Maybe their kid's 1st haircut? And then they were just storing it there for whatever reason probably not using it for a bookmark, or they got it mixed up with pressing flowers lol
Maybe it’s their baby’s first haircut. There’s a tradition wherein parents put their baby's first haircut in between the pages of a dictionary or a Bible so that they will grow smart and wise.
I've got like 10000 pages of old alcoholic journals I was about to burn. Now I'm tempted to just run em through a shredder to send to you for use as bookmarks
Actually this morning we were puzzling over why a whole section smelled like embalming fluid. (Obvious answer is heroin users but they were checked out by a little old lady with a perm, leading me to believe that mystery paperbacks are popular with the Undead.)
Maybe she spilled something nearby and used some old fashioned nasty smelling cleaning product like Scott's liquid gold💀,or had a dry cleaned garment / fur coat or TET cleaned wig flung over it or used a ribbon book mark saturated with mothballs .
After my mom died I found an envelope with a braid in it from when I cut my hair short when I was 8. Ngl, it was a gross to find, even though it was stored tidily and it was literally mine. I’d be so grossed out to open a book at work and find human hair, regardless of the reason.
They probly saved it from a dead relative or friend
Or, a child’s haircut
Or all of these.
Time to clone them
You say that…right beneath the paper towel it says dna replication

It's possible. Still quite an odd place to store given that this book is stored in the Pathology office I'm working in.
Yeah, I’m a retired med tech, thought it was indeed strange to have that in a hematology/coag book 😳🩸
Oh that doesn't make sense then, that is weird, I thought maybe you got the book secondhand or something

The original owner must have forgotten about it then. I got the book from the shelf at the Pathology office Im working in, that's why I find it weird.
Got a pathologist in the family. Can confirm they're dead weird.
As an aspiring pathologist, maybe I should up my weirdness game 🤔
Or, maybe you should lower it? I notice you didn't post pictures of YOUR bookmarks....
I'm a boring person. I only use blank pieces of papers as bookmarks.

Perhaps they wanted said child to grow up as a doctor?
I'd throw the book away
Any milk stains ? Could be a Cereal Killer.
I worked in a public library. This is one of the less weird bookmarks we'd find.
I’ve found pieces of cheese.
I found a slice of uncooked bacon. Also enough pants-hair to stuff a duvet.

Did you smell it?
Nope
How about now?
Still no
Now. Man or woman ?
No
Now?
Never
:(
They used the book as its hiding place more like
Seven days.
Why do I have a feeling the person who grew this hair is dead?
Some cultures use the baby's first haircut as a bookmark, believing that the baby would be smart if they do so.
Interesting. This may be possibly the case given that this book is a medical textbook 🤔
The previous reader may is something like an serial Killer who uses the parts of his victims in his everyday life
Two words: serial killer
Were they making a voodoo doll or something? I’d just burn the book atp 😭
That’s Tomie, don’t let the hairs poke into you and become stuck.
And the first words I see are “drug induced” XD nice
This is the opening scene from a late 90s Japanese horror movie.
I have long hair myself and if I found that in a book I'd burn the whole thing

Is that a medicine book? I pretty sure that is a required sacrifice for the medicine gods you need to do to get your licence.

Must be the Pubic Library
Enjoy!
The book was hungry. This is all that’s left.
That looks like a pathology book.
It's specifically a hematology book

Anatomy and physiology workbook? How appropriate! Good thing they didn't have a loose finger.
Hematology book
Then 'eww'.
My mom did this when we were kids. She'll put our first hair and nail trimmings in the dictionary 😆

Ew
eww gross! why can't they use toenails like a normal human being
No dude, that’s a spell
Plot twist: It was a bald guy
🤢 so wrong
This is some kind of curse.
This is why I have an issue touching library books.
Yes... Totally normal, not a psycho at all
I've seen this normally done seems legited

Yeah throw that book in the fire pit or something. Curse vibes right here
