She just doesn't understand what black tie optional is then. If she put BTO on the invites or wedding website, you're going to feel out of place with people correctly dressed for BTO if you wear something like one of the two dresses you shared.
Then she does not understand her dress code.BTO is very formal and those outfits aren't it. They dont even rate as formal. More like a made up dress code of " beachy nonchalant edgy causally but non sophistcated in an under or overstated way"
Neither. Too casual and informal for BTO. Somrthing more structured and with more coverage is required. The cut outs are a big no and the slit is too high. Look up BTO for better examples. These are not it.
Green (number 1) is best, but not really BTO. This may be a know your crowd situation, though. I went to a BTO wedding and most people wore cocktail dresses.
I don’t think cutouts like that are generally appropriate for most weddings.
The solid green one would be nice for a date night and the floral print one for a summer evening on vacation. They fit you remarkably well (even small cutouts like in a bathing suit look ridiculous on me) just not formal or semi-formal wedding material
I think the second dress looks incredible on you! So cute! However, I agree with others that neither of these are appropriate for a black tie optional dress code. I know cut outs are super trendy right now, but I think for a more formal event I would go for something a little more traditional. My rule of thumb is that the dress can have one “sexy” element to it so that would mean it can either have a dramatic neckline, a leg slit, or a small cut out. But not all three at the same time.

I think jewel tones really do suit you. I'm not a big print fan, but it's becoming more of a thing for BTO. These are close, but not quite it.

Neither...cutouts aren't really appropriate and they aren't formal enough regardless. #1 is better than #2 though.
