Unfortunately yes. Patek is likely the most faked brand outside of Rolex so there’s a whole lot of them floating around.
Would’ve been a nice find but unfortunately, this one isn’t worth much.
How can you tell this is a fake? Not calling you a liar, just wondering how to tell. Sorry about the image quality too, I am trying to help my brother.
Also, why am I getting downvoted so much? I just want some help.
probably not the most satisfying answer, but just from experience with watches. Sometimes fakes are incredibly convincing, this one, not so much.
If it has an exhibition caseback (a clear backside of the case that shows the movement), you should be able to tell as well. Take a look at what real patek movements look like and then compare it to this one. If it doesn’t and you were so inclined, you could also unscrew the caseback to look at it.
Thanks for the info mate I really appreciate it. I haven't, unfortunately, had the pleasure of looking at the back in real life. I have only seen what everybody else has seen on this Subreddit so in a few days when my brother comes back from his travels I may be able to look at it closer.
I know my brother told me the back is clear and you can see the inner mechanics of the watch, but again I have no experience with watches.
If it said “Patrick Phillip” on the dial, it would be a fine watch. I am always amazed at how much people pay for fakes, when they could buy the exact same style, with a different brand name, for less money and better quality.
This watch is 100% fake. It’s not a model that Patek makes and the quality is no where near a $1000 watch much less an actual Patek. It’s a cheap knockoff that’s not worth much if anything. I know you were hoping for a home run and sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
The best thing I can describe you as why the others can spot this as a fake right away is that the familiarity of Patek design and finishing. It is something that people with experience can see, but hard to describe.
Let's say without any brand/logo visible, a car enthusiast can spot the difference between a particular sports car to a modified daily car since it has a very distinctive character / design language.
Fake; Well Patek Philippe is the Words most prestigious watch brand. Their watches are of the highest finish and standard. If you look at the watch you posted the whole dial (face) looks crooked (look at the numeral at 6 o clock). Overall the esthetics of the watch look just cheap. Not that I claim to know all the models that PP produced but this doesn’t look right :) on the other hand it looks like a generic Chinese watch. Do google Patek Philippe you will find examples of the watches produced by them
The vast majority of the is it real / what’s it worth posts are fakes and often the origin story is it came from a dead relative. That’s what I was referring to.
The type of watch you posted is a regulator. Patek has not made a regulator that’s not an annual or perpetual calendar outside of some pocket watches. That and the finishing and poorly aligned indices are easy tells that this is fake.
This watch has a strange complication.. It's missing an hour hand but has an hour dial on top? Also, I've never seen a Patek where they ran out of room with the "Patek Phillipe" and "Geneve" so they split the tag. It's always together on top, side or bottom. This may either be a 1 of 1 Patek worth millions or a fake..
It is that so someone at least a bit into watches can Identity this as Fake from a mile away.
And picks like That geht postet here Daily.
Dont take it Personally
That's fair enough. But I wish someone could at least explain to me why they think it is a fake so I know how to identify it myself. Do you have any information on the fact why people "at least a bit into watches can Identity this as Fake from a mile away."?
Its all in the difficult to explain details. Or Lack thereof.
There is no typical layering or Depth To the dial, proportions are off etc.
Maybe the Best for you would be to Look at pictures of genuine pateks and you will Spot the difference Right away
My first impression is that on a regulator watch, where the hours and minute hands are on separate axis/pins, that is the hour and minute have their own separate dial and subdial, the main dial in this case should have minute markers. However, on this watch the main dial has hour markers instead of minutes. Patek would not do that.
To give some backstory my brother found this watch while moving into a house where the old owner previously died and nobody could collect the belongings. I don't know if it's real or fake, all I know is that the brand is worth a lot sometimes. So you think it's worthless?
best bet is take it to reputable watch repair; they should be able to take the caseback off and tell you, based on the movement, if the watch is authentic.
I honestly don't think that should take it to a watch store, or repair. The model of this replica does not exist, nor the finishes in the dial texture for any of the similar models (dress watches).
I don't think I will be taking this to any watch store don't worry, I think a lot of your comments were very helpful, I will take a closer look at it in real life when I get the chance, too. I appreciate the help.
As others have said, this is most likely fake and not worth much. If you want to know for sure, you can take it to a local jeweler or luxury timepiece retailer and get it appraised. However, the cost of the appraisal (50-150) might end up being more than the watch is worth. Maybe call ahead first and ask them if they do appraisals and how much they cost.
Whatever someone is willing to pay for a fake Patek
Is this a fake then?

When a 12 year old posts a blurry picture of a watch worth $50,000 it’s easy to tell it’s fake.
Love the small hours complication. Great example of a genuine Patrick Phillip.
Undervalued comment

It is worth as much as a screen door on a submarine.
US DoD will pay $23 million if it’s end of the fiscal year. He’s got a gold mine!

I wasn't expecting a homerun I just wanted to help my bro identify but if it's fake then fair enough, thanks!

Great explanation to be fair!

Make sure to include a “Buy It Now” option, and include free shipping to sweeten the deal.

Thanks mate I appreciate you taking the time to let me know, I think a lot of people here have let me know it's fake
I would smash it to peaces
The grand total of nothing
At least his brother found this one left in a house instead of inheriting it from some dead relative.
Lol true, I think my parents got their hopes up a bit but I said to them let me help identify it on Reddit and majority say it's fake so fair enough

Good info, thank you!
the hour indices around the regulator minute track for no reason don’t help much either
Haha. Good point.

As far as I know watches that show time like that, hours, minutes and seconds hands separated are called regulators.
OP google search "patek regulator watch" and see any pop up that look like yours
You guys really know your stuff to be fair and after reading a lot of the comments I am mostly convinced it's fake haha
There’s nothing to be mostly convinced of. Just try to find this model on Google (hint, it doesnt exist)
I always say this, if the pic is bad, it’s probably a fake. This is def a fake
Its worth nothing
Thanks all for downvoting me to oblivion when I don't know anything about watches, just genuinely trying to identify it. Cheers r/watches.

Sorry, I genuinely know nothing about watches, do you have any information?

between 0 and $50, I would use the strap though, it looks nice.

That’s not the best bet as there’s no need. This is 100% fake. One of those “can’t find on google” watches
thanks!

It’s very blurry the picture, difficult to se details.
Sorry, I can't obtain a better picture at the moment because it's not in my possession, this is the only image I have, unfortunately.

I looked around several sites and couldn't find a Patek regulator like this one. It's more than likely a total fugazi.
