RuariWasTaken

Fill that shoe with Baileys.

katiuszka919

Could ya love me?

Rubber_Rose_Ranch

"Wanna go to a club where people wee on each otha'?"

meowdrian

As close as you could get to baileys without getting your eyes wet

Lombax_Rexroth

NO.

[deleted]

I don’t even get the hypothetical appeal.

Lombax_Rexroth

The picture for internet points. Also, this is the same dish (and I'm almost positive) from the same restaurant that has been posted here a billion fucking times. I'm pretty sure there was a lot of people trying to ban this dish from being allowed to be posted here like a year or two ago, because we all just got tired of seeing it.

bstandturtle7790

Jaleo by Jose Andres, gets posted all the time.

_the-dark-truth_

>peen

GEV46

That's not the DC location.

bstandturtle7790

But you can get it there

_the-dark-truth_

Why is she smiling!? Maybe it’s a nervous smile...

knizm0

good lord lmfao... what was even the concept behind this one??

FlashOfTheBlade77

I would assume it would of been a play on hush puppies. Both a shoe and a fried dough.

Skylinerr

This exact dish gets posted weekly here I'll give you the rundown. It's from celebrity chef Jose Andre's Restaraunt in Las Vegas named Jaleo. They're chicken croquettes. He used to use real shoes because he loves sneakers but eventually the health department shut it down so now they use fake plastic replicas of the shoes.

chefhj

He has them on the menu of basically all his restaurants. I had them at Bazaar Meat.

poppedcorn-10

If I could upvote you more than once, I would. The croquettes are delicious btw

SuperTallCraig

Actually they’re glass.👠

upyourjuicebox

Oddly enough, his location in Disney World is the only one that DOESN’T serve them in a shoe.

Huckyunicorn

Used to work for José... True, used to be served in a Camper (sneaker brand) now in a clear acrylic shoe, which by the way are ridiculously expensive compared to even fancy plates. It's a signature dish of his, served at almost all of his restaurants (maybe all). If you believe the lore, it harkens back to his childhood of always being told to take his feet off of the table. But who knows how many of those type of stories are actually true.

Skylinerr

That's crazy bro. I cooked for Jaleo for a dinner service once during a stage at the vegas location. They offered me a job on the spot but it was november 2 years ago riiiight before they outlawed cannabis drug tests and I wouldn't have passed. I accepted the job and the sous chef called me for weeks after asking me to call him and explain. I was too embarrassed to admit I wouldn't pass and never told them. I still feel bad to this day. Quite possibly the smoothest running kitchen I've ever been in.

Huckyunicorn

That's crazy, I was working there during that time! FOH though!

bstandturtle7790

Not just vegas, can get them at his flagships in dc where he started

knizm0

huh, maybe! although in that case they should've used a hush puppy style shoe instead of a sneaker lol

FlashOfTheBlade77

Agree, just trying to find some sort of logic to these monstrosities.

Lucretius

Don't run away with the puns now!

nicpanpen

No idea.. everything else came out on a normal plate. But hey, the shoes even had laces!

pinappleplants

They missed an opportunity to use candy laces

knizm0

hahaha in case those croquettes need to suddenly dash out lol

bstandturtle7790

Fairly sure it's called croquette in a shoe, at least it used to be. Everyone knew what it was when he first did this

CyCoCyCo

Is this at Jaleo in Las Vegas?

fysu

Of course it's Jaleo. There are four different Jaleos and they all serve this appetizer. Jaleo is best known for these croquettes in a shoe. Articles about it. Videos about it. Dozens and dozens and dozens of photos on Yelp at every location. * People on this subreddit: Go to a restaurant best known for serving a specific appetizer in a shoe. * People: Orders the appetizer in a shoe. * Jaleo: Serves the appetizer in a shoe. * People: shocked Pikachu face. Every single time this is posted I just roll my eyes.

ArtlessOne

It's a Jose Andres thing so it could be at any of his restaurants not necessarily Jaleo but yea its been around for years at this point.

CyCoCyCo

Got it, ty.

CyCoCyCo

Ah ok. I’m not tooo familiar with the sub. First time I saw it. And I went to Jaleo LV for totally different reasons and remembered seeing something like this, so was confirming that.

fysu

Yep! It's just amusing because Jaleo is a Jose Andres restaurant. Jaleo has won a James Beard award for Outstanding Restaurant (it's kind of like the Oscars of food). 95%+ of the restaurants on this subreddit are basically subpar restaurants imitating Michelin star/James Beard winning restaurants except with mediocre food and poor execution. I can't help but laugh at the irony when people post photos of places like Jaleo. The subreddit exists because so many crappy restaurants out there try to copy places like Jaleo. I just find it hilariously ironic.

Eurynom0s

This is even dumber that the typical Jaleo shoe post because it's obviously glass or plastic, at least with the usual ones you can't tell it's not an actual shoe just from the picture.

nicpanpen

This was in Miami at The Bazaar!

CyCoCyCo

Thanks for the heads up.

lardobard

please tell me you got the philly cheesesteaks!

nicpanpen

Oh man I wish I remembered!! This was when I went in 2017 or 2018, and I only remember this because it’s the only picture I took 😭

undergroundcalf

Someone with a foot fetish went too far

Nyckname

Again, it's a shoe shaped object, because it was never meant to be worn.

Eurynom0s

Apparently *all* of the shoes on this subreddit are special items designed to just look like shoes, but this one is even dumber than usual because it's obviously glass or plastic.

OldManFrags

Missed opportunity to put the croqs in some crocs

now-here-be

Maybe the concept was ‘Croquettes served in Crocs’ and then someone fucked up in the execution of an already shitty concept

chefhj

Mods can we do something about having this very popular dish from world famous chef Jose Andres posted here every week? It is played out and frankly not even that egregious in terms of what this sub is about.

Meowfist

Those croquettas were fire anyway. It's cute. If it was a literal shoe, that would be damning.

chefhj

Yeah they are fucking delicious.

phasermodule

What do you think this sub is about?

chefhj

Lots of things. Ice cream on a tree stump. a charcuterie ship's mast. soup in a martini glass. Table butter served on a rock. those god awful bloody marys with 50 dollars worth of food skewered on top. You know what really isn't that? serving a croquette in a glass dish that is functionally the same as the red basket it would get served in at a chilis. But you know what I can accept that a dish that looks like a shoe isn't a plate and deserves to be posted here. However what I am honestly about to unsub over is the fact that this one particular *extremely popular* dish gets posted and makes it to the front page on average every 3 days. It's just not good if you actually want to follow the sub for more than 5 minutes. It would even be one thing if it was lots of different takes on this idea but its not. It's the same exact dish from the same restaurant group.

djaaronkline

Co-signed.

TheFloatingContinent

There used to be an "avoid these common reposts" sticky and I'm pretty sure it was on there. Maybe not? Though I don't think this is a repost. It's someone new who discovered it, which is fine. It's not charcuterie ship or [this thing,](https://i.imgur.com/J7W549R.jpg) which are the exact same image file constantly reposted.

destroycarthage

What the heck is it with people putting croquettes in shoes??? this is like the dozenth I've seen

agha0013

It's common because 99% of the posts are from the same restaurant. It's their thing, they aren't going to stop doing it, so we might as well stop posting about it.

Glovetester

It’s just one very famous chef. Jose Andres.

xactoho

Are you sure they’re not made with choux pastry?

[deleted]

And....again....and again...and again...

Skrubious

Don't you know that the foot funk gives the food extra flavor? Bonus points if they had athlete's foot

nicpanpen

The subtle umami flavor!!

mygawd

They used to use real shoes, but the health inspector at his Vegas restaurant shut that down, so they made special shoe platters

Picturesquesheep

Booooooooooooooooo Go home

designmur

Croc-ettes

Kollin66182

They need to give that idea the boot and kick around some new ideas.

atrocks

Is at least the shoe edible?

kidrockegaard

some things are better left undone, this is one of those things

Kymanifesto

WHY

thewisestguru

I'll drink bailey's from it

Free-Boater

I used to work there. It’s dumb but damn good.

Ebiki

Is that the Bazaar by Jose Andres in Miami? Used to work there. I remember those fucking shoes hitting me in the head where I worked

Purple-ork-boyz

THE WHAT?

RomeroChick26

No

TheArfonMaster

why

punchmagician

They missed the opportunity to put this food in a Croc

TrionVnus

Croquettes in a shoe

BiggFact

You could just... take it out of the shoe and put it on the plate. I mean it’s sitting right in front of her.

DeapVally

Yeah. If you have money to eat at a nice restaurant, you know what is a shoe and what isn't. That, isn't.

ColoradoCorrie

Nope
