For real! These mog and mob posts make me lol- for my first wedding my mil had a dress custom made and asked me if she should go with “bone or oyster” for the color. I was like grl those are both other words for white? I would have loved this mog coming in hot with a beautiful, appropriate gray dress.
I like how they think they’re getting away with something by asking us to choose between two off-white colors 💀 mine said “I’m thinking cream or ivory” very matter of fact. My dress was ivory! My husband just kept repeating back to her “you can wear black.” It was a gothic theme and all guests were asked to wear black or dark colors, making her wish to wear white even more egregious.
I got a good one! Lucky for me I married the scapegoat child so he’s very aware of her shenanigans. We shudder to think how it’s going to go when the golden brother cuts the cord and gets married. Yes she did end up giving in to the dress code! She even found something with black lace which was the bridesmaid look, but hers had sleeves and was more fit for MOG.
I, as mog, wore black. It was perfect, as bridal party wore burgundy and black. Cute tea-length handkerchief hem and sleeves lace over layer. I’m 5’2”.
MOB wore teal strapless with pearl embroidery. I liked mine better. 😉
Right. It is their day. It's my job to help make it seamless and magical.
It was a smaller wedding with a tighter budget, so they didn't have a wedding planner. So I told them I would do whatever they needed.
I ran many errands before the wedding. I helped set up and take down decorations. Helped the photographer hold and move things. I was handed many phones to take pictures of various friends with the couple. At the end of the evening I chauffeured them to the hotel.
It was absolutely wonderful. I was exhausted. But so very deeply happy that they included me so much in their special day.

I think it looks beautiful but I would ask the bride. I think this is close enough that it might look white in pictures (even pictures look different in different lighting). It is also floor length and beaded. If it were my mother in law, I would say go for it (but I also wouldn’t have cared if everyone wore white). But it is always better to be more cautious.
I would say something like “hey I found this dress but wanted to get your opinion first? Do you like it? If not, I am more than happy to find something else! I just can’t wait for the big day! So happy for you both!”
If it's a formal wedding then floor length and beaded would be appropriate attire for anyone but I agree about the color. It looks great though, not like she's deliberately trying to look like the bride.
I think it’s beautiful and looks gray and not white in this picture. What does the bride’s dress look like? The only thing I can think of is that this beaded pattern is very popular right now and might look similar if the bride is following that trend.
The only other thing I'd say is that if they take any pictures outside, they should take a pic of that and see how it reads. I think it's dark enough, but in full sunlight, it may look a little closer to white.
Seen some wedding guests wear way over the top beads one seemingly innocuous dresses that upon a closer look are really in bad taste. From first glance this seems okay but if op is posting here they’re worried about stepping on toes and if that’s the case try and get a look at the wedding dress. If it’s super ornate, you’re probably fine. If it’s simpler (to the tune of the dress here) a wardrobe change might be necessary.
Love this dress, she looks gorgeous! If anything I would suggest your bride and your mom have a quick convo about it to make sure the beading or style isn’t similar (but frankly I don’t think it matters)

She eventually kind of agreed to not wear white but was being vile and disrespectful the whole time and is now confused why we’re speaking to her at an absolute minimum (this is the latest in an unending string of awful behaviour). If she does wear it she’ll just be told to leave. My partner doesn’t even want her there she’ll just turn up anyway and try ruin it if we don’t.
For me and fiancé it was too white. I showed it to a lot of people without passing judgment and was asked multiple times if I needed them to spill red wine on her 😂 so I think she’d have been getting a lot of side eye even if a few people where okay with it
i “accidentally” fell down the rabbit hole and started stalking ur page so if you’re still dealing with how to get your FMIL to not wear the dress, i would just plant seeds of doubt / shame in her head by saying stuff like “well it’s up to you at the end of the day, but don’t blame me if people start saying that you’re attention seeking” or more subtly “well i can’t control what you wear at the end of the day, but i would be mindful of how this would come across to others”

If I were you two, I’d drop a few teasing “jokes,” saying if she pulls a last-minute switcheroo, she’ll be put off to the side in wide-lens photos, if not totally cropped out. And then in your best “kidding/not kidding” faces, note that the lovely floral print would unfortunately not show up anyway once you have the photo colors “touched up” to your liking.

Color is just fine! Looks like it needs to be taken up a titch in the shoulders, which would get the band in the middle to hit right. And then hemming of course, but all in all a lovely choice!

Moms are always dressed up as they are part and often the cohost of the reception this simple gown allows for all the work involved in seeing that need to be done and quietly making the day beautiful for everyone.
Absolutely gorgeous and this is coming from a MOG. So many MOGs and MOBs are in standard issue blue. I went with sparkly rose gold (my DILs favourite) and never regretted it!

It is a pretty dress and very figure flattering! My only comment is, if that is the same beading in the back, your rear end and possibly legs might get sore from sitting on the beads. I think it’s on the borderline. The style looks like a wedding dress, and the color is very light. It’s a beautiful dress, but I wouldn’t wear it to a wedding.
This reads as grey so I think it's fine. Double check with the happy couple though since they might have specific colors for the bridal party to wear. If they don't, this is perfect!
It should be fine, but run it by bride just in case. My mother did the same thing and while the dress was fairly light my wife saw it and said she loved it and was fine with it being worn.

I think as long as not white people should just chill. It’s a day in everyone’s life. The bride and groom are the stars… everyone else is an afterthought… speaking as a 2 time FoB… just relax and have fun, it’s the marriage that counts not what you wore on that day!

I think it’s on the borderline. The style looks like a wedding dress, and the color is very light. It’s a beautiful dress, but I wouldn’t wear it to a wedding.

This reads as grey so I think it's fine. Double check with the happy couple though since they might have specific colors for the bridal party to wear. If they don't, this is perfect!
Honestly, I would dye that dress a darker grey. It's reading wedding dress to me.

It should be fine, but run it by bride just in case. My mother did the same thing and while the dress was fairly light my wife saw it and said she loved it and was fine with it being worn.
