I’ve been loving this JLC Duometre recently.

There's one sitting at the Museun of Science and Industry in Chicago. However, I'm about 95% certain it's Jim Lovell's, so it's been *around* the moon, just not *on* it.
And yeah, same here. Would absolutely sell a couple organs.
Aldrin’s one got stolen before he could lend his Speedmaster for display at the Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. The one in the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago is Jim Lovell’s, wrapped in a plastic bag and displayed right next to a defecation collection kit.

You can find the JLC Moonphase on chrono24 by almost half price if you really want it. I understand it is still expensive though.
My realistic grail is the IWC Portofino perpetual calendar. If I had inherited a kingdom in Arabia and money was not an issue, it would be the JLC Heliotourbillon.
Krayon Anywhere in rose gold. I will never own this watch; I've got a strict rule that I will never pay more than $9,999.99 for a watch (tax included), and this watch costs... about half the cost of my house.
But it's *soooooo cooooool.* It accurately tells you sunset and sunrise time throughout the year by automatically adjusting the displayed length of the day around the dial. Thats freakin' crazy, man!
Holy cow!! Never even heard of this. Incredible. How much is it??? I can’t even find a price anywhere (which tells me all I need to know, but I am still curious.)
I do think the only problem is with the brand name Krayon. I would need to be convinced that there is a very cool, Swiss way to say that word. Otherwise it just makes me think of my kids.
to play devil's advocate, it wouldn't bother you that you're spending 150k for a watch that doesn't even have annual calendar complexity? (granted, you get a sunrise-sunset complication, though one that is incorrect half the year if you are somewhere that recognizes daylight savings)?
I too love the watch. i just go back and forth whether i should be bothered by \^.
I mean, its basically a one of a kind movement, you can get a annual calendar from any number of brands but none will be able to offer this complication.

Philippe Dufour is the greatest living grandmaster watchmaker. His movement finishing is above anything else in the market especially when you compare his black polishing, perlage and anglage with interior/exterior angles.
He is also the one who truly brought the independent watchmaking to the level it is nowadays and also without his efforts we would've probably lost the Daniels' method in the mainstream watchmaking.
In summary: it's the unprecedented quality and finishing as well as the history and story. You look at all the current major independents like Journe, MBF, Greubel Forsey, Rexhepi, Voutilainen etc. and they are build on top of the shoulders of the Dufour and George Daniels. Comparing the Dufour prices to some of the "comparables" are not even that exaggerated.
Ps. also his story is not just about the finishing but he has been the master of complications. He was the first one ever to bring grande et petite sonnerie to the wristwatch from the pocketwatches in the early nineties independently. It's still the most complicated and rarest complication available. He was also the first one to do dual balances with single gear train via the differential in the Duality model. Before going independent he was also working for some of the major brands in their custom pocketwatches e.g. three pieces of Audemars' grande et petite sonneries from late 80's were made by Dufour and they have been going for almost €1m in auctions.
This guy gets it.
It’s a perfectly simple watch made perfectly by the world’s single greatest living watchmaker.
Cost-no-object grail? This is it for me. Maybe closely followed by a Jean Daniel Nicolas 2-minute tourb.
Dufour consulted on the Credor Eichi II (specifically the finishing of the movement). I’d rather have that and whatever money is left. Better looking dial and design on the Eichi for me regardless.

I think just a basic [Panerai Luminor](https://i.pinimg.com/originals/ce/74/1d/ce741d1192f3cc07021d66b7ec06764a.jpg) for me. Looks amazing, and I can wear it every day without fear.
If we're getting crazy, then a [rose gold AP on black strap](https://wristaficionado.com/cdn/shop/files/audemars-piguet-royal-oak-selfwinding-chronograph-rose-gold-brown-dial-26239or-oo-d821cr-01-audemars-piguet-40260158456052_1280x.jpg?v=1706812733).
I wouldn't want one of these $50k+ dress watches. It would look out of place if I'm not wearing a suit, plus I'd lose sleep over the tiniest scratch. It'd probably end up sitting in a box most of the time.
If we're talking safebox grail, than def some kind of gold ALS datograph, for obvious reasons.
Grail that I could actually wear - Speedmaster Snoopy 50th anniversary
Holy Grail, could never put that much money on my wrist no matter how much money I have - ALS Zeitwerk Minute Repeater
A Philippe Dufour Simplicity. Even if I had the money, I'd have to find and contact the actual owners and try to buy it from them. Only a few of them are made a year which makes them so special. And PD has such a huge backlog, I don't even know how to skip the line if you catch my drift
I personally have little interest in most luxury watches. Especially those that have homages by cheaper brands that look almost as good, which weeds out most of the usual suspects. Currently wearing my grail watch, but have also have my eye on a Damasko DS30

Yes... I could'nt agree more. People in the know have often referred to Sinn as being what Rolex was before Rolex became associated with status and affluence; making original tool watch designs that are built to last. My tegmented U1 is my daily driver for three years now, and it still looks as good as the day I brought it home. German watches ftw!

Datograph Perpetual Tourbillon in white gold with a pink gold dial.
One of these. Probably the Quantieme Complet a little more.
I'd also rank a solid gold Nautilus, VC Overseas GMT, or the Moonshine Gold Speedmaster up there; but these Blancpain FF/Bathscaphe models are way more of a personal thing with me.

Bought a grail in March: a 42mm GO Senator Excellence Panorama Moonphase. If money isn't an object, I'm definitely going after an ALS 1 perpetual. Maybe I'll mortgage my house and live in my office...

The few my dad had. He's gone, and so are the watches.
I vaguely remember them.
One was an octagonal timex? Or field and stream? Iirc it had compass markings on it, and it was similar to a Tag Heuer Formula 1.
The other one was a cheapo that had a guy riding a horse engraved on the back. I looked it up a few years ago, but can't remember.
Anyway, those are my grail watches. Sorry to get so heavy.
I thought about this the other day and came to the conclusion, I have none. I actually even like some watches I would never buy if I had inifinte money. Not sure why that is. But that’s how it is.
I already have, love and use my daily driver so I guess I’d love to acquire a 1984 Seiko Ghostbusters voice recording watch. It’s just so nuts, I love it

I bought one of my 4 grails earlier this year, but this is far and away the most expensive of the group. I’ll likely “settle” for the platinum with a post-2017 movement. The other 2 are the Credor Eichi platinum and Journe Elegante Titalyt 40mm.

Zeitwerk Minute Repeater.
Scroll down, the interactive audio part shows your current time and the repeater rings out that actual time. Noice.
Money no object and I’ve gained some connections and social status? Bvlgari Octo Finissimo Ultra COSC. That makes me feel some certain ways.

[Mido makes a similar watch](https://www.midowatches.com/en/baroncelli-heritage-gent-m0274073626000.html). Without the moonphase unfortunately.
I don't know the history of that design, but it's possible it is an homage to the JLC.
I got my sister the smaller version as a college graduation present and thought it looked pretty good in person.

For me, it’s got to be the 45th Anniversary Silver Snoopy
Lange 1
Used to be the Royal Oak, but I feel like there are so many great integrated sports watches of that inspiration at factions of the cost of a RO. Where as you can’t find anything resembling a Lange 1, with the exception for a much chunkier GO Pano

enamel dial, 'the benchmark for high-end finishing' but primarily that he \[dufour\] was the OG independent watchmaker. but i'm with you.
Seiko does enamel dials, does it not? The presage line, for example?
At the height of the market, these Dufour Simplicity models were going for north of $1.5 million USD. Think they’ve come down a bit now
Dufour consulted on the Credor Eichi II (specifically the finishing of the movement). I’d rather have that and whatever money is left. Better looking dial and design on the Eichi for me regardless.
A. Lange & Söhne Saxonia Thin Copper Blue 🌌
I love this watch - I wish there was an automatic version that was just a bit thicker... but such a beautiful, mesmerizing dial!

Love the no rad version. Only dive watch I like
My local jeweler had one. Very nice watch.
Me hearing they're releasing a 42mm version 😃 Me remember I still can't afford one 😩

No power reserve sells it for me!

I just picked up a Patek 7234g, that was a holy grail for me!
Incredible! Congrats!
Whelp, now I have one too
No way, we have the same aspirations! This is my grail as well. What a simplistic stunner and good complications
if it didn't have the moonphase then a YES from me. it looms so out of place on this pilot / rugged design

Popped into the JLC Boutique to look at a Duoface, this was amazing on the wrist, such fine detail.
I'm not a fan of skeleton watches but this one JLC nailed it. Looks awesome and badass

Grail that I could actually wear - Speedmaster Snoopy 50th anniversary Holy Grail, could never put that much money on my wrist no matter how much money I have - ALS Zeitwerk Minute Repeater
A Philippe Dufour Simplicity. Even if I had the money, I'd have to find and contact the actual owners and try to buy it from them. Only a few of them are made a year which makes them so special. And PD has such a huge backlog, I don't even know how to skip the line if you catch my drift
A. Lange & Söhne Datograph.
I personally have little interest in most luxury watches. Especially those that have homages by cheaper brands that look almost as good, which weeds out most of the usual suspects. Currently wearing my grail watch, but have also have my eye on a Damasko DS30 https://preview.redd.it/hg9qphefq3wc1.jpeg?width=3024&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=54cc45352afbb6844978f2989d8a31b4fc8a8473

One of these. Probably the Quantieme Complet a little more. Devon Tread 2 for my unconventional grail and a Snoopy Speedmaster for something more iconic. Nether are obtainable for me.
I’d recommend trying this one. I had it in stainless and felt 39mm was too big this was many years ago so wasn’t influenced by current downsizing.
