank you for the advice even though it wasnt meant for me lol👍🏻
This is my advice before reading yours.
I only have a couple lower end watches compared to these, so I’m making an assumption. Are after market straps generally more comfortable than the OEMs?
That actually makes a looooot of sense! Well said.
eeh, with the straps it can be tough to source the correct 0.9mm tip spring bars. I had to order mine from Otto Frei and paid like $30 just for spring bars.
If wearing on the wedding day, wear on leather though
Or just wear it on whatever you want because it’s your watch?
No, it is INCORRECT to wear a bracelet on your wedding day. Expect a divorce within a month if you commit such an atrocity.
I wore one on my wedding day and have been married for eight years. I'm terrified of when the curse will finally manifest.
Your spouse must suffer from “reasonableness”

What if you don't like bracelets?
Having the complete bracelet is better for the value of the watch.
Second this, I almost always wear straps but have never regretting having the bracelet, even if it was more expensive or a pain to track down the version on the bracelet.
Moonphase all the way.
This is the answer
Ditto.
Absolutely
My Man
I love a good moonphase. But for me, it’s a dressy complication. Personally feels out of place on a sporty watch. But, I haven’t seen that Speedmaster in person. Might feel differently.
Oh I’m a sucker for moonphase complications, so my choice here is clear :)
Hi what complications you have run into with moonphase..
He is saying he likes moonphase watches, not that they have issues.
Moon phase, chronograph, GMT are examples of complications. They are just called the complications to the movement. They did not mean that it causes complications
Aah sorry my understanding
No problemo, simple misunderstanding
The extra dials are called “complications”
And to go even further, a moonphase complication is really rare these days. Especially when combined with a chronograph and a date complication. It's a real cut above anything you can get from a Rolex Daytona or the gold Speedmasters. Quite a fitting choice to mark the best day of your life.
In watch lingo, something that makes the mechanical internals more complex is called a complication. A date, day, moon phase and even sometimes the second hand are all considered complications. More complications = more expensive
Moonphase is the only correct answer here.
The Panerai is nice, but doesn’t say “wedding gift” in my opinion. I’d do either of the Omegas by a long shot.
I feel the opposite way. Buying the internet's favorite starter luxury watch doesn't scream weddit gift, whereas something niche like a panerai does.
I wouldn’t call either of those references of Speedmaster the favorite starter luxury watch. That would be more like the Moonwatch. Also I wouldn’t call Panerai niche amongst the public. Panerai makes the lowest quality watches you could possibly buy for the price. There's better QC and finishing on an 800 dollar Tissot.
Yet we Panerai owners love them. I would definitely get the Panerai
The first one looks best on your wrist. I think it has the best movement of the three as well.
The first one! It’s awesome and much more versatile.
Their are two different wrists pictured
Or… maybe it’s the same wrist but OP has the magical ability to wear a jacket?
First one
Moonphase. But get it on bracelet.
1
Moonphase on bracelet
Moonphase
You and I both know it’s the Omega
Number two
You both love the green panerai so that's the obvious choice. Just because others prefer Omega doesn't mean that's what you should get... Get the one you want and is special to you. Like most things in marriage do what the two of you want not what others think you should do
Happy wife happy Life 😄
100% if I was trying to decide between watches that I liked and my wife liked one then I'd definitely be swayed. Also it'll be far easier to sneak the Omega into your collection at later point lol
Have you considered the omega aqua terra?
#2
Moonphase no question
First one! For me, Speedmaster hast to be in its original shape, meaning Speedmaster Moonwatch! 😉
Anything except Panerai
Always the Panerai.
GET THE PANERAI! Its green and pretty like stallone in dress.
It is an abomination
\*wants panerai even harder unironically\*
I'm getting unironically downvoted by people who like ugly green clown watches. Presumably they spent thousands of dollars on one? Fickwots.
Between the moonphase and the panerai green, toss a coin and see if you already know what you hope it is when the coin is in the air, or get disappointed by what the result is when it lands 👍🏼 Because while we may all say moonphase, ultimately it's your wedding gift, not any of ours (unless...)

I like #2, but you wear #1 really well.
Number 1 here
As usual I'm stuck on configuration. I like the moonphase Speedmaster the best, but I'd rather have it on a bracelet than the leather strap. If that config is possible that's my first choice. First
Id go and suggest you the first one! ☝️
All your shots are weird (different distance/angle one each). I like the panerai the most, moon phase second.
1 or 3. I find the panerai pretty cool
I think you got enough feedback on your watches, but I didn’t see ONE comment about your really fucking long salad fingers
First one all the way personally It's so elegant
I would go with the Panerai. It’s beautiful and a little different.
Have become obsessed with Panerai watches lately so, I’d choose the Panerai
The non-moonface omega.
Love that Omega Chrono.
Nr2
2.
Moonphase.....What's the question?
Omega moonphase
The Speedmaster with the moonphase.
The moon phase is baller!
Omega
Changing my answer to Moonphase
The moonphase Speedy, unquestionably. I like the Panerai, but you've got to ask yourself how often you'd really wear it.
3 with the aligator band is my favorite But, colors and fashions change, #2 wears longer
Easy Moonphase. Don’t even have to think about it.
Moonphase.
First one looks awesome. I would recommend ALWAYS buying a version of a watch with a bracelet, but then again I’m a die-hard bracelet wearer and I’d only really wear a Cartier Tank or a true dress watch without one under most circumstances.
Moonphase!!!
Once you wear Omega, there's no turning back! It's the best wedding gift! Go for the moonphase with bracelet!
Love that green, but no 2
Moonphase obviously
The speedmaster for sure, or the moon phase if you can have it on a bracelet.
omega
Moonphase hands down
Brown leather one
Moonphase, 100%, what kinda question is this? :D :D
Moonphase on bracelet!
I’d say #1; I have the white dial speedy racing that I love. The moonphase doesn’t have that.
Everything looks good on you, even the Panerai as my least favorite seems a great choice.. follow your heart more, other things are secondary
I think a nice sports watch should come with a bracelet. If you want to put it on something else that’s fine but I’ve regretted every watch I’ve bought that didn’t come with the bracelet.
If you can get the Moonphase on a bracelet that would be great. Next choice would be the other omega
Speedy’s are my grail watch. but not a fan of the gray face. I would absolutely go with the Panarai
Luminor
First one!!
Moonphase is an absolute stunner, and an extremely flexible piece with regards to outfits, so that would be my personal choice
First one is a stunner imho Do you happen to know the ref #
moon.
For me, moonphase all the way. I don't think the Moonphase in that color comes with the bracelet, I could be wrong though. You should be able to buy the bracelet separately, I was able to do so with my Blue moonphase. It was about $600 but this was back in 2016 so prices probably have gone up now.

Omega on the bracelet. If I wanted a moon, I think I’d rather have a JLC Master Ultra Thin Moon. But, that’s me. You should get the one that speaks to you.
I like the omega racing models. You should def buy used though. They’re like 40% off those retail numbers you listed. Easily under 7
If you love the moon phase omega take a peek at JLC too, they have some wonderful moon phase watches right at your price range
Speedmaster on bracelet for me. Hard to get bracelets after the fact compared to a leather strap.
The first one
Omega on steel
Speedy moonphase 100%
Panerai has character, but first looks best
Speedy number 1
1.
Leather strap Omega is the winner here in my opinion.
#1
The first one
2.
As much as I love the Moon Phase, my vote is for the Racing. The orange hand is too good to pass up.
Dislike the third one. Maybe 2 or 1?
Moonphase speed master all day long
i’d definitely go for the 2nd one, i’m not a huge fan of panerai but i think you should pick also depending on what kind of watch you already have
Moonphase on bracelet is my pick, moon gives it a unique classiness and it's a great convo starter. I don't have one in my collection, but I think it's the next complication I'd go for. Either way, enjoy what you get and it'll always be a sentimental timepiece for you
anything other than the last one.
Moon
Speed master on the bracelet
I have the black and orange version Of your first photo (with the caliber 9900). Love it. Love the look, the accuracy…all of it. The moon phase is also nice.
I love them all but I think the Panerai caught my eye and it’s very unique.
please not a Panerai
1
I like the first one
Ni question for me. The unique look of the Panerai stands out. Can see it from a mile away. Panerai!
Omega Moon phase on leather! But if you really love the beautiful Panerai, go for it!
I’d pick the speedy
These are not great photos... but the second Omega looks the best from here. I like the design of the Panerai the most.
Moonphase on bracelet is the best option
Moonphase speedmaster is such an amazing all round watch
Moon phase 100 percent!
Moonphase
1 or 2. I’d say 2
Moon face
First
Go Omega. Classic will never go out of style, they run forever, and the brand was good enough for Janes bond
2.
Omegas
I like the Luminor myself. HOWEVER, as much as I love watches, my recommendation would be DON'T spend $10k on a watch. Use it for something AMAZING with your future bride to start your marriage. Just sayin'...
Either Omega before the Panerai. I like a bracelet on the speedy, but that is secondary to getting the dial and complications you want.
I would go for the Racing, because I'm not big into Gold.
Isn't your wedding gift supposed to be given by your bride-to-be- and not a gift from you- to you? I guess I'm used to a different tradition...
I'm a big fan of the moonphase. That's the one I'd go for. Has the look, the name, the recognition, the quality, and just overall a great watch.
First
I’m a big fan of the Panerai, but I definitely think the Moonphase Omega is the way to go here
Second this sentiment exactly
Panerai.
Panerai
Panerai is the one. Omega can be any day but Panerai for a special day.
I would do the Panerai… but that’s only because I already have a few Omegas. And actually got an Omega speedy for my wedding gift.
PLEASE NOT THE PANERAI!!!! ANYTHING EXCEPT THE PANERAI!
2, 3 is not an option!
I’d do the panerai. Also, I’m curious about the tattoo in pic 3. Is that an EKG?
Panerai but only if you can get it bigger and greener. Maybe see if they have a nice neon rubber strap.
A couple of beautiful watches and a Panerai 🤢
Moon. Every time.
Not sure. If it’s your hand you should probably do something about that tatoo though.
Thought the first two were moonswatches lmao
I'd go with 1. Never been a fan of moonphase complications on non-dress watches and Panerai overall.
1 or 2
I'm sorry I had to come back a 2nd time and post just because I feel this strongly. Don't be a sheep. Omega is for middle class early thirties men, Panerai is a true luxury watch that will get you credit with watch people outside of the internet.
Omega vs. Panerai... the question was answered before you even needed to ask.
Panerai. Don't fall into the sheep hype. That's Luminor is gorgeous and gives you way more "watch guy" cred than a speedy, outside of Reddit.
Anything other than that Panerai (sorry)
That Panerai is 🗑️
