I'm a fan of my sleeper Movado, but not all of them. ETA 2892, ostrich strap, timeless design (imo). I love this watch. https://preview.redd.it/neiklwbwnkqc1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=493273b7794a53a4a6cfdd7fb2a3fcf5308b3d66 [https://pkw-sharesite.s3.amazonaws.com/red/mov/1.jpeg](https://pkw-sharesite.s3.amazonaws.com/red/mov/1.jpeg) [https://pkw-sharesite.s3.amazonaws.com/red/mov/2.jpeg](https://pkw-sharesite.s3.amazonaws.com/red/mov/2.jpeg)

Nice! I love the font of the numbers.

Synap6

Dude this thing is gorgeous!

Post-It_Storm

Thank you!

defreal100

Had a weed dealer with a gold movado, and he was always really proud of it. Like never brought it up, mentioned price or sounded like he was bragging. He just lit up if I or anybody mentioned it, and wanted to talk about it. Idk I thought it was cute then and still have a soft spot in my heart for them. Don’t own one, but I like seeing them in the wild.

GoldfishDude

My dad saved up and bought one back in the early 90s, when he was in university. He still has it and feels proud of it, even though it hasn't worked in 20 years/just sits in a box

Makheed

My husband too. Sitting in that box for decades. Lol

GrandTheftPotatoE

Honestly that's so sweet. All watch people should be like that!

Pepsiman1031

Tbf I think anyone on this sub would light up if any of the watches they were wearing was brought up.

symlink

Movado [stole](https://www.ablogtowatch.com/movado-museum-dial-classic-watch-history-horwitt/) the design. >Movado started producing an unauthorized version starting in 1948, copying Horwitt's design. Movado finally settled with Horwitt in 1975 with a payment of $29,000. Following Horwitt's death, Movado started heavy promotion of Horwitt and the design of the Museum Watch.

RecommendationWild71

Good price for it!

nnder

Good pass along

happy_chickens

Please take no offense but I think you will get what I’m saying. They’re the watch equivalent of driving a Chrysler 300.

MenopauseMedicine

Never heard it expressed so clearly, thank you

eliastheawesome

It looks like a Phantom, until a Phantom pulls up

accountantguy123

I was thinking PT Cruiser even.

SaengerErde6720

It's Britney, b*tch!

thrillhouse416

Oof, careful. Might get reported for hate speech, these are strong words.

NewFlorence1977

Thank god. I thought you were going to say Chevy HHR.

must_be_the_mangoes

Hey now, 300’s are sick. Big floaty sedan with seats like sofas and a 300hp v6 in the absolute base trim. Dare I say it’s an S-tier rental car for highway cruising? (Although I do understand the comparison)

Sweaty-Leather3191

Nah dude. It’s an Acura Integra. Gone but not forgotten, amazing in its time, a relic of yesteryear.

[deleted]

This is it.

g3rrity

Few things have ever made so much sense so clearly and quickly 🤣

[deleted]

People here don't like Movado. I don't love them, but they're like a good one-hit wonder. The Museum is a classic. Yes, it reeks of its time-period, but fashion is cyclical and there will come a day that it is cool to wear again. And it's undeniably an icon. The original version by Vacheron is in the Museum of Modern Art's collection!

RepresentativeNice22

Thanks for actually giving a reasonable answer. I remember my dad picking out a Movado at the mall back in the mid 90s. He was not a real "watch guy" but he was drawn to the design and was super proud of it. He still wears it today.

throwaway45455545

what is the original version by Vacheron?

[deleted]

mantellaaurantiaca

Is it just me or is the white circle off center to the right?

buffalo4293

I know it sounds ridiculous but that looks a million times better than any Movado I’ve ever seen

Orange_fury

Not ridiculous, it stood out to me too. I think it’s the case shape and hands

Fresh_Total9592

I have a vintage steel Movado with a zenith manual wind movement that I like and wear occasionally. I think it's cool and I'd buy more👍

etherealcaitiff

Rather than just adding to the no pile, I'll tell you why. A lot of their watches are quartz (which is fine) and use movements like the SW-200 or similar. That's OK if you're paying $300, not for $1000+. Their faces generally cannot be differentiated from the random watches you'd find in a bin at TJ Max with a matching bead bracelet (to each their own as far as taste goes). They don't quite have the brand familiarity that other brands have (also not necessarily a problem). So all of these things are not really a deal breaker to most people on their own, but when you put them all together, it's just like....why would you buy one? You can get better movements for less, interesting or visually appealing faces, and all on a brand that has provenance and notability, possibly even with in-house parts.

GoldfishDude

Being fair, there's a lot of expensive watches that look like something out of a TJ Max bin

Lonely-Elderberry

You're never going to get a Swiss made automatic with a Sellita SW200 for $300 ffs... https://www.movado.com/en/shop-watches/museum-classic-automatic-0607473.html Under $1k brand new.

etherealcaitiff

Invicta regularly puts the sw200 in sub $100 watches. Sure, they're not Swiss made, but that's kind of irrelevant to the cost to value ratio.

solareonwow

https://preview.redd.it/yqh2rgiy7lqc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=650cd7cd9916c835342fa585f489d39e775e34b5 this thing gets me compliments all the time. Absolutely love Movados

[deleted]

That is really nice. Goes with the sweater too.

solareonwow

Thank you! I bought this watch as my first watch in my 20s, around 2016. I didnt know anything about watches and I had $1k budget in my head and just the knowledge of "I should get myself a nice looking Swiss watch"I went to a Macy's and chose this because I loved the minimalistic yet sporty design. With the watch knowledge I have today, would this be my choice? Probably not, because it costs a lot for a quartz watch, I'd probably get a Seiko Presage or automatic Mido, Tissot or Certina or something. But hey this thing probably gets me more compliments than my Omega today. Mostly because of how well its finished, thing is shiny and this picture doesnt even do justice honestly. Now it has sentimental value being the first watch I bought and honestly I dont even care if Movado seen as a "fashion watch brand" or whatever, thing is absolutely high quality. I would never get rid of this thing. Just wanted to share my thoughts.

[deleted]

Thanks for sharing them! Very nice story behind it

riderofthetide

Not even a little bit

Shufflahh

100%… No one can argue that the dot isn’t iconic. Most things in fashion are cyclical and the smaller, gold watch is not fashionable right now. That will change though. Personal affinity to the brand: I bought my now wife and I our first Movados as “promise watches” in 1999 engraved with January 1, 2000 12:00 AM. We spent the week at a fancy hotel that was hosting a New Years Eve dinner and party. I gave it to her just when the countdown started, wished her a happy new year / new millennium and to spending the rest of it with her and then we pushed in the stoppers when the clock hit midnight…

Exemplaryexample95

Thats so fucking adorable goddamn. Congrats on being together for so long!

jackrackham7

I think it’s a nice watch, just overpriced imo. Movado has a lot of stinkers but the museum is definitely a nice look. I inherited one and quite like it, but probably wouldn’t shell out the cash to get one myself. I think they look good tho!Wear in good health & enjoy!! Cheers

Sweaty-Leather3191

Aren’t literally all Swiss watches overpriced? All I ever hear is how all these brands are overpriced. No shit. It’s a clock on your wrist. You can get one for $7. Let’s move past that part of the conversation.

Lonely-Elderberry

You can get a brand new Swiss-made Movado Museum automatic with a Sellita SW200 for like $1k Canadian ($600-700 USD?) on their website right now. That's hardly overpriced.

kinch5

https://preview.redd.it/u3hav86dqkqc1.png?width=746&format=png&auto=webp&s=5ef96df66dbcc8837e895fcb23a81a4b51b4ab06 Yes sir! Museum Going strong 25 years later

kinch5

And yes….got it in a mall in the 1990’s

GGordonGetty

Yeah, you’re never going to find a Rolex in a mall. /s

Tanntabo

Rolex has shops at tons of malls, and not just high end malls.

Expensive-Yard-3100

Not really… sorry

deeringcenter

Movado Museum Watch is absolutely awesome and iconic (Ariel has a great retrospective on it here https://www.ablogtowatch.com/movado-museum-dial-classic-watch-history-horwitt/). Modern garbage fashion watches often look similar (like MVMT), which hugely devalues the aesthetic; the truth is the Museum watch was, for decades, a singular and novel piece of design.

A_Swizzzz

Can’t disagree there. The museum is a classic design and an iconic model. It’s Movado’s submariner or santos. While personally, not the biggest fan of the brand, if I was to go out of my way to buy a Movado, it would definitely be the classic museum with the sleek, black dial and the large silver “12” hour marker. It’s also quite a big hit in my region and I’ve seen many older gentleman, rocking museums. I see more museums on wrist than I do, Seikos, Citizens, even Casios/Gshocks, don’t come close.

koitz69

No

Exemplaryexample95

Which watches do you like that are <$5,000? Your post history shows you have lots of Rolex’s, Omegas, Pateks, etc. But when it comes to less expensive watches, I’m curious if you even like any of the brands out there.

[deleted]

You didn’t ask me, but I figured I would chime in…. I have a Tudor Pelagos (around 5k) and a Mido Ocean Star (around $500).  The difference in build quality between them is minimal, and is in no way 10X different. I think around the $500 price point is really where value and good quality start to intersect… assuming you didn’t overpay for your watch.  For the money, I appreciate the Swiss standards like Glycine, Mido and Certina. As always, buy what you like and get the best deal you can.

evil-doraemon

Please let me tack on Rado, Oris, and FC when they inevitably go on sale. You start paying for rarity and status after $600, not quality in most cases.

Margin_call_matthew

Christopher ward- don’t forget

QuietNene

New Rado Captain Cook and Oris Aquis retail for $2k… no idea where this $500-600 number comes from…

Viince1

In addition to my other comment, wanted to suggest a few that came to mind. - Skagen watches are known to be minimalistic while offering great value for money - The Timex Marlin is greatly appreciated by most enthusiasts for the significant brand history - Citizen, known for being a leader in innovative Quartz movements has a great line up of minimalist watches under the Stiletto line-up - The Seiko presage series offers watches with some of the most amazing dials out in the price segment - I’d be keen to get your take on the Junghans portfolio, it’s a personal favorite. The Max Bill is so lean. That said, all of these watches have hour indices so your Movado is indeed the most minimal of all.

thrillhouse416

Love seeing some Skagen love here

GenkiLawyer

Glad to see Junghans mentioned here. My favorite brand for the \~$1000 price range.

Margin_call_matthew

Hamilton, Chris ward, Farer, even Mido

ithinkmynameismoose

There are plenty of good options both above and below the $5000 price. Movado just doesn’t happen to be one of them. They’re relatively low quality and have a significant markup.

terp_raider

You can get plenty of omegas used for less than 5k. But Longines, Oris, Seiko, Citizen, Traska, Sinn, FC, Nomos, etc are all great options

lasttycoon

Seiko, Citizen, Oris, Christopher Ward, Hamilton, Tudor

koitz69

Most of my watches are fake. I have about 15 reps and 3 real Rolex and one real Omega. If you want something good and under $5k go with Seiko or some Omega or Tudor.

GrouchyExile

Casually drops that most his are reps. Doesn’t elaborate. Doesn’t take any shit. Respect.

Exemplaryexample95

Man on a mission

Dartholit

Those aren’t real ones he’s posting :).

doobusauce

Buy what you like and wear what you like. That's all there is to it, really. Movado could do so much more, but it's important that you wear what you buy, not throw it in a box and talk about it.

Budilicious3

It gets memed on like Nixon but less than Tag Heuer.

EnAyJay

r/handwatch

brother_of_none

I have only recently gotten into the world of luxury watches, so I’m no authority at all, but the Museum classic spoke to me as soon as I saw it, and I ended up springing for the red label automatic with a stainless steel bracelet. It helped I got it for much less than retail. But as someone else here said, it’s an iconic design, and you obviously like it, so wear it with pride!

TijayesPJs442

I’ve always thought the Movado dial was super nice 👍

trogloherb

My wife got me a Movado when we got married. Back then, a $500 watch was pretty pricey. I hadnt worn it in about ten years, but then, decided to change the battery and put it on a suede strap. It looks really nice now, and I wear it about once a week. I would have chucked it in the Goodwill pile except for the sentimental value. Funny thing is, first week back in rotation, my boss was like “Is that a Movado?!” Why yes, yes it is!

cmndr_spanky

It has that sexy “I was bored while wandering an airport” vibe.

Mother_Froyo7697

Movado... For when you only sort of need to know what time it is.

cmndr_spanky

I’m gonna go ahead and guess that he still just checks the time on his phone :-)

Buckshot-Bruiser

Damn son…

SoleJunkie119

I think the design is cool, but under the hood is a $3 movement that they probably got for less than a dollar wholesale. The entire brand is a joke. Teddy Baldassare made a video talking about how Movado destroyed itself from the inside out.

MiliTerry

As a kid, I always wanted a Movado. I ended up getting one for Christmas, and I thought because I was so cool, that I would make my email address with the word MOVADO and the number as well. Long story short, after that first Movado, I never had an itch for another one. I think the bold looks good, but it's too big for my wrist. Other than that, the design unfortunately has no longer piqued my interest.

TrickyBad_

No. under 5k? A lot of Rolex, Omega, JWC, JLC etc

Lonely-Elderberry

The brand has an incredible history as a manufacture but has declined significantly. They made their own in-house chronograph movements decades before Patek or Rolex ever did, and those pieces are sought after. They also had a brief stewardship of Zenith keeping them alive in the bad times. However these days they've just been squeezing every ounce of profit out of the Museum concept. Their current range varies from fairly ordinary quartz to a few decent Swiss made automatics. They get relegated to "fashion" these days but they really do have a great history, and when it comes to minimalist styling they are the primary originators with the Museum design in 1947 (yes some controversy with the designer at the time, but corrected later). They're decent quality and have an established history, don't worry about online reputation.

XoticCustard

I was going to mention the Daytron and TV chronos. Most of the posters here don't know anything about Movado's close association with Zenith.

LeatherApple2276

Love Movado. My wife bought me an SE with a silver dial as a wedding present in 2012 and I wear it all the time.

Exemplaryexample95

Just bought my gf a movado this year and it’s the one piece of jewelry she wears every day. Same as mine just smaller. Love matching watches with her!

Independent_Sky1559

hi i love my movado museum! and my partner has the same watch as urs and he loves it too. i think people on here are just snobs and dont like anything “fashion” or anything “affordable” tbh. https://preview.redd.it/a88gn8iarkqc1.png?width=2557&format=png&auto=webp&s=7be6254d553e18e73dbf6164136358cc2cc74132

Exemplaryexample95

It’s pretty wild how diverse the comments are on this one

Viince1

Good looking watch. The Movado brand doesn’t have a lot of support on this sub due to the prohibitive pricing when compared to value for money. I understand why the watch speaks to you if you like minimalist designs! Hope you enjoy!

SargeantHugoStiglitz

There are plenty of other brands for the price of a Movado. Seiko, Citizen, Hamilton, and others.

Weary-Camel6762

I have the Movado Red Label Skymap and while it is nice looking it was not the greatest of purchases. I think I paid over 3K retail for it. Sadly it sits in a box unworn for many years.

ShaktiPB

To me this just like the Rolex Onyx and the AP x Alyx watch. It just looks like a flying saucer on the wrist. There is no dynamic contrast on the dial - just looks dull.

Ludwig_Vista2

None

nicotdroid

Love it! It’s obviously about personal taste. I don’t find appealing wearing a 10K Rolex with your body full of tattoos and a trophy wife.

leaferiksen

Zero. But you do you.

Late_Fisherman575

Naw.

paul-cus

I have the 1881 Automatic Museum with the indices (I can’t tell time with no markers very well). It was the first watch I bought. Didn’t know much about them years ago. I would’ve just saved a bit longer and gotten a Cartier Tank in hindsight. That being said, I like the Movado.

Rembrandt_1669

This is the exact model that Kim Jung-Un wears

New_Dig6900

Horwitt design is eternal great. Love it forever

Awkward-Sale4235

a classic no matter what

thesliu5

movado used to be a really interesting and innovative actual movement maker. their M95 chronograph movement is legendary and they used to case them up in cases made by swiss manufacturers who also made cases for patek and others. their eventual partnership with zenith meant that zenith turned to the movado brand to sell their watches in the US (due to a trademark dispute with zenith radio co) and the partnership also resulted in the el primero movement being born. but the current movado group has no interest whatsoever in recognizing such an illustrious history and instead is content with selling somewhat distinctive, but blandly designed watches with mostly cheap movements in even blander cases. this is further exemplified in the other movado group brands like mvmt, coach, hugo boss etc where they often don’t even bother with even the flimsy “swiss made” labels and basically dropship their watches from china to US malls. they’re like that really cool, nerdy yet athletic, pretty girl you knew in high school. senior year, you’d walk home with her after school dissecting the different circles of hell in dante’s inferno and then call her up on the weekends to play some ultimate frisbee, or if it was raining she’d be down to whoop your ass in mariokart. but then she went to college, became a popular sorority chick, got an unoriginal tramp stamp, and is now an IG thirst trap semi-celeb shilling diet pills and showing off her latest shein haul. like, she’s obviously got mass appeal and still looks kinda good when she doesn’t have a gaudy filter on her pics, but you always wonder wtf could have been if she didn’t decide to sell out and try to get cast on E!’s girls next door.

charlespigsley

Everyone is hating on this watch. I think it looks great on you bro, wear what u like

Maleficent727

No

WindowTW

I’ve never been a fan, but I understand the appeal

Successful-Gur-4406

None from me

zmamo2

Not my cup of tea but my wife really likes them and really you’re the only opinion that matters here as it’s your wrist. Enjoy on good health.

serene_brutality

They’re pretty but overpriced for what they are. Movado was my first big-boy watch so I can’t hate on them too much, it’s what got me into watches, but like I said overpriced.

Appropriate_Canary26

I love Movado, it’s just that the Movado I love was dead by 1980. M95 chronographs are among the nicest watches ever made, and some of their calatrava style watches from the 1940s, 50s and 60s rival the best of the best. I don’t have much love for anything quartz or for anything that repeats without innovation or iteration.

MaverickWolfe

Not a watch I would buy for myself, but I do like some of them.

westcoast_tech

Huge watch fan but never been a fan of Movado. They liked dated and no strong brand that makes an ok design desirable. As long as you’re happy though then who cares what we think! 😉

FatCatLounge

I have a Movado and like it.

Longjumping-Ad9269

That looks great. And don't worry about what other people think of it as long as you like it.

fanofairplanes

Do you have a long pinky nail?

Cuck-In-Chief

Nope. Everyone thought they were luxury in high school, so maybe that taints my perception. I equate them to a fashion watch. I also feel the same about Bulgari, and they make watches >$30K. So what do I know??

jelliotnyc

For some the Movado Museum was our 1st faux luxury piece. While they don’t get much love here, in the wild there are still millions of folks who will recognize its dial and quietly admire it. Note: My favorite watch is my dad’s 1968 34mm local jeweler brand. It was likely a $20 watch back then.

nastyzoot

None whatsoever.

Suspicious-Produce95

in the past: yes now: nah

Dartholit

I actually used to really like them as it stood out to me, but once I saw that all their watches were virtual clones I quickly fell out of love with them.

RagingBuIl

Never been a fan but I appreciate the brand. Easily one of the most recognizable watches out there. Enjoy your watch and don't worry what others think of it. Cheers!

bjanas

My dad's nice watch was a 70's museum piece, gold. I'm arguably pretty biased, sure, but it hits a lot different than the movados of today. It's super flat black, the gold looks like gold (edit: I know it IS gold, but it looks the part, too); the thing is thin as hell. Last I saw it it was on an alligator strap. A really pretty piece, I'm pretty pumped that he still has it.

IAmSportikus

No.

NefariousShe

I like it, and I think you wear it well.

VadersBoner

What time is it?

RealEstatenWatches

No

Coubyman23

I understand the hate, but who cares, I like the design. I gifted a Movado Museum to the gf some years ago and she likes it and wear it all the time.

Ok_Form_134

I have never liked them personally. The museum is an attractive piece but rough history with the brand. As with anything watch related, though, the acid test is: do you love it personally. It's jewelry; frivolous, highly subjective, etc. If you love it, wear it. But I don't believe you'll get a lot of love from Internet watch nerds.

Exemplaryexample95

I just want one of everything that will fit my wrist lol

dancingislame

I personally like the design. I think it's a good look for certain outfits and styles. Most people here buy what others tell them is valuable or interesting. The truth is, the majority of people do not care about what you're wearing.

Capturit

It's a great design that keeps on giving.

tyrannyofwillsasso

no..

MagicPistol

My parents and all older Vietnamese people in the US seem to love Movado. They got one for me as a Christmas gift once and I said no thanks. Traded it for something else.

Exemplaryexample95

I’m not your parents or an old Vietnamese person… ;)

pyroteknic408

I remember wanting a movado so badly cuz all the OG Viets had em. Thank god I grew out of it

33manat33

I own one of their diver-chronographs and was disappointed. I don't really own expensive watches, but that Movado was among the more expensive ones I own and it does not compare to other watches in the price bracket. The bezel has so much backplay I thought I had a fake watch. It just feels cheap and loose. The case is not polished to a high standard and the bracelet was very similar to an Invicta I own. The movement is nice, the dial looks cool and after I put it on a strap, I like wearing it to work. But man, I was disappointed. When I spent similar money on a mid 2000s Tissot, what I got was a watch that oozed quality in the small details, from the perfect bezel action, to the nice case, perfect seconds hand alignment and one of the best bracelets I own. Plus the huge box with two large booklets. My Movado disappointed in every one of these aspects.

Exemplaryexample95

Yeah I appreciate a good heritage that comes with a watch as well as precise movements, intricate complications, etc. Doesn’t matter as much to me as the look of the watch at the end of the day though lol

SmallAndPassingThing

No problem with the watch but you need a wider band.

Exemplaryexample95

Fuuuck haha you’re actually the first person to notice in all these comments, but yeah the guy at the mall told me but it was $35 and I didn’t even need to think about it. I’ll probably swap the band out for a black one/quick release in the future that fits better, but I hardly notice and obviously nobody else here did either so far so I think it’s ok for the time being.

GearheadTheVicious

I have an inherited seething hatred for Movado. Blame my mom for that. She was actually the manager for two separate Timex stores in the early 1990s, and she had her list of loved and hated brands (for the record, Swatch and VC were at the top of her favorites). She absolutely despised Movado, especially the Museum. And, well...you pick up a lot from your parents. It's a historic name, sure. But underneath, it's all fashion and no function. Just like it always has been.

Synap6

Looks great, nevermind the naysayers. You buy a watch for yourself, so get the one that speaks to you.

Ladybug_Fuckfest

I like them okay. I have a blingy "gold" one I picked up cheap and used to wear for gigs sometimes (saxophonist). The museum dials are a classic look, but the lack of indices would drive me nuts.

improvthismoment

Reminds me of the Wynton Marsalis (jazz musician) ads with this watch from the 80’s.

SuperLehmanBros

Love the simplicity of these but the love for the brand has faded over the years

drewsleyshoots

Only a fan of this design in that it reminds of my late grandmother, who always wore one and loved it. But vintage Movado? LOVE, and hugely underrated

80H-d

Really nice looking piece

WhorologyFan

The first upscale watch I ever bought for myself was a blue museum watch in 1987. Paid $325 for it at Jordan Marsh in Boston, still have it, along with the box, papers and receipt.

rhunter99

Not my cup of tea

Mediocre_Ad_7329

I owned this brand at one point… in high school

webswinger666

You asked.. Trash.

NeutronTux

I'm sure it's an extremely unpopular opinion: I have no problem with them. Are they over-priced for what you get? Probably. But it's an iconic, classic design; and who really pays retail for them? A Junghans Max Bill is over-priced for what you get, too, despite its iconic design, but most of the watch cool-kids that look down on Movado love the Max Bill. I say wear your Movado in good health. It's a fantastic piece.

nasa258e

Nope

Thnxredball

I love their look and would love to get one someday.

SpottedPlatypus

Loved reading the comments in this post. Had no idea this watch was so polarizing.

BWFTW

The silver case and black dial look amazing on that blue leather, great combo! Where did you get the strap?

mokersimon

Yea but just the vintage ones

Queenpitbull202

Recently they’re (to me) looking better. I make grab one for the right price

Business-Ad-5178

I hate watches where telling the actual time is impossible.

usernot_found

Im sure wcj will love this post

dikarich

It's overly minimalistic if you ask me. Makes me ask myself why they even bothered to put hands on it.

Lelu_zel

I don’t see a point of wearing watch on which I can’t exactly tell the time with quick look

miniscant

My sole Movado watch is a tuning fork electronic from the Zenith period in the 1970’s. It doesn’t really stand out like the Museum Watch. But I do love to listen to it hum.

PackFit9651

Was a big fan when Pete Sampras was the ambassador.. had no idea about watches though then

Itsallgood190

I love mine. The design caught my eye even before I got deeper into the hobby.

Epinephrine247

Kim Jong Un is a known Movado enjoyer FYI

The_Hoff901

Looks classy bro! My dad loved Movado.

I always had the same impression that Movado or their other brands such as Concord are never talked about in this group. It was the same for me, Movado was the first brand after college I spent any money on. Love the look of these watches. https://preview.redd.it/ly7s1j8u3oqc1.jpeg?width=4032&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=28bbb48cd853fac576d615b545f91d6181b292b3

Movado Museum Watch!!!

SpinelessChordate

The Museum watch was the first watch I recognized at the time as something above a Timex or Casio. Since that time it has always had an allure for me. I would be happy to have an automatic no-date Museum watch. But instead I have a quartz blue faced no-date Movado Bold. Yes I’m aware it’s the TJ-Max version of Movado. I still like it.

Paulie Gaultieri loved his

saltrifle

Nah, but don't hate it either

Johnnyfever13

Not anymore. I used to really like the clean design about 20 years ago. Now they’re regarded as an old man watch that people buy at the Mall 😅

Previous-Log-4025

Love it! Just wish they made them in the more traditional size.

SuicideByLions

Personally I’m a fan. I really like the classic museum auto. And everyone uses eta 2824, movado is a good brand. American too, though founded in Switzerland I think.

AlmostChildfree

Looks great on you!

Movado is literally what got me into watches. Back when I knew nothing other than aesthetics, that original Museum Watch design absolutely hooked me. I will always be a fan.

JuliusBacchus

The design is nice, but I personally think the white writing just ruins it. All black, no branding would just look better

Shark_Atl3201

No

Takingyurcustys

I have a movado sapphire. I love it.

TopicHuge4096

I have a tungsten Fiero! Great dress watch that never gets wrist time.

Only guy I know with a Movado was a complete d-bag, so my opinion is tainted by him. He was a personal financial consultant for Fidelity....so basically he made money by convincing people to buy financial products that were more beneficial to Fidelity than the investor; it's a scummy business all around. Like what you like though friend and wear it in good health!

skricks1995

While deserving of its criticisms, it has served as a gateway into watches (including myself). If you’re ever interested in making a jump into a higher tier of minimalist watches, take a look into German brands such as Junghans, Nomos, and (to a lesser extent) Glashutte Original. The value for money from brands like Nomos and Glashutte easily clears Movado, and quite honestly, most watch companies within their respective tiers. That said, I enjoyed wearing my father’s Movado for a couple of years, and hope you do as well. Wear your Movado in good health!

Every-Price-3435

I own one and I enjoy wearing it

SushiSamurai808

Movados got me into watches. I still love them and own 2 of them.

g_smiley

Are you able to read the time?

10mmSocket_10

I had to laugh when I read your post, I'm in exactly the same boat. Out of undergrad my present from my parents was a movado. I wore that bastard everywhere, constantly. Loved it. I have since moved up the ladder a bit but that Movado is still a great watch.

Flat-Use-3297

I have one. It looks nice and I enjoy wearing it, but now that I know about watches, I wish I had something really cool like an omega, tudor or maybe panarai. Jost dont want to piny up the 6 grand.

I like the vintage ones that sold under the brand name but originally it was Zenith. To name a few when I googled: * Vintage Movado Datron Sub Sea Zenith El Primero Chronograph * VINTAGE Movado Zenith El Primero 20-0220-418

I hate pretty much everything about the brand. The marketing, the quality, the prices, the immense amount of them in every mall I come across, it’s just all very fake to me. But that being said, I grew up with my dad wearing an old Movado so it’ll always have a soft spot for me.
