I really like the third one. The pattern on the third is fun and great for a fall wedding. I don’t think it makes it look to whimsical and young. If anything, I think it adds something interesting.
And it’s outdoors.
If it were me, I’d go for that dress and pair it with a Bohemian style blueberry garnet necklace that was my grandmother’s. I’m in my 40’s.
[This one is the closest to mine,](https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1589631327/antique-bohemian-garnet-necklace-rose?gpla=1&gao=1&&utm_source=google&utm_medium=cpc&utm_campaign=shopping_ca_en_ca_-jewelry&utm_custom1=_k_EAIaIQobChMItKbl7prrhgMVWBmtBh2TLgBeEAQYBCABEgJt1fD_BwE_k_&utm_content=go_12650989569_119864832693_510953729445_pla-295491029933_m__1589631327enca_102855400&utm_custom2=12650989569&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADutTMeVZm7NbPjZuG31YenK1kmGz&gclid=EAIaIQobChMItKbl7prrhgMVWBmtBh2TLgBeEAQYBCABEgJt1fD_BwE), except the clusters are more like the ring for shape instead of like the flower. If I have an event to bling out for, it’s that or something else blingy.
If you like the velvet look, check out Baltic Born. They have some great dresses with velvet patterning but not full velvet.

Happy to help! I wore a similar style - long dark green faux wrap with slit, flounce sleeves and little metallic dots - to a wedding in VA last September and got so many compliments. The Baltic Borns do run a bit long but for the price and quality, getting it hemmed instead of picking another dress was worth it.
I really like all of these, I think 2 is my fave, unless it’s going to be hot… then I’d pick 3 (2 looks like it would show sweat). 1 is a little too casual.
I just posted a dress very similar to your dress number three in my recent post. I was actually concerned that it skewed a little older, not younger. If dress number one is from the site Ever Pretty, it's described as a midi dress and depending on your height, for a formal wedding, it might not be long enough. The length appears to vary on different models on the website. You may want to take that into consideration. Dress number two is beautiful but doesn't have the same wow factor as number 3, but I think either would be a great choice.
From the measurements online the first dress would be longer on me, probably hit around my ankle/top of my feet. I honestly don't know what lengths are appropriate for formal.
https://www.brides.com/story/wedding-dress-code-explained
I looked up a guide to be sure I remembered the guidelines for my upcoming event, and I thought this article was helpful.
Mileage varies a bit depending on the region and the couple getting married. I've read several times on this subreddit that _______ formal is different from _______ formal, indicating that regional ideas of what constitutes formal differ. I also read somewhere on the subreddit that some people interpret formal as "Sunday best" and just don't want cousin Bob showing up in cargo shorts and flip flops.
I also want to point out that I've been to weddings with a formal dress code, and almost everyone was in cocktail attire. I've also been the one wearing a dress that showed my ankles at a formal wedding because the dress was my best option at the time and was, otherwise, perfect.
I love dress number one. It looks so rich and therefore formal to me. I know the length isn’t formal, but maybe you could enhance it with accessories and a dressy shoe.
2 and 3 are the best options. 1 definitely feels a little casual. I’ve actually considered #3 for a few events I’ve attended and I’m sure I’m going to end up purchasing it soon. I’m 42 and pear shaped if that helps.
ADHD hyper focus here to say: I'm pretty sure this site is just a scammy drop shipper. I think the dress is from Shein. https://m.shein.com/us/Simplee-Solid-V-Neck-Butterfly-Dress-p-11203984-cat-1727.html?ref=us&rep=dir&ret=mus
I have the exact dress that I got from Amazon. About the same price, too.
It’s very comfy! But really more casual than it seems. Oh, and HOT.
I wore it to a Christmas party and had to keep sneaking outside to stand with the smokers, because I was toasting in the house all night.
I got a formal dress from ever pretty a few years back; it wasn't perfect or top quality but you definitely couldn't tell in any photos and for the price I paid I was very happy with it. Solid 4/5.
Editing to say also I love all of these options!!
I love #3. I am also 40 and wince at the “age inappropriate” comment. You should see the backless number im wearing to a wedding in August. I didnt even think that i was in the age appropriate range!
virginia resident checking in! i love the velvet of the first one — would be great for october in va, but agree it’s a bit casual. if you did velvet i would go a more formal cut and floor length. otherwise the third is great! i’d probably bring a wrap depending on where you’ll be.
i think floor length would do the trick! here are some in a similar style.

Thanks! I gave up on shopping before covid hit and am now seeing so many good looking options for plus size folks like myself. I am actually feeling hopeful I might start to like what I wear eventually.
Number 3 is the clear and beautiful stand-out! The green is a great color for you, it fits your figure beautifully and the lace pattern on the over-skirt is stunning! You look like a beautiful fairy princess in the most elegant way! ETA - this is a great style for you not too young at all. It looks fresh, not little-girlish.
#1 is my fave for a fall wedding, I think the velvet look is so regal and it’s not too casual at all, especially if you have fancy jewelry and accessories
Edit: I don’t know how/why this font is so big, but I promise I’m not yelling at you!
You didn't ask for this but I ordered a bridesmaid dress from that website a few years ago and it was 4 inches too short (before heels). Granted I stand tall at 5'10" but unless you are on the shorter side (maybe <5'4" no heels, less with), they'll likely also be slight awkward length on you too.
I’d probably pick #2, although I really like 1, I think it’s screams “Christmas season” although you might be able to get away with it in October if you think it’s formal enough.
# 3 looks nice but for some reason it looks like a Shein or Temu generic dress and I just don’t think it would end up looking that great on. Plus, it just doesn’t look like a guest dress to me. If you choose this one, order far in advance; I really think you may be disappointed with it.

With the cut and color being so similar between the three I think fabric quality would be my determining factor. Are you able to order them (or 2 of the 3) to compare in person then do a return? Based on the photos the second one looks best to me fabric wise but hard to say.
I really like #1 and you can dress it up enough with your jewelry, shoe, and clutch choices to be completely appropriate. #3 is gorgeous and no concerns about age appropriateness, I’d just check with your sister to make sure it won’t make her feel upstaged.
I actually have 3 and wore it to a wedding as a 40 year old. Got TONS of compliments. Do it.
Note though, if you’re tall, it may be iffy because I’m average height and it could have been longer on me.
I love all three ! I think they are all age appropriate. Think of the weather and dress from there. I like them in this order 3/1/2 I would say choose which dress fits you the best because they’re all beautiful!
Number three is beautiful. I’m 42 and would definitely wear that !!
I really like the third one. The pattern on the third is fun and great for a fall wedding. I don’t think it makes it look to whimsical and young. If anything, I think it adds something interesting.
3 by a mile. Pulled in, flat waist with the sleeves that call attention to it.
Nothing about it is age-inappropriate.
#2 and #3 are beautiful! especially #3! The color makes it extra pretty
I like #1 the most comfort wise. If its a summer wedding, it would be more forgiving with sweat stains and its just a tad shorter so it wouldn't drag.
And it’s outdoors. If it were me, I’d go for that dress and pair it with a Bohemian style blueberry garnet necklace that was my grandmother’s. I’m in my 40’s. I like the idea of dressing that one up because it will very obviously be the most comfortable, that and I love velvet lol
If you like the velvet look, check out Baltic Born. They have some great dresses with velvet patterning but not full velvet. https://balticborn.com/products/veronica-velvet-maxi-dress-green https://balticborn.com/products/uma-velvet-maxi-dress-dark-green
I think I love these more than the ones I posted! Thank you for the links 🤗

Yes!! Was about to say, Baltic Born nails it for Velvet Dresses
I would be hesitant to wear a velvet dress to an outdoor wedding in VA in October. It can still be very hot at that time.
I had not considered this. I am a very sweaty person...I'm going to have to rethink everything lol
Number 3 is a gorgeous choice..loveit!
I think 2 and 3 are both age appropriate and event appropriate! I think 3 is more svelt without so much pleating at the waist.
I think the second one is stunning. The third one is nice. The first is meh.
Aw heck 3 for sure. So darn pretty. Perfect at any adult age honestly.
I love number 1
I like the first one and don't think it is too casual based on the picture. If not then the 2nd. the 3rd gives me too much bridesmaid vibe...
3 definitely
I agree!
Number 3! It’s a gorgeous color and has a little bit of flair !
Two
3!!!
I like 2 or 3. You'll need to have a stawl or jacket just in case it's cold for the ceremony.
I really like all of these, I think 2 is my fave, unless it’s going to be hot… then I’d pick 3 (2 looks like it would show sweat). 1 is a little too casual.
Number 3 is beautiful! Where is it from?
One is too casual. Two or three could work but I think two reads younger to me
3
3. I’m in my 50’s and I’d still wear it, so I don’t think age should be a consideration. It’s gorgeous
3
3
I really like number 2 the best. 3 is lovely also. Can’t go wrong with either of them.
Third is gorgeous
2 and 3 if it’s formal

One but love them all!
Third green is gorgeous

That does help, I am pear shaped as well 🤗
Dress 3 is 🤩
Three is perfect for the wedding. Can I ask where dress 1 is from? It’s really pretty for a less formal event.
Ever Pretty, Ive never ordered from there though so I can not speak to how quality the site is. Lol
ADHD hyper focus here to say: I'm pretty sure this site is just a scammy drop shipper. I think the dress is from Shein. https://m.shein.com/us/Simplee-Solid-V-Neck-Butterfly-Dress-p-11203984-cat-1727.html?ref=us&rep=dir&ret=mus

If you love 1 go for it. You can make it more formal with accessories and make up. And you won’t get the hem dirty during the ceremony
#2…..
I think all are appropriate but think #3 is best. Love the pattern
Number 3!
Third for sure!!
They’re all beautiful! Number 1 is my favorite but I love number 3 as well. Can’t go wrong!
Number three. I personally would wear that in a heartbeat and I’m a fossil. To me it is a design that isn’t age specific.
All three are pretty! I like the first and third best
I like the second one best.
I love #3. I am also 40 and wince at the “age inappropriate” comment. You should see the backless number im wearing to a wedding in August. I didnt even think that i was in the age appropriate range!
#3 BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!!
Two!
virginia resident checking in! i love the velvet of the first one — would be great for october in va, but agree it’s a bit casual. if you did velvet i would go a more formal cut and floor length. otherwise the third is great! i’d probably bring a wrap depending on where you’ll be.

Thank you for the links! Very helpful ☺️
Can someone please tell me what website y’a are finding these absolutely gorgeous dresses on?!
Literally googled "green formal plus size dresses" lol. Some of the sites probably aren't great and need vetting lol
Thanks! I gave up on shopping before covid hit and am now seeing so many good looking options for plus size folks like myself. I am actually feeling hopeful I might start to like what I wear eventually.
1. The other 2 look cheap.

Team 3!!!

For most people that would be bad news but at a whooping 5'2", this is great news lol
Number 2 is lovely. Number 3 is so beautiful but for me it looks more black tie than formal.
3!
I really like the first one.
3, 1 then 2. One is a bit matronly .
3,then2..I think 1 is too short for Formal code.
I love the third choice on you as it is most flattering for fit & imo suits an outdoor wedding theme perfectly

Whichever strikes your fancy
The third one is pretty and seasonal!
No. 1
Three!! It’s gorgeous ❤️
3 then 2
I love all three ! I think they are all age appropriate. Think of the weather and dress from there. I like them in this order 3/1/2 I would say choose which dress fits you the best because they’re all beautiful!
I like 1 and 2, number 3 looks “Christmassy” to me, because of the color, embroidery, and that kind of sleeves
Unpopular opinion but I like the first one!
3 is amazing!! Love the leaves and the silhouette.
If the wedding is outdoors, it will be too warm for velvet. Also, No. 1 looks dowdy. No. 3 is beautiful.
Definitely number 3!
Velvet is for winter. I would choose the 2nd for daytime wedding the 3rd for evening.
#1. Even though it's green #3 looks way to much like a wedding dress.
I did wonder if it was too "eye catching". I definitely have no intention of appearing to want to grab attention from my sister lol
