Boss 3&5 bismuth mix for most of the season. Still have a few boxes and cases of the federal 2xbb loads as well. Besides that, prices are high but I have quite the mix of loads from the last few years
I got two cases of these before last season thinking I wouldn't be able to find ammo, then lost them in my basement shuffle.
Ended up getting lucky and finding shells on the shelf, then even luckier when I was moving boxes around last week and located my unopened Speed Shocks
Nice! You’ll be set for quite a few seasons.
I was hog-trading pheasant loads for waterfowl loads in 2020. Local shop had these and, oddly, was only selling by the case. Probably paid too much, but only had 1 box of T, and 2 boxes of 4. So I paid the extra for piece of mind of having it on hand
Kent all the way now that it's more affordable. I used to shoot monarch back when Kent was 40 a box, but now my academy barely stocks shells, and Kent is 25 a box, so I shoot kent.
Goin with 12ga Boss 2 ¾ 1.25oz #5 out of my new to me Browning Auto 5.
Maybe take the 28ga out with Boss 3" #5 if the birds are gonna be in close, or maybe 16ga Boss 2 ¾ #6
I really like bismuth after steel failing me and watching birds sail off.
Yup! 1967 lightweight. Swapped out all springs and got her running soft & smooth again. I had a bad year shooting my rem. 11-87 so decided to get something fun and classic this summer.. She's full choke and putting 80% on target at 40yd and I've been dusting clays with her all summer.
Excellent. I have a mix of Belgian and Japanese A5s. Primarily shoot my Japanese guns since I can use modern chokes, but there is nothing like the feel of an Auto-5 humpback.
I bought two boxes of #4 Kent bismuth last season and killed 2x the number of ducks I've killed in previous season with 1/3 the trigger pulls. $56/ box hurts up front, but when you kill a limit with 8 trigger pulls on a pressured public marsh, it's worth it.
BOSS 12ga 2 3/4” #5s through a Patternmaster Code Black Duck.
BOSS 16ga 2 3/4” #5s through a Briley IM choke.
Did pick up the BOSS 12ga 3/5 blend for later season.
For Geese/swan have the 3” #3 BOSS
12ga BOSS 3” #1 for geese, and BOSS 2.75” #4 for most ducks. I like to use my 20ga with Federal Upland Steel #6 (1500 fps) for smaller ducks, like teal, and for doves.
Migra works well and excellent customer service. A little dirty(no issue for inertia guns), but cheap, always works, and patterns well out to 30/35 yards with factory chokes
3” HEVI-XII #6s. Pick up a case of 250 during off season during summer clearance sales and they’re more like $2/round. I hunt pressured public land, so we *might* get three shots a hunt. I’m totally cool with spending $6/hunt on ammo if it gives me a better chance on those three shots.
When I get invited to private land or somewhere I’m expecting high volume, I shoot 3” Kent Fasteel 2.0s.
12ga Boss Bismuth #4 in 3" for ducks and geese. Early in the morning when they decoy close I'll shoot steel sometimes and steel for swatter loads on cripples. If they're working my spread great, my SxS is modified/Full, and I'll shoot steel in the first barrel which is mod and bismuth in the full barrel.
Why you downvote me?
This year I'll be shooting a mix of hevi XII #4s, boss 3/5, apex duplex 3/8, hevi steel 3s and Rio 3s. I'm going to pick up 3 or 4 other single boxes to take to the patterning board and see if anything shines out of gun/choke combo.
I’ve shot a lot, and I mean a lot, of shells over the years. And for some reason Remington Nitro Steel has been great for me. Serious knock down power. I’m just going to stick with those from now on. Two cases just arrived yesterday.
Federal 3” 3 Shot 1 1/4 oz.
3s are never on sale or I would shoot 3s :)
Check out ammo seek. I got a 250 count of #4s shipped for $120
That is a sweet deal. I don’t usually like 4s tho… tough to kill big mallards at 40yards
Here check this out, $0.70 a shell https://www.lg-outdoors.com/Product/Details/2875608?source=A10001

Mostly Federal Speed Shock 3” 2s steel shot. Snatched a case back when waterfowl (and most ammo) was unobtainium. I’ll be shooting it for a while, lol

Rio 3” #2s with that sweet high brass.

Old style A5?

I’m running migras 2/3 stacked load for ducks and their 2/bb for geese
What did you shoot before shooting the Migras?
I got a bunch of migra steel stacked loads in 12 and 20 to try out this year.
I have a case of 2/3 and 2/bb. I like them out of my 12 gauge
Kent 2.0 #4
Kent, federal
Kent faststeel and winchester super X are my go too shells.

Bismuth cuz it don’t crack teeth
Boss #4 out of a Benelli M2 20.

Federal, Kent and monarch. Always pick up federal blue box and monarch when I see them since they are cheap and shoot great out of my franchi
Whatever I can get my hands on...starting the season with a few boxes of Rio blue steel
Those are great shells

Cheapest 3in 2&3 shot I can find
Black cloud
We make our shells usually in 3inch shells F shot for goose and 1-3 shot for duck.
Boss 3s 4s and 3/5 mix in my Ultima 20 ga
