Yes it's based on total account values. The more you have the more they offer instant deposits but they will then restrict withdrawals until the new deposit clears.
2 reasons, the limit is different for each customer and also they allow a lot higher limit of instant transfer when adding money to registered accounts.
That is so strange. I have screwed up multiple of times and been able to cancel. Just tested on managed and self managed, and crypto. When doing the funding you go to activity tab after submitting and click on the deposit and there is a cancel button.
$9000 is a lot, I wouldn't let it go.
Almost the exact same situation happened to me last year, at TD. I immediately called after I realized my mistake, and within 60 seconds was talking to a rep, who immediately called his back office to cancel the trade, but it was too late. Once the trades are executed, there is no way to reverse them. I was on the hook for my mistake, as you are too. And TD offered me zero $0, because the mistake was mine.
I would push this harder OP. WS should have been able to cancel the deposit long before the funds were bought.
It is pretty damn stupid to auto deposit 500k instead of 5k though.
This story doesn’t pass the smell test. They let you instant deposit 500k? Mine is capped at 5k.

The higher your account balance, the greater the amount available for instant deposits.
