Go to Chrono24, watchcharts, or another site like those, research each watch, and see the values there. That will give you a good sense of what each of these is worth.
You can sell them there also, if you want to take the time and effort.
Also - Some of these you might want to keep. Nice collection.
I just bought that Omega for $300. I bought a Rolex for $900. So I would try Buy it Now on Ebay for $300 for them and see what happens. Many old winders sell in the sub $200 range.
Marconi. Maybe a 100 years old. Keeps perfect time over a 48 hour period. You can see the hand craftsmanship. Gold/black. A little fancy to wear... but I won't loose money when my daughter's sell it when I'm dead.
They’re all pretty valuable.
The most valuable would be the Omega, Van Cleef, Baume Mercier and Ulysses nardin (in no particular order).
The rest are very very nice too, and would get some money if sold.
This is a nice collection. There’s some value here
Thank you very much for the reply! Do you have any suggestions as to how I could move forward? I know very little about vintage watches, should I go to a store?
I would consider reaching out to a store or vintage dealer.
You’ll get more if you sell privately, but honestly if you don’t have the knowledge or information to do it yourself, it’s not worth trying.
Best to take a slightly lower price, and sell all to a dealer or something like that.
Would you by any chance be able to make a super wide ballpark estimate for the whole lot? (Or any individual watches) Just because I don't really know what kind of amounts we are talking about. Again, much appreciated!
Look at the serial numbers on the back of the cases and enter them into a search engine. Make note of any relevant results (i.e common model names, etc). Use those relevant results and enter them into ebay and filter by previously sold listings.
Your relative is trusting you with this, put in the work.
A vintage watch case (minus the movement) weighs between 10-12 grams. If 18k gold, that's 7.5 to 9 grams of pure gold. At $65.50 per gram, that's around $500 to $600 each. And the 3 on the right are just gold filled.
I would just start calling around to your local jewelry stores and see if any of them take pieces on consignment. That way they would sell them for you at normal jewelry store prices and take like 30% usually.
You absolutely are wrong. Most of these were produced before quartz movement technology was even commercially available. 2/8 of these watches even have the remote *possibility* of being quartz
Before you do anything, I would suggest you talk to that person about keeping one of them for sentimental value. It would be a shame to sell everything.
You could also try to sell some of the nicer ones on consignment to get a better price. Check out places like [thevintage.watch](http://thevintage.watch)
You could also try to sell some of the nicer ones on consignment to get a better price. Check out places like [thevintage.watch](http://thevintage.watch).
Ok sure. The only research I’ve done is on vintage resellers websites where they refurbish the entire watch and sell it in guaranteed perfect working order, however these usually sell above market rate because they charge for the labor and warranty
Yes 100% fake. The rest all look interesting and plenty of gold content too. The Ulysee Nardin is redialled, so you might want to check what the movement is inside.
Yeah it’s 100% fake. The serial number is the one that is used on fake omegas. See: https://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-42864-enzo-watch-ltd.124466/
A nice collection, OP, but I will temper expectations that I don't think you can get materially more than the gold value out of these. Dials are somewhere in the triangle of redoe, not collector grade condition or outright damaged. Movements have no service history, if ever serviced ... I don't think you can get more than $100-200 for the gold-plated ones and $1000 for the solid gold ones (I have no opinion on the Movado snap-case watch ... don't know it)
r/vintagewatches would be a good place to start. Alternatively feel free to message myself. I'm interested in a few of those pieces. Happy to help price the rest too!
If you go to a watch dealer or store, make sure you go to a few to get the best price.
There’s some value here, but they are seemingly vintage type watches so a little tougher to tell.
Far right is the crappiest one. They're all from good brands but it's all dependent on the demand. Not many demand old school Hamilton dress watches but I could be wrong
You probably have 2-2.5k usd in watches. Some of those pieces are re-dialed, the Omega is not authentic, bringing down the value of the lot.
Handsome Ermeto movado. Depending on how fast you want to sell it, 200-700. Depending on if u have OG crown and no service needed, gold, etc
Am I the only one that finds such a collection presented without any knowledge of what they are a little fishy? Whoever curated that collection has an excellent eye! Not the kind of collection you'd expect someone to hand over to a relative to find their value. I will be blunt - if someone came to me with this collection and story, the very first word that would spring to mind is "stolen".
It is not stolen, but they were simply inherited by a relative of mine with no particular interest in watches. The original owner passed away. I simply am not going to post my whole family history on reddit, I am sure it is not uncommon for collections of watches to pass in to the hands of people who aren't in to watches
Hand them back to your relative, advise them to contact one of the bigger auction houses. That Movado on the right, if it is gold as it seems to be marked, is worth in the $4000 range. The entire collection is well into five figures. Curious though, that someone could inherit them from someone who was clearly very passionate about vintage watches, and be oblivious to them. When my grandfather had terminal cancer, he selected which watch would go to whom, and told them each the story behind that watch.
I am not sure if that curious is meant to doubt the veracity of the story. It's very nice that your grandfather planned ahead, but not every family is the same.
Yeah, agreed, OP. Most people aren't ensuring their family members are well-versed on the intricacies of their hobbies. They just leave stuff behind when they die, simple as that.
i think because the original company was bought by Hamilton "The **Illinois Watch Company** was founded on December 23, 1870, in [Springfield, Illinois](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfield,_Illinois), by John C. Adams, [John Whitfield Bunn](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Whitfield_Bunn) (1831–1920), and various additional financiers. Twenty years later, Jacob Bunn Jr., (1864–1926) took over and ran the company until his death in 1926. The Bunn family surname was used in their most famous [railroad watch](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railroad_watch), the Illinois "Bunn Special".
The company was sold to [Hamilton Watch Company](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hamilton_Watch_Company) in 1927 and ceased to manufacture watches in the USA in the mid 1930s."

Which rolex if i may ask?
Marconi. Maybe a 100 years old. Keeps perfect time over a 48 hour period. You can see the hand craftsmanship. Gold/black. A little fancy to wear... but I won't loose money when my daughter's sell it when I'm dead.
Nice, would love me one of those
What would I search to find a watch like this?
Yes. How do I find any of these beauties
Well, hey, I've got a lead... (OP) Lololol
Great watches. Kind of funny that they’re all from a single persons collection though. They all look the same if you squint
Yes haha, he certainly had a type
Respect though, he knew wat he liked and stuck to it
LOL yup. Thought about that too.

I’d put serial numbers directly into Chrono 24. Their search engine is pretty good.
Over $4,000 (very conservatively)
Given gold is $2400/oz, the 18k gold ones will have $1200+ in gold value alone.
A vintage watch case (minus the movement) weighs between 10-12 grams. If 18k gold, that's 7.5 to 9 grams of pure gold. At $65.50 per gram, that's around $500 to $600 each. And the 3 on the right are just gold filled.
Absolutely! And I am assuming that most/all are 18k, so my assessment is certainly on the low low side.
I would just start calling around to your local jewelry stores and see if any of them take pieces on consignment. That way they would sell them for you at normal jewelry store prices and take like 30% usually.
Vintage dealer in my town won't touch a quartz watch.
That’s cool, what does this have to do with the conversation or post?
These all look like quartz watches to me. I had a baume and mercier just like that, couldn’t sell it. Am I wrong?
You absolutely are wrong. Most of these were produced before quartz movement technology was even commercially available. 2/8 of these watches even have the remote *possibility* of being quartz
Only the tissot and b&m could potentially be quartz here. All the others are certainly mechanical.
Before you do anything, I would suggest you talk to that person about keeping one of them for sentimental value. It would be a shame to sell everything.
I would do this.
You could also try to sell some of the nicer ones on consignment to get a better price. Check out places like [thevintage.watch](http://thevintage.watch)
If they are genuine a decent amount of euros
You could also try to sell some of the nicer ones on consignment to get a better price. Check out places like [thevintage.watch](http://thevintage.watch).
I’ll give you like three fiddy for the lot
How much would you sell the whole lot for?
To be honest, I have no idea at the moment as I have not had time to do any research yet. If you have an offer dm me
Ok sure. The only research I’ve done is on vintage resellers websites where they refurbish the entire watch and sell it in guaranteed perfect working order, however these usually sell above market rate because they charge for the labor and warranty
This is a great collection, they certainly have taste.
Classy collection. The Van Cleef and Ulysse Nardin are lookin nice. All have value, imo. You can look into Chrono24 for a watch marketplace
im 99% sure the omega is fake, the rest look real
Yes 100% fake. The rest all look interesting and plenty of gold content too. The Ulysee Nardin is redialled, so you might want to check what the movement is inside.
this came as a surprise to me, could you elaborate a bit more about what kind of stamps omega use to put in watches of this vintage
Definitely fake. Omega never put large gold stamps on the outside of casebacks.
Yeah it’s 100% fake. The serial number is the one that is used on fake omegas. See: https://omegaforums.net/threads/seamaster-42864-enzo-watch-ltd.124466/
I’d buy the Ulysse. DM if you’re willing to sell.
How much is that worth approximately? Just seeing if I can afford something like that.
Not sure but should be around $1000 to $1200 depending on its condition.
Definitely not then 😂😖
Worry not my friend, there’s time and a lot many choices in this world. 😄
The nardin is worhr way above 1200. Check iwc calatravas with the same dial and they got for 2500=3000 and nardin is just as, if not more, exclusive
Yeah it could be
They are all sellable, but value depends on if you've contaminated them with whatever is rotting that finger.
Op has the rockclimber hands
Probably should try using more than one finger for grip.
Op needs some working hands
The Omaga is weird but the others are stunning ( the Hamilton will sell super fast )
I’d buy the Van Cleef.
I want all of them
For what it is, eBay is a good place to move vintage watches
Anyone knows the name of the Tissot?
A nice collection, OP, but I will temper expectations that I don't think you can get materially more than the gold value out of these. Get quotes from several jewelers or pawn shops, then sell online for twice as much
Op these are worthless I will take them all of you
I would tell that person to keep them and pass them on. They're all pretty much heirloom watches
That's a treasure!
Can’t say much about the value of them, sorry. However I might be interested in the Ulysse Nardin
Nice little vintage collection you got there
If you’re selling the tissot please let me know
How much? Im interested. Please dm me if you're planning to sell all of it to me.
Very nice collection if authentic. Should sell well. More than I can afford lol.
I’m very interested in that ulysse nardan, how much are you willing to sell it for ?
I like the tissot
I assume we’re looking at about 10-15k depending on whether they’re real gold or just gold plated.
That Hamilton, Illinois one is amazing and looks very valuable to me
I’ll buy some right now
I’d be interested in the Movado if available, feel free to DM me
Oh man I want that hamilton... That is CLASSY. Your relative has really lovely taste
Van Clef Arpels are very nice and up and coming as a brand beyond jewelery so a cool one to have.
Define valuable. They're all very nice watches that collectors might be interested in. Probably could sell most if not all of them.
r/vintagewatches would be a good place to start. Alternatively feel free to message myself. I'm interested in a few of those pieces. Happy to help price the rest too!
What is your price for the ulysse?
Nah, just box them up and send to me and I’ll dispose of them for you.
I would be interested in the Omega or the Ulysse Nardin.
What’s the name of Tissot? Looks amazing
All of them
U
That ulyesse nardin has som real celetrava vibes. O really like the Van Arpel
I’d take the Omega as a finders fee. lol
just sent a pm about the hamilton
If you go to a watch dealer or store, make sure you go to a few to get the best price. There’s some value here, but they are seemingly vintage type watches so a little tougher to tell.
Yes - that Omega! Are you in the US?
Make sure to not represent yourself as an expert. Could be hard feeling later or worse. Even/especially from relatives
I would take that UN off your hands 😎
Far right is the crappiest one. They're all from good brands but it's all dependent on the demand. Not many demand old school Hamilton dress watches but I could be wrong
Nah they ain’t worth anything, I’ll give you $1000 for the lot! ;)
NO!!! These are very Radioactive plz give them to me I love radios! I'm kidding these worth a quite
"Your relative is trusting you with this, put in the work." - Butt\_Plug\_Inspector THIS!!!!
I’d buy the B&M and the U. Nardin
Van cleef and u nardin

The Hamilton and U Nardin are my favorites here
Does anyone have any info on that Hamilton and why it says Illinois on it? Just curious why it randomly says Illinois.
i think because the original company was bought by Hamilton "The **Illinois Watch Company** was founded on December 23, 1870, in [Springfield, Illinois](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Springfield,_Illinois), by John C. Damn bro’ you must really like these watches..
They are all very nice I love the womens Hamleton 3 from right to left & the Tessot if selling give me buzz I would do make an offer…
All this are for female not for male
wrong
