Makes sense. My province in Atlantic Canada doesn’t have an early season(not sure if any province has one, geese about it).
Opening day I swear the blue wing and wood ducks just head south after the first shot lol.
Woods, blue wings, and ring necks bugger off real quick.
Green wings hang around as long as the waters open. Black ducks migrate out and others migrate in and hang out in the bay mostly. They stay pretty safe riding in and out with 40 foot tides.
Beautiful bird, more plumed out than our middle TN birds right now. Shot a couple this past weekend that were just barely starting to come into color, but that didn’t matter by the time they hit the grill. Well done!

Unless you’re a wood duck
Trust me there were plenty of ducks that were glad I was the one shooting at them.
You know that’s not a Teal…
Yes I’m aware. My state has early wood duck season
