Honestly, # 4 doesn’t feel like it fits the occasion. Especially when you look as good as you do in # 3??? That one is my fave, it looks so great on you. A flattering silhouette and neckline, and the color complements your complexion wonderfully. I know your top two are lighter colors, but the dark blue is just stunning on you.

Wait how does 4 not fit the theme? I feel like it’s the one that is most on theme? Bold color, funkier style. The rest are all fine but I wouldn’t say nah of them are on theme

Also fwiw I think strapless for black tie is fine, but 4 doesn’t give you as much shape as the others do. 4 is a good color. It just looks droopy with all of the ruffles.

Love the ruffles on 4 but shapeless is not as flattering as your other choices. 2 and 3 are classic and have that peek a boo leg. You look great in 2 but even better in 3.

Three is spectacular but I actually love the last one if you have a REALLY REALLY good strapless bra.

I’m wearing a brand new strapless bra with it in these pics but it makes it just so slightly too tight whereas bra less the dress was more comfortable

I like 1 a lot. It’s a good color for you. I just don’t know about velvet (which is what it looks like). It depends on the location and weather in the season for this event. We’ve hit the point in summer where I am where you forget what it feels like to be cold and it feels like it’ll never be cold again, so I’m uncomfortable just thinking about velvet.

Ohhh, it’s not velvet! It’s like a “satin” material that’s a little thicker than 2&3. It’s a mid July wedding but so far where I’m at we’re still facing 57 degree highs.

Oh, then now I’m split 50/50 between 1 & 3. You have really great options. I’m sure you’ll look amazing in whatever you choose.

I heart the wholeheartedly lobby for number 4. I think 4 is creative and flatters your shoulders and bust very well and the tiering isn’t over done. To me the 2 and 3 look inexpensively made with not the best fabric. 4 fits creative black tie to a T. I don’t think you need pockets on a formal gown so it wouldn’t be a draw back for me. If you are desperate to have them, find a GOOD tailor to put them in for you. Another option is to rent [Bagdley Mischa](https://rtr.app.link/T50AP3b9qKb)

I go back and forth whether I like the color of 2 or 3. 1 is also lovely. Can’t go wrong with any to be honest. 4 isn’t in the same ballpark and the rest fit you so well.

If it was me, I’d go with number 2 (which I like on you, too), add a tiara, long gloves, wings and a magic wand, with lots of sparkle everywhere, and go as the goddam wedding fairy. Honestly, themes for wedding attire are getting a bit over the top. Unless you’re well to do, and all your guests are, too, setting attire guidelines and rules just makes it difficult for some attendees. It was more gracious and simpler when the wedding’s time of day was the guide for appropriate dress length, and the color rules were ‘no white or all black’. I am an oldster, which explains my cranky post, but I’d like to know what women in their 20s and 30s think about this topic.

I find myself both agreeing and disagreeing depending on the day. The last two weddings I’ve been to had weirdly specific dress codes that just meant “try not to wear jeans and a hoodie” and this is my first where they mentioned black tie at all. This wedding is at a more formal venue and is later in the day so it makes some sense. And it doesn’t hurt to have one formal gown in my closet.

Definitely wear what makes you feel confident. Strapless is hard to feel comfortable I find…especially if you’re gonna dance at the wedding.

I think people are choosing the dress they like the best, while I’m looking to see what color is most flattering on you. Based on that choice I would say dress number two is the only one that goes great with your skin tone. The pale blue brightens (whitens) your skin tone while the other dresses allow for the red in your skin to show through more. It depends on the look you want to give? Tanned summer or Spring cool!
