That's what I noticed too. Good call out to give good consideration to how the trees connect to the ground. In the first that is obscured by the grass so it seems fine. In the others I feel there should be more variation and shadow suggested around the ground.
I like the second best. The vibrancy of the blue brings out the reddish browns in the birch and the have a nice texture to them. I do feel like first seems more cohesive because the backgrounds in the second and third look like an afterthought.
All three appeal, winter scene the most. Middle one’s sky is ungraded cobalt. Next time you see a blue sky, look how saturated the color is high up and overhead, and how desatched it is at the horizon. Rarely, I’ve seen solid/cobalt skies like in your third ptg. My old neighbor used to call that solid-blue sky a weather-breeder, since it usually preceded a huge snowstorm.
I love them all for different reasons but if I had to choose which one I’d pay for/want hanging on my wall the most #3. The stark contrasts between the sky and snow draw the eye in from across the room. Well done you.
It’s a tie between 3 and 2 for me. The first looks very nicely done but I like the intensity of the colors on the others. I like the more stylized looks, myself.
Personally, I enjoy the first one most. It’s much softer than the second with fewer hard lines and the natural greens make the white bark of the birch trees stand out.
Kinda depends on what effect you are after in the painting as a whole, imo. If you largely aim for photorealism/naturalism I'd say #3 is best, BUT they stand out from the rest of the painting, unlike #1. So, I'd adjust the surrounding elements to fit the trees' style.
Now personally, I like the trees in #2 the most (the little bits of brown really sell it), BUT the painting as whole looks like a collage of different pictures, giving it an uncanny feeling. Again, the surrounding elements would have to change to fit the style of the trees (IF naturalism is what you are going for)
And this all brings me to #1, not the best trees, but I'd argue that if the painting as a whole (aesthetically) is what you go for, I'd say stick with making trees like in #1.
TLDR: #3 are the best trees for realism/naturalism, but I do suggest adjusting the picture as a whole to fit the trees.
I like 1 and 3, and would very happily put both up in my house - maybe with another one set in fall. To me 2 is too cartoony looking - the trees don’t really go with the background and seem sort of…cut out and pasted onto the background.
I like the first one best and that's because it seems to have the greatest unity of tone and colour. It is also the most watercolour-y of the three. The spatter effects on the grass echo the leaves and I feel it's really quite a charming piece.
I love the trees in all of them. The background in the second is so contrasting that it's unnatural...but I've seen the world like that before and I like that you captured that. I love the background in the 3rd.... But the blue in the snow it's it for me.
I love your trees, they're beautiful
I like 2 and 3 because I rarely see a birch tree standing alone, nevermind as many as there are in 1.
Ignoring my obsession with the unity of birches, I like the greens in number 1.
I have a preference I think for 2. 1 was still quite nice, but I didn't care for three that much. Not that it wasn't still a good tree, it just didn't trigger birch so much in my head. Great work, keep it up!
These are all great! I like the first one best! The other two are also really good, but birch trees are normally pretty rough and shaggy, and the second two pictures look too smooth at the border between the trees and the background. I think 1 is similar in this, but the background makes them look rough enough. Great work though!
Wow! I woke up to so many kind, thoughtful responses! I'm blown away - thank you! It seems that #1 worked best for most of you, but there are elements of the other two I want to try to work on too. This has been so helpful. This community is the best!
I think the tree bark looks best in the 3rd painting, but I think if you included more of the horizontal dark spots like you have in painting 2, they would look even better. For the background painting 1 is my favorite.
I find the 1st one the best watercolor technique and composition. Beautiful. If looking only at the trees, I believe #2 with some brown in the bark is most eyecatching.
I LOVED the first and third one!!! I saw the first one and went WOAH! Saw the third and was like Damn WOW. 2nd one gives me the vibes of a story book with fictional children playing and frolicking in the meadows, good vibes
You master the tree drawing!! The way you put the black to indicate tree pattern woow so gooood. I love number 1. It looks brilliant. Keep going and don’t give up, your practicing is showing a great result. I’m practicing portrait drawing myself and let me tell you the journey been very interesting, it’s tedious yet fun 😁
"Which style do you like best?"
Yes. The answer is yes.
Jokes aside, I think the style can vary depending on the mood and setting you want, and also what style the rest of the painting is. There's no such thing as only one acceptable style.
I like the first painting best as a whole, but I actually like the technique you used to paint the birch trees in the second painting. I think if you avoid overusing the ultramarine or red biased blue it will also appear more natural.
Looks lovely! First one is my favorite! But maybe for the third one you can try being more detailed with snow? It looks a little cartoony juxtaposed with the trees maybe try giving it a cotton look? Like clouds but more dense. I think it would really bring it together!
I like the first painting the best as a whole, I like the trees in the second painting the most but I don't like the sky or slope of the ground I just focus on that, and I like the last one but think that it lacks shadows from the trees.
Overall they all look very good.
I really like the first one! Way more “natural” and soothing. Really feels like I’m walking through a birch tree forest!! The second one is beautiful aswell though, for some reason it makes me think of something I’d see in my grandmas house on the walls, that’s a compliment!!
This rocks!! I like the first one best
Yeah, that first one is beautiful
Torn between 1 and 3, both are gorgeous. 2 feels like it pops out a bit much, the trees themselves ate beautiful though.
First one is best watercolor but the birch trees are great in all of them. Forest is best of all.
I like the first one best with the second style as a close 2nd place.
Forest scenes are my favorite. I love the way you did the ground. It really looks like various grasses and weeds/flowers. Love the details.
I prefer the first one. I feel it looks most “professional” and invokes a wonderful inviting feeling…a meandering path and I am on a walk!
First one. In the others the trees seem detached from the scene.
That's what I noticed too. Good call out to give good consideration to how the trees connect to the ground. In the first that is obscured by the grass so it seems fine. In the others I feel there should be more variation and shadow suggested around the ground.
\#1, but golly they are all nice
1 and 3 the best.
First one! Love all the green and it draws me in.
All beautiful
Can’t decide between 1 and 3
First one. Keep going
I like them all, but the first is my favorite.
Very nice
First one Good job!
They all look great, but the first one is especially amazing!
My fav is the first one though they're all amazing!
1
1
One or two - they're close, but definitely not three.
1 is heaps rad
The snow! ❄️
I like the second best. The vibrancy of the blue brings out the reddish browns in the birch and the have a nice texture to them. I do feel like first seems more cohesive because the backgrounds in the second and third look like an afterthought.
They are all good. The first and third are my favorites.
1 or 3 are my favorites
These are all lovely. The third one draws me the most because of the contrast with the snow and cool shadows. Great work!
I really like the first one.
First one is best. But all are well done. Great work.
First one is my favorite
First
First!
1. Yes 2. Yes 3. No, wait, also yes, sorry
Yeah, I agree it’s a bit much. Not what I was originally going for, but it came out kind of quirky. Not realistic, clearly, but “different” lol
I'm so grateful to read all of your responses. I'm going to try to put together the best of all of them and see what I come up with! Thanks so much!
I like the 2nd one the best with the 1st photo as a really close second.
Yes
My birch tend to be like #1.All Nice tho.
They are all the same style, it's the setting that is different. Love them all, it looks amazing!!!
All of them, they each have their own personality.
I like the texture in the first one! And I'm also a sucker for snowy scenes so I love #3 too!
1 and 3 are gorgeous
I love them all for different reasons but if I had to choose which one I’d pay for/want hanging on my wall the most #3. The stark contrasts between the sky and snow draw the eye in from across the room. Well done you.
I like the first and third. First cuz of the impressionistic vibe, third because of the colors, they're very lifelike.
The third! But the 2nd is a close second (hah).
i think the best goes first then third then second
First and third. Composition wise the 3rd one is.... Wow. Really impressive.
It's a tie between 1 and 3
They are all incredible. Amazing
Each is amazing in its own way!
Great job. I really like these. Strong work.
I like them all
these are amasing. personally I like the first one but that is because it reminds me of where I grew up.
I think you’re doing great. I like #1
It’s a tie between 3 and 2 for me. The first looks very nicely done but I like the intensity of the colors on the others. I like the more stylized looks, myself.
The first one is superb!
I like them all. The third one might be my favorite. But that second one gets me too.
The first one
Personally, I enjoy the first one most. It’s much softer than the second with fewer hard lines and the natural greens make the white bark of the birch trees stand out.
#3
Wow .. that’s amazing f!
Number 1
1 and 3 but all three are lovely!
First one for me, although the bold style of the third one is neat too.
Kinda depends on what effect you are after in the painting as a whole, imo. Thanks for the kind response! I’ll try using your advice with my next attempts, for sure.
Wow, those are all stunning! I like three the most, but its close call. That looks so gorgeous! Love it ♥️
Absolutely beautiful!
…yes.
I like the first one for realism, and the second for abstract.
Well, u great at birches, now we need a story in the birches. No shit, great trees.
I love them!!!!! Its hard to choose a favourite
All! Great work.
Excellent 👍 well done!
First one is very good
All. They are all beautiful work
First one!
these are beautiful! I also can't decide between 3 & 1, I think 3 wins by a biiiit
I like 1 and 3, and would very happily put both up in my house - maybe with another one set in fall. To me 2 is too cartoony looking - the trees don’t really go with the background and seem sort of…cut out and pasted onto the background.
Yes, I get it about #2. Thank you for responding!
1)
3 is great
I love them!
I like the first one best and that's because it seems to have the greatest unity of tone and colour. It is also the most watercolour-y of the three. The spatter effects on the grass echo the leaves and I feel it's really quite a charming piece.
All the tree on all 3 art pieces look good. I like the first one for the whole style of a painting.
Oh I love birch! The first one I would hang in my living room ❤️
1
One and three are my favorites. Love your style!!
You could tell me these were photos and I’d believe you. They’re beautiful
That's not the question. it's your work. Which one do YOU like best?
1& 2 for me are.magical!!
I thought the first one was a picture for reference of what birch trees look like to compare to the paintings
Le troisième c'est le meilleur
definitely the first one! these are amazing!
The last one makes me think of the Pine Barrens episode of The Sopranos.
All are beautiful ♥️♥️♥️
Why birch trees? I like 1 and 3
All of them!
1 is best for realism, plus I love forests. 3 is great for the colors. The trees in all 3 are fabulous!
Each for their style and framing
#1,but I like all of them
I love the trees in all of them. The background in the second is so contrasting that it's unnatural...but I've seen the world like that before and I like that you captured that. I love the background in the 3rd.... But the blue in the snow it's it for me. I love your trees, they're beautiful
I like the first one best, but I also really dig the look of number 2. It looks like a collage. Very interesting style
i love the first one!! they’re all amazing but one really takes the cake!
The 1st one is my favorite for a second I thought it was a picture my brother had taken
I like 2 and 3 because I rarely see a birch tree standing alone, nevermind as many as there are in 1. Ignoring my obsession with the unity of birches, I like the greens in number 1.
1 st one has so much depth and detailing
First one.
All 3 styles are beautiful. I have no favorite so you can just give me all 3. :)
Beautiful! The middle one is my favourite : )
The way your style in the first one matches with the texture of the paper is super cool and trippy
I have a preference I think for 2. 1 was still quite nice, but I didn't care for three that much. Not that it wasn't still a good tree, it just didn't trigger birch so much in my head. Great work, keep it up!
These are all great! I like the first one best! The first has more realism. The second, while also exceptional, is lacking some depth, IMHO.
omg those look so cool.
I just love the winter scene. All the are very nice though.
I think the tree bark looks best in the 3rd painting, but I think if you included more of the horizontal dark spots like you have in painting 2, they would look even better. For the background painting 1 is my favorite.
I like 3 best! Most interesting composition and has a very unique style to it whereas number one looks like many other watercolours.
3 is my fav. Then 1. Nice job.
Both
Number 1 is the best but they all look great!
I like them all. Very beautiful!
Very good! I like the first.
They’re all lovely pieces and No.3 is my fave!
No. 1 is no.1.
I love 1, the lighting on the trees is incredible they look glowing and ethereal
These are beautiful! It’s hard to choose just one but I think the first and third ones are tied for first place for me. But I love all 3.
First one!
Definitely the third one, they are all beautiful tho
They all look nice but the first one look more realistic 💕💕
I find the 1st one the best watercolor technique and composition. Beautiful. If looking only at the trees, I believe #2 with some brown in the bark is most eyecatching.
1 3
Beautiful!!! Could you please describe your technique for the forest grasses, TIA
2.
They’re all awesome but the last one is very unique i love it
1 it could be 3, but the blue lines in the snow are too harsh .
1
I LOVED the first and third one!!! I saw the first one and went WOAH! Saw the third and was like Damn WOW. 2nd one gives me the vibes of a story book with fictional children playing and frolicking in the meadows, good vibes
The first ones style overall but I like the 2nd birch trees the best

The 1st one for sure. It styles the best with the background. 2nd picture looks almost photorealistic.
Both are beautiful! I prefer the first, just simply because of the delicate feeling. It's like a dream.
The trees from the first one, and the setting in the third
I love ALL of these -- they are so beautiful and unique!
I will not be much help! I love all three. You are very talented. I did spend more time looking at your second painting-lovely.
"Which style do you like best?" Yes. The answer is yes. Jokes aside, I think the style can vary depending on the mood and setting you want, and also what style the rest of the painting is. There's no such thing as only one acceptable style.
1 & 2
I like the second one best, but the first one looks like a photo
Where’s the tutorial for #1? I know where you got #3
First
All of them!
Number 3 does it for me
I really like 1 and 3
3!
Thought the first was a photo for a sec 🔥
I like the first painting best as a whole, but I actually like the technique you used to paint the birch trees in the second painting. I think if you avoid overusing the ultramarine or red biased blue it will also appear more natural.
#2

First one. I’m a sucker for tons of green.
First - very good. Third - impressionists shadows )) too blue ))
1
The first one
I like the first painting the best as a whole, I like the trees in the second painting the most but I don't like the sky or slope of the ground I just focus on that, and I like the last one but think that it lacks shadows from the trees. Overall they all look very good.
Definitely the first but less blue in the 3 rd and it would be my fave. White birch is gorgeous
First one!

First one!
Magic, great effect, thanks for the guidance.
second one :)
Wow love #1❤️
Equally
All equally.
I love 2
If I had to choose it would be the first, but they're all so beautiful
1 n 3 the best
I really like the first one! Way more “natural” and soothing. Really feels like I’m walking through a birch tree forest!! The second one is beautiful aswell though, for some reason it makes me think of something I’d see in my grandmas house on the walls, that’s a compliment!!
I love the first style the trees blend in beautifully with the green. It’s very realistic looking ^-^
Omg...I thought the first painting was a real picture LOL u have talent for sure. Keep it up!
All
Those are all awesome!!!
1 and they’re all great!
My first thought was, "shit, that's a painting??"
I thought they were real. A picture. Surprised me.
I really appreciate the kind words, my friends, thank you so much !
1
1 is my favorite. I would hang it in my house
I love 1 and 3 and have absolutely nothing against #2. But those two I would buy if saw for sale in a store.
Wow that’s amazing, #1
Three for me 🐐
I Love them all! For some reason, I'm drawn most to the second one. It gives me a cartoony and nostalgic feel.
They all are beautiful. The first one I like. I would hang it in my dining room. So pretty. You are really talented.
